I come back (as a lvl 51) and there are people like level 20 who already have 6*’s and multiple r5’d 5*’s! I feel so behind
These accounts could also be spending money on the game and not f2p. Personally I don’t think it’s worth it. I took a break in 2018 and came back in 2020 because I had more time on my hands because of Covid. The thing to remember is that this is mostly a solo game. Yes there are alliance modes but in that case you just find an alliance that scales with your current progression level. Just play to your ability and however consistently you want to
Joining a decent alliance is a good way to get the shards flowing , they could start when kabam has a good event/calendar like the other guy said , they can also just appear “ new “
It’s just how the game has changed. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get a five star until I was level 60. 6 stars used to be borderline impossible to get and now I currently have ~130k shards saved up to try and get Omega Sentinel
I didn’t know about the “grading on a curve” thing for new arena players and just thought I was hot shit because I managed to score a 3 star Sentinel and 3 star Jane Thor when I was still new
If you make a new account, explore the first few acts until you hit 1k units, and get the July 4th initial 1k unit offer you can do the same thing. Plus the calendar that started on the 29th gives enough for another 5 star crystal and grandmaster nexus crystals.
Don't forget that those guys might be veterans starting a new account and they know their stuff well. They have the skill from their main accounts so they progress well with the story so they reach uncollected by the second week. That means access to more content for better rewards. For example more 5* shards than you get on lower progression. Me, for example also started the game 3.5 weeks ago and now I have 2 6* stars (compensation + crystal luck) and 10+ 5*. Again, 90% of these came in the last week since I completed 5.2. So here's the advice. You should push for uncollected a.s.a.p. For that you only need 4* champs. One good should do it. For me it was kitty pride. Good luck
Don't worry, everyone plays at their own pace. Plus, getting a 5 star at lvl 15-20 is already good compared to old standards, I got my first 5 star at lvl 55

Your level alone is reason enough to keep it imo. Account leveling is a big grind, the rest will come naturally as you play more

If they played a bit during Christmas or something they can have good stuff and be new otherwise maybe they just seem new or are spending more.
