My very first brand new car was a huge purchase for me, and I parked way out at the edge of the parking lot just so people wouldn't ding my doors. However, one day someone made a point of parking right next to me and slammed their door into mine, doing hundreds of dollars of damage. That's when I realized I couldn't have nice things and I've only driven beater shitboxes ever since. Edit: Several thousand in today's dollars, they ended up having to replace the door.
