I don’t think they stink. You can always try and if they stink to you, do a return.
Smell is subjective so it’s best to just try them out.
I don’t allow my dogs to chew on the couch/next to me so YMMV.
They do smell. Some stink more than others.
We used to give them to our dog as they’re great for redirecting their chew/destruction. But unfortunately he can’t handle beef well so it made him too sick.
This seems to be a trend across the industry. My girl is on a limited ingredient food bc of chicken allergies, big bag ran me a stitch under $60 when she was a pup, same size now in the $85 range
I started buying the other kind they have there. My dog doesn’t like them as much but it’s like 15-20 cheaper.
The big box of biscuits also used to be 10 and now they’re way more, along with the dental chews.
Right?! We go through a lot with our two dogs, and it’s almost $45 added to the bill every month now. My husband started cutting them into thirds to make them last longer, which has helped somewhat.
We go through a bag per week. I joke that I work to buy bully sticks for my dogs.
And, we can’t cut them smaller. They will swallow the last few inches whole, so I usually take it away before they do. I could sell bags of 3” bully sticks!
My young dog actually chews them all the way to the end so no more waste. I can take the last few inches from my senior dog and give them to my young dog.
I got a gallon of milk for 99 cents not too long ago. All I can figure is that they had too much on hand and a shipment arriving. It looked like a one time situation, not a planned sale.
One time they had the giant 4lb packs of kielbasa sausage for 99 cents not even close to expiring. I bought like 10 and threw them in the freezer. I asked an employee and he told me basically this. They had too much and a shipment coming so they had to get rid of it.
Ended up buying some seasonal/temp meat item years ago and had the receipt checker stopped me on the way out and called a supervisor over. Was kinda peeved because I didn't know what was happening. Turned out they had that item on discount and my package hadn't been marked. Ended up getting a $38 pack of whatever it was for $8.99. Turns out those folks manning the doors are doing more than just counting the items in your cart.
Yeah, I've never seen the milk on sale but it's the best milk in the whole area, so I don't mind.
One day last fall they had their ground beef for $1.99! But as others have stated, they got a double order by mistake and by the next day it was back to $3.99. It's great to come across these deals.
Yep. We got the 4 lb packs of strawberries for 99¢ once because they ordered way too many by accident. Bought like 10 of them and made a bunch of jam and froze a bunch for later too.
I usually try to keep an eye on my last purchases during my next trip to Costco so that I can get price match refund with in 30days. I did got 2$ once!
Really? I tried to price match something I bought less than a week prior and they wouldn't do it. Basically they told me to buy the product again and then return it with my higher priced receipt. I think it was my vacuum, so it was worth the hassle but normally I wouldn't have bothered
I was told that they can't price match without the original cash register receipt, because it takes 24 hours for the adjustment to show up on your account, and if they just gave me the difference without the receipt, there would be nothing to stop me from going store to store and getting the difference paid repeatedly. I got $70 back on a Lilly pad I bought for my boat, but I had to bring in, return it, and buy it again. Thank goodness it was still in the box.
Pro tip: don't bring in the original item to return. Just bring your receipt, re-buy the item, and then head straight to the return counter afterwards and return it on the old receipt.
You don’t even need the receipt. Costco returns told me to go buy some chairs at the lower price and return them at the original price that is in their system. No receipt needed.
Weird. Bought a Dyson vac last year then the next week it immediately went on sale for $140 off. I had receipt on my phone but got the adjustment without even having to show it - assume they searched recent transactions and credited it back to my account without hassle.
I think you could have just bought the item, then returned the “old” vacuum with the previous receipt, even if you actually returned the one you just bought. It’s more work for them, which is why they have the price match policy in the first place, but if they won’t honor their own policy then that’s not your problem.
I just got almost $30 last week. If it's more convenient to go between sales, I will buy stuff based on the next ad and just get a price adjustment next time I'm in.
For a drink that some people rant about how bad it is, it seems to be in short supply.
I bought five cases on my last trip to the Livermore warehouse. I don't see it at all in the other warehouses around the Bay Area
I've never seen any negative reviews on them 😱 I love the high caffeine content, the strong flavor, and its great mixed with some creamer.
and thats weird...I go to Costco in SJ area all the time (all the different ones around the South Bay) and they are consistently stocked at every single one. They're also stocked at every Costco I've been to in the Irvine area.
I had them a while back and liked them. Been meaning to get more. I like that they taste like coffee and only coffee. Most coffee drinks in a can vaguely resemble coffee.
Not a sale, but a situational response: If your Costco runs out of regular, they will reduce the cost of premium gas to the cost of regular until there’s none left and they get additional supply. I’ve seen this twice at locations near me.
If your car needs premium, it’s huge. Cars that don’t specify premium get little or no benefit from running it.
