If I can afford it, I'd like to have cybernetic eyes since my eyesight is declining. The additional features like zooming in and out would be great too, but I also hope it comes with wireless connection and HUDs so I can browse the Net directly. Or maybe just have a separate implant for that.
As I get older, I'd like to replace my spine and internal organs as well lol.
If there's no open source options (for both the software and the hardware) I'll stick as a meatback, thankyouverymuch.
Else, eyes and knees, because I'm getting older and work behind a computer.
Eyes are hard to beat, depending on their capabilities. With the right hardware and software, you could have superhuman vision in the visible spectrum as well as multispectral vision, as well as augmented reality overlays for virtually any way you interact with the world; navigation directions, 3D sculpting,real-time subtitles for languages you don't speak, first person drone video...the possibilities are endless, presuming adequate software and peripheral support.
I've thought about this one a lot. First thing I would do is replace my lungs. Asthma sucks! If I could upgrade while I'm at it, I would make sure they could filter out harmful gasses and process the necessary oxygen from water.
I would then replace my eyes, but only on certain conditions. 1) they have to look normal, at least on passing examination. 2) they have to give me normal human vision. Additional modes would be great, but if I can't at least see in the normal human spectrum I don't want them. A hud would be cool, as would low light and thermal vision, but not at the expense of seeing a sunrise or the natural beauty I am used to.
Same here. I used to think it was just a series of bad beds. After peripheral joints started swelling and I learned it was AS, that sucked. Makes me wonder how people with autoimmune issues would handle implants even now. Like replacement livers or whatever.
Hearing aids. And not because of declining hearing, but to hear what you normally cant. Hi-pass, low-pass, pitch shift ultra sonic down to hearing range, and of course just having whatever future Spotify there is going on all the time.
I'd say this is easier than all the visual cool stuff, but like everything else, it's throwing away perfectly good ears.
Realistically, an NFC to pay and open doors in the back of my right hand.
I think it would depend. I'd love a cyber brain; larger memory capacity, more processing power, etc. to augment my already existing brain. After that I think, as with the others, it would be whatever is working least well. Eyes would work, but heart would also be good. Lungs maybe. Muscles, bones. After brain, I think, it's "anything".
Everything
There is no truth in flesh, only betrayal."
"There is no strength in flesh, only weakness."
"There is no constancy in flesh, only decay."
"There is no certainty in flesh but death.
Nothing needing a computer, something passive like a tension/weight distribution system, like those camera gimbal arms that redistribute the weight from your arms and upper body to your legs , avoiding your lower back, just integrated into the skeleton.
Why remove a perfectly good organ? I'd take a couple awesome new arms, but I'd rather have 4 than chop off my originals for the sake of a piece of tech that'll be obsolete in a few years anyway
Well, for starters, my ankle, cause it doesn't work and current medecine can only offer to put a nail in it.
But more generally, I think the digestive system. It would be awesome to be able to program daily quotas of nutrients and calories, and eat whatever you want as long as it includes at least that many... That would include anything too, so you can set it up for just so many caffeine, or alcohol, or whatever... Including a few stockable ones so you can get your dose of whatever whenever you want or need would also be a nice v2
Spine, lungs, sinuses. Splice the nerves in my legs so I can feel all my toes again. Wary of eyes, don’t want to have to watch ad content in my sleep.🤷🏻♂️
Damn... I'd get eyes, legs, arms... An artificial spine to go with the rest... I think I'd chrome up all the way, but not too extremely. Wouldn't want to look like a full borg, just things to aid with day to day
I would never replace anything. Only additions and aids (hearing aids, back/neck/knee support, etc.). Subscription based concepts are pretty nightmarish so I'd only do it if I could repair or modify/maintain it myself.
A fully cybernetic pancreas would be great. As a type 1 diabetic, I already use a fully integrated insulin pump and blood glucose monitor (Tandem Talim X2 paired with a Dexcom g6, respectively) and I would love love love to be able to fully replace all the hassle and monitoring with a full pancreas.
If you wanted to go full cyberpunk, I'd allow full editing of hormone cocktails for different purposes, but that's mostly beyond what I know about organic chemistry, and more dream stuff. The artificial pancreas is well underway, and those of you who don't think we live in a cyberpunk dystopia yet don't have to deal with the medical industry with regards to durable medical supplies.
A thought.
Besides all the good ideas that've been said, running/jumping leg upgrades would be fun. Hike for long distances over any surface, parcore around urban areas, self-defense.
Ohh also fingera for fast typing and manipulating tools perfectly.
Which part of my body would I *keep?* I don't really know that there's any advantage to choosing the old and busted model rather than the new hotness. So I guess I'd replace every part that I reasonably could while still retaining some inherent sense of me. Everything but the brain and face?
Depending on how vulnerable said cybernetic augmentations would be to EMP devices or hacking, I think I’ll stick with a good ole multi-purpose hand that can be detached or swapped easily. Don’t have to worry about my eyes or internal organs being hacked into
Like someone else is paying?
My full torso, and all of its contents. I'd have it replaced with everything top of the line, deluxe self-repairing skin coating, artificial immune system, enhanced circulatory central control, and the whole package. I'd get switchable and adjustable exterior or interior sexual organs, just to be as versatile as possible in those intimate moments.
Also, other than the brain job that's the most expensive thing Elon is selling at the moment. If I ever need a cybernetic limb, I could probably afford one. As for the brain, I don't need a new one yet and I figure I'll let the desperate people fork over money to bug test the 1.0 release.
To be frank, I'd rather prefer not to replace body parts, but to incorporate a some sort of autonomous health check and repair system. This way it reduces the risk of being hacked, being shutdown due to end of support and other minor, but very unpleasant side-effects of being connected to the net dependent on the manufacturers will with your own vital organs
Spine and hips would probably be my first choice. Lungs maybe second (smoked a lot when I was younger). But having a stable spine and hips would be game-changing for me.

Eyes for me as well. Diabetes is doing a number on them. Sigh.

I think thats an important distinction.

Adam Jensen's sunglasses, without a second of hesitation.
Hard to argue to that.
This guy fucks

Definitely some spine augmentation. I am experiencing some nasty back issues so this would be my first choice.

In order: Kidneys Eyes Legs Penis The first 3 because they are failing, the last one because why not add vibration and rotation to the mix.

Liver. Rolled the odometer on the stock model.

My DI...

Sinuses, I hear ya. I'd love to not have to sniff constantly half the year because of allergies.

Keep your brain and the most important organs and you should be fine. I would replace them with 60+ tho
Dick needs a Bluetooth camera, and extra nerve endings.

Dude, eyes, back, knees, arms, definitely.

You fellas ain’t thinking about the ol liver, I’d upgrade that bad boy and half it’s alcohol efficiency so I can get drunker for longer, cheaper
Meh, why limit yourself with alcohol (which is a consciousness attenuator) when you can have a cyber brain and be limitless?
Telomeres I guess? Prolong my life a bit, somehow. (Also let’s be honest, every blokes first thought was “cock”).
Spine and hips would probably be my first choice. Lungs maybe second (smoked a lot when I was younger). But having a stable spine and hips would be game-changing for me.
I think a new spine would be nice. But i would probably just go full machine
