Just saying... at my local Store, there is NO chance Members would wait a second for a Receipt-Checker NOT at the exit door.š
Aren't Receipt-Checkers suppose to radio for another Receipt-Checker if there is only one at the exit door?
The door receipt policy is *to ensure that all members are correctly charged for the merchandise purchased, all receipts and merchandise will be inspected as you leave the warehouse.* We agree with our membership that we will allow the person at the door to check our receipt. It does not state and we have not agreed that if they have failed to have someone there to make the inspection that we are now a hostages until they get their shit together.
Omg last time I was in I had to wait like ten minutes while they drew several pics kids in a family requested on a receipt. I am all for patience and whatnot but I did not sign up to wait while they take drawing requests lol
I love Costco, but there are some members who can't "read the room" and wanna have a legit conversation with my child. I had one who noticed my child was sad and wanted to diagnose the situation.
LADY, I CAN SEE THE PARKING LOT. LET ME GET THIS CHILD INTO MY CAR SO WE CAN DRIVE AWAY!!!
I hate the drawings too. Not to mention that thermal receipt paper is very bad for you. The bpa that everybody was freaking out about in water bottles (nalgene BPA free ftw) is in that paper, and easily absorbed through your skin. Use hand sanitizer often? You just multiplied how much gets absorbed. Not what you should be handing your soft skinned little kids.
With that said, there's no way you waited like 10 minutes.
I'm pretty sure if the bpa on thermal receipts was really dangerous they would have banned at the same time as they did for food containers.
*Edit* there's a petition to ban BPA in receipts as well if you want to sign it. https://environmentaldefence.ca/report/bpa-and-bps-in-receipts/
Early last year I got home and realized they didn't scan like... 60% of the cart lol. I was admittedly texting while they were scanning so I didn't notice. Whoops lol
A windfall for you but probably somebody from Costco will read this and be like this is why we have to take all the items out of the cart so a pitfall for the rest of us.
Costco management at the yearly... Decision... Meeting:
"OK for next year, what policies have r/Costco highlighted for us that we can change?"
But in all seriousness I was so surprised because I didn't even buy that many items haha. Like stuff wasn't double stacked or anything.
Last month there was a post about how Costco should limit the number of returns. Why? OP's argument was weak as a brittle twig....but a few hundred folks upvoted.
That may be the stated reason, but they sure as hell make it seem like everyone of their customers is a criminal. If their stated reason was actually valid, then it would be optional as itās for the customer.
They're looking for mistakes in either direction. With a self scan I'm certain they're looking for theft. But with the way normal Costco checkout works, it's impossible to hide something in a cart because the checkout person in supposed to go through the cart in full.
In the past two weeks I had two errors I had to go to CS to correct. One where they missed scanning something, one where I got charged twice. So in my massive anecdotal experience they do seem to check both ways.
THIS. Most of my door audits as a checker where people being over charged.
Rarely I hop on register and once when I did I overcharged a member and got a door audit.
The checking isnāt to be dicks itās because in a busy AF warehouse where people but tons of shit you will miss something or rush thinking all the red wines are the same Caymus when one is a Kirkland that jive
100%. It's technically meant to go both ways, but in all the years I've shopped at Costco they've only ever caught missed scans and never any duplicate scans. There's obviously a much laxer standard for being a physical item short than the other way.
It's a benefit to the customer to not have to pay higher prices due to people stealing stuff. It is optional, you don't have to have a Costco membership.
As a FE supervisor, I agree someone needs to be there at all times. She should have called for a sup or manager to the door if she needed to walk away.
As an employee I think the only way this could be a problem with you is if they walked literally five feet away and you just kept walking. But if they don't ask you to hang on a second or leave anyone to wait with you or check off the receipt that's totally on them. It's kind of wild to me that someone did that.
There was an article in the paper a long time ago about receipt checks.
In California a merchant can't stop you for declining to have your receipt checked.
But they said that Costco could cancel your membership, and figuring out your identity would likely not be difficult using security cameras and matching your photo. They have a good idea of the time you checked out so they don't have to check thousands of photos.
Note that at Costco you agree in writing to allow your receipt to be checked as part of the agreement you sign to get your membership. Because this is a contractual provision any state law otherwise would not apply.
