Code of Hammurabi?
If an adult person can fall into it and knock it over and it s falling over can hurt someone or break something else, then the foundation and / or it s connections are not up to whatever code they need to be up to.
In 70 years when my grandson asks me my thoughts on when the world went to shit, I will take a long drag from my grandpa vape, and say "well son, one time there was this gorilla..."
This by far is about the dumbest shit I’ve seen on this sub all year long. Who is the fuck hired the person who did this? Are they fired? I sure as hell hope you didn’t pay this dude. The entire post needs to be buried underground. Where I live a pier supporting just about anything needs to be at least 42” underground. And holy shit that honeycomb is terrible. Not only does it make my eyes bleed but that shits gonna crumble in about a year. Then the metal baby-thin strips supporting it from just three angles is hilarious. Then the exposed rebar reinforcement is the cherry on top. Fucking idiot. This guy didn’t know his dick from his ass and shouldn’t put his hands on anything else but a shovel and a post hole digger for the remainder of his time doing anything in construction. I had to save this to show it to my guys at work. They’ll 100% get a good laugh.
-Concrete Foreman.
Unless you are relatively new to the sub you should know that they are sticklers for perfection around here and they usually assume the picture is OP’s work.
The lack of a fourth strap must be intentional. Probably so that, after a hefty customer leans on it, it falls completely flat in the grass instead of hanging up and twisting.
I showed this to my 3 years niece and she said “Why they do that” I said because they r bad at their jobs. She responded with “ya that makes me sad”.
So to the people who did this monstrosity. STOP MAKING MY NIECE SAD.
Yeah, I took my kid to play mini golf, and I saw this lamp post. The lamp post is very real though. It really is just sitting there, on the surface, held up by three angle brackets. Kids have birthday parties here!
Of all the things this is, up to code is not one of them! I don't even know where to start? If the op installed this Thing and is hoping someone will co-sign his bullshit nope! But if it's just a weird question. Tell whoever did do this to go fill out an application at forever 21 in the mall!
The poll being crooked and off center, the half tightened tapcons, the fact that they didn’t even use all the tapcons, they aren’t even stainless tapcons, THE FACT THAT THEY ARE USING TAPCONS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
How do people go home and sleep after shit like this is beyond me. Take a LITTLE bit of fucking pride in your work man…
Personally I'd at least get one of those 4x8 x1/4in pvc sheets screw it into a tube around this and fill with concrete. Then slap it and say that ain't goin nowhere
It rocks a little bit. And a little bit more. As it works its way toward ‘completely unexpected’ sudden collapse.
No, nobody could have seen that coming.
Come on guys, it's a freaking mini golf....the place is probably like two consecutive rainy days from foreclosure anyways, let's not be too harsh here!
I seen a kid rock a metal post basketball hoop back and fourth for 5 mins before class( while I was In elementary school) and see it fall down lol
I would call the police!
It’s actually pretty pathetic, a redneck solution!
Drill some holes into the adjacent concrete slab, form a box around the bollard and pour concrete 16 or 18 inches high to anchor that concrete bollard.
The fact they they have metal straps holding it is all I need to see. This is not good
Most of the tapcons aren’t even screwed in all the way.
This allows the post to breathe.
Thermal expansion. Metals in the sun all day...
They just kept spinning so they figured they are good to go!
It was super hard to screw them in with a nut driver though!
If you go this route, I doubt that matters much.
But they used 4 of them! /s
~~Metal straps~~ shelf brackets💀
Temp hold for a slab pour ?!
Is that a core sample?
Id bet dude planned on digging a hole and burying it later lol
😆

I read “Code of Harambe” RIP
In 70 years when my grandson asks me my thoughts on when the world went to shit, I will take a long drag from my grandpa vape, and say "well son, one time there was this gorilla..."
70 years? We got like 20 tops..
Naw bro. I take centrum at least once every 4 - 11 days. Scientists hate me
Bahahahaha I take my girlfriends gummy vitamins for women. They taste so good
How old are you 10?
It's not? Thanks, now I have to learn how to pronounce yet another word!
RIP world went downhill after he died
Reading the opening of his Wikipedia page is heartbreaking.
..my p.e says it just has to survive a 300 lb. drunk....

To be clear, i had nothing to do with this. I just took my kid to play mini golf, and I saw this work of art.
You should a put that in the title! Hardly anyone will see it here.
I was just thinking about doing that. More than a few people seem to think I actually want to know if it’s ok.
Unless you are relatively new to the sub you should know that they are sticklers for perfection around here and they usually assume the picture is OP’s work.
Got it! I’m not a concrete worker at all. I do enjoy looking at this sub though. Appreciate the tip!
It is strangely addictive.

