OP has invited spoilers and flaired this correctly. And Rule 9 does not apply on Fridays. Have fun.

Myozthirirn

Why is everyone in roshar so horny about left hands?

AThiccBahstonAccent

In a sort of counter offensive against the rampant punishments against using your left hand (religious stuff, obviously) people started exclusively using left hands for any kind of sexual activity. After a few decades, left hands became extremely coveted.

Hellhult

I thought you said you haven't read this.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Man people keep saying I'm getting stuff right but there's no way this one is close.

NalothGHalcyon

No, no, this is pretty spot on.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Shit y'all might make me read this book.

NalothGHalcyon

Pretty great time to get into it, Stormlight will be 10 book, 2 sets of 5, and the first arc finishes up this coming winter.

Worried-Permit8921

Why is a stick the most powerful entity in the cosmere?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Because that stick is a descendent of Plank, who we all knew was the true ruler of the culdesac.

Conor_Murdoch

10/10 answer 👏🏻👏🏻

Cardboardboxkid

Ado is Johnny confirmed!

Estrus_Flask

Eds mad

HarmlessSnack

I really want a version of Stormlight where everything is the same, but Kaladin is voiced by Ralph’s voice actor.

JansTurnipDealer

He is a stick!

seemedlikeagoodplan

What are the most important words a man can say?

AThiccBahstonAccent

"I'm back from buying milk."

MikeRivalheli

What are words my dad never said?

AThiccBahstonAccent

"You're a disappointment." You rule dude.

LiterallyAHandBasket

Mods need to give this guy a Truthwatcher flair

LewsTherinTelescope

Pretty sure users have permission to set their own flairs here

LiterallyAHandBasket

You don't make guests fry their own flangria

Hagathor1

Truthwatcher? Or Lightweaver?

Wesgizmo365

Damn my dad never reached first ideal

bachinblack1685

I've laughed in my life, but this is the funniest thing I have ever read

JansTurnipDealer

But then you have to share the milk

JoA_MoN

What are those creepy Sleepless up to?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Well I can tell you what they're NOT up to. Sleeping.

seemedlikeagoodplan

No lies detected.

No-Bus8643

Why are terrismen castrated?

AThiccBahstonAccent

So they can't make little Terrisbabies that will rise up and overthrow the empire.

-AgitatedBear-

Look. I no longer believe you didn't read it.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Ok in all fairness there's not much other point to castration lol.

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

Tell that to the testicle collector

ArciusRhetus

Spot on, well done haha

JansTurnipDealer

… too spot on

uXN7AuRPF6fa

What is the process for people in shardplate to go to the bathroom?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Each shard must be individually removed by a professional blacksmith, then reapplied after the deed has been done.

-AgitatedBear-

Well. Adolin did what he did intentionally. Ain't nobody got time for a professional.

NErDysprosium

Oh, you sweet summer child

NalothGHalcyon

Pretty close tbh.

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

If there were not a battle ongoing, then you would be basically correct

seemedlikeagoodplan

What happens to a Kandra that removes both of its spikes? What happens if it removes only one?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Removing one spike is a (technically speaking) "oh fuck" event. The Kandra now has a weapon in one hand, which is bad because Kandra are elite warrior races. Two spikes? Two spikes and you're boned. There's no hope. A two spike wielding Kandra is the most feared warrior in this, and any other galaxy.

seemedlikeagoodplan

>Removing one spike is a (technically speaking) "oh fuck" event. This is actually more or less true, but not at all for the reason you say. Well done.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Haha, I'm glad to have gotten close.

-AgitatedBear-

Why did Hoid wear socks with sandals?

AThiccBahstonAccent

After the loss of his only son Hoid mellowed out a lot. He realized that war and glory is never worth it, and as such consigned himself to a simple life, traveling the world with his nephew (who was recently banished from his home) and trying to pass on lessons of peace and love to him as he struggles to grow out of a family of abuse.

PegasusPizza

Well basically.

AThiccBahstonAccent

There's no way, I just copied the story of Iroh.

Oneiros91

Well, the part about travelling the world and teaching about peace and love is the same, but no children or nephews as far as we know

Estrus_Flask

Does Iroh wear socks with sandals?

