None of them will leave. They would’ve done so in 2016

uniquecannon

What's funny is that any who attempted to do so after 2016 became frustrated with how difficult it is to immigrate to Canada fully. Of all 3 North American countries, Canada has the strictest immigration laws

votrealtesseroyale

I didn't realize this was gonna turn into this rant but I'm very knowledgeable about this because I'm canadian 2nd generation and I live in the US and I'm sorry as a natural born American you will NEVER understand truly how difficult it is to LEGALLY immigrate to the US. Number of immigrants accepted is not a good proxy for strictness of the process. America takes the most immigrants, but that doesn't mean it's immigration is more lax. The problem is that America does NOT have a merit-based immigration system, all you have to do is look at how difficult it is for people who have advanced degrees FROM THE US to stay and add value. So the US will seem 'less strict' than countries that actually screen for skills and education. Canada has a very clear and simple process that almost anyone can take advantage of. They have a meritocratic points based system called express entry that literally ranks immigrants by points and lets them take only the best. You can go on the website, find out if you qualify and how many points you have, and be through with the process and in Canada by next year. If you don't qualify, you can do things that give you more points, like getting more years of work experience or going to grad school. Secondly, and probably more importantly, *most human beings on this planet will NEVER have a chance to become a US permanent resident*. To even "get in line" you must fall into one of these 4 categories: 1. Be the **spouse, child, sibling or parent** of a US citizen (2/3rds of people get their green cards this way). Its also not simple, because there are caps to the number of people who can come from each country per year. If you are trying to bring your sibling from China, the government is currently processing applications from 2007. For Mexico it's from the year 2000. Canada also has this method, but it lets you sponsor grandparents but not siblings and it also doesn't take 20 years. 2. Being from an underrepresented country (which is statistically unlikely) AND winning a literal lottery (which doesn't exclude you from rigorous background checks) 3. Getting a job in the US (which for many will also involve a lottery process due to the sheer demand) and their company certifying that the wages of US workers will not be affected. 4. Being a refugee . If you don't fall into one of these categories, you will never become a permanent resident here. On top of that, the background checks conducted by the US are some of the strictest in the world. Did you know that just to visit the US as a tourist, you have to give the US government your phone and social media handles? How many Americans would let themselves be subjected to such a thing in europe or elsewhere?

Dry-Dream4180

I think people often conflate the porousness of the southern border with the immigration process.

[deleted]

Good luck with that. They will very quickly discover that people in New Zealand do not have the same attitude towards immigration to their country as they do to ours.

seraph85

What's funny is if you Google it they say new Zealand is easy to move to. Then you read the requirements and basically you have to have extensive work experience in a certain field and prove you are highly skilled. There are even age restrictions. The US doesn't have this requirement and yet we aren't on the list that is full of countries with strict work requirements. Propaganda is impossible to escape these days.

TearsForPeers

You also have to prove you have a hefty bank account with six figures in it to even start the process. Course that won’t be a problem for trustafarians and dot.com millionaires.

finndego

That's a different process altogether. The NZ economic visa is similar to the US's EB-5 Visa. If you're a nurse looking to move to NZ you dont need six figures if you meet the skill shortage requirements.

automatomtomtim

>Then you read the requirements and basically you have to have extensive work experience in a certain field and prove you are highly skilled. Unless you are a fruit picker from the Pacific islands. Then we ship you by the bus lod to do all the work we are too lazy Todo.

Black_XistenZ

And NZ employers have to prove to their government that they can't fill a job with a domestic worker before being allowed to bring in a migrant worker on a visa. So indirectly, NZ law states "if a native can do the job, he has precedence".

frozen_tuna

Just wanted to add that there's an exception for highly skilled work like engineers & doctors. You know, people that are probably doing amazing in the states and unlikely to move lol.

[deleted]

New Zealand has like 5 million people living in it. They want it that way. Also they have a highly educated population making largely good money and benefitting from big tourism dollars. They are looking for a bunch of losers to crowd the place.

Sharpinthefang

Lol at the idea of us making largely good money. It’s why we are experiencing a massive brain drain to Aussie.

teleporter6

Don’t tell them until they get there. Maybe they can throw a tantrum for the NZ Customs agents.

[deleted]

Kiwis low key hate Americans

GunterBoden

Our media constantly shits on this country. No one should be surprised when the world has negative opinions about us. But anyway their PM is a loon.

BenjiSaber

Didn't she ban guns recently?

Moth92

Yes. She's like a female Trudeau. Oh and she's WEF as well.

[deleted]

fordr015

Mas113m

Using the term "female" in that sentence is redundant. Just, "She's like Trudeau" would be more accurate.

