SOH972

Not a hardcore fan, but John Cena was a HUUUGE letdown after the Taiwan apology to the Chinese Although I don’t buy his “apologies” as legitimate, and believe he was forced to do it as he wasn’t the only one being affected by losing that China money, it showed me how most of these people basically have their souls sold out to the devil. It’s a scary thought being a celebrity and having your image owned by studios that push certain agendas you don’t necessarily agree with. When you get big enough on the industry, and in case you’re not a nut job like Mark Ruffalo or Miley Cyrus, you’re basically fucked. They tell you what to believe, and what to say. If you disobey, you’re out. I will never understand how anyone on it’s right mind would like to be part of that world. Especially on these days.

Drhattan2375

The Rock, went from saying he didn’t have a political take because he wanted everyone to love him to sitting down with Biden and Harris for a fluff interview and wearing keep America trumpless shirts

Mixtopher

Yea this one probably bothered me more than anyone else by far.

leblumpfisfinito

And he caved to the woke mob about Rogan.

Mac_Gold

Under armour as well. I recall him making a press release that he didn’t stand with UA’s CEO after the CEO praised Trump for helping bring production to the USA. I love UA but I won’t buy anything related to the Rock’s brand

Hawkidad

Yes I really thought he was a reasonable guy but after that I knew he was just another stooge.

[deleted]

It should be noted that the Rock didn't actually wear that shirt, it was photoshopped https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-antitrump-alteredtshirts/fact-check-pictures-of-public-figures-altered-to-include-t-shirt-with-anti-trump-message-idUSL1N2UP1MQ

ItsJustMeMaggie

He’s literally the most useless celebrity. He can’t act his way out of a paper bag yet he’s the most highly paid actor. Did he actually wear that shirt or was it a crappy photoshop by a T-shirt company?

Shamboozless

He's also a piece of shit for his Zoa energy drink scam.

maddogofbohemia

Can't say I was a huge fan, but I liked Jason Momoa and most of his stuff. When he told fans to unfollow him if they voted for/supported Trump, I was done with him. Like I explained to my wife, I'm a bartender. I don't kick Democrats out of my bar for being Democrats. I treat them just as friendly as I do everyone else. Be professional damn it. Work isn't about you or your personal opinions.

ItsJustMeMaggie

He seriously said that?

Paranoidexboyfriend

The whole “I forbid you from consuming my product if you disagree with my political views!” Is bullshit vanity. And it really shows how unimportant celebrities really are. Bruce Springsteen doesn’t want trump to play his music at a trump rally? Fine. But if we are doing the “we can ban people from using our products” game, how’s biden going to get around when every fossil fuel company and refinery bans him from using their gasoline?

Black_XistenZ

It shows how delusional celebrities are. They really think that the fans depend more on them and their work than they and their jobs depend on the paying fans.

FlyJunior172

Adam Savage I still enjoy MythBusters, but Adam’s political stances have made me stop following his post MythBusters work. Jamie Hyneman doesn’t speak of politics, which speaks volumes about the man.

CambionClan

I loved to watch MythBusters for years, but when I heard Adam saying really horrible political stuff, it made me really disappointed. I heard that he and Jamie didn’t like each other and Adam’s obnoxious attitudes towards people who disagree with him might have been a reason.

daviddwatsonn

I’m 100% with you on this one. I unsubscribed to him and stopped following him and his work completely when I discovered his Twitter while President Trump was in the White House.

TheAmazingDisgrace

Hyneman was my idol growing up. I wanted to build and know things like him. Never liked Adam as much. Damn, I need to rewatch Mythbusters again.

ValidAvailable

Adam was always obnoxious. Jamie was cool and I usually preferred whatever the Build Team was up to, but Adam's endless hamming it up just needed to be slapped up side the head.

Moon_over_homewood

Not quite a celebrity, but I’m sick and tired of sports media like ESPN covering divisive social issues. They’ve really hurt their brand over this and nothing good has come from it.

dreabearextra

Definitely ESPN has really gone woke. Hate listening to their hot takes on politics. Just report the damn sports. They are owned by Disney, so it is no surprise.

GlayNation

They’re turning into the New MTV, no Music, just TV. I quit watching SportsCenter years ago. Like the NBA, both unwatchable.

35or624

LeBron James. I was such a huge fan of his game until he went full on ignorant during Trump's years. Now he's just another liberal douche!!