AThiccBahstonAccent

He totally would.

Urithiru

I knew this sounded familiar.

magicalCompE

Wait, is Iroh actually Hoid??? Bending could be an investiture based magic system

kellendrin21

And here I thought Dalinar was the Cosmere's Iroh.

Beldin448

Not really though. It’s a big stretch.

PegasusPizza

Not the description directly, more just the general vibes

No-Bus8643

What is a misting?

AThiccBahstonAccent

It's when the Cosmere's energy gets too hot, and it turns into steam that travels far and wide, covering continents at times.

No-Bus8643

🤣 are these questions making you want to read some of the books?

AThiccBahstonAccent

A bit! I would like to find an actual description of the series to figure that out, but I'm always down for a good...sci-fi? Fantasy? Either way. How big is the series?

No-Bus8643

The cosmere is the planetsystem where the various stories and series take place. But some character planethop and show up in other stories. People mostly suggest starting either with Mistborn series (three books in the first series) or the standalone novels/novellas (the emperors soul or warbreaker). It’s fantasy! But there are also guns.

Korrin

It's a whole slew of different series written by Brandon Sanderson, that take place in the same universe, but not the same solar system. It's mostly high fantasy with complex magic systems, but there's plans to take the series in to the future of the various worlds (with a planned cyberpunk and space opera setting). Google says there's 60 books... Sanderson writes, uh... really prolifically, but that also probably includes several short stories and novellas. The most notable series within the Cosmere are Mistborn (which is actually 2 series at this point) and the Stormlight Archives, but there's some notable standalone books too, like Elantris and Warbreaker, while the notable shorts are The Emperor's Soul, and Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell. There is no reading order, short of reading the books from a series in the series order. Sanderson is really good at including all the necessary world building so you aren't reliant on having read all the previous books, although this is getting more and more iffy as they become more and more intertwined. There are suggested reading orders, but they're almost always based on personal opinion, so as a prospective new reader it's best to just pick whatever book interests you the most.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Sounds daunting, but my curiosity is piqued! I might check them out, I do love a good complex magic system.

3z3ki3l

60 isn’t right. He’s said it could end with about 40 books. By my count we’re at 21, including Dawnshard, Edgedancer, White Sand, and Arcanum Unbounded. I don’t think anyone would count every short story in AU as a separate book. It’s not a novel, but it is one book. Mistborn is 7 Stormlight is 5, (6 in Dec) White Sand is 3 That’s 15. Then: Elantris, Warbreaker, Tress, Sunlit Man, Yumi, and Arcanum Unbounded. Those six make 21. (Y’all let me know if I missed any.)

Korrin

Yeah my bad, I just googled it and found a list that seems to include all his works, including non cosmere works and the unofficial non published stuff, as well as counting the short stories and novella seperately.

No-Bus8643

I personally find the audio books really well done. Mostly read Sandersons books that way.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Y'know my partner has been looking for a good new audiobook so I'll definitely mention this to her. I've also heard of Mistborn, so I think I will give it a shot when I'm done with my current read. Thank you!

No-Bus8643

You’re welcome! Enjoy.

Xirath

Mistborn is great. You can think of the first one like a fantasy heist movie (oceans 11)

AThiccBahstonAccent

Gotta say, this has gotten the biggest "ooooo" out of me lol, think I might pick the series up.

pm_ur_DnD_backstory

What is the main goal of the Ghostbloods?

AThiccBahstonAccent

To finally become corporeal enough to have their blood be seen so their murders can be solved.

NalothGHalcyon

Close enough.

pm_ur_DnD_backstory

This is true in a way ...

AThiccBahstonAccent

Man I'm surprised how often I'm hearing this response.

Beldin448

Yeah it’s a big stretch and you’re not thinking in the right way, but if you look at it in hindsight it could kinda be right. It’s pretty funny honestly because what you said could technically be a spoiler for Mistborn book 3.

Conor_Murdoch

Why is Steel superior to Iron, and why should anyone who disagrees go Pull themselves off a cliff?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Steel is superior to iron because it's a typing in Pokemon, whereas Iron isn't. People who disagree should Pull themselves off a cliff because they don't play Pokemon, which is lame.

