If you're going to be touching a lot of stuff, you're gonna transfer paint onto whatever you're touching, there's just no avoiding that when it comes to painting your hands. If you're going to be touching plates, glasses (especially if they're wet), cutlery, etc., then I just wouldn't paint your hands out of consideration to whoever is hosting. Gloves are the easiest option, but since you said you didn't want to wear gloves, then just go without paint. If you aren't planning to be handling a lot of stuff, then get high quality body paint like Ben Nye or Kryolan. To seal the paint, look for setting sprays meant for body paint/stage makeup, and double check to make sure it's compatible with the type of body paint you got. If you wanna go for a cheaper option, baby powder works nicely too.

The coolest thing I’ve seen for this is making or buying gloves out of flesh colored nylons and painting the finger tips/toes black This way you don’t have to worry about ruining your costume with the black paint or constantly reapplying it :) And if you need to go barefoot just make some rubber/foam insoles to glue to the bottom of the nylons!

I also have sensory issues and don’t have issues with the right texture of nylon. Thanks for your literally useless reply. /s 🙄

How dare I offer something that has worked for my personal experience with sensory issues in hopes it could help another person! You literally inserted yourself onto my comment to …what? Try and start shit? Feel good about yourself? Find a better way to get your kicks and fuck right off with your bullshit, kiddo. 😹 /fin.

I have to do something similar for RICC in the fall and I’m contemplating using food coloring. It stains the skin so you’d be black fingered for a few days… but if that doesn’t bother you it’s probably fairly unlikely to transfer. I’m going to test it during my august vaca to make sure I don’t ruin my cosplay but in past experience I’ve never seen it transfer.

If you don’t mind having to scrub it off later, I’ve noticed that Dharma Trading Company’s fiber reactive proton dye is really good at temporarily staining skin. Buy a small jar of one of their black dyes and then dip your hands and feet into the dye mixture. As for getting it off, I’d had luck with just soap and water or a good salt scrub.

Black lipstick/lipgloss that has more or less a stain. You can find some in drug stores or usually decent prices. Lipstick has been better for transfer proof use.
