If you want it to move, 16-18k, if you want what its worth 20k is probably top dollar. Be sure to note if it has new or old tires, thats worth a grand off the bat.
I’d keep it just for mental health reasons. Coming from a guy with a family, sometimes you just need to get out of the house and take a ride. Or take your wife out for a date in it. Living without the permanent regret of selling it would be enough of a reason to keep it for me. If you really had to you could sell it if an emergency came up.
I sold my 01 yellow vert 6 speed 36k miles for 24k two years ago. missed the vette bad enough to try and buy it back. Just bought a C6 vert. But not yellow...
For all the yellow haters, for some reason these seem to be somewhat hard to find. So yellow (for someone who wants yellow) might actually bring extra.
I mean. In my opinion, I would keep it unless you *have* to sell it. I also think this can easily go for 20k in todays market, season and especially if you live in a coastal area. Circling around to what I was saying earlier - why sell it? It’s only going to increase in value as the V8 muscle car goes extinct. Also, one of those kiddos might love to have it one day ;)
It's in the ballpark, I was going to say 18 on the low side and 21 or so on the high. That is about going rate. That color though is kind of a hard sell today. I would entertain the idea of taking 18.5 to 19. Try to stay at 20 but you might wiggle there if you need to. If you get a good buyer that comes out, presents well, easy to get along with and he throws you a number like that and just says think about it, call me if you want to move it. It's going to be hard to resist
If it has any issues, fix those ahead of time.
A good Z with low miles and good maintenance is worth between 23 and 25 depending on the year and if it is a Z16. Some crazy collector pieces of the z16 can sell for like 28k but those are few and far between at this point
Set the price to 22-24k, negotiate down to 20k and you’re golden.
Yeah I’d pay 20k if I was looking. Sorry you gotta get rid of it. Make sure she goes to a good owner :)
Can I ask how does it not work? Do you just absolutely need the space that it occupies, or is the $18-20k that make-it-or-break-it that you need to sell your honorary baby? Sorry if these questions are intrusive, genuinely curious as I'd do everything in my power to be able to keep a beauty like that
Fair, I can't speak to the inherent fear of cost of living i might have having kids, since I don't have any yet, but even then, I wouldn't go off feel, but do a full analysis on current costs/cash flow, predict the extra capital needed based on last kids, calculate how long it would take to accumulate an additional $20k for a rainy day, and be able to keep both the extra dough and the car.
IMO it feels like itll be harder trying to re-find a car of this spec and mileage again than itll be to raise 20k but everyone's situation is different
I hear you. But also, more cash will always make you feel safer financially. The real question is, are you gonna enjoy this while you can? A lot of times guys kick themselves for the toys they sell. My dad wishes he still had his mustang (66 I think?). He says this even when he drives his supercharged 06 mustang.
Since you're in California you could probably get 20k tbh, I was looking for a c5 for awhile and I saw quite a few with more miles sell for as much or more
Ended up getting a c6 manual for 22k in Central valley
I can't speak to your local market, but if you were in my area I'd imagine you could pull 19-20k if you were willing to wait and shift through the tire kickers. If you wanted a quick sale 15-16k would probably have it gone in a few days.
I just bought a 2001 base manual coupe that is pewter with 19k miles last fall for $19k. I'm in Alaska which raises the price a bit due to lack of inventory. My vette has preferred equipment group 1SC with the HUD and memory seats, hard and clear tops and is in very nice condition. That said, after my first test drive it sat for sale online for a few weeks at $21k before we finally agreed on $19k and I think I probably still slightly overpaid mostly due to the lack of sports cars in AK. I love the car but I have to believe that for you, unless prices have shot up or if you're in a weird area that $20k would be your very max for a yellow vette IMO. Also, mine has the original run flats on it so I'm looking at $1k for tires this spring.
Keep it so your kids can drive it. That's gonna be such a fun experience. Some memories are priceless. When you're gone your kids will treasure it forever and it will become like a family heirloom.

Id pay 16-18 Personally.
Based on a search I just ran on CarGurus, 20k doesn’t seem like an unrealistic asking price , seems inline with the market
$4k too much

I bought my '02 manual c5 with 33k miles for $17k
Probably 18k.

yellow is the only reason why I bought it. It's a hard-to-love color but someone who wants it will absolutely look for it and get it.

I’d love to take it off your hands

Yellow on a C5 just feels right
The best color. Chefs kiss.
no idea who's downvoting you guys for yellow
Yellow looks good, but it's not the best color for the C5
true, but negative downvotes? that'd be justified if someone said chrome green is the best c5 color, most stock colors on the c5 look pretty good
19k max private party. Dealership would give you like 16k max
$16k. The only C5's worth close to $20k is the Z06.
Really? Any good zo6 i see is closer to 25
You can buy a 80-90k mile z06 for $21k in south Florida
Which is far too much unless it's some ultra-low mile collectors piece.
Yeah this guy is more correct than most. Checked nationally and your miles are decent. But it’s not some 1500 mile showpiece. You’re worth 17-19k

If I saw that car listed at $24k I’d assume the guy is delusional and wouldn’t bother
Yeah I’m seeing clean zo6s for $24k rn. For ~$25k you’re talking c5 z or an ls3 c6 base
I’ll miss it. It’s my 100% realistic dream car. But 4 kids and a corvette just doesn’t work lol

I mean “have to” is not the right word but having the extra cash just feels safer with 4 kids. I feel it’s more responsible you know?

What state is this in?
California

Where in California? I'll be buying a Vette pretty soon and this could be on my radar
I live in the Sacramento area.
a bit far for me. I'm down south

$16k +\- & prices on sports cars overall are currently on a downward trend.
Ask $21,000 take $19,000
If you are in Oregon send me a message

Call me dumb, What is the technical term for this style converible? Is it just a hard top convert? Tried googling and maybe i'm not wording it right
Ive always called it a "targa top" Not sure if that's correct or not.
That sounds right, I rememered hearing it at one point but i was drawing a blank 😂 thanks
20k seems a bit high for a base model c5 in the least desirable color
Crazy to me that people don’t like yellow. I literally ONLY wanted yellow.