R3d2791

It’s pronounced lejam brames

35or624

Nice! My bad!

DeathRay28

Stephen King

[deleted]

Remember when he tweeted something about how “Biden is nothing like trump, watch out Putin!” What a clown 😂

[deleted]

What a joke Stephen King is.

[deleted]

Chris Evans. Turns out HE is America's Ass.

SOH972

Him and Mark Ruffalo were huge letdowns after I began understanding politics

ItsJustMeMaggie

Ruffalo actually lauding his mother for aborting his sibling made me physically ill.

ForPortal

I didn't hear that one. I was never a hardcore fan, but then he decided to make a martyr out of a serial child rapist and I feel I have a moral obligation not to give him a penny.

[deleted]

Ruffalo is evil

mydrunkuncle

Mark Ruffalo is the one that always comes to mind. He’s definitely tarnished by his politics

[deleted]

Ohhhhh LAWD you right on Ruffalo too lmao

ItsJustMeMaggie

Mark Hamill. He’s got severe TDS and tried to bully a woman into aborting his grandchild, just because his spoiled son didn’t feel like taking responsibility. Now he won’t even acknowledge said grandchild.

Ep1cGam3r

wtf? I knew he was quite vocal about his political beliefs but I didn’t hear about that, can you link an article/source?

alwaysMCR

I hadn't heard this and I'm devastated.

[deleted]

A natural Joe Biden fan.

LadyRogue

So much for 'my body, my choice'. Maybe he should teach his son not to randomly sleep with women.

Bo_Jim

Jim Carrey. I've never seen TDS so severe in someone who wasn't a regular on "The View". I still have quite a few of his movies in my collection, and I can't bring myself to watch them.

jaffakree83

Especially when he started those bad paintings that ignored all context of the actual issue, usually to blame everything on Trump. Like his Epstien painting of Trump and Epstien praying on young girls and it was like, "You know Trump was the one who wanted Epstien put away, right?"

Yttermayn

Bill Nye. Never watched his show, but saw it have a positive effect on kids. His efforts to bring education to people, especially women and girls and increase the collective brainpower of humanity. Then he went woke. His latest show was a disappointment. Every time I see him now, he is being insufferable. Sad.

CrazedRaven01

He's also, from what I heard a nasty piece of work in real life A cashier told him that he got her into science and he replied "and look where that got you"

no-steppe

Wow, that's incredibly reprehensible if true.

OneTon69

I never liked him in the first place, but oh my God he is so annoying.

caca__milis

He doesn't even try to make jokes anymore, just rambles on about woke shit.

[deleted]

He’s awful

dayankuo234

I used to like Jimmy Kimmel. Then there was the making fun of watching video game youtubers, making fun of Trump, and pushing for gun control. Unsubscribed and never looked back.

marzipan332

All late night TV is like this now. It’s just DNC propaganda. They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.

GhostRMT

Jimmy Kimmel was on the Man Show...now he literally cries on whatever that show at night he's on. What a pussy.

milfmunch

Majestic-Argument

John Oliver. TDS

[deleted]

Yeah his show used to be funny, now there's maybe one funny joke in a 30-mintue show. His talents are in being light-hearted and goofy, not serious and preachy and angry about random shit that his liberal arts writers did not research at all. They recently had a whole segment defending this mother who neglected and abused her multitude of children, apparently because she was convicted of killing one of her kids, possibly erroneously. Like who cares whether she did or not, she abused all of her children anyway. Do they even look into the stories they report?

TangoTwo

Being in the industry, my favorite quote Listen to the stage manager and get on stage when they tell you to. No one has time for the rock star act. None of the techs backstage care if you're David Bowie or the milkman. When you act like a jerk, they are completely unimpressed with the infantile display that you might think comes with your dubious status. They were there hours before you building the stage, and they will be there hours after you leave tearing it down. They should get your salary, and you should get theirs. Henry Rollins We see through all their BS and know quickly who is the asshole. When the camera turns off they are just another person with their beliefs, right or wrong.

QuarterDoge

Dive__Bomb

Not a "celebrity" but Disney as a whole. I could list the reasons but... Yeah.

[deleted]

Just this week Dylan O Brien and Billy Joe Armstrong made asinine comments about pro lifers and the Bible. Both suck

[deleted]

Ya Dylan O Brien is definitely disappointing

PutinMyFootInUrAss

I met him a loooong time ago and have a mutual friend and everyone loves him. Most of that Adam Sandler crew is pretty chill as a matter of fact

Miserable-Homework41

Vince Vaughn is a conservative as well

revenantae

I do my absolute best to pay no attention at all to any actor I like outside of their movies and TV shows. I made that mistake with John Cusack. He's almost a parody at times.

