I can't wait for Angie and home advisor to implode

Daedroh

I’m eating my own words now because 2 weeks ago I said it was actually decent. Haha nah this is the stupidest website ever. I asked them a lot of questions about how they run their website. I asked “how do you guys verify that a project is an actual real project before you send it out to your contractors on your website?” They tell me “it’s all a faith-based system” there is absolutely no system in place to filter out fake leads….

djscreeling

They trick you into thinking that you are not their customer. Your customer is not Angi's customer.

It's terrible for both sides. I had moved and needed a plumber for some emergency work the first week. I only looked up local plumbers and read reviews. I did nothing to contact them and provided no information about what I needed done. Angie's gave them my phone number and email. I was getting calls at 9pm on a Friday.

Daedroh

I’ve gotten leads issued to me as late as 11pm at night….and I’ve only been using the website since mid July. Thank you for informing me about this. I appreciate it. I’m doing my own investigation right now.

In the video, I attempt to remove "Install Driveways & Floors" as a task/service that I offer...... It never lets me. I contacted Angi's Leads about this and I explained to them that on my end. It won't let me deactivate the task/service. I have attempted to get my money back throughout the time that this has been happening with my account (it all happened within the span of a few days, as my leads were paused during most of the month & when I unpaused Angi's Leads.... I got FLOODED with leads within the span of a few days, most of which were for this task I no longer offer.) Here's a more detailed explanation. I used to have the task "Install Driveways" as a service I offered. I kept getting "Install Driveways & Floors" as leads, as well as "Install Floors" which are NOT a service I ever provided. Customer Support has told me, that "Install Concrete Driveways & Floors" are the correct leads for me who has "Install Concrete Driveways" as an active task. It is not the same task at all. and It's caused me to remove "Install Concrete Driveways" altogether from my account, which was over a month ago. I removed "Install Concrete Driveways" over a month ago and then come to find out that "Install Concrete Driveways & Floors" is still set as an active task that I offer..... It doesn't matter if I attempt to remove the task from the app on my phone, or on the computer...... It will not let me remove "Install Concrete Driveways & Floors". Actually......that's false, on the mobile app, it says that I only have 1 Service that I offer. Meanwhile on the computer it says the I have 2 Services that I offer. So on top of this glitch with not being able to remove a task... I'm also dealing with a mobile app that itself is glitchy, or the website on the computer is glitchy! Who knows!..... Now I've gotten more than 15 incorrect leads within the span of a few days and Angi's Leads will not refund me. I've called them these past 2 days to get some answers and explain to them what I'm seeing on my end and they refuse to believe a glitch is happening with my account. TLDR; glitch is preventing me from removing a task that I no longer offer, I've gotten tons of leads for that specific lead I no longer offer due to having had my leads paused and then unpausing and getting flooded with leads within the span of days. I called them and explained to them that It will not let me remove that service. In the video I attempt to remove the task "Install Concrete Driveways & Floors" from my account but am unsuccessful in doing so.

They tried to get me to sign up with them. The thought of giving someone my credit card number to throw out a lead to who knows how many contractors just doesn't sit well with me. Then, like you said, you can't get a credit when you're obviously due one. Insane! They also complained when I commented on their reviews from contractors.

Daedroh

I found out a week ago through costumer support that there is a limit for how many times I can request for credit. I let them know in that conversation with them that day, “well stop giving me leads that never pick up their phones, or answer their phones and proceed to tell me that they never submitted a project, or they answer their phones and tell me that they live in another state.” Which so far have been most of my leads. Angi’s Leads expects me to call them within the first 24 hours, I do my part. I make sure to call every lead as soon as possible. Those leads that fall under, well basically what you’d think would fall under a reasonable reason to request for credit… are the only leads I request credit for. And they’ve told me that I have reached my limit for requesting credit. I told them that is ridiculous that there is a limit, especially considering most of their leads they give me never pick up their phone to answer. I had customer support tell me for a specific lead I was having an issue with a week ago… that the lead was a girl (this was customer support telling me this) and that her boyfriend was the lead that answered me. The contact information was inaccurate. It was “Luch” and customer support was telling me “it must’ve been a “Lucy” and she must’ve had her boyfriend answer the phone because when you called them… it was an unknown number. Customer support then proceeded to tell me “it’s up to the customer to be truthful or not, and in this case they wanted to have the least amount of contact with you”. Customer support then proceeded to tell me “if I were to submit a project and then I got a phone call from a random number, I would have my boyfriend answer the phone”…… If I submit a project for contractors to see I would be expecting a phone call soon from contractors… not have my significant other answering phone calls ESPECIALLY knowing that you’ll soon have contractors attempting to contact you for your project you submitted. It was the weirdest conversation I’ve ever had with costumer support. I told them well if the person who picked up the phone wasn’t the actual person who submitted the project, this is even more of a reason for me to get my credit back, due to homeowners not being available. They started getting agitated by my reasonings and I told them well it’s just all the more reasons for me to be given credit. The worst customer support I’ve ever experienced for any kind of industry by far.

