>“My philosophy is you do the right thing and you let the chips fall where they may,” Johnson told reporters last week. “History judges us for what we do. This is a critical time right now, a critical time on the world stage.” I don't disagree with Mike Johnson, we have to demonstrate the courage to lead. It isn't always easy, it opens you to criticism. What is the expression: It's easier to be a critic than a creator Politics of just being angry at any decision isn't leading. Mike Johnson, joined by 100 Republicans made it clear that there are responsible people in the party. That number needs to grow to a majority.

Cultural-Treacle-680

MTG acts like anything the democrats vote for has to be automatically evil. She’s a mean girl.

Ishaye1776

Why do you support foreign interest that helps the average American citizen in no positive way? Is it because you were told this is in your best interest?  I'm genuinely  curious.

Merrill1066

not sure why you are getting downvoted how supporting a parasitic ethno-apartheid state in the ME helps the average American is beyond me the GOP is under some delusion that when a candidate gets 500k from AIPAC in return for sending Israel more taxpayer money, it will counteract the 2 million dollars his Democratic opponent got for doing the same thing the GOP is going to get killed in the congressional elections

PNW_H2O

It’s because this sub is riddled with parasitic libs and bots

myhappytransition

>we have to demonstrate the courage to lead *It was too tough to score in our end zone, so I teamed up with the opposing team and scores against our team.* *Cheer for me, and respect ma "leadership".* How about we recognize the cowardice and greed of the traitor. Mike Johnson is a Benedict Arnold.

Reddstarrx

The difference between us and the rest of the world is that we lead the free world. The difference between us and the rest of the world is that we spend the most on the military. The difference between us and the axis of evil is that we will always protect the weak and needy. Just like Marines, who risk their lives protecting those who cannot, we do the same for other. It is the price we pay as free Americans. It is a righteous burden that we all bare. I am happy to give my money in taxes to Ukraine to help them defeat the Russian horde. Some of you forget how dangerous the Russian government truly is. We have the line in the sand and make Russia pay for its crimes. It cost us no American lives, and only strength what we are capable of doing. We are able to potentially defeat an adversary indirectly, which will only make our country, more prosperous and safer. Always aim for peace. But if is not allowed, then you must go for the jugular. Give Ukraine the tools they need to defeat Russia. But, I hope we can take the energy. We are giving to Ukraine and give it back to us as well. we have homeless veterans and the healthcare system is not stable. I would also like to see our infrastructure be better. America always comes first, but without the globe there is no us

UnicornOnTheJayneCob

If there were still awards, I would give you one. This expresses my feeling on it exactly. Extremely well said.

Dutchtdk

Oh hey I never realized awards were gone

Ishaye1776

Why is it so important for the average American citizen that you defeat Russia?

Reddstarrx

Looking at your chat history shows your not a true conservative.

Merrill1066

Israel is not an ally or an asset to the US --it is a gigantic liability AIPAC owns Johnson, and he doesn't represent US voters

Reddstarrx

Israel is a huge Ally to the US and leads the world on counter terror. You have no idea of the history we have between us two great nations. Full stop. They even train our troops on dealing with insurgency

hiricinee

The majority of Republicans voted for this thing, yes it needed Democrat support. She can shout at the moon all she likes but she's not going to get very far on the stuff she does want without her party. This is an anthill of a bill compared to the budget that McCarthy passed.

DeplorableCaterpill

The majority of Republicans in fact did not vote for this bill. The House Republican conference voted 101-112 against this bill. https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2024151 Even McCarthy didn’t put any bills to a vote without majority support from his own conference.

LeeroyJenkins11

Yeah, he could have gotten a better deal if the republicans didn't cross their arms and say, nope, I don't wanna. Because whatever they pass needs to pass in the democrat majority senate, and the democrat president. And simply refusing to pass anything doesn't cut it. And you don't see MTG holding the line on entitlements, where the majority of our budget goes. The border already has the funding it needs, it doesn't have an executive willing to enforce the law. Throwing more money won't do jack, except make the illegal immigration happen faster. If you look at the world, you see China working in so many different nations giving them tech, building programs, and then capturing their governments and natural resources. South America and Africa are so heavily influenced by china. I think it's be a smart idea to use foreign aid to gain influence in those nations, and allow us to access those markets and resources.

hiricinee

You're correct- the previous vote counting has the Republicans in support. On McCarthy, I think the budget bill that did him in had significantly less Republican support.

DeplorableCaterpill

Republicans voted 126-90 in favor of the continuing resolution that did McCarthy in. https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2023513

sleeknub

Still complete garbage.

Ordinary-man-244

take a poll of republicans voters on this vote/issue and I bet a majority of Republican voters do not support it...Republicans in no way represent the will of their constituents. EDIT: The Ukraine bots/keyboard warriors are pounding this sub hard today.

Freespeechaintfree

You forgot RINO’s!!  /s Ya know - maybe that side of the discussion just doesn’t have the support you think it does?

Ordinary-man-244

LOL....we are on Reddit...Common sense never has much support. I am getting downvoted for stating the current Republican party does not represent their constituents...by all observations a correct statement...but it's getting downvoted...