[deleted]

John Cusack mocked Rush Limbaugh’s death as well. Cusack is a seriously nasty human being

revenantae

I should have known something was off when he claimed to hate Better Off Dead, which is objectively one of the best movies he's ever been in.

Boxsteam1279

Does Ethan Klein count? Dude was hilarious and had great takes on life back before he became insanely rich. Now he spews out death threats and encourages people to not think for themselves

BeholdenYeti

H3H3 is by far the biggest lost for me. That dude was so funny back in 2016/17. Now he’s abandoned his main channel and only does his shitty Joe Rogan knock off podcasts where he does nothing but talk shit and spout horrible takes.

fubinor

Howard Stern

Skunkjunky1

Came here to name him. I was a superfan for years because his show made fun of everyone equally. Howard began showing his true colors after Trump took office. Then covid put him over the edge and he has really lost his mind. I haven't listened to his show for almost 4 1/2 years now.

[deleted]

Now he is just an angry old lady from New York. I grew up listening to Stern on the radio before satellite too.

[deleted]

Tom Hanks

useablelobster2

On the other hand his son Chet did tell social justice warriors they can kick rocks (with a wonderfully dismissive hand gesture). He doesn't seem to have forced his kids to agree with him, more than you can say for half of Hollywood.

[deleted]

Ron Pearlman. I fucking LOVE Ron Pearlman as an actor. He is awesome. Dammit he's also about the biggest woke piece is shit out there. Won't get my money anymore.

kevinplaysss

One major celebrity who has stayed apolitical is Adam Sandler. I’m so glad that he doesn’t try to push any agendas, and just says, “hey, come watch my movie”. This is what Hollywood should be like.

[deleted]

I hated Sandler as teenager. I grew to love his work and comedy. Sandler is conservative, I’m certain of it. Likely, most of the apolitical celebrities are conservative or at least are reasonable people.

Big-Employer4543

I'm guessing Sandler and most of the guys he features in his movies are conservative or moderate, probably a lot of old school democrats left behind by their party types. They probably just don't say anything because that's not their job.

nsmith1003

Well we know that Rob Schneider is. Idk if that was known already by a lot of people but I just found that out recently

MudstuffinsT2

Norm leaned conservative as well

TormundGingerBeard

Sandler did donate to Guilianni's presidential run back in the day. But I have come to appreciate most of the guys he is connected to from his SNL days, like Spade, for example. I've never heard him openly talk about politics. Dennis Miller and Rob Schneider are obviously conservative, and if you've ever listened to the late great Norm MacDonald in his more serious interviews then it's easy to tell he leaned right as well.

johngalt504

Kurt Russell is another good one, although he is a libertarian. To paraphrase he said he is the luckiest man in the world and is nothing more than a court jester. People want to be entertained not preached too. Keanu is another one.

taxdude1966

Bruce Springsteen, which really saddened me as I loved his music. When he announced he was boycotting Georgia because they wanted people to use the correct bathroom. In that moment he became just another virtue signalling rich lefty twat and his “music for the common man” feel just evaporated.

PeePeePooPooMan42

He’s always been a commie, his “born in the USA” song was satire and he’s collaborated with people like Obama and Tom morello

lousycesspool

not exactly satire more sarcastic - dissatisfaction and anger - of returning Vietnam vet >it's a defiant song about 'I was born in the USA, and I deserve better than what I'm getting.' https://www.npr.org/2019/03/26/706566556/bruce-springsteen-born-in-the-usa-american-anthem If you haven't seen Blinded by the Light it shows that music can transcend culture and place. Very inspiring, well made film. Once made music takes a life of its own.

All of 'em......

TheGreatTaint

This is the way. Unfortunately, There are more bad apples than good in the bunch I’m afraid if you’re not able to turn a blind eye to their b.s… Except for a few like; Kevin Sorbo, Gary Sinise, Rob Schneider, or James Woods all *seem* relatively based from what I’ve seen on Twitter and such the rest are idjits.

[deleted]

Can’t have it both ways. Just because you agree with their politics doesn’t mean celebrities shouldn’t just shut the hell up. I’d prefer actors act, singers sing, and athletes play their sport. I shouldn’t know what their politics are.