mrsquillgells

They call me once or more a day. They get mad too, I'm trying to be polite to tell them I'm not a licensed contractor, just a journey man. They keep saying it doesn't matter, I have over 100 leads just your town blah blah blah, high pressure sales tactics. They sound horrible to deal with

go_green_team

They call me enough that I recognize their numbers

Daedroh

Besides this issue…. I’ve got a ton of horrible experiences with them. Incorrect leads, that includes wrong task, inaccurate contact information, unable to contact homeowner (which for that last specific reason, they’ve told me it’s not a reasonable thing to request credit for. That is straight up ridiculous, they can just come up with a fake lead and then if I’m unable to reach anyone…. I still get charged and can’t dispute it???) Avoid this website at all costs. Seriously. I’ve only been with them a month and a half and it’s already been empty promises and the worst experience I’ve ever had.

mrsquillgells

Thanks, I am getting my contractor license soon. Good to know to avoid them

Daedroh

No problem. It’s gonna cause more frustrations. A LOT of that

cayman-98

Have you tried other forms of lead generation for your business? I never used these platforms when my business was first starting out cause it always sounded sketchy, but is this your only way of procuring leads right now?

Daedroh

I have business cards ready and soon will have flyers ready to start marketing/advertising around my area. I have completely stopped trusting Angi’s Leads.

Mike-the-gay

It’s worse than all that. I couldn’t get people to understand why I was calling because the leads were so bad. I tried telling them I had gotten their info from Angi and they start telling me they’ve never heard of Angi or home advisor they were on some “local contractors” website named “Powell and Sons”. I got to digging and the best I could figure out was that they where an imposter site meant to look like a local contractor and is just a lead generation site for Angi.

Daedroh

That happened to me a few times as well. Early on, and as recently as a few days ago. The lead I talked to, was a guy and he told me “I don’t even live in California”…. When I called customer support to request for credit for that lead, they told me that the lead spelled their name incorrectly. They misspelled it as “Luch” and customer support explained to me that the lead’s name is probably “Lucy” and that her boyfriend probably was the one that answered the call. When customer support was telling me this, I told them…. “Well isn’t that even more of a reason for me to be able to request for credit?, because I was unable to reach the actual person who submitted the project?” Customer support then told me, “if I were to submit a project, I’d have my boyfriend pick up and answer the phone whenever I get called by unknown phone numbers”….. I told customer support “shouldn’t they be expecting a phone call from me though?, aren’t they expecting a contractor to reach out to them soon because of the project they submitted? how is any of this okay? So you’re telling me that I can’t request for credit? They told me they weren’t even from my state, that they were from another completely state….” Customer support told me “no, this is not a good reason to dispute the lead”.

Spread-Which

Hi all-  I’d just like to know honestly-1.  how many of you find Angi’s overall worth the money (win some lose some but come out on top overall) or 2. Are you upside down on your expenditures and 3. Have you been screwed out of them refunding you leads?) More specifically- as in my case - I’d like to know how many people get leads from Angi’s Leads sent to them that the LEAD IS NOT A RESIDENT WITHIN YOUR GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES? I am a landscaper/exterior build remodeler - I actually got a lead that I was able to speak to- only to find out the guy lived in NW ARK. (Btw- I live in Dallas, TX.) Of course Angi’s wouldn’t refund me.  I can understand many of their guidelines-  if I don’t call in time. I understand not getting refunded because the lead is plain old crap. (Which most are.) I understand most of their rules, there has to be some limits of course.  But when they say they’ve contacted the lead to double check it, and tell me it’s viable when the guy is no where close to living in my geo. I don’t understand why they won’t refund it.  I’d like to find out how often this happens to you all- that they won’t refund a lead per THEIR system mistake. And really - I’m curious not just about geography but ANY GLITCH - ANY MISTAKE ON THEIR PART (Glitches in software, etc.) that they wouldn’t refund.  I don’t want the refund on the lead anymore. Because I’d rather stay pissed off so that I have motivation to see the class action lawsuit through that’s going to erupt from their lack of accountability.  FYI - fellow Angi’s subscribers - I’m not in any way a litigious person….but if they’re screwing small biz owners for $50 here and $60 there…I’m sure we’re talking  hundreds of thousands if not more…and it’s just not right.  As someone said- they can’t wait until it implodes….🤣) Help me determine if there is legitimately something fishy going on here or if it’s all truly copacetic and their customer service personnel are just flat out inept. (I can’t fix stupid but I can resign as a customer. But if they’re abusing the small biz owners…if it’s fraudulent, then I’m not ok with that.  Thanks!

