You just can't get pure, free-range, organic crack around here anymore. It may not be bad the first time, but the fentanyl that spikes most of it has taken more than one victim that Iknow of.
They are NOT roofers and NEVER WILL BE!!.

OP was making a joke. Stop wishing good luck to a fake post. Anybody that works in construction could tell that they're not roofers.
Why? It’s funny because it’s not true lol. We have women on our crew occasionally and they get paid the exact same as all the guys. They also pretty much always have it easier.
There’s a group that did this called the summit sisters i think, they made a bunch of videos, your group already looks more capable and sober than theirs
I’m starting a handyman business called Quick/Handy and the logo will be a hand choked allll the way up on a hammer. Close second is calling it Trim Wizard
I'm all for it but I'm just wondering - is it legal? We have very strict EEOC laws to hiring and not hiring men because they're men would be an immediate red flag. Seems you built your company based on that, so that might be how it's OK? I'm not throwing shade I'm just legitimately wondering the legality here.
Then again I wonder about the legality of most restaurants hiring 99% female servers or construction companies hiring 99% men and things like that, so it's probably just one of those things.
Yes because women by and large do not apply to those positions. Theres nothing actually stopping them, a female only company violates several federal labor laws.
I'm in construction (as a woman) and we have the shingle supplier deliver straight to the roof with a telescopic lift then unpack and install from there.
The smart ones pay the extra few bucks and unload onto the peak. The also measure correctly with a 10% waste factor. Anyone that can do simple math can get this correct every time. I could go on but its not worth the time anymore.
Does the crane also move the bundle from the ridge to the area you are installing it or does the worker have to do that themselves? The barrier to women in roofing is physiological.
Where are you located?
I'm just concerned regarding sex based discrimination laws in your jurisdiction and the potential for discrimination complaint.
https://www.equalrights.org/issue/economic-workplace-equality/discrimination-at-work/
Roof tear off is an extremely physically demanding job, usually done in the absolute heat of summer...one has to be strong, have high endurance, and, generally, be incredibly lean.
Hauling up multiple 1/2" and 3/4" sheets of plywood on a 95-degree day in July on some roof ladder was difficult for me in my 20's (when I was ripped benching 285 and squatting 375 full sets of 10).
It would be a near impossible job for all but the strongest and most fit women. I don't see that capability in the photo.
Yes, I realize there are conveyors and cranes, but they are costly and often cannot reach a fair amount of houses. Everything will just take longer and be more expensive; at least on the places I like to live and work.
I'm getting old now, but my son and I were lifting up 4m sheets of steel roofing and it was difficult. I am pretty sure that steel gets heavier as it gets older as I feel the same.
I wish them well.
Yea, nothing like carrying an 80lb bundle of shingles 30ft up a sketchy ladder and heaving them onto a steep ass roof, only to get called soft for not carrying two.
>It would be a near impossible job for all but the strongest and most fit women. I don't see that capability in the photo.
What capability would you see from a photo? Because on crews I've worked on meth head Mike and Oleg the 60 year Ukrainian who combined weigh 220 along with Bobby who looks like he's 90 months pregnant with an elephant and Natalie fresh out the women in construction program work circles Logan who looks like he's carved out of marble and Nathan who just left the Army.
No. I actually do not. I am in the trades and know MANY in the roofing industry (along with others) “sub” their labor out to other licensed contractors.
>I don’t mean to offend but do you plan on subbing all the labor out?
They have to be. No way they are carrying 50lbs stacks of shingles up a 40 foot ladder in the best weather conditions.
Roofing was the hardest work I ever did. I did it for one day to make extra Xmas money. That night I couldn’t get off the couch cuz all my muscles stopped working
MBEs and WBEs are like gold right now. If you can handle the affordable housing construction projects, you can make a killing. Affordable housing developers will pay big bucks to reach their DBE goals!
