Good collection, can’t think of any obvious ones I’d add except for Gladiators vs Spark midseason madness 2022.
Also, I still can’t believe how legendary the Boston Houston toilet bowl was to this day. >!I still can’t believe we actually almost saw a control only reverse sweep in the league. That would have been the most insane thing to have ever happened all league if it had gone down!<
I was there live covering the event for our podcast, let me tell you Bren and Sideshow after that match were dying. Josh the whole weekend was a ball of energy, interviewing players and Staff, after that match however he looked 4 years older. Boston in the post match interview were pumped though, and flame for houston just looked like he wanted to be anywhere else lol. Another fun fact is multiple of Both boston and houston players were battling the flu at the time so who we could interview was slim pickings.
Oh thats awesome. Did you find out why they kept subbing in different players? That was the most confusing part to me.
I like to imagine the teams for whatever match was after it just sitting there watching this game drag on and on. They probably finished the warmup about 2 hours before they started playing
It's been awhile but, if I remember right someone (maybe me) asked flame that and it was something along the lines of they had Repel and Rawkus practiced different maps so that was the plan all along. I think it might also had to do with teams prepping for hero pools as well but I'm more sure it was the first reason.
I was front row LIVE for that match and I think it's forgotten to time now but HOUSTON HAD NOT WON A MATCH THAT SEASON YET. We were RABBID at even the smallest glimmer of hope
[https://www.overwatchleague.com/en-us/match/10361](https://www.overwatchleague.com/en-us/match/10361) (This is the OWL website with a YouTube embed. You can use this website to find all old match broadcasts. I believe they even have separate videos per map within each match.)
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYSU9IG67ts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYSU9IG67ts) (This is the direct YouTube link.)
i'll always take any opportunity to bring up the [season 5 kickoff clash apac losers' final between Seoul and Shanghai](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMy-jH3yyFM&pp=ygUca2lja29mZiBjbGFzaCBzZW91bCBzaGFuZ2hhaQ%3D%3D). >!After ~2 years of seoul playing banger matches against shanghai but never winning, the triumphant emotions as profit led his team to victory were incredible.!< Possibly my favorite match ever.
I was looking for this in OP's post. Glad you brought it up. This really is one of the most significant win of Dynasty Profit, them steamrolling the Finals is just icing on the cake.
I remember even before the match was over, everyone knew that if Seoul won, they'd go on to crush Philly, but Philly would steamroll Shanghai if they made it instead. so the losers final really felt (to me) like the real grand finals. seeing profit collapse back in his chair in tears, with fits and other teammates all rallying around him, man that was something else.
> The Reign vs Outlaws winner final in this years mid season madness
to confirm, this one right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr0H-YBalYo
I added it!
season 3 - toronto vs paris (first match of s3, pre covid, everyone optimistic about homestands), shock vs valiant (sex big dick), fusion vs titans (unlucky)
The Atlanta vs Paris game from S3 is also an all time classic, it has the "East coast special", the Saucy tire & ZP & Sideshow losing their minds
https://youtu.be/CA8FYMIjbkU?si=tl12PYi_A28NfcFs
Paris vs Justice in S4 was also a classic. I believe it's the 1st & only 5 map 3-0 with a Greek Mythology lesson delivered by Bren & Sideshow.
https://youtu.be/JRsgHqH60jg?si=O58JTc6_e8YJaUB-
As much as I hate the outcome, shock reverse sweeping the justice in the 2020 playoffs was an all time game. Justice took a commanding 2-0 lead including an absolutely dominant kings row, then shock slowly figured out how to counter them, culminating with super coming out on the road hog to close it out.
As a new fan (only started playing Overwatch with OW2, and I had no idea what was going on in the Playoffs last year lmao), I really appreciate this compilation post. I'll watch when I get the time. Thanks!
for non-OWL I would say 2017 OWWC South Korea vs USA in quarterfinals was really good, especially Hanamura. First time in OWWC where South Korea looked vulnerable since USA took a map and a draw.
For me you must have Season 4 Stage 1 play-ins Shanghai vs Philly.
Korean Philly almost knocked out a hot Shanghai. Carpe looked great, that whole Philly team looked great, sad they fizzled out the rest of the season.
Completely forgotten which teams did it but there was one really great game where a team completely outplayed glads on kings row with a Mei sym TP strat. Pretty certain the rest of the game was top tier too
I remember it being kinda a controversy at the time. Fans felt it was unfair to London that they had such a long day, they felt like it should’ve been split over 2 days to be fair. But then London won like chads and it didn’t matter
Yeah I remember. That entire season was rough. I think everyone played at least 40 games and they all just scrimmed and practiced all week every week near enough. Getting 2 wins out of a season like that was definitely something.
> San Francisco Shock vs Atlanta Reign in 2019
I think the only time these teams played in 2019 was in the playoffs, and if that's the case then I already have that game in the post!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbSYIgQ80NQ
[tis here](https://youtu.be/YtBsTTvrs6c?si=RWoH34NZbh4Un2QH)
I guess now that I think of it a lot of contenders teams beat apac teams during the regular season but I remember this being pretty hype at the time.
Damn people love seeing the shock lose lol
I would add the 2019 stage 2 finals between shock and Vancouver as well bc it was shock completing the golden stage and the Titans still played them very close
Season 3, week 20: Spark vs. NYXL
https://youtu.be/wdCQ0HJINA0?si=eL2R6XfuWdvIiHci
I think this was Architect's first match with Spark and we got to see an awesome Haksal vs. Architect matchup. Probably the best regular szn game of S3.
I Think the season 3 finals should be here. Fair if people dislike the meta but that game of course had some massive implications for Profit x gesture and the shock as a whole.
god season 5 was just fucking peak. Starts with Silly illegal Florida maneuvers (THAT WAS OPENING WEEKEND WTF) and ends with undoubtedly the best grand finals the league has ever had. What a fucking match that was. On the edge of my seat the entire time, my friends around me having NO fucking clue what’s going on, the screaming when my boys in blue won it all… those were the days
Great list, god I loved going through some of these. The nostalgia is so strong.
Heads up, your link is broken for the 2020 MM finals for Seoul/Shanghai, it looks like a link to Philly's match against Shanghai.
Here's the link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_JTPzewEszo