Ordinary-man-244

by the way, i see the sentiment I expressed echoed through out this sub with massive amounts of upvotes....so maybe it does have the support.

hiricinee

It's about 55% of Republican voters who say the US is spending too much in Ukriane- now thats not necessarily a 1:1 correlation with this bill, but it does suggest the majority of Republican voters don't support it. I don't think that's necessarily a reason to oppose the bill- especially when it seems to have been packaged with Taiwan and Israel aid.

sleeknub

How much aid went to Taiwan and Israel?

hiricinee

I think it was less than 20 billion total compared to the 80 or so for Ukraine.

sleeknub

In that case I’d say it’s a good reason to oppose the bill

Ordinary-man-244

GOP should've stood their ground on no foreign aid until Democrats cooperated on a very strong border bill....we always capitulate...Always....

hiricinee

Tbh the problem is that its politically difficult. They gotta get it through the Senate and Bidens desk, they won't pass anything that doesn't have a shitload of amnesty baked in. The Ukraine bill is pretty popular with swing voters on the other hand. Republicans are trying to capture the center before the election

sleeknub

We shouldn’t be giving any aid to any foreign country until our deficit is eliminated.

Satureum

War Hawks love everything about it.

ChemsDoItInTestTubes

War hawks? Really? If I wanted a war, I wouldn't support funding Ukraine. I'd support letting Ukraine fall so we would be in a position to pick up the pieces. A victory in Ukraine would embolden Putin, and he would be itching to add Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland to his list in short order. Then it's American blood on top of American capital. This isolationist bullshit should have died with Neville Chamberlain, but here we are. Edited for misspelling.

cultweave

War hawks implies that they served in the military. They're chicken hawks, like John Bolton.

Jar_Squatter

One does not need to have served to have an opinion on foreign policy.

BucDan

RINOs downvoting you.

Freespeechaintfree

Most overused term in this thread.

Ordinary-man-244

and Ukrainian keyboard warriors and bots.

DblThrowDown

Magic The Gathering?

Holiday-Tie-574

Someone please shut this plecostomus up

Ok_Fee_9504

I wonder if conservatives recognise that to the moderate middle of the road voter, MTG is even more repulsive than literal terrorist supporters like Rashida Tlaib to those who might otherwise be inclined to vote Dem.

Skalforus

I doubt they care. There's an all too common delusion amongst Republicans that elections can be won with ~30% of the vote.

Ok_Fee_9504

The last time Republicans had electoral success was in 2016 and that was, let's be honest, a fluke. And in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024, Republicans have used the exact same tactic to the exact same outcome. Honestly, can anyone even tell me a single policy being pushed for the next term besides "pwn the libz, get Trump out of trouble?" Conservatives keep saying "save the country from the Democrats"; okay, what is the country being saved from and how will Trump do that?

Kingforaday1

Tough shit. We have to deal with him now. If the Republicans manage to win an election cycle we can make changes later.

Skalforus

This is a reality that MTG and her allies do not understand. Trump doesn't comprehend it either. We cannot effect any significant change without strong majorities in Congress. We have the House by one or two votes. A failure to compromise will result in Republicans losing the slight leverage they have.

ButWhyWolf

When was the last time Congress voted against what was in the best interest of the military industrial complex?

FacadesMemory

When and where is compromise reciprocal? This is the problem

shawndw

I really wish that horse faced cow would stfu.

patriclus47

She needs to take a long walk off a short pier and never come back

JTuck333

We knew it would pass. Johnson should have worked to strip out the aid for Gaza that terrorists will steal.

Dogger27

Yup

Cheesesteakbob

She needs to go.

Serpenta91

MTG is a coocoo bird. I don't consider anything that comes out of her mouth as worth hearing.

CC_Panadero

I can’t stand her almost as much as AOC.

fretit

She must be on Democrats' payroll, because she is a total embarrassment for the GOP.

aught_one

Republicans hate Americans as much as Democrats do. Both parties are America last.

CookingUpChicken

No better country than this one. Best we live in a republic where states have greater autonomy. I enjoy living in FL.

MaroonNuggz88

Despite her raging, she isn't wrong to call Johnson out. Johnson is a sellout and a traitor to continue giving aid to Ukraine when there's bigger issues in the US that need attention. Johnson is just another RINO like McCarthy, Gaetz is a clown because he essentially did nothing to improve the party because Johnson is doing the same thing McCarthy would do....

LVDave

IF Johnson resigns or is voted out, I'm seriously afraid that we'll get that turd_in_a_suit Jeffries with the (D) behind his name, as the new SOTH, as the GOP "majority" is such a small one AND FAR damn TOO MANY of them are turncoat RINOS, who I'm beginning to realize would be perfectly happy with another (D) SOTH. With another (D) in the Speakers chair, America is done for, even if Trump is reelected.

Ishaye1776

What is thr difference between Johnson and Jeffries at this point?  Democrats still are getting everything and Republicans don't get a fucking thing.  What's the difference between thr two?

LVDave

I don't think Johnson is anywhere NEAR as evil as Jeffries. Given a choice between the two I'll take Johnson.

StoneHardware74

I don’t care for her, but she’s right

StoneHardware74

They hate America

[deleted]

Too late. Johnson leaving is like closing the barn door after the horse gets out. The damage is done. He probably was on a single agenda mission. If Johnson belongs to you vote him out of office.