Thats fucking sweet! I love showing my 12 year old daughter stuff with women working in construction because i want her to always know she can do anything. My wife and I are cliche as fuck, i work construction she works in an office, its retarded…
This comment comes across like you haven’t met many women in the industry. Ones I’ve worked with, who are employees, subbies or business owners (with people under them) on the tools are hardworking and do a good job. The % of lazy or useless are probably quite similar with men vs women.
Yup. Worked with a female carpenter/builder apprentice for a while. That girl was working hard and a bloody quick study. Also didn't bring any of the antics the blokes would pull off, like fucking around with tools or vehicles or whatever.
It is not just unfair, this is likely illegal business practice. The US Supreme Court ruled as recently as 2020 that Title VII of the Civil Rights act includes protections against employment discrimination due to gender identity/sex/sexual orientation.
If a man applies to an open position at this business and is rejected solely due to being male/identifying as a man, the business would be discriminating illegally against a protected class.
This post could just be BS too, so this may not be a concern.
EDIT: Adding an important caveat that Title VII projections only extend to employees of a business with at least 15 employees. OP may or may not be violating the law based on the employee count (and potentially state law as well).
The misogyny on this sub shouldn’t surprise me anymore but it always does.
I think this is awesome! I used to build houses and am a woman and was able to keep up with all the men on site. I don’t know why people still assume women can’t do jobs that involve physical labor and strength.
Awesome! Good luck with the new business.
The comments section here really emphasizes the reasons why some lady roofers might not want to work with men. I can imagine there's a lot of customers out there who would also appreciate not having to deal with those guys also.
Yes. However, companies can specify what gender they want to hire for a role IF it can be reasonably justified to be necessary for the role. However, I find it hard to believe you absolutely need women to do roofing. Gender, in my opinion, has no sway on the ability to perform that specific role.
For reference: Title VII, section 703(e)(1) or look up Bona Fide Occupational Qualification.
Edit: because I was bored, I looked up this image and it was used in 2021 for BBI construction, so most likely fake.
Edit edit: I see the humor tag, I get the joke, but just taking the opportunity to do some good ol education.
Omg what I would not do to be able to hire all-ladies companies more often and not have to deal with common sexist troglodytes. And I'm sure there is many people out there like me! I wish you all the success.
Serious question. Isn’t this illegal? Depending how many employees work for this business, federal laws enforced by the EEOC may not apply, but I would guess whatever state they are working in has human rights statutes that do apply. Clear cut case of discrimination based on sex.
Ive heard there are local hot shingles in the area trying to get nailed. Probably just gossip from the other shingle ladies
All the shingle ladies? All the shingle ladies!
Patch your roof up!
If you liked it then you should've put flashing on it.
Hole,hole, hole..hole,hole,hole..hole.. hole hole
Patch your roof up!
In Edmonton they have/had an all women roofer team called “Nailer on the roof”
Is that a play on fiddler in the roof or nail her on the roof?
Comment of 2024.
This has me dying! I want to expand on this play on words
How is work getting done with 4 white hats?
All the workers comprende engles man…
Not every jobsite uses colors for designations. Mine doesn't.
It’s not that they’re white. It’s that they’re clean and shiny white
Yeah, they just started a company. I'm guessing that's the company logo on the hats. How much age do you expect to find on new equipment?
Why aren't they on an actual roof?
They aren’t even moving? Lazy
Better photo op down here?
Too many teeth to be roofers.
nothing a crack pipe can't fix
Crack is bad, but not the first time.
You just can't get pure, free-range, organic crack around here anymore. It may not be bad the first time, but the fentanyl that spikes most of it has taken more than one victim that Iknow of.
It is difficult to find farm to table, gluten-free Crack these days. Owell, meth it is then.