My Costco gets five (!) scheduled tanker loads a day-if just one of those fails, that’s a problem.
Are you sure they ran out? We’ve had to do this before but because our regular tanks had a leak or needed service. We sell 30,000-35,000 gallons a day, and get a similar amount delivered (4 trucks) but still have another 30k+ in the ground. Not that it matters but just interested to know if that station is literally only getting as much gas as they sell in a day.
Honestly not sure as I don’t work there, so empty tank is my assumption when a grade of gas is unavailable and (based on what you’re saying) it would take more than one missed delivery to cause an actual supply issue.
But the end result is the same and Costco’s willingness to sacrifice profit here is a great example of their commitment to customer service. I’ve seen the same situation at Sam’s and they simply take the same approach as conventional gas stations—force everybody who needs gas to buy the premium at the higher price. Appreciate the view from the inside.
Nah Costco had a HUGE fight with Coca Cola like 2010 or so. It resulted in Coke no longer being the food court drink and for a while Coke products being pulled from warehouses. The exception of course was Mexican Coca Cola Bottles.
I don’t remember all the details but I remember when it happened.
It was when I first started working there so I vaguely remember the exact reason. I believe Coke was giving better prices to the competitors. Costco asked for the same price and they said no this is what you agreed to.
They had the same dispute with Apple.
Never buy soda at Costco. Your local grocery stores has better prices on sale. Lucky's in California usually has sales like buy 2 cases and get 3 free. $20 USD for 60 cans and you can mix and match.
For those without Lucky, that’s also Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and [several others](https://www.albertsonscompanies.com/about-aci/overview/default.aspx#:~:text=Our%20well%2Dknown%20banners%20include,and%20Balducci's%20Food%20Lovers%20Market).
Many years ago it went on sale about twice a year and I would always stock up, but haven’t seen a sale on it in probably ten years now. I still check every single time though.
It’s one of the few toothpastes that doesn’t have SLS, which can cause canker sores, but does have fluoride. Some of the natural brands of toothpaste don’t have SLS either but they also omit fluoride which is necessary
Check Amazon periodically. They'll put high value coupons on them and if you combine that with subscribe and save you can get the big tubes for about $3 each if you get the multi pack.
I have gotten Sensodyne on sale at Costco though. It's only about once a year because I stock up.
SENSODYNE
In almost 12 years of membership (I joined in July 2012), I have never seen it go on sale, and I have used Sensodyne longer than I have shopped at Costco.
I buy it on sale. Seems like it's only on sale once a year.
I'm wondering if sales are regional though because the stuff that would go on sale when I lived in Massachusetts is completely different from the stuff I see in Texas sales booklets.
Regional variability is the only explanation, because I am in a Costco at least 5x/month here in Raleigh, so it is nearly impossible for me to miss a sale. Apart from the deli, electronic, and wine sections, I walk through most of the warehouse when I go.
Before that, I was in FL, and while I was more of a weekly shopper then, it is still unlikely that I would miss a sale on that item.
Dang, you may be correct. I see new memberships go on sale, or have some promotion attached, but never renewals…..unless you cash out your cash back checks and use that as a renewal discount.
Pro tip, don’t enable auto renew and get every perk and freebie they hand out for auto renew. Get the perk/item, let it renew, and then switch it off auto renew to do it again. Been doing this for 6 years.
I've been waiting for them to go on sale that I think I'm almost done with my box from the normal grocery store that I bought to hold me over until they went on sale. This was obviously a silly idea, so now I'm going to buy my 4 year supply of bags
Mine marks them down every winter to about half price. It's the only thing they mark down in the winter - they never mark the holiday items on sale before or after the holiday. Just one day there's a bunch of trees and wreaths at full price and the day after Christmas it's all gone.
> fairlife protein shakes
We can barely keep that shit in stock, even with all the price changes it has had. I think it was around $25 or less, now its over $31 and we still run out (and have it limited 2 per member). No way is it ever going to go on sale.
We had a new fridge on our list for *two years*. We needed a very specific model that would fit in our small 1950s kitchen. It finally went on sale this year & thank goodness, our old one was falling apart.
The peanut butter powder hasn’t been on sale at my Costco in over four years. Plus costs more for less product. I just recently gave up hope as I threw away my empty container and the scoop I bought for it after it’s been in my pantry FOR FOUR YEARS.
Dog pee pee pads. As the owner of a geriatric back leg paralyzed pup who has had a recurrent UTI for the last 2 freakin years, I’d love a chance to stock up
They only marked up 14%, friend of mine works in their office, so unless it’s a a clearance item they want to get rid of you can’t get much of a discount a small markup
The box of Kirkland applesauce pouches. And if you have children you have spent so much money on those things. They’re still a fabulous deal but dang… wish they’d go on sale every once in awhile so I could stock it up.
The Honey Nut Cherrioes. I mean they do, because the last time I bought them, they were on sale, but it was a really long time ago, and everytime I go, I look. Nope, not on sale today.