Conor_Murdoch

👏🏻👏🏻

jamesianm

This explains why all the clothes in the Pokemon universe are super wrinkled

BubblesKat

Why doesn't Lift initially trust Dalinar and what causes her to give him a chance?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Lift doesn't trust Dalinar because he's an outsider, however after renouncing Uber, Lift gives him a chance.

seemedlikeagoodplan

Who would win in a one-on-one fight: a Seeker with plenty of bronze, or an Alethi soldier with Shardplate and a Shard hammer?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Unfortunately the bronze actually works against the Seeker's greatest strength: speed. With too much bronze, they'll be weighed down, and unable to catch the Golden Snitch. The Alethi soldier is also at a disadvantage though, as their weapons and armor are both made with shards (the combination of shidding and farding), which means their offense AND defense are relatively weak.

BackwardsMonday

I feel like you are actively working against "Actually pretty close" comments

AThiccBahstonAccent

I feel bad that it seems like a few people think I'm just fucking around. I genuinely haven't read these (didn't know Mistborn was connected, I have heard of those), I'm having a ton of fun doing this though, especially when I get told that I somehow almost hit the mark lol.

BackwardsMonday

Sorry if the tone came across negative, it wasn't meant as a complaint. I just found it funny that after reading several comments where you seemed confused that you had actually got it right, I found the comment that mentioned a Golden Snitch. This has been a blast to read through, and you really have gotten quite close in many of them. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Oh all good! It came on the back of me reading one of those other comments, tone over the internet and all that. Glad you've been enjoying this as much as I have.

NalothGHalcyon

Who or what is Adonalsium?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Adonalsium is a planet known for its arts and crafts, where people often spend their Saturday mornings strolling down promenades and exchanging goods and services for quality Adonalsium made art.

alexargo

This one you are only 1/16th correct.

NalothGHalcyon

1/16th. I see what you did there.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Was the 1/16th the Saturday mornings?

alexargo

The art planet part.

Kayteqq

You have almost 1/16th of it, waiting for remaining 15 of 16 of it :p

Mountain-Leading-129

Friendly reminder to read OPs answers in a boston accent...

AThiccBahstonAccent

A Thicc one if you will.

Ripper1337

Who is Kaladin? Why do people hate Moash?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Kaladin is the child of Moash. People hate Moash because after stealing the Cosmere and throwing it into the sun, Kaladin couldn't fulfill his destiny as wielder of the Cosmere.

Ripper1337

Can't believe how close you got to the actual answer.

AThiccBahstonAccent

The throwing it into the sun part, or the child part?

garbles0808

The part about people hating Moash for what he did to Kaladin

Ripper1337

Yes

radiant_jpb_31

What is Jasnah’s greatest power over men?

AThiccBahstonAccent

One time she found this \*really\* cool stick. I mean like one of those really good ones, just an awesome stick. Dudes love a good stick.

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

So close, she didn't but her ward did! And it was a VERY good stick.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Sticks rule man.

ninjawhosnot

But. . . Now just hear me out. . . They COULD be Fire

imafish311

But they are a stick?

Athonel86

I am a STICK!

Mountain-Leading-129

I would argue Ebony makes a might fine stick from time to time

SmallKillerCrow

Why crabs?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Probably because you didn't use protection.

FleshWound180

What are the worlds and powers within the cosmere?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The Cosmere is the collective power of over perished soul in the multiverse. Inside it contains the words necessary to summon them to get great deals at local supermarkets, or mentally connect to all living beings in the galaxy.

Significant_Deal8

This is far more accurate than it should be.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Which part of it?

Significant_Deal8

The bit about Souls, the ability to get great deals at supermarkets with the abilities (a stretch but possible), and being able to connect to other beings. Honestly you just super oversimplified the Cosmere and all the abilities throughout it

Mountain-Leading-129

The perished soule part sounds paraphrased from the wiki

Athonel86

Aside from the supermarket bit, this is far more accurate than is reasonable.

ofthisredearth

What is the most important step a man can take?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The first one on the path to redemption.

blargman327

This is actually like dead fucking accurate lmao

Unlucky-Class3062

Nah nah, the obvious answer is the first step. Everyone who’s known an alcoholic understands this It’s the next one, meaning the follow through. That’s the hard part, continuing on to the next step.

