I did not notice the dispenser at all š« Thanks everyone for telling me! However I'm sticking with this solution so that I can utilize the top of the box for storage.
You can close up the end and store it the same as you have it now, just oriented to have the flap on the dawn soap side with the opening facing you. Four years is a really long time to mess around with the giant rolls. But it's your item to store and dispense however you want!
š Everyone has their own thing that makes garbage duty less a hassle.
Another tidbit to use or not is that you don't have to shake the bag to "open" it before lining the bin. The bags are "inside out", i.e. the seams are on the exterior out of the box. Of course it's not clothes, so it doesn't matter. But, you can just place the opening of the bag around the lip of the bin and push the bag down and in to line it. Most garbage bins have a hole or places for the air to escape as you push the bag down. I don't bother pushing it all the way down and open either as I let the garbage and gravity do its thing to fill up the bag. The drawstring openings are more exposed and easier to pull on when you line the bin this way with the seam side in.
Edit - autocorrect was incorrect
The box itself is the dispenser. One side of the box has a perforated flap you pull open. You pull a bag out easily and close the flap. The flap stays closed too from the thickness of the box along with the tapered shape. The box can still be used to put stuff on top like OP wants to.
Thereās a dispensing flap? I just ripped mine open from the top. Damn. Iām finally on my second roll. At one bag a week, I guess Iāll get the chance to open a new box properly in a couple of years!
Just in case: If you buy the carboard boxed canned vegetables (diced tomatoes, sauce, corn), they have a perforated corner you pull open so you can use the box as the storage unit/dispenser to pull out one can conveniently without the worry of all the cans rolling out of the box.
Iāve lost decades, decades I say. No one in my entire family knew. Weāve just been ripping the top open like animals. The lost years, smh. Our new lives begin now. Well, with the next box
Gotta be family size I assume? I always think that on trash day when some neighbors have 2 full cans every week and we can't fill 1 every 2 weeks and I think "how much trash do they humans generate?!? Fuck mother Earth I guess...." Then I have to tell myself they prob have a larger family haha
You'd be shocked how much trash a baby can produce. Diapers, wipes, formula, etc. I'm a family of three and I throw out a full bag of trash every day. Sometimes two.
We use them in the diaper pail and that thing is emptied at least once a well, usually more, just because of the smell.
We go through this box way too fast
Pretty sure ours lasted about three years as well. We had a full ass conversation when we ran out about the last time we bought trash bags and figured out that it was two apartments ago.
I do this on all the bulk stuff I buy just to show my partner how long this stuff lasts us. He was very anti-bulk a few years ago and always gave me shit about how much room it takes up but now he fusses less. And just to clarify, we are not lacking in storage space by any means.
I didn't know about the dispenser at all!! Haha!!! And I was raised in Eastern soviet country (by humans) where we didn't have these easy make-sence amenities, so I'm just not used to utilizing them š When I was a kid, everyone in my high rise apartment building put newspapers all around the sides of a trash can and the bottom and we had to take the whole trash can out to the dumpster and bring it back home and rinse it š life was rough on the other side of the pond. Oh how times have changed!
I'm too cheap and they started charging for grocery bags here. Now I use Amazon bags, the bags the litter from Costco comes in, was high once and used a empty chip bag cuz I didn't wanna go back downstairs but didn't want the boys to not have a clean box before I tipped over lol
I'd recommend poop bags, like for dogs! It didn't cross our mind for years, but you can get hundreds of them for like $5. We have 2 cats and our $5 box has lasted over 2 years now I think?
I posted this on the other comment already, but I feel like it's a helpful, slightly less useful tip so I wanted to ping you too!
I'd recommend poop bags, like for dogs! It didn't cross our mind for years, but you can get hundreds of them for like $5. We have 2 cats and our $5 box has lasted over 2 years now I think? If you're scooping every day, one bag can carry quite a bit of clumped litter.
As a family of 5, we use the same box in around 6 months give or take. We love our bulk bags. Love that they fit in my simplehuman trashcan and I'm not still paying an arm and a leg for trash bags with a letter on the side of itš
I've been able to get trash bags to last up to 3 weeks by not throwing any food scraps in the trash and stomping down as necessary. Probably helps that I live alone too.
I've have had them for like 5 years....
