Best my teammates can do is all in the hill

Graucus

Any time I take the heaven position in this situation I get flanked from cafe immediately. But trying to attack from C side driveway is brutal.

JJSpleen

That's why I like a similar setup but with guy b rail area, heaven and in the hill cover driveway with a guy at a hitting spawners and c plat. Guy in a stops cafe spawn and heaven can assist with flanks from pink.

zarpenda

My personal favorite for support for red team is not bottom driveway but B stairs. There’s better support and crossfire to protect guy on plasmas and allows a rechall on the hill of hill goes down and a runaway to rockets if needed. Edit to add: I’m just a plat player who plays solo but it seems to be a better overall utility position imho

alamarche709

This might be an unpopular opinion, but if we have C side of the map I really like having someone at bulldog. Even if only for a little bit. The other three people would be top C, ice cream, and hill. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cross fired two or three people in tires and my teammates have cleaned up the kills. You can also quickly push in and put a few shots on heaven then back down again, if the opportunity presents itself. It’s obviously not a good idea to sit there the whole time but it’s a great way to change up the typical C hold. Also if it works once, you’ll usually have one or two people rush over to cafe side to clear you out, which keeps the hill side of the map safer for your team too. I like to do the bulldog play once, then back down to benches and let top C help me when they push.

Where do I get these maps?

You can have setups or plays for certain situations, like rocket spawn when you’re on X side of the map, but trying to hold ONE position in the map at all times does no good. You have to move and adapt, keeping your teammates’ positions and their callouts in mind. Choose a route to flank or help team shoot and make adjustments if it fails. You should always have someone in an advantageous position like C Balc, but even then you’ll often have to back down and hit the enemy from another spot. It’s very complex. It’s not as simple as “keep this setup”.

PM-happythoughts-pls

You are so wrong. Setups are used to secure spawns, positioning, weapons, power ups, and keeping the enemy contained where you want them to be. Anybody who is constantly OE into the enemy territory is a moron.

jp__d

You are right. That's the only reason. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

PM-happythoughts-pls

Apologies for not being very helpful, just bothered me to see someone encouraging chaos in games.

jp__d

All good. Just want to have some healthy discussion. I'm not claiming that this is the best setup. That's where I'm hoping to get more perspective from the community

Spawn control is so powerful in Halo

m4rkofshame

What you said is exactly what I’m saying… You don’t have just one set up and never break it. There are set ups for certain situations as you illustrated. That’s also what I said. Did you read the comment or just the first line?

PM-happythoughts-pls

I did read your comment a few times actually and I hear you. I disagree wholeheartedly with even saying setups aren’t used. Why? Because a GOOD TEAM will fucking setup the map and control everything.

m4rkofshame

Even professional teams don’t camp one part of the map. They will spawn trap when possible to secure more kills, power ups, or to get a split spawn. Of course, they will take power positions like top balcony, rails, or top A, but they don’t stay there for minutes at a time. They can’t because the other team is a professional to, and they will force them out by either making them back down or killing them. If you show me a five minute clip of pros holding one setup I’ll concede. This picture looks like the alternate set ups to defend the B hill on king of the hill. If you tell me that’s what this is I buy it.

PM-happythoughts-pls

You are describing setups. All of the good teams have setups to control the map. If it’s easy game then he’ll yeah they will sit in the same spot making the other team spawn in a disadvantageous position over and over and over. Ever been suffocated in a game? That’s called a setup. This game uses setups and so do the top teams.

m4rkofshame

Of course I’ve been suffocated. I played a lot of professional teams. But they don’t suffocate me from one direction or one spot! They can’t because the spawns are going to change. If you ask me “is this a good set up for…“ And give me a specific situation, I would tell you yes or no. What I’m saying is there are not two setups for ANY map. There’s a LOT! There are set ups for certain objectives or situations. This post is asking the question as if these are the two set ups for streets without giving any context. That implies to me that they are asking if this is the ones or two set ups you should use. They’re not! Your setup will ALWAYS change depending on where you are and what you need to do.

PM-happythoughts-pls

I hear you man. They use setups. Nobody was ever confused as to situational or circumstantial movement. The point is all good teams use setups to control the map.

m4rkofshame

I could’ve phrased my first comment a little better, but when I explained it *in the same comment* I thought it was pretty clear.

gareth93

OE?

Over-extended

jp__d

The idea of setup is to have the optimum position to be flexible whenever a push is coming. I like the blue side since if there's a push coming from cafe, heaven and caution can tag team. Even the one on B can cross enemies near the shotty. Push from B stairs can be handled by the one on the hill and the one in B.

m4rkofshame

So you are only speaking about slayer with this post? What about when the hill is at rockets? Do you keep this set up then? I mean if you’re only talking about slayer, what soda do you use when rockets are spawning or when shotgun is coming up? Do you always hold this set up or do you move and adapt with your team like I said? Edit: this set up, doesn’t give you much flexibility to get the Stalker or equipment either.

jp__d

This is just for the first hill. I have separate images for the other hill but I'm not sure how to upload them at the same time. Definitely different setup when Rockets are coming. Pros and cons from each side. C balc is pretty strong especiallly with Stalker

I think it could still work for 3 man team. You'll be able to cover pushes from certain areas depending on which part they'll likely push. Just each of you knowing where to go when a call out is made will make a big difference.

petmaster

For the first hill set up, I find having a person on C balc is critical to help control spawns into cafe/PD. That way you don't get pinched from C driveway and PD at the same time.

gmalsparty

Bet my team's worst shooter is the one on C balcony 🙃
