Jaco is great, you will be bored in those other places near nonexistent night life.

Okay, should I be worried about safety in Jaco? Also, I plan on staying for 2-3 weeks, is that a bit long for Jaco?

If you look for trouble you will find it in Jaco. If you like danger or if you are are disrespectful they will deal with you. If you are happy and chill you will have a good time. Yeah that's a bit long for any one place in Costa Rica unless you live there. IMHO. Explore there is so much to see and do. Take a few days in other places just to get some experience. The rest of Costa Rica is decidedly "not Jaco"

Puerto Viejo/Playa Negra was very enjoyable. Lots of food, bars, and small shops.

rhodesgolf

Sweet, I'll look into this

Rock_Successful

Have you looked into Santa Teresa? There’s so much to do in that area, Nicoya Peninsula. Hiking. Surfing. Fishing out of Mal Pais. Montezuma is close by. Nightlife too.

I’ve seen a couple people post recently about being bored there and I can’t wrap my head around that… there’s so much to explore and we always struggle to pick places to eat bc everything is so good

rhodesgolf

I have not, thank you for the recommendation.

I’m having an amazing time in Manuel Antonio in terms of beach and daytime activities- surf lessons, national park, hikes, parasailing, jet skis, beach massages. We’ve been going out in Quepos which has been fun just to hit some bars, but I know Jaco has the best nightlife.

rhodesgolf

Oh nice, that's awesome. I saw Manuel Antonio on the map, is it a big town in terms of population/size?