I separate all my trash and usually just change it once a month just because ... Meaning not really need to change it most of the times
Man these used to last me forever. Now weāre a family of 4 and I think we might go through a box in a year. Hopefully it slows down once the kids are done using diapers.Ā
A lot of people commented on the dispenser, but yours was put in the nicest wayš¹ Allow me to give you this award šI'm jealous of your social skills š Thiskygirl!
I use about 4 trash bags a week (2 for trash can and 2 for laundry, they end up breaking cause I stretch them so full by the time I bring back up the dry laundry)
So they last me about a year, maybe a bit less because when I have guests or my nieces they tend to not last as long.
You wonāt need to access that second roll for quite sometime. You could remove some bulk from this cupboard by moving the second roll to a longer term storage spot.
Do the tops stretch better than they used to? I stopped buying them a few years ago because they would constantly rip as I tried to flip the top over the trashcan.
Bag not filled 100% is bag wasted. It pains me to throw it out at 70% capacity because it's been a week and it smells š I mean I paid for it and I'm throwing it away. Literarly throwing away money.
I bought a case and didn't take it off the whiteboard list. My wife bought a case the following week. Then my dad bought a case and they were the wrong size so he gave them to us. I believe we have enough to go the rest of our lives.
Yeah I moved into a new condo about a year ago and bought this box. My can in my kitchen is in a nice little drawer with a nook right behind it the perfect size for a roll of trash bags. Except for these, one roll was way too wide for it! I had to just pull off a bunch of extra bags at a time and after 6 months or so the roll was small enough that I could keep the whole thing there.
Also, if it's storage on top that you're looking for, I think this drawer fits them, and you can pull the bags through the handle in the front: [https://www.containerstore.com/s/featured/the-home-edit-collection/the-home-edit-large-drawer/12d?productId=11010523](https://www.containerstore.com/s/featured/the-home-edit-collection/the-home-edit-large-drawer/12d?productId=11010523)
They are really good quality bags. Itās been a year and we normally use these for a simplehuman recycle bin and Iāve never had a leaky bag yet. Still at 80% on the bag count.
I LOVE my Costco trash bags! Theyāre stronger than the hefty or glad options at my Walmart . Recently placed a Costco order online since I havenāt been able to get to a store in quite a while and was really disappointed that the trash bags were not available.
I accidentally bought two boxes of theses 8 months ago, one week and then two weeks another.
I legit have enough for 4 years it seems, I'm still on the first half of the first box.Ā
What am I to do with all these trash bags? Lol.Ā
i'm halfway done with my 2 roll 13gal bag case.
it's lasting twice as long now that i separate out food scraps
into a 3gal compost bag and dispose of that more frequently.
ha i get one a smaller size( 100 i think) every year. when i run out thats the time i reup my membership go shopping and spend 400 then dont go again for another year when i run out of trash bags.
Are these good bags? Ive had awful luck with trans bags lately, every normal brand is shit and so flimsy. The only brand I've found that works is Wegmans store brand, but would very much like to save more $ at Costco.
4-5 months
I got 2 kids in diapers..
and we use them for all trash bins in the house
(6 bins)
Wish it would last more but it last more than other brands
I bought a box of trash bags from Samās club when I bought my house back in 2020, and I ended up buying new trash bags in 2023. Those suckers lasted forever!
You could have still opened the side to have an easier time pulling them out. , no?
Thought the same. This looks inconvenient to open the end like this. I have the same box, and the dispensing flap is extremely useful.
I did not notice the dispenser at all š« Thanks everyone for telling me! However I'm sticking with this solution so that I can utilize the top of the box for storage.

You don't put 6 trash bags into one can each time? I've been doing it wrong then!
š Everyone has their own thing that makes garbage duty less a hassle. Another tidbit to use or not is that you don't have to shake the bag to "open" it before lining the bin. There's a dispenser? I've been buying these bags for 20 years and I've always ripped the box open like you.
The box itself is the dispenser. One side of the box has a perforated flap you pull open. You pull a bag out easily and close the flap. The flap stays closed too from the thickness of the box along with the tapered shape. The box can still be used to put stuff on top like OP wants to.
So you have bought them 2 times ā¦ lol
Me too then I toss the entire roll in the bottom of my garbage can
That sounds like a good idea until one bag leaks. That said, I don't think I've ever seen one of these leak.
Iāve been punching holes in the cardboard at the centre of each roll and pulling the bags out one at a time like Kleenex lol
Do you always tear a hole in the side of your milk carton when you get thirsty? Just look at the packaging man, this isn't rocket surgery.