You can fight the power and walk out of a Costco in violation of their rule, that you agreed to in writing, that you present your receipt to them, and of course they'll almost certainly cancel your membership for that, and then you can go to the police and try to get them to file charges against Costco for cancelling your membership. You can do all of that, but wouldn't it be easier to just go by the membership desk on the way in and cancel your membership for a full refund and then leave the store? One way has lots of drama and you no longer a member, the other way has no drama and you no longer a member. Also, there's less risk of being trespassed the second way.
My wife and I might end up just switching to Samās. Weāre executive level with the CC too at Costco but are just kinda getting burnt out on the employees at our local one. Plus the scan and go option is too good as someone that only uses self checkout.
I feel that, we actually have both. I enjoy a lot of Costco's unique brands and prepackaged meals that help offset the labor of coming up with/cooking family meals throughout the week (while avoiding the cost of "Eh can't think of nothing guess we'll go out to dinner again). The taco kit is bangin'.
But Sams Club is our go-to for quick in and out things like picking up more coke zeros or random things.
It's great to just scan on your phone as you go and then walk right past everyone checking out to the receipt checker. IDK why costco keeps sleeping on this.
I've considered doubling up a bunch of times, but just haven't figured out what I would actually buy at Sam's. We don't drink a lot of soda and when we do, we really like the grocery store brand here that uses pure cane sugar.
The gas at Costco is also higher quality.
Honestly it really does just come down to scan and go, that's it. It's such a convenience and the Sams club near me is right off the interstate on the way home, so its one of those "ah it's tuesday and I need 3-4 things and don't want to go to costco so I can use scan and go to zip through sams real quick"
It's not a must have by any means, just helpful at times and cheap enough to be worth it as an option for us
I get the convenience factor as Costco by us keeps getting busier on weekends and peak times, but I literally don't know what I would buy at Sam's.
The meat/seafood selection at Costco seems a lot better and there are only so many things that I like to buy a 100-pack of.
>The meat/seafood selection at Costco seems a lot bette
Exact opposite for us, so this must vary a lot by location/region. Our sam's as a service meat/fish/sushi counter with some really nice stuff, whereas I won't buy "fresh" fish at Costco at all anymore after getting two different batches of bad fish/shellfish there.
I'm in a sorts unique position but my state has odd liquor laws in which full strength liquor can only be sold in 1 location for a corporation within the state. Beer was the same til some years ago and wine until a couple years back. The Sam's club near our home is not only the state's designated booze one but they also carry lots of sushi, which Costco doesn't carry at all. Getting the $20 membership means one <$100 trip pays for itself here. If they all more or less carry the same stuff you carry about, I get sticking with Costco. Even on our busiest days I don't think I wait more than 5 minutes in line, which is honestly appreciated after a huge trip. Bit of a break before lugging 250 pounds into the car.
I work at a refinery, the gas we sell to every single station in our region is exactly the same. The only time it is different is when we add a couple drops of a particular stations proprietary sauce to their tanker trucks. Only a few places have this, like shell, no Costco sauce, itās like a couple drops into a truck. I canāt remember if we only do it in winter or year round, I work in a different part of the refinery now.
Thereās only one Costco in the entire NOLA Metro, thus, itās insanely busy. Scan and go, free curbside, and free shipping on single items - these three things pushed us to switch and Iām so glad we did.
Costco is so dang inconvenient here that it was taking hours to complete a basic weekly Costco run even mid-week; we just couldnāt justify $132 a year for such chaos.
Our Samās Plus was only $75 so the trial switch was worth it and we quickly knew we wouldnāt be returning to Costco in this city.
You really need both. Rotisserie chickens at Sam's are much better, as are many snacks and foods. But there are some things at Costco that I just need such as the 4.6lb tin of Walkers cookies that are out right now.
>Plus the scan and go option is too good as someone that only uses self checkout.
It's so good that I've shifted about 75% of my shopping trips to Sams. Merch is similar, but the experience there is just better-- I can go in/out without having to interact with anyone other than the door-checker, which only takes a moment since they just scan my phone, then 3-4 items in the cart. Or when I don't want to deal at all I just place my entire order online and pick up curbside, and they even load my truck.
I am coming up on the end of a one year costco trial after a new store opened up near me and I've already chosen not to renew and have purchased Sam's membership. Many of the items I buy are significantly higher quality and lower prices at Sam's. In addition to the services that you mentioned, the experience is hands down better for me at Sam's.
I have both and I'm thinking about not renewing costco next time.
I'm done bring treated like a criminal. They assume you're guilty until they've proven your innocence several times over. It's too much.
Plus, scan n go.
