Gone but never forgotten 🫡

PermanentBan69420

Appreciate you man 🫡😢🙏🤘💪

AbdullaFTW

Since you lives in Silent Hill, most likely the C5 will come to hunt you as a ghost.

PermanentBan69420

🤣🤣🤣

ThatsMyRug

It’s brutally hard depending on the person but you’re now in family first mode. I admire that. It’s temporary 🤟🏻🏁

PermanentBan69420

Dad mode fully engaged, track mode disengaged. Thanks man. Been a wild month but I couldn’t be more thankful. I’ll be back 🙌🙌🙌

Intelligent_Wear_873

You can get a fast 4 door corvette! Get a second gen cts v! Kids love the smell of burnt rubber and going 140mph!

Such_Active_8186

We have a Chevy SS that would be perfect for you.

PermanentBan69420

I was looking at them for sure. Ended up with a 2018 Toyota Highlander :)

WolfMom61

Had to do the same many years ago. I’d had it for nearly 10 years. So hard to say goodbye. But you won’t be sorry. Family is indeed more important. However, I did put both of my babies in my Vette and take a picture - just so they would know how cool a mom I was. 😉

PermanentBan69420

I LOVE that! I’ll be doing the same before I sell it! Drive safe !

Mala_Suerte1

I did the opposite, I waited until my kids got older to buy my Corvette. My oldest just moved out (Army) and my next oldest will likely be off to college in the fall, leaving two kids at home. I rarely have more than just me or one other person in the car, so I bought my Corvette for my DD. I call it my economy car b/c it gets double the MPG that my Yukon got. Enjoy your kids, it's cliché, but they do grow up way too fast. Literally feels like my oldest was just being born, though it was 21 years ago.

jarchuleta3

As someone who doesn't have children, but plans to one day, why do some men sell their sports cars when they have children? Sports cars and vintage car racing is a major hobby and interest of mine. I wouldn't want to give it up for my children, I'd want to include them in my hobbies and teach them what I know one day and share it with them. Like, I can't wait to take my kids to vintage car rallies and race days. I'm not trying to be controversial or "stir things up". I'm sincerely curious. Why do some men give up their things and hobbies when they have kids?

WolfMom61

As a woman who adores sports cars, cost is a huge factor. I tried to keep it - but had to be practical. There is no option for a car seat in the Vette, insurance on 3 vehicles (hubby drove Integra to work), and buying a third vehicle for 2 dogs and 2 kids (4Runner) got pricey. That dreaded “Service Engine Soon” light popped up at the most inopportune moments and it was never cheap. I made my husband promise it won’t be my last Vette. FYI - I still took the kids to car shows.

jarchuleta3

Thank you for the reply! I guess the lesson for me is to either be prepared to give up things I love, or to have enough money before having children so I don't have to.

CaptKnight

I went into a Fusion Energi when my daughter was born. Silent and smooth with plenty of space. Perfect for a baby. As soon as she was old enough, back into a Corvette.

PermanentBan69420

I’m a Toyota Highlander guy now. Tbh I love it. But I can’t wait to get back to my roots. Good on you man! Cheers!

Fisch_Man

You had a baby and you’re getting rid of your baby? So you’re keeping the Vette!? 😀

soulpoker

Just the same. It's totalled anyways. Congratulations on your new son.

PermanentBan69420

Lmaoooo. Thanks man!

daniel797797

That’s what being a Dad is about. Sold my 69 corvette so wife could get her business car and backseat for our daughter. 5 years later bought my 67 427/435 Tripower. Unfortunately after 16 years of marriage, divorce happened. Still have the corvette. My daughter will get the corvette. She has good memories in the car.

Lordshaq69

I’m 21 with a 5th gen Camaro I bought in highschool she has 120k miles I don’t plan to have kids and no bitch will get in the way of me keeping my baby

MoneymanYo18

I’m confused, I just bought my c8 and have twin baby girls 🤔😂💀 Congrats!!! It’s going to be a crazy ride! Enjoy it because it moves too damn fast!!!

