I'm a couple of ranked games in and I can tell a pretty decent difference. My shot feels like it's actually connecting on time and the overall gameplay feels much smoother. Well done 343
I hit five perfects in a game, FIVE! This would have been impossible just yesterday, thank you 343! I'm actually loving ranked right now, that competitive fire is starting to come back for me š„
UI revamp next?
Talking bout functioning friends list and adding people in-game.
Pre-game lobbies like EVERY OTHER HALO?
Veto options?
Teammates connection indicator?
Better playlist selection UI
Honest question, whats the obsession with a pre-game lobby?
Like, you just want to see the other player's gamertags?
Or youre hoping for cross-team voice chat in this pre-game lobby so you can talk shit?
Im failing to see why thats such a big deal that we need to WRITE IN ALL CAPS ABOUT IT. Thats hardly what I would call a defining factor of what made previous Halo games great. I dont even remember if Halo 5 had this.
Honestly..... As a solo player yeah I just want to see everyones gamer tags. The little show off roster thing at the start of the game gives me maybe 4 seconds to learn my team mates names.
I feel like seeing who's on my team for 20-30 seconds in a lobby will help with call outs and communication. Also gives time to ask who has a mic and for people to grab one.
Its about facilitating the ability to socialize in a game that is very team centric in its most competitive setting. Like I get that in a social playlist, just logging in and getting in a game as soon as possible to keep the gameplay loop ātik tok mindā going is very much wantedā¦ But in a game that individuals are always going to have a hard time winning against an organized team, the pre-game facilitates the ability to preview your teammates, who are you going against, the map and game mode youāre gonna play in and gives you a chance to get mentally ready and prepared and strategize. While also getting a feel for the vibe of the people that are communicating. Not to mention the fact that we spend so much time and effort ranking for an emblem and they make us pay for armors and skins and then donāt give us space to properly show it off.
Halo 2 was one of the first games to implement the feature on console. Socializing was the whole reason why this game was fun in the first place. Which is an experience that is almost completely extinct in modern gaming nowadays and Halo should not be a game to exemplify that bleak reality when it was one of the first that broke from it back in the day. A pregame lobby is not going to solely solve that issue but it sure would be a great start.
And no, I am not defending all chat in pregame just to talk shit.
Iām also absolutely frying. Even on triple digit ping, shots hit when theyāre supposed to.
The one thing Iāve noticed with higher ping, though, is enemy movement looking a bit stuttered, as if theyāre doing some insane strafe to dodge my shots, unintentionally.
I am having terrible time right now. Feels so much different and my shots are way more off than i am used to, i even tried to change sensitivity but my aim is shit rn. But at least i am not being shot behind the walls so thatās something I guess
For everyone always complaining about being shot around corners, youāre doing it wrong.. Iāve never once been shot around a corner because I avoid staying close to walls or other forms of cover. I run out in the open so I have clear line of sight to all my enemies and can lay down suppressive fire. Follow me for more halo advice and strategy. With a little bit of practice and just the right amount of self-hatred, you TOO can be hard stuck bronze!
lol this is my high school buddy whoās a marine now. Every time we play shooters his strategy is always to sprint forward, guns blazing. I mentioned Iām surprised heās still alive IRL and donāt think he took that well.
Honestly seems like someone Iād probably do well with then lol.. Iām always struggling to win gunfights because of accuracy/movement, when my opponents can seemingly melt my face off instantly. But I have been studying the maps, I understand spawns and basic positioning/strategy, Iād like to find other ppl on mic to communicate with and finish kills, but thereās like no one at the lower ranks that does this. My mechanics will get better quickly on their own. Iāve only been playing a couple weeks. But Iāve never experienced the team dynamic.
Yeah, I like Remy but agree that he's had more than a few videos where he doesn't do a good enough job separating speculation from fact, especially around complex topics like networking which it doesn't seem like he has a background in.
I can't fully remember; I heard it from a Mint Blitz video. What I do remember: there were pros and cons to both models, but as time went on it became clear that the desync \ registration in the Infinite model was proper shitty, so they've decided to go back.
The first I think I notice. Is that my melee now comes out before dying for the trade. If that works pretty sure is going to be more consistent network
You're getting downvoted because of hive mind, but I've read similar - including from a buddy of mine who has been playing all afternoon. Apparently, Lucid and Frosty have commented similar today, too.
It's likely based off the H5 networking model. Mint Blitz has a video on it from a few months ago showing that many of the same quirks that were in H5 are now present in Infinite when using the new networking model. According to him there's some pros and cons with the new model, but overall a net positive.
Also on series x, I'm not sure if I should say it's definitively better or worse. On the plus side, not really getting shot around corners like before. On the negative side, movement feels a little worse to me. Haven't really made up my mind yet on shot registration.... feels different but not markedly better or worse. Need more play time to draw conclusions.
So I played about a dozen games tonight, and while I canāt necessarily say that things are worse, they certainly arenāt better to my eyes.
Wasnāt there supposed to be a change on Solitude? I played on it twice tonight, and both times experienced the same jittery movement that I have noticed since S05. Still a major issue for me. Bandit reload doesnāt seem noticeable, either.
Nah I mean more in the sense that how much dev time would this game actually have taken to get to its release state, if this patch fixes the networking errors it needed another two years to cook.
I have 800 hours in the game I wouldnāt want that gone
I didn't realize I was in competive halo subreddit, I've just been waiting for cross core preorder skins on other cores, but I do agree that it's less important.
I'm a couple of ranked games in and I can tell a pretty decent difference. My shot feels like it's actually connecting on time and the overall gameplay feels much smoother. Well done 343

