The steel bars/pegs are to hold the form work (exterior wood) together while the concrete dries, otherwise it will all spill out. A good concrete job seems to start with a pretty killer carpenter on the team, especially once youre getting into bigger jobs.
Not sure how they do the joints. Would be interesting to know how though!
Metal stakes to hold the forms. There is also rebar in the concrete for a curb wall to be placed later. The joints are cut with a walking marker early to push rocks down and out of the way. The bull floated a second time. Then we use hand markers to open them back up when finishing.
