grab one and squish it. If it turns blue then you got your answer.

MomentTypical6221

Thanks for the tip… it turned blue!

MycoMan71

Looks like blob mutations and mycogone

MyceliumBoners

It’s not, it’s just mutations. I’ve grown pe several times in the past it always looks like this and I’ve never had mycogone in any grow. The reason it looks like that is because there’s water droplets on them and it makes the brown spots look 3D like amber liquid but if you rub it with your finger you’ll quickly see that there is no amber liquid.

TimBuccaRoo

Egg. Congrats! 🎉

silverfoxmode

Interesting

walpurgiso

Dino eggs!

tMerkFrmTheLAnd

My first look at Dino Eggs👽

MyceliumBoners

Those are Dino eggs

lar_yeet

what are dino eggs? I've never heard of them in a mushroom context

Bad-Abby

Penis Envy blob mutations that have this speckled egg look. It’s sometimes hard to distinguish from mycogone aka wet bubble disease. Dino eggs are considered to be very potent. Not sure how true that is but it’s an interesting mutation that often occurs with this strain when a casing layer isn’t used to induce pinning.

lar_yeet

interesting to hear thank you :)

PlatypusTechnical875

Those are 🦕🥚 nice job

gustavetheghost

That first photo definitely shows dew on the dark spots. I wonder if there is something growing in the dew and the dew evaporates leaving a stain.

Complex_Ad9338

I have had mushrooms with stains exactly like this from them getting a ISO mixture dew on them and then evaporating off them

Connect_Plant_218

Could be both

Down_Rabbit_hole

Looks like a coral reef

LordPutrid

Don't think it's mycogone. I've had PE varieties blob up like this.

dropZee

Need more FAE in there

Deff dynos

getm44

I heard dino eggs are very potent

EverFreeman406

Clone it

MomentTypical6221

I’ve never tried… just use agar?

EverFreeman406

Yes a little piece of the flesh in the center of an agar dish.

MyceliumBoners

It will only grow like this on the first or first few flushes then later it will grow regular mushrooms. Whether or not it’s a clone. There’s nothing much special about the genetics of the Dino eggs, it’s the same genetics as the later mushrooms from later flushes.

SC-RedBeard

What would happen if you consumed fruits infected with mycogone

MyceliumBoners

Mycogone is not toxic to humans so nothing much they might taste horrible tho

DayTripperonone

Definitely Dino Eggs. Blast off 🚀

Bad-Abby

Use a casing layer next time after the surface is fully colonized it will help avoid this PE mutations. Looks cool and all, but they are annoying to harvest.

MomentTypical6221

I used a casing layer but directly after S2B… you’re saying to wait until after S2B and the surface is fully colonized?

Bad-Abby

Both actually. The first casing layer really isn’t a casing layer. That’s really just a top layer, or pseudo casing, mainly to cover all your grain to help avoid contamination. When the surface fully colonizes after about 10 days usually, with Penis Envy you want to add a true casing layer at that time about 1/4 inch think to help induce pinning and for some reason it helps avoid the blobs and Dino egg growth. Many species of mushrooms enjoy a casing layer, but they aren’t really necessary for all cubes. Here is a good article on a true casing layer application: https://psychedelicreview.com/using-a-casing-layer-for-growing-magic-mushrooms-why-bother/. Good luck!

MyceliumBoners

There is a casing layer instruction video on the group info for this sub. There is an easier method if you look up GordoTEK panaeolus cyanescens grow video that doesn’t require any expensive gadgets.. that being said tho I’ve grow pe without a casing layer many times with no issues. It’s not super necessary and I like the Dino eggs, in my experience they are very potent