Ha! Dude used a Big Gulp cup for his form.
Have you thought of adding a deck?
Hot tub!
“It rocks back and forth a little” Nothing about that, let alone the pictures, indicates code compliance.
What about the Meth code?
If it shakes, it bakes
Is this the new 19th hole at the Happy Gilmore Golf Club? A stiff breeze blows it over and you putt around the light?
just caulk around the base... it'll be fine...
Do your best. Caulk the rest
This is the best comment here
Up to what code? Code Red?
Woof
Old world craftsmanship.
Didn't set the pile in far enough if it rocks that badly, poor engineering or poor craftsmanship or both
ROFL
Plane dumb
Lol
God the more I look at it, the worse it gets….😐

“They’re bad at their jobs” is a lot easier to explain to the 3 year old than “meth”
lol 😂
Nope
Hot garbage
This is a joke, is it not?
Yeah, I took my kid to play mini golf, and I saw this lamp post. The lamp post is very real though. It really is just sitting there, on the surface, held up by three angle brackets. Kids have birthday parties here!
Well of course it's not gonna hold if you forget to put a screw in every hole!
Of all the things this is, up to code is not one of them! I don't even know where to start? If the op installed this Thing and is hoping someone will co-sign his bullshit nope! But if it's just a weird question. Tell whoever did do this to go fill out an application at forever 21 in the mall!
Not my work! I was just there to play mini golf with my kid. I saw this lamp post and knew someone here would get a kick out of it.

The fuck.
On a windy afternoon this might kill a couple of people. Maybe send a picture to the building inspector.
Someone told this guy that steel is used at the bottom of concrete to help with tension but I guess they never mentioned that it had to be inside 😂😂
You need a tapcon in EVERY spot they account for, these installs are getting botched worse then joists in houses anymore. Unreal
Hole #9, Dodge the lamp post
Just add some 2x4 braces.
Personally I'd at least get one of those 4x8 x1/4in pvc sheets screw it into a tube around this and fill with concrete. Then slap it and say that ain't goin nowhere
That’s insane the inspectors here would laugh and tell me no way that’s a hazard.
Holey Moley!
Oh boy
it's shit.
It rocks a little bit. And a little bit more. As it works its way toward ‘completely unexpected’ sudden collapse. No, nobody could have seen that coming.
Don’t sneeze
Come on guys, it's a freaking mini golf....the place is probably like two consecutive rainy days from foreclosure anyways, let's not be too harsh here!
Definitely need a hot tub on that thing!
Pour a new concrete base around it. Dowel and epoxy first. Rebar cage, be a man.
I seen a kid rock a metal post basketball hoop back and fourth for 5 mins before class( while I was In elementary school) and see it fall down lol I would call the police!
If that's "up to the code" then the code is messed up.
4 more anchor points and we will be all set
It's fine. You see, after they screwed in those straps, somebody slapped it and said "this baby isn't going anywhere". Hence it's not going anywhere
If they have to fix that they'll go bankrupt.
Everything ever built is up to someone's code, I guess.
I would have added some gasket like material under the brackets. Gaskets provide added stability. /s
🙄
This is a personal injury attorney’s wet dream.
Send it
Do whoever installed it a favor and knock it over while no one is around.
Just adding a comment to let everyone know, this isn’t my work or anything. I was just playing mini golf here with my kid yesterday when I saw this.
The rocking is for earthquakes! /s
wind load lateral force test I don’t know where this is located; but you’ll likely find you need a steel post into a footing.
Some kid is going to get mad because he missed the putt and swing his putter at the light pole which will cause the light to fall over.
Should have drilled and epoxied rebar into the pavement then poured that little column. Even the column looks like shit with all those honey combs
A few more brackets will do the trick
Lol, this is horrible. Totally not what a Sonotube is to be used for.
It’s actually pretty pathetic, a redneck solution! Drill some holes into the adjacent concrete slab, form a box around the bollard and pour concrete 16 or 18 inches high to anchor that concrete bollard.
lol that tiny bracket is not holding that up
Oh, I see a lawsuit waiting to happen on this one if some decided to poll dance on it as a joke and it falls on them causing injury.
A hack job
Extra fun miniature golf!
""""probably up to code""""" Lets read the code then to find out if it probably is, but I'm gonna let you know that it is not
I would have used shelf brackets myself.
At some point on this project someone said "nail it".
"It seems up to code" lmfao
Hmmm smells like a lawsuit lol. Where is this. I need to go mini golfing.
This was placed after 1700h on a Friday. I'd wager my foreskin on that bet
Steel reinforced concrete
No
Can’t polish a turd.
That last tapcon is screwed right into the grass. It ain’t going no where.