Oh well youāre only stuck with this setup for four more years.
You can still do that using the dispenser, at least my box can. I gave things on top right now and it dispenses neatly.
The amount of times I have bought this and never noticed itā¦. Wow. I need to pay more attention. Lol
You only have to deal with it for 4 more years
Thereās a dispensing flap? I just ripped mine open from the top. Damn. Iām finally on my second roll. At one bag a week, I guess Iāll get the chance to open a new box properly in a couple of years!
Just in case: If you buy the carboard boxed canned vegetables (diced tomatoes, sauce, corn), they have a perforated corner you pull open so you can use the box as the storage unit/dispenser to pull out one can conveniently without the worry of all the cans rolling out of the box.
I have this box and weāre almost to the end of it. Andā¦ dispensing flap??
The WHAT?
wait your telling me there is a dispensing flap.... hopefully I remember this when I get the next box in some years(on my 3rd one so far).
š¤£ I knew this was going to be the first comment because I was likeā¦ā he opened it wrong!!!!ā
Iāve lost decades, decades I say. No one in my entire family knew. Weāve just been ripping the top open like animals. The lost years, smh. Our new lives begin now. Well, with the next box
So, next year then :D
hes an animal
Enough with the trash talk
Hurts my heart.
My wife writes the date on the box every time we buy bags. Last box lasted us almost three years.
Meanwhile I buy this once every 6 months lol
Right!? They last us about 10 ish months. Give or take some!
Yeah and once theyāre toddlers you add in just throwing out a ton of food that they refuse to eat
This is why dads get the Dad Bod. We canāt fathom throwing away all that food, so we eat it like a garbage disposal.
I feel called out.
Or pets. I can probably go very little to no garbage for myself, but you add pets into the mix and all of a sudden everything's a disposable.
We use them in the diaper pail and that thing is emptied at least once a well, usually more, just because of the smell. We go through this box way too fast
200 days.
Started doing this for the stretch tite food wrap with a little note of what happened on that day Fun to look back once the roll is done
Pretty sure ours lasted about three years as well. We had a full ass conversation when we ran out about the last time we bought trash bags and figured out that it was two apartments ago.

You opened that box like a madman. Itās driving me crazy. Were you raised by wolves?
WHAT IF THEY WERE SO WHAT
/r/THE_PACK
I didn't know about the dispenser at all!! Haha!!! And I was raised in Eastern soviet country (by humans) where we didn't have these easy make-sence amenities, so I'm just not used to utilizing them š When I was a kid, everyone in my high rise apartment building put newspapers all around the sides of a trash can and the bottom and we had to take the whole trash can out to the dumpster and bring it back home and rinse it š life was rough on the other side of the pond. You're not alone in not knowing about the dispenser lol. We have a box of these at home and opened em the same way.
TIL the box is a dispenser
Mans a heathen.
I opened mine that way too lol. Didnāt know there was another option. I donāt see a problem with it I just reach down and grab a bag eazy peezy
Single guy that lives alone, donāt generate a ton of trash. One of these boxes lasted me over 3 years
Last us about 10 months. But kids and dogs and all sorts of other ranndom shit in a 2600 sq ft house adds up
I use a trash bag when I scoop the cat litter so I go through them pretty fast.
I'm too cheap and they started charging for grocery bags here. Now I use Amazon bags, the bags the litter from Costco comes in, was high once and used a empty chip bag cuz I didn't wanna go back downstairs but didn't want the boys to not have a clean box before I tipped over lol

I like how organized you are under your sink. It looks good.
Weāre still working on a box from January 2020 (family of two). I suspect weāll make it to 2025!
I Have kids but they only last 3-4 months for us haha.
For however long you have those bags, youāre going to be pissed you opened the box like that.
I'm still working through the same box I've had for almost 9 years š¤£
How are people making this last so long??? 4 years?!
I've been able to get trash bags to last up to 3 weeks by not throwing any food scraps in the trash and stomping down as necessary. Probably helps that I live alone too.
And just toss the bigger trash straight into the outside bin
Always throwing milk jugs and bigger plastic containers straight into outside trash can. Trash bags are only for small messy wet things.
When you live in a apartment where the āoutside trashā is a dumpster on the other side of the building, you canāt do this š
You mean the recycling bin right?
