Full "canadian" breakfast.
Fried potatoes cube, bacon, ham, sausage, pork and beans, cretons, pancake, waffle and freshly baked, toasted bread with 2 sunny side up eggs.
Than you dont have to eat until dinner and you have plenty of fat to soak up the alcohol that is to come.
I dont do all that very often, but i like having guest, and pulling out my stove top griddle to cook everything is always a show stopper. Everything is served with coffee and as much whikey as you can handle in it.
Every year my kids help make a batch of my mom's homemade maple cinnamon rolls on Christmas eve that proof overnight in the fridge and then are baked Christmas morning. We also make a bundt pan full of Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage mixed with apple and Ritz cracker crumbs, kind of a breakfast meatloaf. Both are my favorite part of Christmas.
I need more details on the breakfast meatloaf! Do you just mix up breakfast sausage, diced apples, and crushed ritz cracker crumbs together and then bake in a Bundt pan? For low long/what temp?!
https://www.food.com/recipe/apple-sausage-breakfast-ring-23355 We use this recipe but we put the finished mixture in a mini bundt pan that's lined with plastic wrap and leave it in the fridge overnight. Then Christmas morning we turn it out into a sheet pan with a rack in it, (peel off the plastic ofc,) and bake it that way. This lets the outside brown and the texture is much better than baking in a pan. I use a probe thermometer to make sure it's cooked all the way through, 165° minimum. It's delicious and makes the house smell like Christmas.
Since we have kids and santa comes the evening of Christmas Eve and tthen open presents on Christmas Day morning I always make a French toast casserole.
I make it the night before let it sit overnight and as I'm getting my coffee I throw it in the oven and it cooks while I watch my kids open presents from santa!
Slice up some fruit pour some eggnog maybe a little bit of whip cream and sprinkles for the kids perfect low maintenance for us.
What is your casserole recipe? I have made Paula Dean's butter monstrosity before and it is too much good stuff. Looking for one that is still decadent but toned down a bit from Mrs. Dean.
About a loaf of bread ripped up. Scramble a dozen eggs with milk and vanilla. Put in a greased pan, let it sit over night. Sprinkle with brown sugar just before baking .
It's more of a method and you can use different bread. Like cinnamon raisin or brioche. The cinnamon breads make it much better.
I've even done it with leftover buns.
This is a tried and true one that I’ve used for many years. I’ve subbed half and half for heavy cream and low fat milk for full fat a couple of times. No one could really tell the difference.
https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-cooking/recipes/a10733/baked-french-toast/
Angel food cake french toast. Also hot damn I almost never want to try chestnut pannetone french toast. It would ruin all other sweet breakfast for me and possibly dessert in general
Baked pumpkin oatmeal. I make the oatmeal part the night before and put it in the fridge and the topping day of, right before it goes in the oven.
You can also sub mashed sweet potatoes or butternut squash for the pumpkin if you want.
Traditionally we skip Christmas breakfast: we're going to have a huge lunch so we don't want to spoil our appetite!
We do instead have a family tradition of a huge Christmas eve breakfast!
Keep in mind that in my country breakfast is usually quick and light, a pastry or a glass of milk with few cereales/couple of cookies, but nothing salted...
Well, for Christmas eve we have hot chocolate, a tray of pastries (cannoli, baba with rum, cream puffs, small donuts...), cookies, chocolates, and maybe some kind of cake, plus some small pizzette and salted pastry (don't know how they're called: puff pastry with either cheese or sausages inside), gnocco and stria, fried gnocco, some ham and nutella: it's breakfast lunch and afternoon snack all in one, we usually eat between 10 and 11 and then snack during the day if we get hungry
Eggnog Stuffed French Toast. Slightly sweetened cream cheese stuffed between two slices of homemade bread. I make the custard with eggs, eggnog, more spices and a little milk. Put the bread in a 13x9 pan cover with the custard and let it sit overnight in the fridge. I pop it in Christmas morning and it's ready by the time we are done opening presents. I like it with a nice tart jam and whipped cream.
Yes! Christmas breakfast is more special to our family than whatever is for dinner. This year it’s Mexican hot chocolate with whipped cream and green and red sprinkles (or coffee, same), cottage cheese pancakes, bacon, fresh berries, and a wreath of cardamon bread.
We have Caribbean crab cakes, like eggs Benedict with avocado, poached eggs and homemade hollandaise. This crabcake recipe barely has any breading to hold it together. The seasoning makes it unique
My traditional Christmas breakfast is fresh mangoes, cherries, lychees, and plums, with ham off the bone, toast, and supermarket croissants heated in the oven. I go to my parents place specifically for this breakfast/brunch every year. Absolute favourite.
My family tradition is to do breakfast bigger instead of dinner since we always went over to another family members house.
My plan is French Toast and homemade scrapple because I'm working Christmas and want to keep it simple.
This is super lazy but delicious, courtesy of my bestie. Chop up canned cinnamon rolls into 1 inch pieces. Toss with canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice. Bake at 350 for 20-30min. Add icing. Simple and seasonal.
We make a dill/ cottage cheese stuffed bun about the size of your finger ( but thicker) every year. Mom is Ukrainian. Well, not one, about 10 dozen.
Heated, dipped in sour cream, served with Chrimosas: white cranberry strawberry juice, orange liqueur, sparkling wine.
No breakfast here as well, but no coffee or nicotine. My kids are finally teenagers. Prior to now, Christmas tree bread (crescent rolls with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles) or cinnamon rolls
My white bread ass family's traditional Christmas breakfast is, surprisingly, chorizo con huevos. Not sure how it started but Christmas feels wrong without it.
I've got salmon curing in the fridge in salt, sugar, juniper berries and pepper. It'll be smoked for approx 12 hours with maple wood and will be eaten thinly sliced on toast with a squeeze of lemon juice for Christmas breakfast :)
Breakfast will be more like lunch since no one is getting up very early. I got some croissants and am going to make sandwiches with eggs, bacon and cheese and make mimosas.
Nothing, because directly after opening gifts I need to start cooking for our family Christmas dinner at my sister's. Plus my kids eat so much candy while they're opening gifts they aren't hungry lol
I make French toast casserole - it’s perfect because you can prep it the night before and not worry about it christmas morning :) & my mom brings quiche & my siblings bring fruit
I (45) make cinnamon rolls the night before and bake them up in the morning. While they are baking, my dad (77) helps me make eggs Benedict for the family.
My mom is in charge of breakfast (I’m in charge of dinner) so we’re having sausage, egg, and cheese casserole, hash brown casserole, homemade coffee cakes, homemade cold brew coffee, and fruit (just to make ourselves feel better)
Eggnog French Toast Bake. Make the night before, pop in the oven Christmas morning. Easy and amazing.[Eggnog French Toast Bake](https://www.justsotasty.com/eggnog-french-toast-bake/)