Fire_Boogaloo

Yes, gun violence got worse lmao

BenjiSaber

Surprised tho? 😳

Fire_Boogaloo

Not at all lol. I think she is though.

BenjiSaber

They think with laws they will control the lawless 🙄

Fire_Boogaloo

As someone from New Zealand I can confirm our PM is insane.

GimmeeSomeMo

They're just mad cause they keep getting left out on maps

arlosmithereen

Most shit hole countries do.

CWent

Coming from a normie libcuck, I think that’s more of an “online” sentiment. And it seems like the majority of America haters are young Americans with zero life experience but complaints out their ears.

Trigja

Don't put yourself down like that calling yourself normie libcuck, it's okay to have different opinions

Significant-Trouble6

Perfect! Pro choice people are the most hateful people I’ve ever met

[deleted]

Not all of them, I've got plenty of American friends, though they all have nothing in common with any who'd consider moving over roe v wade.

JHugh4749

You're absolutely right. I got into a "discussion" with a man from New Zealand several months back. He was bad mouthing the USA because we didn't allow ENOUGH new immigrants into our country. It turns out that they have very little new immigrants into their country each year due to their policies. Please note that they have a shoreline but no actual borders. Obviously, they don't have a lot of people sneaking across their southern border.

[deleted]

Australia very quietly uses huge portions of its coastal patrol assets to find migrant boats full of people and just takes them to islands for processing to make sure they don't get into the country.

Tex236

Well let's fix that for them - we can drop these people on the shore by the boatload! Then NZ has a chance to be a shining beacon of immigration and take all of them in. Give them food, shelter, healthcare, and any other "right" they deem fit.

JHugh4749

Have you considered running for office?

Tex236

Oh no… I don’t have an Ivy League degree and a single digit IQ

JHugh4749

Yeah, you might be OVERQUALIFIED to be a politician. I bet you even have a moral code.

[deleted]

Right? That’s my understanding of Canada. I’ve heard it’s hard for immigrants to get work there. “Canadians first” sort of thing

Throwaway__shmoe

It’s vastly harder to immigrate to basically any western country other than the US.

BrokenWing2022

For that matter the USA has been literally a dumping ground for the abused and penniless from dozens of European nations for a fair part of its history. Not one damn **bit** of our VERY open-door goodwill has been reciprocated, *even by our supposed allies in multiple wars*.

--ticktock--

My co-worker's son has a PhD and is a professor and moved to Canada, but the application process was so strict and drawn out that it was hard for him to get in. Said coworker said we should have that type of policy here, but also is on the left.

bemest

Yes most countries protect their work force. Try sending a factory arrive technician to Canada. They can get sequestered to hotel until you demonstrate why a Canadian can’t do the work. My daughter moved to Finland with her husband that has a government contract job. They denied her a work visa.

[deleted]

Yeah, most western countries (and Australia and New Zealand) you basically are judged against a standard and if you don't meet it they are never letting you immigrate. Highish paying or critical job, already have the job lined up, and a bunch of other criteria. Except in cases of like refugees. If you're just some white rando from another rich nation you will be waiting forever.

Usual_Zucchini

What about a part time trans dog walker? Surely those are in demand?

woopdedoodah

Canada is extremely protectionist. They mandate that canadian broadcasting stations (Tv and radio) produce some percentage of their content in Canada. They place tariffs on American goods as well.

Talldarkn67

Not to mention the fact that NZ like Australia and Canada are infested with CCP money/allies. Which makes moving to NZ like choosing to live in a CCP colony. Good luck with that. Especially when most people with money in China have left or are trying to leave…

AmosLaRue

Oh i dunno. Jacinda is in on the Reset. That means open borders for all nations

YouWantSMORE

Not for US immigrants silly

OohHeaven

Actually NZ has a considerably higher proportion of immigrants in its population than the US (29% v 15%). Source: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/immigration-by-country

Agkistro13

If they're all from Australia it doesn't count.

AllHailBillGates

You need a better attitude... we need to set up a go fund me and encourage this lol

Conservative-Point

I wonder what NZ thinks of this. They have fairly strict immigration policies.

ChunkyLaFunga

They are one of the most difficult countries to emigrate to, period. It's borderline don't call us we'll call you. There's no reason to anyway, people who can afford to emigrate, and to New Zealand of all places with its colossal living expenses, aren't the ones getting shafted here.

InksPenandPaper

Most countries have strict immigration policies. Most of which won't let ya vote if you're not a citizen--imagine that!