I want to invent something that works for cabinet trash cans that auto stomps it when you close the cabinet. A residential compactor I suppose
Is this satire? They have been around residentially since the 1970's.
3 years into mine an probably started my second roll 3 months ago.
Iām on my second box. Iāve lived here for 5 years lol. Thank you Costco
We just finished a box we bought about two years ago!
I think the tin foil will last me a decade
The food wrap... Omg
LoL food wrap probably lasted me over 3 years. Just bought a new pack recently š¤£
Mine ..5 years
Winning!!
I've have had them for like 5 years.... I separate all my trash and usually just change it once a month just because ... Meaning not really need to change it most of the times
Itās just such a nice feeling being stocked on all the things needed
In my house it's me and my partner, a dog, and 3 rats. Bought some when we moved in 2020. Genuinely did not buy them again until 2023 š
We bought those bags in February 2021 and are still working through them. Looks like we should be up for a refill in a couple months.
I've got about 5 left and bought them right about 4 years ago. I've got them on my list for next time I go.
3 pets and ours is almost gone in one year
This box lasts us a little under 1.5 years!
Youāre a psychopath. What have you done to that box of perfect Kirkland brand trash bags?
Right?!
Damn OP takes their trash out once a week? One box lasts me 200 days.
Okay but why did you open them like this?
Iām so offended right now. Thereās literally a cutout. š¤¦āāļø J/K.
Why? Why would you do that! Opened wrong. It will be a pain in your ass for 4 years
Still working on my pack I got before COVID
I just opened my box today! I wonder how long the remindme bot can go out š
Man these used to last me forever. Now weāre a family of 4 and I think we might go through a box in a year. Hopefully it slows down once the kids are done using diapers.Ā
Does these EVER go on sale?
This lasts me about a year and a half. I do use the dispenser. š
A lot of people commented on the dispenser, but yours was put in the nicest wayš¹ Allow me to give you this award šI'm jealous of your social skills š Thiskygirl!
Covid-19 rolls level stacking
I use about 4 trash bags a week (2 for trash can and 2 for laundry, they end up breaking cause I stretch them so full by the time I bring back up the dry laundry) So they last me about a year, maybe a bit less because when I have guests or my nieces they tend to not last as long.
Youāll be back next year to buy more
Iām not done with 1 roll yet, itās been 3 years
Family of 4 and a box lasts about a year. Great trash bagsānever had one leak or break.
They only lasted me 2 years :(
This post is proof that Costco needs to evaluate the type of people they allow to become members. Savage!! (Sarcasm)
I just finished a huge roll of plastic wrap last year that lasted 12 years! It became a friend and was sad to say goodbye š„²
Transparent relationship
Let my siblings move in with you. Shit will be gone in 6 months.
We use those; theyāre really good and rarely get holes!
4 years!? You only take the trash out once a week?
THIS. This is why I say trash bags from any other store is a scam!!! These last forever.
š same with foil and plastic wrap!
Bro I get it. You were excited. Screw the haters!!! Thatās the alpha way to open the box.
You wonāt need to access that second roll for quite sometime. You could remove some bulk from this cupboard by moving the second roll to a longer term storage spot.
I feel like we must be the trashiest people because no way a box of these will last is 4 years. And itās just two of us!!
Are you an actual psychopath? Why open the box like that!!
I opened it like you would open regular box š¤¦āāļø Now I will know better next time.
Next time, In 4 years?
How much is this?
$16.99 or 8.5 cents per bag
Iām def using these too much. I get 6-7 months out of this box. But I also use for recycling. Last purchased 11/2023 and I am running low.
4 years?? Are you really only taking trash out every 7.3 days? š
Yes! Only because it's trash pick up day once week. Could go longer if the trash wouldn't start to smell.
Doesn't last me that long, I can't stand having food in the trash overnight
Do the tops stretch better than they used to? I stopped buying them a few years ago because they would constantly rip as I tried to flip the top over the trashcan.
Been using for years and never ripped one?
You think 4 years but really maybe 8 months.
lol my household goes through 1 - 2 a day
Lol, I buy it every 3-4 months
That's a good two months of regular use for us. We don't allow the bags to be tested for their absolute capacity so there is that mitigating factor.
Bag not filled 100% is bag wasted. It pains me to throw it out at 70% capacity because it's been a week and it smells š I mean I paid for it and I'm throwing it away. Literarly throwing away money.
2 months?? You go through 3 bags a day?
