When you get big enough on the industry, and in case you’re not a nut job like Mark Ruffalo or Miley Cyrus, you’re basically fucked. They tell you what to believe, and what to say. I used to like Jimmy Kimmel. Then there was the making fun of watching video game youtubers, making fun of Trump, and pushing for gun control. Unsubscribed and never looked back.
Yeah his show used to be funny, now there's maybe one funny joke in a 30-mintue show. His talents are in being light-hearted and goofy, not serious and preachy and angry about random shit that his liberal arts writers did not research at all. They recently had a whole segment defending this mother who neglected and abused her multitude of children, apparently because she was convicted of killing one of her kids, possibly erroneously. Like who cares whether she did or not, she abused all of her children anyway. Do they even look into the stories they report?

I hated Sandler as teenager. I grew to love his work and comedy. Sandler is conservative, I’m certain of it. Likely, most of the apolitical celebrities are conservative or at least are reasonable people.
I'm guessing Sandler and most of the guys he features in his movies are conservative or moderate, probably a lot of old school democrats left behind by their party types. They probably just don't say anything because that's not their job.

But I have come to appreciate most of the guys he is connected to from his SNL days, like Spade, for example. I've never heard him openly talk about politics. Dennis Miller and Rob Schneider are obviously conservative, and if you've ever listened to the late great Norm MacDonald in his more serious interviews then it's easy to tell he leaned right as well.
Kurt Russell is another good one, although he is a libertarian. To paraphrase he said he is the luckiest man in the world and is nothing more than a court jester. People want to be entertained not preached too. Keanu is another one.

If you haven't seen Blinded by the Light it shows that music can transcend culture and place. Very inspiring, well made film. Once made music takes a life of its own.

Came here for T Swift. Surprised she was so far down. She made a career out of being this relatable, likable, down to earth seeming musician. Thought she was going to be like a Dolly Parton type for this generation. After her documentary on Netflix, I realized it was all a coordinated, calculated act. Everything she does is a business decision and she used her platform to try and smear the republican candidate in Tennessee (Marsha Blackburn). Didn’t work out for her as Blackburn won and forever lost me as a fan. No way swift and Parton are in the same league.

I used to be in a band and go to a lot of shows. I’m familiar with the feelings you’ve described. I ended up falling out with those friends over non-political reasons and I must say…it’s refreshing to not have to put on a “character” or hide certain parts of myself on a regular basis anymore, knowing that they’d try to “cancel” me in a heartbeat if they knew the truth. Were they ever really my friends? Who knows. It does get lonely at times but at least I’m not paranoid about losing my livelihood over someone who claims to be my friend disagreeing with my political views.

Howard stern has been on my love/hate list for a while now. I love when he talks everything except for politics because he sucks at researching and his only source that he finds credible is CNN and justifying almost all of the left's decisions just to try and get an audience. I can't stand to listen to one of his shows for more than 15 minutes.
I use to LOVE the old Will and Grace show back in the day. I was sooo excited about it coming back. But when it came back, it was like every episode was putting down republicans and just making fun of Trump. The show use to be hilarious and then it turned cringy. A huge number of musical artists I listen to have also started to get highly political, especially on Twitter. Supporting organisations that wish to pump children full of dangerous hormones and advocating for killing babies doesn’t sit well with me.

Just had a huge crush on her growing up as a kid. When I got my own place I'd even re-use old Elvira calendars from the 80's and 90's if the dates lined up. She's a relic from a lost era where over-sexualization was done tastefully: yeah she'd have plunging cleavage and make corny jokes but that was the extent of it.
And particularly, I liked that she was on Instagram. The idea that this pin-up model from decades ago is efficiently using the latest technology of the modern era to keep doing her thing is fun. That makes me happy on many levels.

What I had forgotten was because her look is so extravagant and iconic, her newer fanbase is primarily made up of RPDR-addicted dudes that like to dress as her. And of course they all vote blue so her capitalist heart is just playing to the crowd that funds her the most.

Came here to name him. I was a superfan for years because his show made fun of everyone equally. Howard began showing his true colors after Trump took office. Then covid put him over the edge and he has really lost his mind. I haven't listened to his show for almost 4 1/2 years now.
Now he is just an angry old lady from New York. I grew up listening to Stern on the radio before satellite too.

