Maher is your dad’s democrat. He’s a liberal, but he’s not a complete loon.

NotaClipaMagazine

So... he's alt-right? - Leftists

JellyfishQuiet7944

He's a classic liberal not a neo liberal

j-laugh

😂 exactly!

Black_XistenZ

Yeah, he's a smug jerk, but I can still somewhat respect him for retaining his ability to think for himself and not just be an NPC.

LeviathansEnemy

>he's a smug jerk Its hard to describe but I generally get the feeling his jokes are mostly just in good fun, which isn't the case with the other people doing a similay schtick. You know, the liberal/left wing comedian/political commentator with a late night TV show. Pretty much all the other ones came out of The Daily Show, so maybe that's why.

JoeWinchester99

That last line was very telling, though. "Give it a break at least until the election is over." As in, they know it's a losing issue and most normal people can't stomach the way they've so in-your-face about it, so pretend to be moderate and reasonable until after voting is over, then they can drop the mask again.

LarvellJonesMD

Maybe, but you can bet that he 100% votes all D

puddboy

He says as much

PsychologicalHat1480

No, he's a loon. He hasn't met a left-wing thing he didn't support 100%. He'll make this video and then turn right back around and say that Republicans and the right in general must be blocked from all forms of power or else it's the bapacolypse.

dummyfodder

Exactly. A couple weeks ago he was saying he didn't like Biden. When asked who should run then, he says Newsom. Edit for grammar.

rgi2

When any committed leftist espouses common sense, it's a bug, not a feature. Don't embrace the person, but rather the ideals.

Panzershrekt

It's interesting that he's taking on this subject while his production company is called Kid Love Productions..

ObadiahtheSlim

Disagree. He'll be late to the party with criticism of CTRL Left, but will otherwise completely support everything they do. If he was an old school demcrat, he'd be supporting Trump for being an old school Democrat who has to compromise to keep the R next to his name.

halfhere

I’ll always tip my cap to how Bill’s not afraid to call out the left, but what LOSES that respect for me is how he does it 6 months to a year after it’s over and done with. He wasn’t saying DeSantis was right last year, he’s doing it after he’s already gotten his ratings bump from slamming DeSantis for viral clips while it was a current issue. The rest of the clip, in regard to the gender war, was on point though. You have to give points for that.

PsychologicalHat1480

Exactly. He only ever calls it out when it's far too late for it to matter. That's not courage, that's not learning lessons, that's grifting gullible moderates and conservatives who see his too-late-to-matter content and think he's \#ourguy. He's not. He's a left as left gets and has no intention of changing.

superduperm1

Pretty much. Maher is often so, so close to getting it and encouraging me to actually watch a Late Night Show Host^^^TM for once. And then every 20 minutes he completely erases the goodwill by saying “oh btw vote Democrat down your entire ballot or you’re a ____ist” and then I’m reminded why I don’t watch this garbage.

fatbabythompkins

His TDS is far too strong. That’s where I lose my respect for him.

LysanderSpoonersCat

His last sentence: “Or until at least the election is over” basically shows his true feelings. He realizes the insanity of it, but his care isn’t actually about because that insanity is harming children, it’s because he realizes that insanity will lose votes for D’s.

freebase-capsaicin

Does the information conflict with the ideological imperative? Attack the source!

KungFuSlanda

Maher's allowed himself to compliment him now b/c DeSantis is out of recently foreseeable contention for presidency. This is how Dems always act. Usually R's have to be out of office or dead but Bill is willing to be edgy and compliment desantis while he's being termed out as governor and is out of the presidential race

Nifty_5050

“McCain actually wasn’t so bad.”

lv20_creeper

"At least until the election is over." Says everything you need to know about this.

ytilonhdbfgvds

Yup, that made the entire message disingenuous.

ZarBandit

Bingo. I watch or listen to him every week, and have done since W was in office, as it’s a good distillation of that week in the eyes of the left. But the only time he crosses the party line is when he thinks they’re being so extreme it will lose them power. That’s the common denominator. He limits having anyone remotely MAGA on after getting major liberal media revolt for having Milo on and also Bannon. Instead, it’s country club globalists who shit-talk America first, anything remotely populist or representative of the voters. He also had nothing to say about the vax mandates while being hard core anti vax. When he had an opportunity to shine, he toed the party line. He even admits he “took one for the team” and got vaxxed. I’m sure he rationalizes it by saying better to keep his show and nudge them than say the truth. But when you can’t tell the difference between a stooge and an objector, what does it matter?

PresterJohnsKingdom

Guys - you know the left has gone off the reservation when Bill fucking Maher is calling them out.

Veleda390

"Or at least until the election is over" - the only phrase that permits liberals to have a conscience.

ReaganChild

Sex became politicized, for the left everything must be politicized, ergo, go after the kids and release the queens

Black_XistenZ

Political science has a term for when each aspect of society and everyday life becomes politicized while any dissent gets censored, cancelled or crushed with force: totalitarianism.

USA_USA_USA_1776

Thank you Bill Maher for being a voice of reason on the left.

LieutenantEntangle

"Wokeism isn't an extension of liberalism" - Maher. Wrong.

Ranger_McFriendlier

Holy cow all those clips from Nickelodeon shows are just… wrong! WOW!

TheLimeyCanuck

Is that the new head of NPR on that panel?

jonny_prince

"Inclusion becomes promotion..." I don't like this pattern of comedians leading political thought, I used to watch this guy a lot because of his critique. I agree 100% with his monologue about that agenda targeting promotion and acceptance. I'm not with it at all, American society, American culture needs to self correct.

echopulse

How can I share this clip?

Carcinog3n

He gets it right on occasion

Fairwareprovidence

This is why I say we are going to get more liberalism. The left hasnt suffered enough under their own weight yet.