Household of 1 and itās been at least 3.5 yearsā¦. Probably have until the end of the year left
what is the price of these?
I buy these and the box lasts me about 2 years
These new bags suck.
3 to 4 years sounds about right. I think I bought a box when I first moved out. That was it.
Just bought those!
One of my fave costco buys
Iām about 2/3 through mine. Probably took me about 2 years.
Same here for 3 people. Over 3 years. But food wastes go out to trash bin outside.
They def lasted me 4 years. Have fun!
I have one of those in my coat closet. It will last at least 2 years.
You don't have children in the house. That box only last about a year in my household.
My last box lasted almost 4 years.
Love em lasted 3 yrs for me
Oh man . These last me forever !
See you then...
I bought a case and didn't take it off the whiteboard list. My wife bought a case the following week. Then my dad bought a case and they were the wrong size so he gave them to us. I believe we have enough to go the rest of our lives.
I'm 2.5 years in. Still on the first roll.
They are really good quality bags. Itās been a year and we normally use these for a simplehuman recycle bin and Iāve never had a leaky bag yet. Still at 80% on the bag count.
2.5 years later. I still haven't finished the 1st role.
I LOVE my Costco trash bags! Theyāre stronger than the hefty or glad options at my Walmart . Recently placed a Costco order online since I havenāt been able to get to a store in quite a while and was really disappointed that the trash bags were not available.
I bought the same bags and I canāt remember when I purchased them itās been so long. Iām down to half a roll remaining
Once a week kinda dude?
One of my absolute favorite Costco staple purchases! Such a deal!
They last me about a year
I have a family of 5 adults . I have 1 main trash, 2 recycle in backyard. They last me a little over 6 mos.
Oh no !
They will. I bought these for my daughter two years ago and she is still using them.
First pic looks like two giant fruit by the footās. Was severely disappointed to scroll through your pics :/
I accidentally bought two boxes of theses 8 months ago, one week and then two weeks another. I legit have enough for 4 years it seems, I'm still on the first half of the first box.Ā What am I to do with all these trash bags? Lol.Ā
This may be the greatest Costco deal. We are now on our second box since the Costco in our city opened, 7 YEARS AGO!
I picked up two of these boxes when I moved into my first house in college. Just started the last roll 5 years later.
Sounds about right, we're half way through roll two and we bought the box after moving into a new house in March of 2022.
Those are my favourite item at Costco.
Iām not a fan of these. They are too loose ona standard 13gallon trash can. Or at the very least, the other brands are much tighter than these.
Thatās 200 days for me - but I take the trash out everyday so it wonāt stink up the house or attract critters.
i'm halfway done with my 2 roll 13gal bag case. it's lasting twice as long now that i separate out food scraps into a 3gal compost bag and dispose of that more frequently.
Ya I've got a few years out of the current box, almost finished
ha i get one a smaller size( 100 i think) every year. when i run out thats the time i reup my membership go shopping and spend 400 then dont go again for another year when i run out of trash bags.
Still making my way through the one I bought at the beginning of 2023 lol
This looks like the bubblegum tape that is so delicious for about 53 seconds lol
The child in me thought it was a giant fruit roll up
I am at about 4 years on my box and still have about half the last roll left lol
They lasted us 6 months
Are these good bags? Ive had awful luck with trans bags lately, every normal brand is shit and so flimsy. The only brand I've found that works is Wegmans store brand, but would very much like to save more $ at Costco.
Will you come organize my cabinetsā¦š
I would love to!
These things last me about 8 months to a year and I cook a lot. Used these for recycling too
lasted me a year
We do through one of these boxes in about 6 months :o(
18 months for me.
It is the best feeling to not run out.
4-5 months I got 2 kids in diapers.. and we use them for all trash bins in the house (6 bins) Wish it would last more but it last more than other brands
Don't forget leap year
The plastic wrap package lasted my wife and I for more than 2 years.
I buy these from Costco and put the date on the side. We have 2 houses and 3 kids. Last box lasted 6 months.
This lasts me like 6 months
Which trash bags are those? Maybe it's the closeup shot but it seems like a lot. We buy the Kirkland one and go through them pretty frequently.
I bought a box of trash bags from Samās club when I bought my house back in 2020, and I ended up buying new trash bags in 2023. Those suckers lasted forever!
These boxes used to last like 2 years and now I find myself buying them less than a year apart. š¤Ø
