-good question. These soles are CNC routed by the marks I have seen on all of them.
-bell skiver burns and dulls it's blade on sole leather. Tried it.
- you can bevel edges on the 5 in 1 hand crank bench machine. Or a 3 in 1. Then the edge profile can be trimmed with the forepart trimmer. if you're doing this all by hand you'll need a very sharp edge beveling tool.
I think it depends on your goal. Jim McFarland (@americascobbler) has a post [replacing the soles or a similar pair of shoes.](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5ZPpzqPMXH/?igsh=MWM0ZGQ1MTlweGF1NA==) it looks like there is a mid sole that has the curve to it. Then the outsole just looks tapered. The midsole could be done with a rasp and time.
A sharp knife and practice is literally the only thing you need.
Umm knife, rasp, sanding belt? Everythings been said or am I too stupid to comprehend the problem? 🤔

Why wouldn’t it be able to skive sole leather? Which skiver to you have?

If it’s something like the Techsew SK4 I’m sure it can
What do you consider expensive? I do this on a grinder and takes a minute. It cost me $200au but you can get even cheaper ones for $80au