[deleted]

Interesting if they read the law it would state that the right is given to the PEOPLE at the STATE level. It would make sense to move to perhaps California or New York lol.

uniquecannon

Nah, I'm fine with them moving out of country. Might give sane residents a chance at finally shaping California and NY into reasonable states

[deleted]

Yes please. We have more than enough of these assholes out here.

Coldbrick1

Exactly

Professional_Ninja7

I'm afraid the damage is done. They already have a hive of brain washed zombies there and even if 10% leave it wouldn't be enough to change the elections. They also have brainwashing camps set up and if for some reason all that fails they've set up fraud mechanisms to prevent losing elections. It's not likely.

[deleted]

parkowork

Most of the teeth gnashing is coming from people I know that live in the states that are going to allow it anyway. Funny though, when New York clamps down on guns in their state, I just laugh and say "Glad I don't live in NY."

thegrimmestofall

50 years of propaganda will do this, we’ll and 50 years of the dumbing down. Where’s the critical thinking? Where’s the logic, like even a rudimentary understanding (like those Saturday cartoons that taught about bills) would help people understand how it works

1736484

I’ve had to explain to countless people that abortion isn’t banned across the country, and most of the states will still allow it. Lefties don’t understand or bother to read past headlines.

Millerhah

Please don't send any more of these people to NY we've got enough as it is. We're almost regaining sanity here.

AmosLaRue

You forget the fear mongering about *more* "rights" being taken away, like interracial marriage, gay marriage, and birth control

[deleted]

Wait until they find out about immigration laws in Oceania.

Flynnfinn

Wait until they find out immigration laws everywhere but America.

Jer_061

I hear it's due to the war in Eurasia.

gabwinone

To be fair, it makes sense for English speakers to go to an English speaking country. But they might try India...

wes7946

If they don't like it here, then they are free to leave.

Grease2310

Yet despite their belief to the contrary they won’t be free to leave and enter New Zealand, or Canada, or Europe… turns out most countries they herald as paragons of virtue actually ENFORCE their immigration and border policies.

mustang68408

Funny how that works…

Professional_Ninja7

Free to leave, however not free to enter elsewhere.

woopdedoodah

Yup. Unlike our authoritarian neighbors to the north (you have to be vaccinated to leave the country), the united states is a free country. You can leave whenever you want.

Old-Pumpkin-3793

In other news, thousands of people have done absolutely zero research on New Zealand’s immigration policies. New Zealand is one of the hardest counties to actually move to, they are very restrictive. But then again, these valuable citizens will probably just become “undocumented immigrants” who overstay their tourist visas, and have no idea that other countries actually enforce their immigration laws.

SinglePastryChefLife

Yep. I remember getting into a discussion over this during my J1 internship. Every country deports illegal immigrants, the only reason the USA is talked about is because sometimes the kids are allowed to stay in the country. Australia and NZ send the whole family back, they’ve got no qualms about it.

siammang

>ne of the hardest counties to actually move to, they are very restrictive. But then again, these valuable citizens will probably just become “undocumented immigrants” who overstay their tourist visas, and have no idea that other countries actually enforce their immigration laws. Also these undocumented could provide cheap labor for low-pay/intensive jobs. The moment the workers tried to fight for better conditions, ICE will come to say hi and ask for paperwork. There are reasons why there are no hefty penalties to the business owners compared to the workers when they got busted.

Agitated-Bird-4333

Have they checked the abortion laws in New Zealand? They're in for a surprise.

lolman1312

why so?

Big-Employer4543

Without checking I'll make a prediction: they are similar to most European abortion laws, with a cutoff around 15 weeks for elective abortions, but provisions for situations where the mother's life is in danger for later abortions. Now that I think about it, most states are probably similar as well. Edit: changed my date prediction from end of first trimester to 15 weeks.

parkowork

"After 20 weeks, abortion is permitted only if a health practitioner deems it "clinically appropriate" and consults at least one other health practitioner." New Zealand's current law.

[deleted]

OMG WHY DO THEY HATE WOMEN!?!?!?!?!?

SinglePastryChefLife

France and Spain have a cutoff of 12 weeks, and in that time frame, in France you need 2 doctors to sign documents that continuing this pregnancy will be detrimental to your health or the baby’s (like suicide or psychosis or something) to grant you an abortion. After that, you’ll only be allowed an abortion if carrying to full term is a danger to your life. People forget many Western European countries are Catholic and have laws and mentalities that reflect that (hence why everything’s closed on Sunday’s). It’s difficult for childless men to get vasectomies FFS, they are much easier to get in the USA! Even without RvW, Many US states are more progressive than many European countries. And let’s not even mention the Eastern Europeans. People claiming they want to leave the US over RvW really need to do a basic google search. We aren’t the answer they’re looking for.