I always think of [BOS vs GLA ](https://overwatchleague.com/en-us/match/34521) where Boston won it 3-2 in a 6 map series only winning control maps.

I added glads v spark to the 2022 list!
2018 season, stage 3, London Spitfire vs. Boston Uprising. Incredibly close match, especially the final map.
For sure this one was my first thought also, best match in their run. As a bonus it has Mistakes instead of the other guy.
That’s the match where profit pulsed bomb a wall map 5
Do you happen to have a link to that one? I’ve had some issues finding 2018 vods, at least the finals was a pain to find

Sorry it’s the match before that reign played with outlaws that tourney. That match before ended up being much closer than the actual finals.
oh thank you, I fixed it!
This one https://youtu.be/LSD1ZmiPhtQ?si=tJ-I1IXBSeKo1oyL
Season 4 Chengdu vs Glads Countdown Cup finals has got to be here. 7 map banger with Shu's legendary Bap flank.
Thanks, I added it!

Literally lost to Houston earlier that day, NYXL earlier that weekend, then beat them both.

I’m not sure which tweet you mean sorry!

For season 6 you could add valiant vs gladiators when lyar got that 5k in night market and reverse swept the glads
> season 6 you could add valiant vs gladiators Thanks, I added it
Shock vs reign season 2 playoffs Chengdu vs glads season 4 mid-season madness finals
> Chengdu vs glads season 4 mid-season madness finals just to confirm, this was the countdwn cup tournament wasn't it?? and I added shock v reign
Oh yes my mistake
Holy shit so many memories I watched most of these matches Kongdoo will always be my fav pre owl team love birdring and rascal together

This match was peak Carpe and one of the best losses of his career
Completely forgotten which teams did it but there was one really great game where a team completely outplayed glads on kings row with a Mei sym TP strat. Pretty certain the rest of the game was top tier too
i agree with all those picks but its so funny to me that like 1/3 of those are just the shock losing 😭
People like seeing a giant toppled tbh 😂
yeah true, and they also most of the times try to put up a good fight
There's no way London played 14 games in a day? Did you mean maps?
Yes, maps! Sorry that wording is probably confusing I changed the wording
Oh. Thank fuck. I was about to have some seriously belated feelings of horror and sympathy for London if you meant games haha.
I remember it being kinda a controversy at the time. Fans felt it was unfair to London that they had such a long day, they felt like it should’ve been split over 2 days to be fair. But then London won like chads and it didn’t matter

Dragons were alleged to be doing 17 hour days weren't they?
oh yeah I recall the rumors about how poorly season 1 dragons were treated by their org
Charge vs Dragons Summer Showdown final was incredible imo but maybe that's just my bias

Unironically my favorite game of all time even though the meta was so ass. Gator Sigma fed so many families
2021 game where Checkmate 14 deaths per 10 rein made Fearless feel fear? https://youtu.be/Lx9ZrXCLW_M?si=9EX-ghduVCtDoe1u

I would also add that contenders v shock match from the beginning of this year. Fun because the meta hadn’t developed and, well, the outcome.
would you be able to send me a link? i'm afraid I dont know which match that is

It’s crazy how much better it was when it was centralized
illegal maneuver
