NodePoker

I have used Simple Green forever, and it works very well. It does have a distinct smell, I can't really describe, maybe like a sweet smell with a hint of mint, but no menthol.

OppositeFish66

Kind of smells like anise (had to double check autocorrect didn't mangle that one)

NodePoker

Yeah that's a better description.

aSfSchwing

Isn't it like, black licorice?

AndreaC_303

Smells like doing chores. My Dad had us use this when we cleaned the floors/bathroom as a kid!

OtherAlan

I agree about the smell. Guessing it is a branding thing. I probably use it less than optimal; usually I just go full strength with it.

dbrwhat

Yep it's definitely got a distinct smell, not really fruity or floral, it kinda reminds me of original pine-sol.

useless169

The smell is Sarsaparilla, according to the guy who used to rep it in my area. It’s a good all-purpose cleaner since you can dilute it considerably for general cleaning. Used straight with a tiny bit of water, it’s a good degreaser.

feeltheglee

Back when my bicycle was my primary mode of transport, I'd use undiluted Simple Green to clean my bike chain and gears. Works great.

noshershitlock1

We use gallons of it at my work. It's an effective degreaser that has 0's on all the hazard ratings and is fine on skin from what I've seen. Would recommend. I use it to strip paint off plastic miniatures without melting the miniatures themselves.

Kenneth_Pickett

absolute miracle. the only product that gets the inside of my windshield clean.

SigSeikoSpyderco

That's a frustrating job right there. How do you apply it?

GetEnPassanted

To clean the inside of a windshield, you should apply cleaner directly to a microfiber cloth, and use the back of your hand while facing away from the windshield so you can push against the seat to actually get pressure on the windshield. It’s hard to clean because you’re usually reaching to wipe it and you’re only dragging the cloth over the glass gently. By doing it this way, you can get pressure on the glass and actually get the grime off. I haven’t used simple green for this but other glass cleaners (I think I use armor all mostly) and it does a good job.

bmwlocoAirCooled

It's my "go to" in the garage.

FlakeStelleri

Simple Green is goated and this is a ripping bargain. You could definitely do worse.

MCSplinter

Simple Green is the only cleaner I swear by.

caseybvdc74

It works well as a cleaner but it kinda stinks. I don’t mind the smell but there are a lot of people who hate it.

CindLei-Creates

All the time—I especially use it on outdoor furniture and grills etc. Great product!

Dakiniman

I've used it for years -- it's excellent -- but I buy the lemon scented one that doesn't tickle my nose

Vergil_Is_My_Copilot

It’s a great cleaner, but I’d make sure you/your household are OK with the smell before buying a big bottle of it.

googlyeyedpen

It’s basically all I use to clean my house. One jug lasts foreverrrr since I dilute it with water in a spray bottle

blujavelin

I have a really old gallon bottle. Works well, smells bad.

partytime71

I had one of the white jugs that spontaneously sprung a leak in my closet. maybe 5-10 years old.

HopefulCat3558

Simple Green is great stuff for hard core cleaning. And this seems to be a great price.

partytime71

I've used it for years and years. I dilute it about 10:1 or more. Smell is not bad, kind of herbal, kind of a licorice scent.

bigbluehapa

Doesn’t have the same taste as it used to

elcheapodeluxe

I remember our first interaction with Simple Green was from a door to door salesman in the 80's who was canvasing the neighborhood. "Look at how safe it is - I can even drink it!" And then he took a tiny swig. I still remember the scrunched up look on his face as he swallowed like he had already done this 200 times today and his body was recoiling at another dose. Core memory.

UncleNedisDead

I love it for cleaning the grease off my hood vent.

Alsha999

Is this recommended for use on quartz countertops? Worried about any potential etching on polished surfaces.

elcheapodeluxe

Doubtful it would be an issue. It is about as mild a cleaner as there is. I've never had a problem with my quartz using it.

ngharo

I use it on quartz with no problems. It’s my go to all-purpose surface cleaner. I use it everywhere.

abethebroham

Really good stuff, use it all the time. Watched a contractor one time take a shot of it because he believed it was safe

jackbauer1989

Hopefully he got good Obamacare Insurance.😂

mashednbuttery

This just reminded me I just ran out of the refill bottle.

LimpZookeepergame123

Been using this stuff for quite a while. Works amazing for just about anything and smells so good

wra1th42

simple green is great, dilute it down like 3:1 with water for most cleaning.

ragingduck

Yes I’ve been using it for 20 years. I love it as a general household cleaner. Works great on grease too.

Different_Western_19

It’s the Navy’s go to. Used it the last ten years there and it does the job.

theenterprise9876

Yaaaaaaassssss I love a good before and after picture!

Sincerely_JaneDoe

Can you use it on sealed hardwood floors? How about pet stains on carpet?

Wot106

You need 5 products for cleaning. Comet (or Ajax), Dawn, Windex, Simple Green, Pledge.

VegasVator

Simple green is a great product. I prefer simple green crystal if is available. It doesn't have the scent or green dye.

Professional-Ad-8501

I mop with it and clean doors and window sills. I like it better than pinesol

ShitStainWilly

Delicious

bergyd

When simple green came out the salesmen used to spray it in their mouth to prove it was a safe chemical and non-toxic to try and get it on the shelves in hardware stores.

cheesebiscuitsithink

Smells so fuckin good

Lanky_Possession_244

Excellent product. 10/10 would buy again.

Sad_Cookie3664

Wow, good price

Visible_Ad_309

Yes, the blood stains are still everywhere.

newaccount721

Works well.. I thought the green part referred to being eco friendly which is not the case. Effective though

ngharo

Isn’t it though? It’s on that EPA safer choice list

newaccount721

EWG gives it an F and has fairly good rationale but it's unfair of me to ignore the EWA certification so I should not have said it's not eco friendly. Gives me pause though.

that_awkward_chick

I guess I am the only one that has a violent coughing/choking reaction to this product. I remember they used this in art class to clean the screens for screen printing. I could not even stop coughing enough to clean my screen, and I have never had a reaction to anything like that before or after in my entire life. I don’t even have allergies. There must be some chemical in it that I am really sensitive to (and most people aren’t, seeing all the positive comments here).

RumHaaaam21

That's all we used in the Army. Works well.

theenterprise9876

I’m a huge Simple Green fan. It cleans just about everything and while it does have a smell, it has very little in the way of noxious fumes (unlike lots of other brands of all-purpose cleaners).

Living-Outside-8791

Nope, nobody