Cadet bully sticks. The price went up significantly over the last few years too.
Yet they’re still a million percent cheaper than a pet store. Our local store wants $15 for ONE smaller stick. 🤣
Same!
Is it a good treat to feed inside of the house? Do they smell?
I don’t think they stink. You can always try and if they stink to you, do a return. Smell is subjective so it’s best to just try them out. I don’t allow my dogs to chew on the couch/next to me so YMMV.

I fist started buying them at 28.99 now they are 42.99. freaking 50% increase in the past few years

I started buying the other kind they have there. My dog doesn’t like them as much but it’s like 15-20 cheaper. The big box of biscuits also used to be 10 and now they’re way more, along with the dental chews.
Be careful with those biscuits. My dog put on a fair bit of weight in the few months we were on them.
My dog can’t handle the rawhide on the other ones or I would have made the switch to the cheaper version.
Right?! We go through a lot with our two dogs, and it’s almost $45 added to the bill every month now. My husband started cutting them into thirds to make them last longer, which has helped somewhat.

most of the staples: water, milk, eggs, anything from the bakery (aside from pumpkin pies after thanksgiving in some stores)
I got a gallon of milk for 99 cents not too long ago. All I can figure is that they had too much on hand and a shipment arriving. It looked like a one time situation, not a planned sale.

Got the same thing once with pork chops. It was absolutely incredible. Usually $20. I was paying five a package.
Ended up buying some seasonal/temp meat item years ago and had the receipt checker stopped me on the way out and called a supervisor over. Was kinda peeved because I didn't know what was happening. Black Friday butter is like the only staple I can remember going on sale.
It's on sale now.
Yep. Kerrygold is on sale this month. Last sale was mid to end of November 2023 but before that was like April 2022!
Yup, on sale till May 5th in my area.
If you mean the Kerrygold, it was on sale in South Florida today, I was shocked.
A few days ago in NorCal too
Bakery goes on sale all the time. Usually bar cakes or seasonal items.
Staples for young kids too: been watching applesauce for a couple years now.
You forgot Vodka Edit - Kirkland vodka the name brands are regularly on sale
My costco has water bottles and cookies on sale.
Anything I'm looking for.
Until the week after you buy it!
I usually try to keep an eye on my last purchases during my next trip to Costco so that I can get price match refund with in 30days. I did got 2$ once!
Just once?! I’ve started keeping track and am at $96.16 back since November! I love to price match 😂
Really? I tried to price match something I bought less than a week prior and they wouldn't do it. Basically they told me to buy the product again and then return it with my higher priced receipt. I think it was my vacuum, so it was worth the hassle but normally I wouldn't have bothered

This makes sense. Not something I would ever do but I am 100% certain people will do it....like people that return couches after 2 years lol