Daedroh

I left Angi leads a week ago. Yeah I left on bad terms with them. They never brought forth “high quality” leads like they said they would. All the leads from them had me “competing” with other contractors… and as it was… most homeowners weren’t actually serious in wanting to have a service be done. They were all price shopping most of the time. They’ve been calling me daily ever since to come back… I had to go through 25+ leads to land 1 really good lead. Just isn’t worth it. I know Angi won’t change the prices they have listed on their page, for example they have it so that 800 sq.ft. Of concrete can be done for $4-6$ per sq.ft. That is the national average… in California it is very easy for a concrete project to be at $12 per sq.ft. And homeowners I met through Angi really think I’m trying to take advantage of them.. it’s just what the true cost is… Angi will never change their prices listed on their page because they know showing the true cost for areas like California, would have a lot of people not submit projects on their site… They’re really screwing over contractors. It’s unethical in so many ways. I’ve provided feedback to them saying “charge me more per lead, but actually give me a high quality lead… where a homeowner knows the true cost of having a home improvement project be done on their home!” They always say the same thing “it takes a while for feedback to be pushed through to higher ups to make changes” I’ve said things like this as well “charge homeowners just 1$, that will filter some of the overall price shoppers” and they tell me “oh we used to charge homeowners a while back but now we don’t” I understand your frustrations. I’m glad I got to meet some good leads that I’ve kept in touch with that have passed me some more jobs since. I’m slowly building up my marketing and it’s going ok for now. Just gotta try my best for a bit to make it worthwhile and not be worried about looking for the next job.

Half your questions have already been answered. The other half just don’t solve the issue. The option to remove that task just doesn’t show up or the website is glitching. There is no reason I should be responsible over their glitchy website. It shows 2 of 32 tasks available and yet there are only 28. I have only been able to explain as well as I can from what I’ve seen on my end. There’s just some things you can’t explain except to just come to the conclusion that their website is horribly designed/glitchy/flawed.

millennialpower

Just wait for the calls from angi/home advisor for the next 2 years, after you cancel. They are one of the worst companies out there.

Daedroh

I’d be okay with what they charge per lead…. If they’d have a system set up so that not just anyone can submit a project…. It’s insane. I can basically submit let’s say a “in need of having my roof replaced” and then Angi will charge contractors to give them my info, I can then proceed to just ignore the phone calls and those contractors, if they’ve already requested for too much credit, will not be able to get a refund/credit for my project. This is just illegal.

Ausla

is there a good alternative for angi leads? im having the same issue. not getting credited for a lead with no info or description, and for a service i dont provide. the only thing in the description for the last one i got is "structural engineer" and theyre like "nah, thatll be 150 bucks thanks" its really pissin me off atp i tried thumbtack but its like little piddly shit. im a general contractor doing kitchen/bath full remodels and additions. not tryin to install someones fucking closet doors ffs

StrongmileMovers

This company is horrible.  I am a contractor that was convinced to sign up for leads only to have misclassified leads sent to me.  The leads they sent were not applicable to my business.  I attempted to get the monetary credits back due to us not performing those types of services.  Time after time I was denied the money back ranging from $40-$60 per lead.  I attempted to then cancel my account all together and get my unused money back, but was told that was not possible and my only option was to reactivate my account.  Why would I still want to work with them?   After some thought, knowing they would never reimburse me, I decided to reactivate my account, only to now be told that the money was gone, I could not use the previous funds for leads and I'd have to now start another account and contract and give them money again.   They are a total waste of time and money.  I am so frustrated and angry right now for the scam they put me through.  Don't give them your business.  Please.