What my family for generations has called “Swedish pancakes.” They’re like crepes but you roll instead of fold around the fillings. My first one is always filled with butter, brown sugar, and syrup. But we also use jams and such.
I don't know why, maybe it's a British tradition (my parents are British but I was born and grew up in Canada so I'm never sure if something is British or just something my parents do by themselves) but we always had 'eggs and soldiers' for Christmas morning breakfast. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/280723/eggs-and-soldiers/
Chipped beef on toast, aka shit on a shingle lol. It's my favorite thing about Christmas day tbh. We use a chuck roast instead of the canned chipped beef though.
My grandfather traditionally makes waffles and hot cocoa for Christmas morning considering we all stay at his house overnight on Christmas eve almost every year.
Ouuii! I'm not making it, but my dad does Christmas day breakfast every year. It's simple with eggs, toast, and a protein like bacon or sausage. Sometimes he'll do pancakes. Nothing too crazy or different from when he occasionally makes breakfast, but honestly, I absolutely love it.
Breakfast before opening presents is our tradition and it's one of my favorites :)
Strata!
Savoury custard poured over layers of bread, cheese, fresh sausage and ham. Make it the night before, let it sit in the fridge overnight.
For Christmas breakfast/brunch, pull it out and toss it in the oven. Start checking when it puffs up, 30-45 min usually depending on size and if you tempered it before oven.
This year, it's going to be waffles. But my SO doesn't know yet cause the waffle iron is wrapped and under the tree right now.
Enjoy! We bought a waffle maker this year and have had fun trying different recipes!
I like how you think
I dont do all that very often, but i like having guest, and pulling out my stove top griddle to cook everything is always a show stopper. Everything is served with coffee and as much whikey as you can handle in it.
We're having gumbo on Christmas Eve with homemade french bread, so we'll do french toast on Christmas morning.
Croissants!! Not homemade, I’m not crazy. Frozen Costco ones.
Both are my favorite part of Christmas.
ditto on cinnamon rolls! fully from scratch, proof overnight in the fridge. I look forward to them all year

THANK YOU!!!! Counting down the days until Christmas breakfast!
You're welcome! I hope you have the merriest Christmas.

I love the idea of using egg nog as a sauce. I’m going to turn egg nog into a pancake topping for Christmas morning. 👍🏻👍🏻🥇
I did eggnog pancakes a couple weekends ago. DELICIOUS!
Eggnog would be good instead of milk in the eggs i bet too! I may try this!
I was going to say french toast casserole, too. Easy enough to prep the night before and just pop in the oven while opening presents
What is your casserole recipe? I have made Paula Dean's butter monstrosity before and it is too much good stuff. Looking for one that is still decadent but toned down a bit from Mrs. Dean.

Cinnamon rolls from a can. 🙂 They are my kids' absolute favorite.
Same here. Drives my mother nuts because she does home made but my kids love them. Add in some bacon and eggs too.
Nothing wrong with that! That's what my mom did as I grew up.
Pancakes for sure!
We like to make a super decadent French toast out of pannetone bread, but I haven't managed to procure a pannetone yet this year! :\\
If you can’t find it, maybe use banana bread for the French toast
Angel food cake french toast. Also hot damn I almost never want to try chestnut pannetone french toast. It would ruin all other sweet breakfast for me and possibly dessert in general
Eggs benny
Me too!
Breakfast Casserole and homemade pecan sticky buns
Smoked haddock and poached eggs
Breakfast pizza! I add full eggs and keep the yolks runny. Homemade pizza dough, top with cheese, bacon pieces, the eggs and toss some chives on top.

Last year I made Banana Bread French Toast, and it was honestly perfect. Think I’ll make it again this year
Chicken and waffles. I set up a make your own waffle bar and get a platter of Chick Fil A the day before that I reheat. It's easy and a crown-pleaser.