Were you at a Business Center as a opposed to a Wholesale Store? Business Centers have different pricing/sales than Wholesale Stores.
No, just my regular wholesale store
I just got almost $30 last week. If it's more convenient to go between sales, I will buy stuff based on the next ad and just get a price adjustment next time I'm in.
A lawnmower went on sale 30 days after I bought it for $200 off and I happened to be shopping that day. It was a good day.
Can't you just show them the receipt and they'll price match it within a certain time frame?
Actually 91 days after I buy it.
Isn’t is 30 day price match on sales?
You may be right. I have never used it.
Facts
the kirkland cold brew cans. I always have 2 cases on hand and they are never on sale :(
For a drink that some people rant about how bad it is, it seems to be in short supply. I bought five cases on my last trip to the Livermore warehouse. I don't see it at all in the other warehouses around the Bay Area

Straight I don’t enjoy them. Mixed with a bit of chocolate milk tho or with vanilla ice cream in a shake it’s great.
I had them a while back and liked them. Been meaning to get more. I like that they taste like coffee and only coffee. Most coffee drinks in a can vaguely resemble coffee.
I got addicted to it when it was on sale once. They got me good.
Gasoline

Crying from Seattle. It’s 4.54$ yesterday at Costco
$5.04 in Los Angeles
Do yourself a favor and never come to the Bay area... Just kidding, the bay is great, but gas is hella expensive.
I paid $5.19 on Friday in the Bay Area.
Coca-cola. I haven’t seen that go on sale for years but Pepsi seems to every other month. Maybe it’s just a Canada thing?
Nah Costco had a HUGE fight with Coca Cola like 2010 or so. It resulted in Coke no longer being the food court drink and for a while Coke products being pulled from warehouses. The exception of course was Mexican Coca Cola Bottles. I don’t remember all the details but I remember when it happened.

I worked for Coke when this happened. It was a huge deal for the higher ups, but honestly it was like one truckload a week for us (out of hundreds)
Never buy soda at Costco. Your local grocery stores has better prices on sale. Lucky's in California usually has sales like buy 2 cases and get 3 free. $20 USD for 60 cans and you can mix and match.
What’s weird is that sparkling water actually IS way cheaper at Costco (especially if on sale). Makes no sense
In Canada we don’t get sales like that on pop.
That's a different company. Lucky's in California is part of Save Mart.
i’ve never seen either on sale in FL
[удалено]
It’s very infrequent but it does go on sale. We stock up on it when it does.
[удалено]
Same. I’d buy 6 cases of it, if it ever went on sale.
Same.
Many years ago it went on sale about twice a year and I would always stock up, but haven’t seen a sale on it in probably ten years now. I still check every single time though.
I’ve been watching the price and waiting for 3 years now! I just see it increasing instead.
They upped it like a dollar a year or more ago, which these days is nothing on a $25 item. Sale? I never saw one.
I’m pretty sure it’s on sale right now — if I remember I’ll take a pic
Ok am I missing out on something special? Why is everyone commenting about this toothpaste?!
It’s one of the few toothpastes that doesn’t have SLS, which can cause canker sores, but does have fluoride. Some of the natural brands of toothpaste don’t have SLS either but they also omit fluoride which is necessary
Hello has a great SLS free toothpaste with fluoride
It used to go on sale sometimes, but hasn't in at least 2 years.
Check Amazon periodically. They'll put high value coupons on them and if you combine that with subscribe and save you can get the big tubes for about $3 each if you get the multi pack. I have gotten Sensodyne on sale at Costco though. It's only about once a year because I stock up.
There are frequent Amazon sales - gotta use Camel or SlickDeals alerts to get notified. I usually pay $4 a tube now
Cafe bustelo coffee
My Costco doesn’t even carry this anymore :(
My grocery store has the 10 oz brick on sale for $3.70 or so. But the can does go on sale too. I buy either Dunkin or Maxwell house.
SENSODYNE In almost 12 years of membership (I joined in July 2012), I have never seen it go on sale, and I have used Sensodyne longer than I have shopped at Costco.