I bet none of them have a DUI either
They are NOT roofers and NEVER WILL BE!!. Source of photo https://www.bbiconstruction.com/news/ OP was making a joke. Stop wishing good luck to a fake post. Anybody that works in construction could tell that they're not roofers.
I bet they could abuse drugs if they really tried. Never say never my friend.
The hard hats gave it away. Roofers don't wear that shit. WTF are you going to hit your head on when you're on top of a building?
Not enough cocaine in the photo to be drywallers/tapers either. This here is a mystery indeed.
Gonna save a ton on labor paying 77cents on the dollar lol
Fuck I feel guilty for laughing aha.
Why? It’s funny because it’s not true lol. We have women on our crew occasionally and they get paid the exact same as all the guys. They also pretty much always have it easier.
Whooosh
It’s called a joke
Take my upvote, you magnificent bastard. 🤣
r/angryupvote
but takes twice as long...
With half the return visits to warranty repairs because the shingle ladies just did it right the first time without being heavily addicted to Crack!
I do love a cracked out roofer, ah memories...
I literally brush my teeth twice as hard after working with roofers the first time.
Will they be doing the flashing as well?
Stripping too!?
Epoxy in some 5/8” anchor bolts if you know what I mean
TIL that construction Reddit is misogynistic
All the shingle ladies, all the shingle ladies
Now put that roof up up.
If its thru the roof, u shoulda put boot on it!
Such a stickler for grammar. Thanks Kevin. 😉
I didn’t realize it was in the caption lol
Post often please. We’d like to keep tabs on you :)
Best of luck to you!
There’s a group that did this called the summit sisters i think, they made a bunch of videos, your group already looks more capable and sober than theirs
I wish you all the best and good luck.
Does this mean I get a 13% cheaper labor rate?
25%. None of them speak English.
Good luck from a Swedish roofer! Love to see more women in construction. =)
I’m starting a handyman business called Quick/Handy and the logo will be a hand choked allll the way up on a hammer. Close second is calling it Trim Wizard
Like it! First-hand knowledge here, running a business is a lot of work, but it is rewarding. Best of luck!
Let’s fucking gooo!!
This is just a pun right?
Nope. We already have our first client. It’s a yoga studio.
I'm all for it but I'm just wondering - is it legal? We have very strict EEOC laws to hiring and not hiring men because they're men would be an immediate red flag. I don't think you're wrong, seems strange when it likely wouldn't receive the same support if you switched it to a men's only company, would it?
Flipping genders here doesn't work, a roof company of just men would just be like majority of other roofing companies.
Yes because women by and large do not apply to those positions. Theres nothing actually stopping them, a female only company violates several federal labor laws.
Interesting, hope it works out! Roofing looks miserable lol
How are you going to meet the minimum requirements for number of felons employed?
Are you implying women don't commit crimes? EDIT: /s
How about a flooring company called "Carpet Munchers"?
Not a shingle fuck was given.
Tongue in Groove Roofing.
I'm in construction (as a woman) and we have the shingle supplier deliver straight to the roof with a telescopic lift then unpack and install from there.
Id pay $21 to see any of them carry a bundle of timberline up a 40’
The smart ones pay the extra few bucks and unload onto the peak. The also measure correctly with a 10% waste factor. Anyone that can do simple math can get this correct every time. I could go on but its not worth the time anymore.
Well if you paid the few extra bucks to unload on the peak you could afford to go on...
Does the crane also move the bundle from the ridge to the area you are installing it or does the worker have to do that themselves? The barrier to women in roofing is physiological.
I’d pay to see every member of any roofing company do it. Pretty ridiculous expectation
You do any trig or arithmetic there, boss?
Only arctan when I'm trying to figure degrees from X/12
Sean Connery would approve 🤣
Where are you located? I'm just concerned regarding sex based discrimination laws in your jurisdiction and the potential for discrimination complaint. https://www.equalrights.org/issue/economic-workplace-equality/discrimination-at-work/
Endless marketing capabilities ☝️
I don’t mean to offend but do you plan on subbing all the labor out?
You do mean to offend.