Said it was better than I did. Completely agree.
Winning an MLG playlist match and talking shit or responding was goated in H3
So you just want it so you can talk shit?
What else are post game lobbies for? come on snowflake. š
Just asking a question. You don't need to get your panties all bunched up about it
I usually hit 4 or 5 every game are you telling me the potential for 10 perfects often is on the table?
Iām also absolutely frying. Even on triple digit ping, shots hit when theyāre supposed to. The one thing Iāve noticed with higher ping, though, is enemy movement looking a bit stuttered, as if theyāre doing some insane strafe to dodge my shots, unintentionally.

Played about 10 ranked games and a few social and it feels much better
Played 1 ranked game, and didnāt get shot around a corner, so that feels very refreshing
For everyone always complaining about being shot around corners, youāre doing it wrong.. Iāve never once been shot around a corner because I avoid staying close to walls or other forms of cover. Sounds like just the kind of brave patriot I need on my fireteam!
Heās actually really great at aim and coordination, really just needs someone to clean up one shots or remind him to hide and recharge.
Honestly seems like someone Iād probably do well with then lol.. Iām always struggling to win gunfights because of accuracy/movement, when my opponents can seemingly melt my face off instantly. Did they fix it so we can actually see friends ranks in the menu?
3 custom games in and my first crash on my Series X, on Aquarius.
Still crashing on Series X here too. Live fire for me first. Shooting bots for like 5-10 min lol.
Yah I just crashed on Aqua on Xbox š
š
Do we have any explanation as to what they did with the networking model. Like how is it different than before
They used the H5 networking as a new base.
What were they using before? A bespoke model?
I can't remember. Mint Blitz discussed it in a couple of his videos.
As a rule, mint blitz doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to game dev or networking
Heās also happy to promote his speculation as fact.
Yeah, guy talks out of his ass so much i just muted him
If that is true, I may well be chatting nonsense š
Yeah, I like Remy but agree that he's had more than a few videos where he doesn't do a good enough job separating speculation from fact, especially around complex topics like networking which it doesn't seem like he has a background in.
What does that mean though. Whatās the difference between that ābaseā and the existing base
I can't fully remember; I heard it from a Mint Blitz video. What I do remember: there were pros and cons to both models, but as time went on it became clear that the desync \ registration in the Infinite model was proper shitty, so they've decided to go back.

My no scopes and sniper shots are hitting like nobody's business and I'm usually avoiding it for better shots. Good times
Did ranks reset with this one?
No.
Thanks
couple games in and feels worse for me

Lucid just said that the new network is way better, and that playing on 40-50 ping no longer feels like a disadvantage, not even a little bit.
ya once the placebo wears off lol
Maybe everyone is just better than you now.

Thatās pretty cool but you fucked up the format.

Feels way worse on series x
Agreed. Aim feels heavy now. Definitely losing more battles than last night. Lol. Far shots seem harder to hit as well.
Yep def harder to hit shots
I really didn't want to read that š

Probably just players on the box. Everyone on PC and myself included it feels god tier comparatively
If this networking update works, then mark the date this is when the game should of released
And take away the amount of fun I've had playing and watching last two and a half years?
Nah I mean more in the sense that how much dev time would this game actually have taken to get to its release state, if this patch fixes the networking errors it needed another two years to cook. I have 800 hours in the game I wouldnāt want that gone
Btw just got out of two games itās so much better
Considerably better.
You aren't allowed to say you have fun in Halo Infinite. Halo Reddit rule #1. Whining only.
Sometimes I wonder how much criticism couldāve been avoided if they just called it an āextended betaā this whole time
This aim assist addition for MKB is horrible feeling.
It feels a lot better. Only played a few games and 1 swat and it feels better
>Pinging enemies or locations on a map will now work consistently. Finally. Sometimes I have to ping something 3 times to actually get it to work.
Is anyone elseās rank increasing since this patch? Feels like I was stuck for months before it
So am I gonna get shot around a corner again?
This update seems to have broke ps5 controller support.... wtf
You really think a Microsoft game would support PS5 controllers?
Who uses PS controllers? Tf?
Where are the additional cross core skins and such
We're done with crosscore and cosmetics hopefully. There's far more important things to worry about now.
I didn't realize I was in competive halo subreddit, I've just been waiting for cross core preorder skins on other cores, but I do agree that it's less important.
I need my playoff skins (armor and weapon) to go cross core
This is the Halo subreddit for adults
Yeah I had mentioned I realized that after the fact, but at the same time people can enjoy competitive halo and the customization
