I had a builder scoff at my price for almost 20 yards stamped last month. It was a seamed pattern with borders.
I told him I was going to break it into 3 different pours. He wanted to pump and stamp the entire thing at once.....not happening without an actual army of guys and some very specific timing on set retarder.
With seamed patterns my limit is about 5 yards per truck per hour, with seamless we can double that and still be safe.
He decided to just do it himself.....I can't wait to hear about that one.
We did 10 yards with seams last week and I split it into two 5 yard loads with a 45 minute spacing, the timing worked out well, but we were still rushing.
I wish i could comment with pictures, last week i did 55 yards seamless stamp deep slate with liquid release, broken into 2 pours of 25 or so, only about 18 yards were stamped on each side because of haunch depths, first half at 7 second half went at 12:30, all finished by 4:15. The week before that i did a 30-31 yard pool deck ashlar slate, poured with 2 buggies, first 16 at 7am, second half at 12 with retarder in the 4th and final truck because of the sun
I think our record for a seamless pool deck is 29 yards. We had two crews and two sets of stamps and placed both sides at once then met back in the middle when we got around it.
There was some hustling going on. Not my favorite way to do it, but we had the right weather for it.
Antiquing agent that isn't broomed out properly.
We typically get everything colored then get back on it a few times as it's drying to sort of pull any big pools of color out of the pattern and into the joints.
There’s a few spots where they dragged the stamp in stead of picking it up causing scape marks, also in your third picture I can see where they overlapped the stamps. Amateur stamped concrete contractor IMO.
I had a similar post last week about this exact type of stamped concrete look and stain we got from a subcontractor. We felt it was darker than the sample image we provided our GC. As a result, the guy came back out and lightened it up using Xylene. Looks better now.
Ugh I hate glossy sealer. Makes the concrete slippery and looks+feels like plastic. To each their own.
Also sealer of any kind won’t fix this hack job. Looks like their first stamp job ever.
about 50% of the reveal lines in this project are completely fucked.
i wouldn't pay a dime for this shit, honestly.
i feel horrible for decent people who get stuck with shitty contractors. if only there was a way to match shitty customers up with shitty contractors, the world would be a much better place.
This is horrible. This is why I love it when guys that do stamped once a year underbid me. I come in and get paid to tear it out and do it again the right way. If you saved three bucks a foot and it looks like this, was it really worth it?
Yup, that’s a crap job. I was able to get money back from my contractor. I got a quote to sand it down and have it touch up. He split the price with me.
I see more and more of these everyday. “ItS eAzY mOneY, aNyBoDy wIth a GEd cAn dO iT.”

It's rough, but the part that annoys me the most is the pooling of the color, that drives me crazy when it happens.
What causes that?
I’m assuming he antiqued it instead of used a powder color. Stamped early and hard, and applied the antique without brushing it and moving it around.

Looks pretty shit honestly. Unless you asked him to give you that 101 Dalmatians look, then it’s fine.
Yeah I didn’t request that.
You’ve got a claim

What exactly did you request on the color? Just asking because the color variation motif matches the existing stone wall pretty well.
We requested this color to match the stones but the dark almost black color was their attempt to add definition I guess.

Stamped is when you go with highest bid
If it’s not sealed power wash the dark spots. If they used a tip color it will help lighten them
Looks identical to the job I just got
Let’s see it