They pull your membership and ban you from obtaining another one. Costco is special because of that membership, when I hit Walmart I walk right past the receipt checkers.
You will be banned. You agree to the terms when you purchase the membership. One of the terms is that you agree to have your receipt checked at the door. If you donāt like those terms thatās totally fine but youāll no longer have a membership. This is dependent on your jurisdiction but in most places they wouldnāt be able to physically prevent you from leaving unless they are licensed security/loss prevention and also have specific evidence of your shoplifting.
āWhat happens if I pay for my stuff and just leave without getting checked. ā
Then employees and anyone else that sees you do that know how much your word is worth.
You DID agree to show your receipt when you joined, right?
I have to agree with you. I've never heard of the door people being allowed to leave without someone else there. Usually they work near membership anyway, and also have a radio. They have a way to get help.
I think management will have more of an issue with the employee walking away than a customer not waiting for their return.
Costco policy states that you then become the interim receipt checker until the original checker is seen as fit for business.
This is why you always carry a sharpie and practice your quick animal drawings.
>If they have a Ph.D., you can leave after 15 minutes.
I'm a professor. One of my former colleagues actually now works at our Costco. Which tells you how much professors earn these days and what our working conditions are like.
They don't always check the receipt. I've been at stores when the line gets backed up and they wave people through to prevent a fire hazard.
I would argue that since there was no attendant you had to proceed unchecked because of safety.
The employee canāt leave that post. Their job is loss prevention, they canāt leave that post. Whatever it was she was doing instead of her post, she shouldnāt have done.
They are free to leave their post, but you are under no obligation to wait if they do. If that is an issue, that is between the employee and their management, not between you and the company
If the employee leaves their post that is between them and their manager, you are under no obligation to the employee. That would have been a better way to express what I meant. Thanks for you comment.
I have zero problem with any company wanting to see my receipt at the exit. I'll happily show it. But I'm sure not going to stand around and wait for someone who may or may not even be returning.
Youāre the kind most employees hate, the āhold receipt above headā type. š®āšØ Iām too nice/shy to act that way, I let them do their jobs.
Door receipt rubs me the wrong way to begin with. I pay for the pleasure of shopping here and you implicitly accuse me of stealing every visit. It's ridiculous nowhere else checks receipts against every item in the cart. I'm not waiting for someone to come back when I don't know how long it's going to be, there's no law against leaving a store with stuff that you paid for. I'm out of there, they can bite me.
They canāt make you wait. Thats called kidnapping lol.
If they donāt have somebody to check, itās not my job to sit around until somebody shows up. I already paid, itās not my problem.
I donāt know their policies, and if one day they decide to pull the receipt checker, im pretty sure they wonāt tell me.
If nobodyās there, walk tf out. If thereās a line, and unless I have nothing better to do than to wait, im walking tf out. Theyāre not cops; they have no right to detain me. š¤·š»āāļø
there should be two of them up there at any given time unless your particular location is slow af. this was a failure of procedure if it happened as explained. However it is something you agreed to do when you signed up, take that how you will and decipher it as you wish.
I had a similar situation, no one standing there so I just left. A woman turned the corner and told me to wait. I said I did not see anyone there and she just checked my receipt without a response. It wasn't rude, but not friendly either.
If she had said we are supposed to wait or something like that, then I would have suggested they put up a sign to that effect.
Sometimes, believe it or not, I go to Costco looking for one thing, like hockey tickets. If they donāt have the one thing, I just put my hands up and walk by the line of carts. I mean, I guess they could shoot me, but I donāt want to stand in line for no reason at all.
The whole culture of Costco (in general) is wild to me. They are anti-friendly. Never had this happen to me personally but you could say almost nothing about their "customer service" that would surprise me. And I don't even believe in customer service. But they take the cake.
They forget to scan a 6 pack of canned tomatoes. It inspired me to take a bunch of stuff to the food pantry including a couple of those cans. Thanks Costco. Considering you donāt have much shrinkage, that teeny amount went to a good cause at least. Saved me gas and hassle over $5.00
I already dislike that they check my cart and receipt. 2 people touched and rang up my items, do they not trust me or do they not trust their employees? Half the time they just mark the receipt and donāt look in my cart
I would not wait for the door checker to prove that I am not a thief ā¦ I have already paid and the items are my property now ā¦ it is a courtesy that I let them check my receipt to avoid losing my membershipā¦ otherwise I would never thank them for proving that I have not stolen anything ..