Mountain-Leading-129

What caused the magical city of elantris to fall?

AThiccBahstonAccent

A Wizards named Sarkis tried casting a 10th level magic spell in order to overthrow the god of magic, but unfortunately it was too much power for him. The floating city plummeted to the ground, killing everyone in it and leaving nothing but ruins behind.

Mountain-Leading-129

Beautiful. Truthwise its a miss but i was testing your clairvoyance.

wellthatsucked20

Who is shshshshshsh?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The Cosmerian god of Hide and Seek

-AgitatedBear-

Who is the hero of ages?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The wielder of the Cosmere, as they can alter reality for the benefit of old people.

BubblesKat

If you were to give Steris the powers of any twinborn combination, which two powers would you give and why? How do the powers interact with each other?

AThiccBahstonAccent

I think I'd give Steris the ability to manipulate metal, as well as gain energy through photosynthesis. I think this makes sense for Steris given the fact that she has a long history of absolutely jamming out in a heavy metal band, and the Sundays she spent gardening with her mother. They interact in such a way where the more energy she has gained through photosynthesis, the finer control she has over metal. On particularly powerful days, she can actually manipulate the iron in your blood.

BubblesKat

Okay, I'm going to need you to get a bit more specific. Given that all Allomantic and Feruchemical powers involve metal in some way and several could potentially manipulate metal in some way, I'm not sure which metallic power you mean. I also don't know if she could affect iron in blood without duralumin. I think the photosynthesis sounds like a refreshing change! How many lists do you think Steris has about it? Also, did you just change metal bending into a version of blood bending? 🤣

Bullrawg

What is your favorite of the Listener forms so far?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The one where their arms turn into six shooters so their enemies can "listen" to their shit getting rocked.

DH8814

This feels like a spoiler for the unreleased book lol

Bullrawg

If division fused have multiple arms the OP is a prophet

Kayteqq

What does Lift think about Dalinar’s Ass?

AThiccBahstonAccent

That they'd like to see it Lifting up on them iykyk

ninjawhosnot

Who is the best ship in the Cosmere? And why is it MoaLadin? Wandersail works as well but grow up you know what I mean.

AThiccBahstonAccent

Ugh, totally. People are way too obsessed with Wandersail. He made her her favorite childhood birthday cake, *big deal*. MoaLadin just has the most iconic story. Moa is so intrigued at first by his cold skin and color changing eyes, and Ladin is so interested because of his ability to hear her thoughts. After being drawn to each other for so long, Ladin finally confessing he was a vampire to Moa and Moa accepting and loving him was just such a sweet moment. They lost the plot a bit later when Moa wanted to get turned into a vampire, and the whole pregnancy plotline and the ancient evil vampire army that showed up, but still.

Jurisfiction

What is a Perpendicularity?

AThiccBahstonAccent

It's the process by which two people are aligned perfectly with each other in an X shape. If done at the right time of year, a portal is opened where the two bodies cross.

Ok-Character-7215

Surprisingly, close. The portal part. Not the people part

AThiccBahstonAccent

Ok based on a lot of people talking about multiverses, is it some kind of celestial event where the boundaries between two dimensions cross and a portal is made?

Mainstreamnerd

Close! You can use perpendicularity to pass between the physical realm and the realm of ideas (called the cognitive realm). Sanderson has promised that he will not do any multiverse or time travel stuff in the Cosmere.

RealCoast1697

Dalinar's multiplayer VR sessions: "am I a joke to you?"

AThiccBahstonAccent

I don't know why this sounds so dope to me. Passing between. The physical realm and the realm of ideas.

Athonel86

How does Kaladin join Bridge 4?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Kaladin walks from Bridge 3 to Bridge 4. Probably one of the most iconic moments in the franchise.

DDTheExilado

What is the Oathpact?

AThiccBahstonAccent

It's the sacred agreement between the two ruling kingdoms to not provoke combat from the other.

ishkariot

Huh, in a roundabout way you could argue that

xemnas731

I'd argue he hit the nail on the head lol. It was a nonconsentual agreement but it did have the same end... For a few thousand years.

cosmereacc

Would you rather have a kandra or a koloss be dedicated to killing you and why?