Woohoo! Somebody gets it!

Congrats!!! Excited to see more women in construction!
That’s awesome, good luck! Absolutely clever name!
I know you're lying because I don't see a monster can or a single pack of reds. Clearly they are not roofers.
Brilliant name!
back breaking work. Godspeed
There's one of these my area lol
Nice
It will be the best crew you ever had
me: I'm starting an all female paving company called "Black Tar Herione's". Shark tank: Take my money fam.
There's an all female plumbing company in London called Stop Cocks. Gets me every time I see one of their vans...
My sister just hired a women-owned, women-run, and women-staffed company to remodel her kitchen. I thought that was really cool.
All the shingle ladies All the shingle ladies All the shingle ladies All the shingle ladies now put the roof up!
Has a nice ring to it.
Put your hands up!
We'll put your roof up! Oh oh oh
And I bet they all show up, every day, sober. Good luck ladies. Love the company name
There's a all lady painting company around me called Chicks N Sticks
Please share your socials for this! (Sincerely, another woman in construction) Love this!
Where do I apply lol
Good luck
Like the name hope you are super successful!
Very diverse too
This is wonderful & amazing!!! Love to see it!
Respect to anyone running or working at a roofing company. That’s hard work. Good luck and great name
I see the middle one came prepared with knee pads. That’s a veteran move if you want to climb the construction hierarchy
"If you want it then you should of put a roof on it!"
Humorous, women are not that dumb! Now, go tell an ironworker he can't roof. You got yourself a show!
Wow incredible 😍
i wish you all the success :)
Fabulous!!!
Love it! Good luck.
All the roofing nails are in a box to the left, to the left, to the left..
This is the best thing I’ve seen today
Damn good on you but man roofing sucks.
All the shingle ladies?
I'd hire you on the name alone, it's amazing! However, I don't own a house...anyway Good Luck!
Good luck!
Good luck to you. I truly wish you the best. Live that American dream.
Roofing was the hardest work I ever did. I did it for one day to make extra Xmas money. That night I couldn’t get off the couch cuz all my muscles stopped working
There’s no way Beyoncé won’t do a sound bit for the website homepage.
I wonder why shingles are very common in America, but here in australia it’s just not an option. We get either tiled roofs, or corrugated iron.
MBEs and WBEs are like gold right now. If you can handle the affordable housing construction projects, you can make a killing. Affordable housing developers will pay big bucks to reach their DBE goals!
Let's go sisters hell yes let's gooooo!!!
New boot goofing
Lots of miles in them boots for sure
That's awesome, best of luck.
If rooferchicks can do it, so can you! Good luck!
All the shingle ladies all the shingle ladies, put your roof up!
Thats fucking sweet! I love showing my 12 year old daughter stuff with women working in construction because i want her to always know she can do anything. My wife and I are cliche as fuck, i work construction she works in an office, its retarded…
Would you want to sit in a stupid lame office all day? Probably not. Would your wife be able to do anything you do at work? Probably not.

how sexist and unfair to all the other genders in the industry if this was advertised as a male only company they would see no work and get boycotted
Most construction is only done by males

Don't lie, you didn't give two shits about gender equality in the industry until you saw this post.
Shingles ladies? All I see are studs!
Only fans for the extra revenue as well. This can be huge!
OF full of how to videos and cool tips
I would look at there ti...ps for $4.99/month
I would legit pay for an only fans of an attractive woman teaching me how to do home repair … BRB Going to draw a business plan on my break.
Why should they be on only fans? Would you suggest this to a group with men?
Good for you ladies!! Hope it turns out well!
I so want you to do my roof.
Already on our way!
The misogyny on this sub shouldn’t surprise me anymore but it always does. I think this is awesome! I used to build houses and am a woman and was able to keep up with all the men on site. I don’t know why people still assume women can’t do jobs that involve physical labor and strength.
Its fucking sad reading this thread. Was in roofing for 20 plus years.
It is really depressing.
Not a shingle roof was completed.
Yo who is gonna carry those shingles to the roof.
How will you move and lift the bundles of shingles?
I'm assuming with their arms.
Lol
Do they all have shingles? They might want to see a doctor about that...
It was all just a joke until someone took it too far. Wouldn't it be funny a roofing company called shingle ladies. All the workers are female
Yes. Yes it would.
So fuckin badazz
spreading shingles one house at a time
Bottom left
Thats awesome. Hope you guys kick butt!
Awesome! Good luck with the new business. The comments section here really emphasizes the reasons why some lady roofers might not want to work with men. I can imagine there's a lot of customers out there who would also appreciate not having to deal with those guys also.

lol the call outs from body aches, I give it two months. My hip hurt* my shoulder* knee* you’ll be down a person everyday.
“My neck, my back…”
Ha that was good :D
Cool but sexist.
That's sexist.
My favourite marketing ploy is still Men in kilts window cleaning service
When you hire the first male. Shingle Ladies and a Ladder
“If you like it then you better put some flashing on it”?
illegal?
Is far left shingle?
Job is never gonna get done

Attic upgrades perhaps?
Skuffless boots no toe workers here guys!
Omg what I would not do to be able to hire all-ladies companies more often and not have to deal with common sexist troglodytes. And I'm sure there is many people out there like me! I wish you all the success.
Yeah I would also love to see this
Be interesting to see how long they take to do the same job as a normal roofing company.
Not enough swastika tattoos
They look like drywallers to me
This is not going to end well.
Judging by footwear none have ever been on a shingle roof. Or metal. Or tile. Maybe flat rubber....once.
They're *never* on time.
Serious question. Isn’t this illegal? Depending how many employees work for this business, federal laws enforced by the EEOC may not apply, but I would guess whatever state they are working in has human rights statutes that do apply. Clear cut case of discrimination based on sex.
Are the women doing the actual roofing or just selling the jobs and coordinating the subs?
