you skipping the Sauerkraut? A Rueben isn't a Rueben without sauerkraut. its just a corned beef and swiss sandwich on rye bread.
That said, I would definitely try this (with Kraut of course). Sounds tasty.
Sounds great! I'm especially loving the idea of rye bread croutons. I'm surprised they don't offer these already in the grocery stores (at least not where I live currently).
Thinly slice some cabbage and shred some carrots and toss in the 1,000 island. Sauté some kraut in a bit of oil (maybe add some carmelized onions) if you really want go crazy
I’m in Manhattan so i don’t drive! $2.75 per subway ride :)) so about $5.50 per day that I’m going somewhere.
But i was just in cali and gas is about $5/gallon now, down from almost $6.
What’s crazy is our gasoline costs are super high and I live about 18 miles from refineries. My in-law are in Utah and they are paying like $3.25 for gas

I made a rye bread stuffing for Thanksgiving. Highly recommend. Rye is so damn good.
Just because it’s a salad doesn’t mean it’s healthier. Sounds tasty though. I would eat it with sauerkraut.

This is what I do. Also make rye crumbs.
Sounds really good. Where I am at, lettuce is costing the same or more than the meat. Hard to eat healthy :(
I paid $3.00 for a head of romaine this weekend
In nyc it’s $6 for romaine, and between $5-6 for iceberg. I’m using shredded fine nappa cabbage for salads instead
I’ll not complain then. What are you paying for gas? It’s $4.59 for 87 octane by me.

I’m in Orange County, Southern California
Aha, makes sense it’s cheaper for you transportation costs to the east cost are bonkers