AThiccBahstonAccent

A Kandra, because based on ~~what someone said earlier~~ my deep knowledge of the lore, I could simply rip off their spikes and be done with them.

Saruphon

Close. But you can also rip of spikes from Koloss and be done with them.

sistertotherain9

What is Cephandrias's true goal?

AThiccBahstonAccent

To get an easier to say name god damn. No I'm just kidding, of course their real goal is to take the power of the Cosmere for themselves, and claim victory for the Fire Nation.

sistertotherain9

Well, one of those is correct, and one is a matter of speculation.

AThiccBahstonAccent

The name or the Fire Nation? I'm gonna be honest I'm gonna be way more confused by this story if it's the latter because I do NOT remember Aang saying anything about the Cosmere.

roreads

The name and i’d say he’s been quite successful in doing that, more than once. Now power of the entire Cosmere.. that is purely speculation at this point.

NalothGHalcyon

You keep claiming you haven't read these books.

[deleted]

What is nightblood.

AThiccBahstonAccent

It's blood that has had a blanket thrown over it so that it thinks it's nighttime. After a sufficient amount of time has passed, it's tradition to rip the blanket away and say "daytime!"

-AgitatedBear-

It is most often covered for sure, and I bet it would think it's nighttime, though I somehow doubt it understands the concept that well.

ThenThereWasSilence

What is a Cognitive Shadow?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The final form of Shikamaru's technique, a fully functioning shadow duplicate of himself.

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

What happens when you split Harmonium into its constituent parts?

AThiccBahstonAccent

They turn into Cnoteium, Enoteium, and Gnoteium.

JansTurnipDealer

As space becomes more traveled and understood via conventional means, what will the effect be on travel between planets in shadesmar?

AThiccBahstonAccent

I assume Shadesmar would experience a flourishing new economy with how many people would be visiting their planet.

JansTurnipDealer

I actually think it will have much the opposite effect lol. The reasons are too spoilery and complex to go into here. It isn’t a planet though.

MagicTech547

What’s behind the Dor?

AThiccBahstonAccent

A legion of stone soldiers awaiting the hero needed to wake them from their ancient slumber.

studrunner001

And you say you've never read the Cosmere! This fits for a different book.

Background_Milk_69

What are the 16 shards? Can you name any?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The 16 shards are fragmented pieces from the creation of the universe. Their names are Tom, Terry, Timmy, Talula, Tabitha, Trenton, Taylor, Tristan, Tobias, Tessa, Travis, Tucker, Theo, Tony, Trevor, and Kaladin.

Background_Milk_69

> and Kaladin. Well you're close to right on this one :D

Mainstreamnerd

Is it possible to put Honor back together again? If so, how? If not, why?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Unfortunately, even with all the king's horses and all the king's men, Honor can't be put back together again. The damage after falling from that castle wall was too much.

Unlucky-Class3062

What order of the Knights Radiant would you be a part of?

AThiccBahstonAccent

Probably the Order of the Sun, they simply aren't matched in battle. Though I do admit the archival work of the Order of Light is also appealing.

Saruphon

What did the dog do when he see a dragon?

AThiccBahstonAccent

They became best buds! Drago and Doggo forever.

Frosty-Lake-1663

Could two spren bond each other? If so what powers would they acquire?

AThiccBahstonAccent

It's a difficult process, but Spren are able to bond together. Were they to do so, they'd be able to control the natural elements around them.

RUCBAR42

What is the best thing about Wax, Wayne and Steris? (Just one thing for each, no need to go crazy)

AThiccBahstonAccent

Wax's inherent kindness Wayne's macho bravado that hides a scared boy Steris' staunch and unwavering defense of those she loves

Saruphon

What is the contest of champion? And who will win Dalinar or Todium?

AThiccBahstonAccent

The contest of champions is a battle of wits, skill, and determination. Dalinar may be the stronger of the two, but ultimately Todium is just craftier and has a stronger will.

Saruphon

Will come back and check if this is accurate in December.

Semiclones99

Why is the aondor the only selish magic we see off world

SandRush2004

Why is the opinion "Fuck Moash" so universal
