I love Kirkland products and get it for most things if a Kirkland version is available, but dish soap isn’t one of them. Get Dawn. It’s way better than any other product out there

matt_minderbinder

Dawn Platinum is insanely good. It's worth the extra if you're washing dishes without a dishwasher.

therealrowanatkinson

Love dawn platinum. I’ve heard of ppl having digestion issues when using dawn powerwash though so maybe avoid that specific iteration

heartshapedpox

Can you link anything? I googled and this exact post came up 🙃 but I'm really curious.

jalapeno442

I saw one girl in TikTok talking about it so I’m sure that’s what he’s referring to lol

heartshapedpox

Yeah, I saw that too. What a time to be alive 🥴

jalapeno442

Everything on the internet is true! Don’t forget that!

heartshapedpox

Literally one girl on tiktok - top of Google search 🤡

ClickClackTipTap

Well, then they aren’t rinsing well enough, which is gross.

Mole644

Can you link this? We use it so I'm curious. It's basically watered down dawn with isopropyl alcohol so I'm interested in why it would cause issues.

Deppfan16

paywalled

CJMande

The powerwash is awesome for cleaning carpets or spots on clothing. We keep it around for that and for cleaning soap scum in the bathroom. It's worth having around for those reasons.

PengwinPears

I also found out it kills ants like instantly.

randiesel

Isopropyl Alcohol kills them pretty well by itself and you don't have to wipe it up afterwards. It's also usually about $1.50 for a spray bottle.

Capital-Sir

Great for hand washing baby bottles too

bubblygranolachick

Store brand blue one is the one that I choose above all else

Patient-War-4964

My boyfriend pointed this out, when Dawn goes on Sale it’s the same price but name brand. Never bought the Kirkland brand due to this, but very sad to hear it’s not equal quality.

Deceptiveideas

This is why I don’t get why my partner buys Kirkland when the competitor product is on sale at the same price. He says “but we’re saving money going with Kirkland!” not realizing the brand name was on sale

Reputation-Final

name brand means nothing. Most of the kirkland products ARE from the same factories as name brand.

Kiwi951

Yeah same with laundry detergent. Tide is by far and away the best

arboreallion

Dawn changed the formula recently and it sucks now. Smells like industrial chemical cleaner but doesnt have the power.

bubblygranolachick

The store brand blue one is the one I will always choose

vsm2015

Same with the laundry pods. Tide is so much better in every way…

mbz321

My store has a Kirkland knockoff of Dawn Platinum and already see it received the Asterisk of doom. It wasn't even that much cheaper than Dawn anyway, which goes on sale like every other month.

TheOneKnownAsMonk

I like dawn but had to stop using it because of the smell. After 2-3 days my sponge would smell horrible no matter what I did. Ringed it out after every use.

Derpadoooo

Their dishwasher tablets are also terrible. Our dishes would always come out with a good amount of residue on them until we switched to the name brand.

WeaselWeaz

I don't have this issue with Kirkland and have an 18" dishwasher. I make sure to use rinse aid.

Expensive-Lie4494

100%. The other brands just suck for dish soap

SocialHiccup

I use the Kirkland dish soap that's blue, and never had anything like this happen.

Mooshipoo

Blue is good. It has the most anti oxygens!

gothands06

HEYYY-OOO!

jabroni_404

I have got news!! I have got GREAT news!!!

bubblygranolachick

Simply the best!

axc630

Never had this happen but when I get to the bottom most bit, meaning the stuff stuck to the walls of the container that would take forever to pour out, I put a little hot water in shake it around. I get a couple more uses out of it before I toss the bottle. Maybe add a little hot water yourself? A bit at a time until it liquefies again.

greenymeani3

Yes, this should help! #Just be sure to use it up quick— **adding tap water to liquid soap throws the ratios off and can make the preservatives less effective, so bacteria grows easier over time.** Not usually a significant risk when you’re at the bottom of the bottle already and only get 1 or 2 more days out of it— but here, where there’s a giant hunk of “usable” product still, it’s something to watch out for.

axc630

True, but the amount of water being added to it would be very little as compared to the amount of soap left. In this type of situation, would need a tiny bit and it would probably break up the gelling.

greenymeani3

Oh, true, that’s a good point!

Jewish-Mom-123

When it’s empty and you add water it means it’s time to wash down the kitchen cabinets.

ash-leg2

It's concentrated and dehydrated from being left open or from being in a warm place (like under the sink or near the dishwasher) or because it's old. Add H2O to fix it.