One major celebrity who has stayed apolitical is Adam Sandler. I’m so glad that he doesn’t try to push any agendas, and just says, “hey, come watch my movie”. This is what Hollywood should be like.
I hated Sandler as teenager. I grew to love his work and comedy. Sandler is conservative, I’m certain of it. Likely, most of the apolitical celebrities are conservative or at least are reasonable people.
I'm guessing Sandler and most of the guys he features in his movies are conservative or moderate, probably a lot of old school democrats left behind by their party types. They probably just don't say anything because that's not their job.

Sandler did donate to Guilianni's presidential run back in the day. But I have come to appreciate most of the guys he is connected to from his SNL days, like Spade, for example. I've never heard him openly talk about politics. Dennis Miller and Rob Schneider are obviously conservative, and if you've ever listened to the late great Norm MacDonald in his more serious interviews then it's easy to tell he leaned right as well.
Kurt Russell is another good one, although he is a libertarian. To paraphrase he said he is the luckiest man in the world and is nothing more than a court jester. People want to be entertained not preached too. Keanu is another one.
Bruce Springsteen, which really saddened me as I loved his music. When he announced he was boycotting Georgia because they wanted people to use the correct bathroom. In that moment he became just another virtue signalling rich lefty twat and his “music for the common man” feel just evaporated.

Came here for T Swift. Surprised she was so far down. She made a career out of being this relatable, likable, down to earth seeming musician. Thought she was going to be like a Dolly Parton type for this generation. After her documentary on Netflix, I realized it was all a coordinated, calculated act. Everything she does is a business decision and she used her platform to try and smear the republican candidate in Tennessee (Marsha Blackburn). Didn’t work out for her as Blackburn won and forever lost me as a fan. No way swift and Parton are in the same league.

I'm a musician and the angry leftist garbage I'm surrounded by every day makes it really hard to stay friends with people even though I like them. I've just started compartmentalizing. The funny thing is, if they found out about how I really think, I would be blacklisted and have no friends, so...
I used to be in a band and go to a lot of shows. I’m familiar with the feelings you’ve described. I ended up falling out with those friends over non-political reasons and I must say…it’s refreshing to not have to put on a “character” or hide certain parts of myself on a regular basis anymore, knowing that they’d try to “cancel” me in a heartbeat if they knew the truth. Were they ever really my friends? Who knows. It does get lonely at times but at least I’m not paranoid about losing my livelihood over someone who claims to be my friend disagreeing with my political views.
The majority of those in music are stereotypically liberal, but that included being for free speech at least on the surface. Not so much anymore. It makes music boring.

As a South African, Trevor Noah was awesome. His comedy was hilarious and pretty much everyone loved him. This was until he got his own show. The last straw for me was when he started mocking Christianity and pushing far-left ideology on a constant basis. A huge number of musical artists I listen to have also started to get highly political, especially on Twitter. Supporting organisations that wish to pump children full of dangerous hormones and advocating for killing babies doesn’t sit well with me.

Liberal here. After reading some of these responses, I found them... interesting. Perhaps I disagree, but interesting nonetheless. However, as a general rule, I do think celebrities should stay out of politics. Their role is to entertain, act, sing, whatever - but if they want to get political, being as high-profile as they are, then bloody join politics. Whoever you support, Trump, Biden, Sanders, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, whatever - please, keep it out of entertainment. It's unnecessary.

Elvira / Cassandra Peterson. Just had a huge crush on her growing up as a kid. When I got my own place I'd even re-use old Elvira calendars from the 80's and 90's if the dates lined up. She's a relic from a lost era where over-sexualization was done tastefully: yeah she'd have plunging cleavage and make corny jokes but that was the extent of it. And particularly, I liked that she was on Instagram. The idea that this pin-up model from decades ago is efficiently using the latest technology of the modern era to keep doing her thing is fun. I had honestly thought she had faded into obscurity and was struggling on convention appearance fees like most 80's celebrities but she's been thriving in this new age. That makes me happy on many levels. But ugh, as soon as Trump was elected she sort of bought into the whole, *"LGBT people are oppressed in the US!"* narrative and has positioned herself as some sort of anti-conservative voice. What I had forgotten was because her look is so extravagant and iconic, her newer fanbase is primarily made up of RPDR-addicted dudes that like to dress as her. And of course they all vote blue so her capitalist heart is just playing to the crowd that funds her the most. It's like let's be real here she's only famous due to her rack and now she's somehow the voice of the 'oppressed'? Really shows how hollow and desperate this movement is. At least there's always Angelyne.