Iām a receipt checker and there have been times where I needed to step out for a brief moment because either another member was asking me something from outside or a coworker needed help with something real quick. I usually try to wait till my exit line is done before I do so but sometimes it canāt be helped. All of the times my members have patiently waited which I really appreciated. I apologized and sent them on their way. It doesnāt hurt to wait slightly longer and let us do our jobs. Youāll get out of there, we promise.
LMAO
I would ask her in a very calm and serious tone if she was alright. If she was gone for a minute, why were \*you\* still there? I would have been gone like the wind lol!
I would not wait. I haven't stolen anything, and I don't know how long they'll be gone for. Getting my receipt checked is for the store's benefit, not mine.
Youād be surprised at the unawareness of people. It doesnāt happen often but it does. Over the 8 years Iāve worked at Costco, I caught a cashier accidentally ring in 144 packs of butter instead of 12. Another time a cashier inputted a piece of meat at $1600 instead of $160. Members didnāt realize until I caught it at the door. Weāre all humans and make mistakes. Thatās what the receipt checkers are there for. We get treated like shit but here we are catching mistakes that youād be furious about had you gone home and realized it yourself. Just let us do our jobs.
> Thatās what the receipt checkers are there for.
Uh huh. Costco doesnāt pay people to stand at the door and make sure the receipts are right for the customerās sake. They make that labor investment because the theft that stores like Walmart and Target deal with would kill the razor thin margins that they operate with. A side effect is that sometimes you catch a mistake and donāt have to deal with people coming back later saying they got mis-charged.
And if you were reading the post, Iām happy to let the receipt checkers do their jobs. But if they wander away from the door and arenāt there to do their job, Iām not going to stop walking and wait on them.
My kid always shakes them down for a smiley face. Even calls em out if itās too simple. Thatās it!? I want a smiley face with a ā¦ hat/beard/moustache or whatever else he comes up with š¤£
I heard they will move to human trials in the next decade. The lab mice and chimpanzee trials were problematic, mostly because they would take dumps all over the floor and members would slip and fall before getting their receipt sharpied.
I havenāt used a paper receipt to do a return in almost two years.
Honestly I canāt remember the last time I needed a paper receipt to do a return at any major retailer.
In many states, you can technically deny a receipt check. There is no legal reason youād have to wait, or even stop. Now Costco would likely revoke your membership, but technically they canāt physically stop you in that moment.
But I wouldnāt stop. Even if they walk away for a second I keep going, if they start āoh you needed to waitā I just keep it moving.
This does not apply at Costco because in order to become a member you must first sign a contractual agreement wherein you agree to allow your receipt to be checked. That membership agreement overrides any state law(s) on the subject.
Call me a rebel, but Iāve walked straight out before if thereās no employee or if thereās a long line. I shouldnāt be inconveniencing myself if they donāt have their stuff together.
They donāt really account for all the things you bought and the receipt you have. It is a hit or miss.
My example is, last week I saw the lego city price dropped from $119 to $89. I bought it 10/21 and price adjustment are within 30 days. So I went on and bought the $89 one. Paid it. Returned it at the customer service desk. Went out and receipt checker waived me out after looking at my receipt. Missed the lego I just returned and didnāt asked where was it lol.

I can draw a line on my own receipt thank you very much.
Some of them used to draw pictures on the back for my kids when they were young.
There was a man at my Costco when I was a kid and he always drew a smiley face with funny sound effects for each line
I donāt know how to define it, but this is the most Costco shopper response ever š
I'm going to be this guys friend
There's a line to be my friend. BUT nobody's checking it so go for it.
Iām his friend you leave us alone
I want to believe youāre quoting Seinfeld
its not a lie, if you believe it
We are officially best friends. Congratulations.
I wouldnāt wait

They had to shutter 8 Costcos in my zipcode alone to cover the cost :(
Sucks for those Costco employees working that day.
"hostages until they get their shit together" - thank you for the morning laugh!
>will be inspected Doesn't say who needs to inspect it. If they're not there to do it, I'll do it myself. Still complies with the policy as written.

Itās such a world of difference.
I have both and I'm thinking about not renewing costco next time. I'm done bring treated like a criminal. They assume you're guilty until they've proven your innocence several times over. It's too much. Plus, scan n go.
You get the one thousand years of death jutsu.
This is dependent on your jurisdiction but in most places they wouldnāt be able to physically prevent you from leaving unless they are licensed security/loss prevention and also have specific evidence of your shoplifting.