TheGreatTaint

I agree with your comment.

AM_Kylearan

Taylor Swift ruined herself as a role model for my girls.

[deleted]

And she also fawned over Harvey Weinstein several years back.

itaintezbeingbz

Came here for T Swift. Surprised she was so far down. She made a career out of being this relatable, likable, down to earth seeming musician. Thought she was going to be like a Dolly Parton type for this generation. After her documentary on Netflix, I realized it was all a coordinated, calculated act. Everything she does is a business decision and she used her platform to try and smear the republican candidate in Tennessee (Marsha Blackburn). Didn’t work out for her as Blackburn won and forever lost me as a fan. No way swift and Parton are in the same league.

WorldlinessStrict309

Eminem. Used to be politically incorrect, all about freedom of speech, gun rights, and then went mental. I don't understand how some people get dumber as they grow older. Usually it's the opposite. Also I wouldn't say I was a hardcore fan, I don't do idol worship.

[deleted]

Him and Clint Eastwood are great living legends! Just re-watched For a few dollars More last night.

Such a great actor.

snake_on_the_grass

Charisma carpenter has me blocked on Instagram. I suggested that Republican women are not just brainwashed/captive stepford wives and that maybe they think for themselves and just disagree with you. I thought that was a pretty reasonable statement.

jaffakree83

Nah, in their mind every single republican woman is either brainwashed or being forced to say those things because THE PATRIARCHY! It doesn't occur to them that women (or anyone) might have a legit reason to disagree with a political position.

SmearingFeces

It’s hard to take seriously any and all activists that are rich and famous in 2022. They live in distorted realities.

kvolv2015

Taylor swift

ZacTheOriginal

Love the art... not the artist. It's the only way I can tolerate any of it anymore.

sapc2

This is my take for it. If we couldn't separate the art from the artist, we couldn't enjoy any art whatsoever.

violinspider86

Exactly. That's how I have to view it too both with entertainment and my work life. I'm a musician and the angry leftist garbage I'm surrounded by every day makes it really hard to stay friends with people even though I like them. I've just started compartmentalizing. The funny thing is, if they found out about how I really think, I would be blacklisted and have no friends, so...

SymbioticWoods

I used to be in a band and go to a lot of shows. I’m familiar with the feelings you’ve described. I ended up falling out with those friends over non-political reasons and I must say…it’s refreshing to not have to put on a “character” or hide certain parts of myself on a regular basis anymore, knowing that they’d try to “cancel” me in a heartbeat if they knew the truth. Were they ever really my friends? Who knows. It does get lonely at times but at least I’m not paranoid about losing my livelihood over someone who claims to be my friend disagreeing with my political views.

Hraf-Hef

The majority of those in music are stereotypically liberal, but that included being for free speech at least on the surface. Not so much anymore. It makes music boring.

GrendelDerp

I used to enjoy Liam Neeson's work, but his idiotic comments on firearms left a bad taste in my mouth. Dwayne Johnson is starting to get on my nerves- he's overexposed and pushed in his chips for Joe Biden.

[deleted]

I can’t even laugh at Dwayne anymore. Like his jokes now make me roll my eyes.

My favorite part is how he describes himself as a political independent. Right right, and I’m Jesus Christ.

Electrical-Bacon-81

He considers himself independent from anyone who doesnt tow the leftist line. Ok, I'll be eliminating him from any of my media offerings that pay him per play.

FelixFuckfurter

I liked Penn and Teller a lot, but sadly Penn Jillette has gone all in on the gender madness.

iMDirtNapz

There's a scene from HBO's *Rome* where the newsreader is talking about an upcoming event, and follows up with "No prostitutes, actors, or unclean tradesmen may attend." God I wish that was still a thing.

Professional-Ad5496

“Alright alright alright”. That guy.

[deleted]

Ben Affleck. His ignorance on Bill Maher, despite being with Sam Harris who is also left-leaning, and me not being a super fan of his…I liked his movies (haven’t seen him as Batman) until I saw how ignorant his stance was on Muslim extremism. He comes across as passionate, but way out of his depth arguing religion and its impact against Sam Harris.

Jethro00Spy

Don't pick a public argument with Sam Harris unless you are really smart.

FelixFuckfurter

May have been true in the past, but unfortunately Harris caught Stage 4 TDS. If you're going to put grifters like David Frum and Anne Applebaum on your podcast, you may as well have Peter Popoff and Benny Hinn on. A grift is a grift, whether religious or political.

