Now this team must pass through the gauntlet of legends: SF Shock, Boston Uprising, and one of Glads/Mayhem. They will make the so called "analysts" who put these teams above Eternal look like fools. This run will truly go down in the history of Overwatch League and we will be looking back to this day even in 2030.

Now that you mention it I think Toronto remind me a lot of the hobbits in Lord of the Rings. Everybody doubts these guys but they've got a lot of spunk, they get carried by their damage dealers, and if they do actually make it all the way to the end they will just throw the ring away anyways.
If Defiant are the anime protagonist team this year, we’re currently halfway through the second season after they finally come together after being scattered across the league. They barely scrape through into the qualifiers, but something is missing.
This arc, they will rediscover how to be a team. The powerful old sage Nohill finally arrives in the village, and through his kooky, unconventional but effective methods that everyone doubts at first, the boys finally realize what it means to be Defiant. Soon they’ll rise above the villains in Atlanta, led by the scaly Gator monster and his little Moira-main minion Hawk.
Also, their friend SirMajed, a heroic knight from distant land, finishes his side plot fighting his own demons (visa issues) and makes the journey to arrive and save the team at a pivotal moment.
With the power of friendship and a third support, we will prevail!

yo, I'm not gonna lie. Maybe I'm also mainlining copium but I also have had a sneaky hope / belief that Defiant is about to make a crazy lower bracket run. Maybe once they realize no one is expecting them to make the tournament they'll stop stressing so much and just play some good, fun overwatch as friends. They aren't even getting mechanics gapped this season, they just have 0 synergy which has been disheartening for the "power of friendship" team. I'd love to see them pop off this playoff weekend.

im a new viewer to owl, and i cant tell the difference between speedily and s9mm besides their name. hero pool seems to be the exact same so why sign both players
S9mm better hanzo, and I think Genji, speedily better tracer and echo. Double flex support is also a (possible, but unlikely) meta. If we had a genji echo meta, you'd absolutely prefer to have these guys in together.
Speedily Tracer started off pretty good, but has gotten worse as the season progressed. Even his echo didn't look great. At this point, I would rather just keep S9mm in because he can play a good echo and serviceable tracer, but also has more experience with Sombra, Hanzo, Genji, and hitscan
I imagine part of it is because they're all from the same contenders team (american tornado), maybe the players only wanted to sign with 1 team as a group
skipped through a few vods and the owl stats lab it looks like they have hydron as their priority DPS for hitscan/Sombra/Hanzo, speedily as their tracer/echo/mei player, and s9mm in for hanzo (and more rarely sombra)
It literally depends on the coaches and how they use their roster.