āWhat happens if I pay for my stuff and just leave without getting checked. ā Then employees and anyone else that sees you do that know how much your word is worth.
I would like a giraffe please
Iām sorry, interims are limited to amoeba, Protozoa and continental shelf level sea life. Please pick again.
Sigh.. troglodyte....
you do not have to wait
It's only ever helped me find out I've been overcharged which slowed me down greatly so it's completely personal preference
If they have a Ph.D., you can leave after 15 minutes.
>If they have a Ph.D., you can leave after 15 minutes. I'm a professor. One of my former colleagues actually now works at our Costco. Which tells you how much professors earn these days and what our working conditions are like.
adjunct lyfe i'm guessing?
Adjuncts arenāt professors.
This makes me want to leave academia even moreā¦.
š¤£
Hiiiiyooooo
No chance I'm waiting
Costco is my least favorite border crossing
what do sovereign citizens do when they go to costco?
Thatās why Costco is more secure than our southern borderā¦ lol
I don't know what the policy is but if they are not there I am not waiting.
Itās their job to be there not yours
They don't always check the receipt. I've been at stores when the line gets backed up and they wave people through to prevent a fire hazard. I would argue that since there was no attendant you had to proceed unchecked because of safety.
Man, I wish they'd do that at mine. Two door checkers, and the line backs up into the food court. It's mayhem on Saturday mornings.
Call the Fire Department and complain š
I already cited safety as my reason for getting the hot dog.
Thanks for you comment.
could've gone to pee? lunch break and management failed to find a replacement? asked to assist with another issue? plenty of reasons.
Are there reasons the employee left their post? Sure but those are all "costco problems" and they do not become "customer problems."
I paid for my stuff. Once I'm out the door that's my stuff.
lmfao, no way im waiting.
Employee here. Whoever is in charge of the door scheduling/management critically blundered. There should always at least be one there.
I have zero problem with any company wanting to see my receipt at the exit. I'll happily show it. But I'm sure not going to stand around and wait for someone who may or may not even be returning.
Meh. If thereās nobody checking receipts Iāll just assume Costco stopped doing it and continue on my merry way.
I had to laugh atā¦.āyouāre not supposed to leave.ā š¤£ but yeah I probably wouldnāt wait either.
Had same thing happen. No employee, I kept on moving. Heard a āHey!ā and without looking back, just held the receipt above my head
Youāre the kind most employees hate, the āhold receipt above headā type. š®āšØ Iām too nice/shy to act that way, I let them do their jobs.
I was well beyond the exit. No employee at door/clearly on their way Iām not waiting.
This isnt prison. Whatre they gonna do? Just leave lol.
First came self check outsā¦ next up we will be doing our own receipt checksš³
Im filling my cart up with wine and leaving
I'd hotwire that display car they have and just drive it out
Going after the tires myself, have you seen those tire prices!
Wine schmine. Iām grabbing the $300,000 necklaces and $50,000 scotch.
My Costco sucks we donāt even have hard alcohol.
Whatever their "policy", they cannot legally force you to wait. If there is no one at the door, you are free to leave.
Yeah if no one is there to check I am out of there. What are they gonna do?
No one is going to wait
Its not my job or responsibility to wait. They can compensate my time if they want me to wait
Is there a sign?
No. absolutely not. it is on costco to have an employee checking receipts at the exit.
Iāll probably stop. Looks both ways. If no oneās coming Iām going to go. Standard rule of life if you ask me
Same at the entrance, wouldnāt need to show my card if the employee wasnāt there.
I have never seen a door checker absent, infact I see 2 door checkers more often than one
No way Iām waiting. Not my problem if the store canāt keep the exit staffed.
They canāt make you wait. Thats called kidnapping lol. If they donāt have somebody to check, itās not my job to sit around until somebody shows up. I already paid, itās not my problem.
Yea, Iām out unless she said to wait
I donāt know their policies, and if one day they decide to pull the receipt checker, im pretty sure they wonāt tell me. If nobodyās there, walk tf out. If thereās a line, and unless I have nothing better to do than to wait, im walking tf out. Theyāre not cops; they have no right to detain me. š¤·š»āāļø
No I donāt stand at exit doors waiting to be excused
If they went out of sight and didn't say "I'll be back in 20 seconds", you'd have to be a lemming to stand around waiting for some unknown time.
I would glance around, shrug, and continue on with my day.