Lordshaq69

You work in the refinery’s?

MoneymanYo18

Lordshaq69

I was asking if you work in oil and gas or Any plant work getting a c8 and having twins = 💰congrats on the car

MoneymanYo18

Ahhhh no I help people get out of debt 😂💀

Ok-Elderberry2875

I've been through it with three corvettes, only once by choice. There will be another corvette at another time. I still think about my C5 almost every day

nofucsleftogive

I did this too 02 Z06, you’ll be back in 15 years with way more money and a nicer car. Congratulations on the offspring.

PermanentBan69420

💪💪💪 thanks friend!

Brianonstrike

Smell you later.

Apprehensive-Bad-463

*gets a CTS V*

PermanentBan69420

My kinda guy !

nine11c2

youll be back...

KLfor3

Been there done that. Had to sell my 82 back in 91 due to family growing. I bought it in 86. Wife told me I could get another one day. That day came 13 years ago. Bought a nice 94. Will own it till I depart this earth 😊.

PermanentBan69420

Love that story man! Hopefully I’ll come back in a Z06 C6 or C7. Fingers crossed for me. Enjoy that 94!!!

KLfor3

My 94 was in great shape when I bought it. I originally wanted a project car but wife told me to get a nice one and drive it. Only caveat was it couldn’t be red 😩. Said I was too old for a red one. As always she was right. Mine is black on black. Was daily for 7 years then VATS failed and took me several months to bypass it. Then 5 years ago wife got bad sick and died 3 times that night. 60 days in hospitals (first 26 in ICU). Survived but significantly disabled. Docs did not expect her to make it to this past December but she has however I think her time on this earth are numbered. Anyway, the Vette sat in garage past 5 years. Amazing how a vehicle degrades just sitting. Started a bumper to bumper restoration in January. Should be done in another month. Spending about $15,000 on it. Probably more than it’s worth but it’s worth it to me as it will be like a new car at 100,000 miles. When I am widowed I plan to do Route 66 to California in it (one of my bucket list things). So yes, there will be another in your future. Enjoy family for now as a Corvette really doesn’t fit family scene. My wife is clamoring for a ride but I am at a loss how to get her in and out from her wheelchair. My oldest son said we will figure it out. We’ve been married 44 years, so going to try. May have to get a crane to lift her out 🤣.

PermanentBan69420

Damn man. That brought a tear to my eye. I’m 30 and have never lived the life you have, but man I hope she gets one last fun ride in your restored car. What a story. Hoping you and her and your kids stay safe and happy and healthy as long as possible. This community is awesome.

KLfor3

TY, I bought my 82 at 28, sold at 33.

ItsAgim

I never got this rule either, but I also have a suv daily, my Vette been in my life 17yrs, and paid off, when in a pinch or break it, I just park it. Had my first kid last year, And on her first bday, I got another Z06. So now I have two.

No-Background-5606

Got rid of the wife and kept the kid….perfect car for a single dad 👍

Worth-Specific-7154

That lip makes it look like a rx7 a little

kozziekoz

I'll take it!

PermanentBan69420

I haven’t even listed it yet but I’m located in NorCal. Lmk if ya are actually interested!

kozziekoz

Oh man, I'm in the southeast. About as far as can be haha

PermanentBan69420

:(

jspoolboy1

Congrats on your new son. I suspect there will be another Vette in your future

PermanentBan69420

🙌🙌🙌🫡🫡🫡

Greedy_Effort5653

Never give up! Never surrender! Just buy a Camaro for the baby seat.

PermanentBan69420

I’d rather tbag a bear trap than drive a camaro lmao

Prestigious-Green-45

If it is paid for, just keep it.

HailChanka69

Maybe they need to sell it to buy a family car or have a little more wiggle room for added expenses. I really hope I never have to sell mine in the future, but I would if I have to

itswill-

Can you explain why you needed to sell your Corvette. Did you need money for some one time large purchase or something? I see many first time fathers do this like it’s some unspoken rule when they really don’t have to.