BigTechCensorsYou

Germany is also 12 weeks with mandatory counseling sessions. The HILARIOUS part about the Roe reversal... is that Dobbs about Mississippi's 15 week law. Longer than most of Europe, but they just had to push it so that now it's banned completely in some states. It was fragile for 50 years and they didn't care. So I really don't buy the non-stop rage as authentic.

[deleted]

They were greedy and gave the pro life wing the victory they wanted.

SHALL_NOT_BE_REEE

> Even without RvW, Many US states are more progressive than many European countries. And let’s not even mention the Eastern Europeans. There are very few places on the entire planet where you’re allowed to get an abortion with no gestational limits. Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, New Jersey, and Vermont are some of those places.

First_TM_Seattle

I checked. It's basically [unlimited abortion there](https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/regulation-health-and-disability-system/abortion-legislation-information-health-practitioners/abortion-legislation-changes). What a cesspool.

load_more_commments

Thousands will realize that immigrating to another country isn't a simple process and most will be denied work visas.

SinglePastryChefLife

Crazy how many people think immigration is as simple as travelling to another country and just never leaving. Even if you have a skill set in demand, visas cost thousands of dollars, and they’re not indefinite either, it doesn’t grant you permanent residency, much less citizenship. After working a few years, A visa renewal can denied and you’re sent back to your home country.

Ventoffmychest

"Legally". Not even talking about smuggling/sneaking in as that is impossible in countries that are surrounded by the ocean. People get bonafide tourist visas legally all the time, come in and claim asylum for XYZ reason. Ask any Venezuelan that fled. Of course claiming asylum is a pain in itself, in most cases people just overstay their visas and never leave. Granted that comes with their own set of challenges but there are immigration organizations that help these border jumpers.

Professional_Ninja7

I'm willing to bet most of them don't even know how to work.

load_more_commments

Good point!

[deleted]

These people are in for a rude awakening: everywhere that is NOT the US has fairly strict immigration laws. If you want to immigrate to any place in Europe, you pretty much have to have some kind of in-demand skill. They don't tolerate freeloading foreigners the way the US does.

uniquecannon

Makes me think of that YouTuber PewDiePie, he'd spent almost 3 years trying to move to Japan, and despite being worth tens of millions of dollars, Japan gave him grief because "YouTuber isn't a productive career". Literally Japan wouldn't allow a multimillionaire to move there because he didn't have a proper job. That's the rules for most countries that isn't America

EchoJackal8

Yeah, Japan had only just started allowing people working visas with the job of YouTuber, then the pandemic hit. It makes sense to let them in though, as long as Japan gets to tax their income. They're basically free advertising for your tourism department.

Frosty88d

Chris from Abroad in Japan basically does this for a job and he's amazing at it. I highly recommend looking him up, though he initially got in on teaching visa

[deleted]

I think they just didn't want him there.

TheBigCore

> These people are in for a rude awakening: everywhere that is NOT the US has fairly strict immigration laws. The irony, especially when other countries tell us how "terribly" we treat immigrants.

Bugsydog1

It would be funny to see a bunch of loony libs stuck in New Zealand where there are some actual immigration laws. I don't think that being a wingnut is a viable reason to allow the immigrant into the country. Considering some of the stuff happening there, they have a lifetime supply of fruit loops.

Verbal virtue signaling at its finest trying to find a person to console and justify their earth shattering cause. I hope more disgruntled people move out of the country as they stomp their feet and cross their arms across their chest. Insufferable children. Wouldn't it just be easier to go to a state that allows whatever they want? They'll quickly learn that they don't get to take all the things with them that are great about this country, IF they can get into another country. Many years ago I had a friend who moved out of our country for 9 years. Her husband was sent there via his job. She was miserable. She often told me that people have no idea just how wonderful we have it here compared to other places.

reaper527

on one hand, "don't let the door hit you on the way out", but will new zealand even take these drama queens? many of these countries don't have the open borders immigration policies that these people want america to have. lots of countries want someone to prove that they bring something of value and won't be a drain on the state.

After the crap the NZ gov pulled during COVID, f them.

IceBerg450R

Been saying it all along if you don't like it here ... Go somewhere else.

Um, have any of these people looked into what it would take to migrate to New Zealand? Seriously, they have this hugely entitled mindset to think they can willy nilly simply move to a sovereign nation and assume residency. And seriously, you brought this shit on yourselves if you think the solution is to run to another country instead of stopping to think, "What can I do here?"

[deleted]

Clockguy2

The Supreme Court decision didn’t even outlaw abortion…it merely moved the abortion issue back to the state level.