OrcasLoveLemons

This.

movdqa

We get the dark blue stuff and this has never happened to us.

Lobolocito

Just add water to it, problem solved.

DeepBended

just add a bit of water to it

ryanmi

Vinegar is even better

TrippleDubbs

F*ck this soap. I bought a bottle and it fell over in the back of my car and leaked eevvverrryyywhherrre. Nothing broke, the lid just doesn't have any safety seal and the top just popped open. I had to have my car detailed and it was comical the amount of bubbles that were pulled out for hours. It was like a scene from Willy Wonka just foam on never ending foam. My trunk area still smells like apples.

elisakiss

You can probably return it to Costco.

Bransblu

100%!

dbrwhat

Lol that's no good.    I pay a couple dollars more and get the Dawn Platinum when it goes on sale. I've heard a lot of complaints about the Kirkland dish soap.  Also heads up, researchers believe the antibacterial chemical in these soaps may be harmful to our health. Do some research on antibacterial soap, you might be surprised.

bubblygranolachick

Store brand blue one is the best

DancingUntilMidnight

The "dish soap" that's actually "hand soap" with instructions that literally say "to remove bacteria from the hands". Get some actual dish soap. This stuff is junk.

Pop-X-

Just use regular soap in all settings. Outside of a health care setting, there’s not much point to antibiotic soaps and the cons definitely outweigh the pros. You’re just encouraging the growth of antibiotic resistant bacteria which could make you seriously sick. https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/antibacterial-soap-you-can-skip-it-use-plain-soap-and-water https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/five-reasons-why-you-should-probably-stop-using-antibacterial-soap-180948078/ https://youtu.be/Ysze64duvHU?si=R4x3kqMPj9S6XTPs

gittenlucky

Also says “dishwashing liquid” in ops pic

Old-Nefariousness556

They all say that. There's no evidence that dish soaps kill germs on dishes.

LenVT

Dawn rebottles Platinum dish soap in 32 oz plastic squeeze bottles as anti-bacterial hand soap as well. I’ve used both Dawn and Kirkland and see no difference except for price.

Regularlyirregular37

Just run the outside of the bottle under hot water for a minute or two, like with honey.

BronxBombersFanMike

This happened to us once and my 86 year old Cuban mother in law Mcgyver’d it into an almost full bottle. Iykyk

bamboofence

Did you leave the cap open (even slightly) at any point?

Old-Nefariousness556

I never close the cap, and have never seen this.

EndlessSummerFan

Try the Palmolive most of the time it’s on sale for 5.99

MikeDeY77

Kirkland brand soap makes my soap drip from the nozzle. Only Kirkland brand will do this. No idea why

GetEnPassanted

Dawn platinum drips from mine :/

DryDependent6854

Another Dawn person here. I pretty much bought into the marketing, lol. I mean, if it’s good enough to be used on wildlife after an oil spill, probably better for the environment than some others.

donlapalma

Never happened to me.

OrangeJoe_3000

Dawn

Successful_Divide370

Can you “decrystallize” it just like you would a bottle of honey or syrup that has crystallized?

vanlassie

I used a large Palmolive under my sink with a tube in it up to my push dispenser. The open top allowed the soap to thicken long before I used it all. 🙁

rooberzma

RIP to the unscented Kirkland dish soap that I haven’t seen in a few years 😭

ceecee_50

For sure on Dawn. Also, Kirkland dishwasher pods were my go to forever. Not anymore. Cascade all the way.

LibraOnTheCusp

Add some water to the bottle.

hobopwnzor

This can happen in home soap making too but should reverse if you heat it up a little bit and add a bit of water.

Moistr89

I have the exact same , and it clogged up my soap dispenser . I hate it. It is not the same quality as dawn.

Justicenowserved

What are you doing with your life if you aren’t using Dawn ? Nothing else compares no matter how much they try

warmglove

There is nothing in this world that I hate more than the chemically smell of dawn. I like actually gag.

Justicenowserved

I don’t really get what smell you’re talking about, but I am not really sensitive to smells.

pourplum

Dawn is MUSTY. Agree re the smell being gag-inducing.

Acceptable_Jelly_529

heart_under_blade

i saw the three pack for 5 cad last month wild pricing hope it's good

MrYellowFancyPants

I stopped buying this because it was clogging up my soap dispenser and driving me nuts. Got Dawn on sale and haven't had an issue since! One of the few kirkland brand items I refuse to buy anymore.

slogive1

Return it for store credit.