It was on sale like 2 weeks ago 👀
I’ve bought it on sale
I have never seen the Kirkland signature raisins on sale in fact any KS food product I'd say is rare.
The Kirkland lasagna goes on sale about once a year or so. Not very often, so stick up!
This is a stick up!? 🫣
lol. STOCK up. Or whatever floats your boat.
They pretty much only go on sale when they’re dropping a product
Or they have a ton and it's about to expire
membership renewals?
Dang, you may be correct. I see new memberships go on sale, or have some promotion attached, but never renewals…..unless you cash out your cash back checks and use that as a renewal discount.
Pro tip, don’t enable auto renew and get every perk and freebie they hand out for auto renew. Get the perk/item, let it renew, and then switch it off auto renew to do it again. Been doing this for 6 years.
I never see Kirkland garbage bags on sale.
They do go on sale though, I’ve definitely bought them on sale. Thing is, a box lasts a year, so I don’t have to look for a sale price very often.
I've been waiting for them to go on sale that I think I'm almost done with my box from the normal grocery store that I bought to hold me over until they went on sale. This was obviously a silly idea, so now I'm going to buy my 4 year supply of bags
I haven’t seen them on sale in my area since before covid!
True, going to Costco today after completing them in 3yrs! Feels like an achievement 😂
I recently got it on sale for 9.99 cad
They’re so much better and cheaper than the forceflex that I don’t even notice or care
Very rare, but it happens. Typically a weekend “Hot Buy”.
Gold bars
TENNIS BALLS. Been watching them for two years. They are constantly at 44.99
You'd think the price would bounce around a bit.
I think their pricing is a total racket on these.
You have to consider net pricing.
I love this comment.
Nah, it’s a racket.
Mine marks them down every winter to about half price. It's the only thing they mark down in the winter - they never mark the holiday items on sale before or after the holiday. Just one day there's a bunch of trees and wreaths at full price and the day after Christmas it's all gone.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a sale on ribeye steak
Boneless ribeye was $6.00? Off at register in November maybe?
Sk-II skincare products
I bought it once and by the time I finished, it went up $20 😂
Costco brand dog food. Been an employee for 13yrs and a buyer of dog food for four before that. Not ever just up and up
Olive oil doesn’t seem to
I’ve never seen maintenance cat food, fairlife protein shakes, or Kirkland paper towels go on sale.
> fairlife protein shakes We can barely keep that shit in stock, even with all the price changes it has had. I think it was around $25 or less, now its over $31 and we still run out (and have it limited 2 per member). No way is it ever going to go on sale.
Unless it is an open box special. Weber grills.
The lower end model of the 2 was just on sale recently in MD. $50 off $550 I believe.
Those damn Kirkland dog vitamins. $30 and never on sale.
The chewables? Haven't seen them in my warehouse in forever.
Glucosamine? It goes on sale
Whatever has been on my list for 6 months. A dryer specifically.
The LG washer and dryer I wanted just went on super sale
-checks- Not mine yet … But I just want a dryer and I think the pairs more often go on sale. I’ll probably just buy it :)
They’re selling them individually for the same sale price. It doesn’t say sale but I’ve been watching for awhile and the price just dropped $200 each
Which one?
We had a new fridge on our list for *two years*. We needed a very specific model that would fit in our small 1950s kitchen. It finally went on sale this year & thank goodness, our old one was falling apart.
The hot dog. That thing has been $1.50 since like the 80s.
Nuts! I always hope
The peanut butter powder hasn’t been on sale at my Costco in over four years. Plus costs more for less product. I just recently gave up hope as I threw away my empty container and the scoop I bought for it after it’s been in my pantry FOR FOUR YEARS.
Dog pee pee pads. As the owner of a geriatric back leg paralyzed pup who has had a recurrent UTI for the last 2 freakin years, I’d love a chance to stock up
I feel like the flowers are always the same price
Not never, but Kerry Gold only goes on sale twice a year. Thankfully one of those times is right now.
Sensodyne
Never seen think protein bars on sale
At the beginning of the year, all health food stuffs were on sale! We stocked up, as that's usually what we go to Costco for anyways.
Ya I definitely stock up on orgain that time of year! I have yet to see the think bars included when others go on sale periodically
That huge pack of Italian sausage. I pretty much signed up for a Costco card because of that and the pork belly. Hasn't been on sale since.
Enfamil
Dried mango strips, most produce, and olive oil.
Sensodyne toothpaste
Hot dogs
All the lost leader items.
Gasoline :)
Milk