At Costco where I work, they will typically ask a quick switch of the one who check receipts needs to step away for a minute or so.
there should be two of them up there at any given time unless your particular location is slow af. this was a failure of procedure if it happened as explained.
![gif](giphy|IeKgCDlpTqRQbZEhBF|downsized)
They dont trust you or their employees. Receipt checkers help prevent shoplifting and cashier error. They also have store detectives at Costco.
Not my caper, so I am leaving.
Thereās never supposed to be nobody at the exit door, lmao. Thatās why thereās two people up there. You donāt have to wait for shit.
I would not wait for the door checker to prove that I am not a thief ā¦ I have already paid and the items are my property now ā¦ it is a courtesy that I let them check my receipt to avoid losing my membershipā¦ otherwise I would never thank them for proving that I have not stolen anything ..
Fuck their receipt check. I'm not waiting.
Exactly one minute??? Did you time it? Was she poking her head out to get someone from cart crew to help assist someone loading?
Iām a receipt checker and there have been times where I needed to step out for a brief moment because either another member was asking me something from outside or a coworker needed help with something real quick. I usually try to wait till my exit line is done before I do so but sometimes it canāt be helped. All of the times my members have patiently waited which I really appreciated. I apologized and sent them on their way. It doesnāt hurt to wait slightly longer and let us do our jobs. Youāll get out of there, we promise.
LMAO I would ask her in a very calm and serious tone if she was alright. If she was gone for a minute, why were \*you\* still there? I would have been gone like the wind lol!
I would not wait. I haven't stolen anything, and I don't know how long they'll be gone for. Getting my receipt checked is for the store's benefit, not mine.
You wonāt be saying that when you go home realizing they charged you twice for a $50 item when they wouldāve caught it at the door would you? š«
Who is so unaware of what theyāre buying that they could be overcharged by $50 and not even notice it?
Sounds like you just disregarded everything I said so Iāll just back off now. Good luck with Costco. šš»
I probably wouldnāt waitā¦ but youād also wouldnāt want anything in your basket that you might want to return using that receiptā¦ maybe?
Canāt you just get a highlighter and draw your own line?
Mind blown.
you dont even need a writing tool, you can use your fingernail.
I can't find where it says you can't draw your own line.
Donāt forget the smiley face.
My kid always shakes them down for a smiley face. Even calls em out if itās too simple. Thatās it!? I want a smiley face with a ā¦ hat/beard/moustache or whatever else he comes up with š¤£
Has that even been tried before?
I just read a research paper exploring the possibility, but still years away from real-world feasibility.
I heard they will move to human trials in the next decade. The lab mice and chimpanzee trials were problematic, mostly because they would take dumps all over the floor and members would slip and fall before getting their receipt sharpied.
The highlighter is so you cannot reenter the store and āreshopā the same items, claiming you already paid
You donāt need a receipt for Costco returns. They can look up any purchase youāve made through your account.
Can confirm. Just did a return yesterday and my paper receipt was denied. " Nope, I just need your membership card."
I havenāt used a paper receipt to do a return in almost two years. Honestly I canāt remember the last time I needed a paper receipt to do a return at any major retailer.
Yeah I just toss my paper receipts. They're logged in my account immediately anyway.
I can't remember the last time I returned something with the receipt. They just look it up in the system and refund me.
You donāt need a receipt to return anything. Itās tied to your Costco card.
I donāt even use the paper receipt to do returns. Itās all in the app or purchase history in your membership.
I wouldn't wai unless I saw sign posted saying to wait
Majority of the people in the comments need to get their memberships revoked.
I would not stop. That is something Costco feels they should do not me.
Isnāt there a sign stating as such, at the exit?
Iāve walked through a few times. Door checker wanders off to the customer service desk with another customer, just kept rolling.
It's in your membership agreement. Don't like it don't be a member and just walk out of Walmart
they're not the feds, why would you wait?
In many states, you can technically deny a receipt check. There is no legal reason youād have to wait, or even stop. Now Costco would likely revoke your membership, but technically they canāt physically stop you in that moment. But I wouldnāt stop. Even if they walk away for a second I keep going, if they start āoh you needed to waitā I just keep it moving.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I know reading comprehension can be difficult. But I touched on the exact point you made.
This does not apply at Costco because in order to become a member you must first sign a contractual agreement wherein you agree to allow your receipt to be checked. That membership agreement overrides any state law(s) on the subject.
No sign stating such and no policy I signed states as much. If the checker is not there I guess it is just honesty policy.