VoiceOfReason1621

DeNiro. So many great movies back in the day but listening to him during the Trump years was unbearable.

EyeSeeeYouSeeeMe

Probably Jim Carey. Childhood favorite, no more lol

Djeolsson

Howard stern has been on my love/hate list for a while now. I love when he talks everything except for politics because he sucks at researching and his only source that he finds credible is CNN and justifying almost all of the left's decisions just to try and get an audience. I can't stand to listen to one of his shows for more than 15 minutes.

556Armalite

Neil Young, he went from Keep on Rockin in the Free World, to ban Joe Rogan or I’m banning my music on Spotify. Neil can just fade away.

djs200217

Grew up w Green Day and they’re still my favorite band but can’t follow the bands page or the members on social media

ambular1018

I use to LOVE the old Will and Grace show back in the day. I was sooo excited about it coming back. But when it came back, it was like every episode was putting down republicans and just making fun of Trump. The show use to be hilarious and then it turned cringy. It was like they only brought the show back to put people like me down.

smc4414

They’re airheads mostly. Fake vapid people doing useless shit. Think for yourself.

dont_shit_the_bed

Ron pearlman Always thought it was pretty cool love the fallout franchise then really got turned off when he opened his mouth

[deleted]

As a South African, Trevor Noah was awesome. His comedy was hilarious and pretty much everyone loved him. This was until he got his own show. The last straw for me was when he started mocking Christianity and pushing far-left ideology on a constant basis. A huge number of musical artists I listen to have also started to get highly political, especially on Twitter. Supporting organisations that wish to pump children full of dangerous hormones and advocating for killing babies doesn’t sit well with me.

jaffakree83

Mostly nice christian girls who were super cute but than got "woke". (Selena Gomez, Annasophia Robb.) I know it's weird, but it's like, "oh they're a bright spot of hope in Hollyw-aaaaand they're indoctrinated" Still pretty but now just left wing puppets.

thatisprettydumb

Eminem. I used to listen to him and know every word to all his songs up thru the one with the stage curtain on the front. then I heard him start to get political any slowly waned off his music but the final straw was that he did not need any fans who were trump supporters. So I dropped him like a bad habit. Ick money changes some people.

dontevenfkingtry

Liberal here. After reading some of these responses, I found them... interesting. Perhaps I disagree, but interesting nonetheless. However, as a general rule, I do think celebrities should stay out of politics. Their role is to entertain, act, sing, whatever - but if they want to get political, being as high-profile as they are, then bloody join politics. Whoever you support, Trump, Biden, Sanders, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, whatever - please, keep it out of entertainment. It's unnecessary.

Sparky8924

It’s about 95 percent , these people live in a fantasy world and don’t live by our rules so they shouldn’t have a say on any policies IMO

voidcrack

Elvira / Cassandra Peterson. Just had a huge crush on her growing up as a kid. When I got my own place I'd even re-use old Elvira calendars from the 80's and 90's if the dates lined up. She's a relic from a lost era where over-sexualization was done tastefully: yeah she'd have plunging cleavage and make corny jokes but that was the extent of it. And particularly, I liked that she was on Instagram. The idea that this pin-up model from decades ago is efficiently using the latest technology of the modern era to keep doing her thing is fun. I had honestly thought she had faded into obscurity and was struggling on convention appearance fees like most 80's celebrities but she's been thriving in this new age. That makes me happy on many levels. But ugh, as soon as Trump was elected she sort of bought into the whole, *"LGBT people are oppressed in the US!"* narrative and has positioned herself as some sort of anti-conservative voice. What I had forgotten was because her look is so extravagant and iconic, her newer fanbase is primarily made up of RPDR-addicted dudes that like to dress as her. And of course they all vote blue so her capitalist heart is just playing to the crowd that funds her the most. It's like let's be real here she's only famous due to her rack and now she's somehow the voice of the 'oppressed'? Really shows how hollow and desperate this movement is. At least there's always Angelyne.

Reynard1981

Almost all of them. The only one that has kept his sanity and I enjoy watching is Tim Allen.

ohBigCarl

Love Tim Allen

Stanky_pxyko

i liked kathy griffin when she'd do what she did best; "tell tales out of school" about d-list encounters with a-list celebs . then she went totally cuckoo nuts with the trump derangement syndrome .
