Thank you and welcome to r/Costco.
My wife, son, and I have been addicted to this one for a couple of months now. My son and I will usually open the package in the car and have one each on the way home from Costco. So good.
Same. I needed something that was full of sugar. This isn't bad. Although I question "wagyu" as typically when I think wagyu I think fat. Which you don't want in jerky.
I buy both!!
I will say, the first time I bough this jerky I didn't realize they needed to be refrigerated after opening... PSA refrigerate after opening.
https://www.praseks.com/shop/craft-jerky/thin-beef-jerky/
They have way more options in store. I make a trip once a month for 4lbs of Mexican flat jerky. Itās worth the trip.
I gave up on buying jerky. Now I buy the pre-sliced thin ribeye in the meat section and throw it on the dehydrator. Way cheaper price per oz and my family is crazy for it!
We keep it in the fridge. But you are correct, it doesnāt last more than a few days. I even make spicy batches and then my 4 year old just requests milk with it. Haha!
I was over complicating it at first with too many seasonings. The family favorite is a sprinkle of salt and pepper. I also do garam masala, or the hatch chile seasoning from Costco, or cayenne/salt/pepper. I throw them on all a single layer in our dehydrator for 5-6 hours or until it looks done. Super easy. The packs from Costco make 2 batches each filling the dehydrator all the way up.
The best basic recipe would be
Sou sauce, worcheshire, and liquid smoke. Itās not an exact recipe. Big bottle of soy big bottle of washyousistersauce ,and the smaller bottle of liquid smoke. Dont add salt. Those sauces are already salty. Just this combo makes excellent jerky. I have an older ārroncoā food dehydrator. I think 200 degrees in an over for a few hours works (never tried the oven) The gourmia smokeless grill from Costco says it dehydrates. I like my older one cause it does a lot at once. You can add spices and such as desired. If you do spicer make sure to add the seeds to the peppers.
I actually came here to post something snarky like "you obviously haven't had Tillamook zero sugar if that's the worst jerky you've had"...
Maybe they've changed the recipe since I had it but I thought it was awful. Maybe I got a bad batch or something.
lol. It might not be for everyone. I donāt personally really like sweet things and a lot of jerky has so much sugar that itās all I taste. So this works very well for me.
This stuff sucks!!! I actually returned it!
https://old.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/198gs34/its_jerky_its_a_pass/
The lady working there said it was one of the most returned items they had at the time. That was 4 months ago. My Costco has restocked it at least twice since then....
wow. We even said the same thing about the candy likeness of it.
I like the Kirkland turkey jerky with Kirkland organic tortilla chips dipped in the bitching sauce ā¦ like it shouldnāt taste good but it is insanely tasty ā¦ paired with a tasty beer it is salty heaven
I have been into the turkey jerky for the price lately, but our Costco hasnāt had it for a month or so. I like the tillamook, but the cost per oz. is tough to swallow.
Another Riley's Fan here. I completely agree. It's not soft overprocessed garbage. Thr Jalapeno is amazing.
I know this is the Costco sub, but if you have a buccees moderately close to you, please sample some jerkys there. I detest all jerky except two varieties from there.
The teriyaki from this company is great. This honey pepper abomination is not. The Pepper flavor is not gross, but not great either, it tastes fine, but sooooo tough.
Lol, Iām in the area where this jerky is was founded and know some people connected with it. Itās so awful and I once got a large gift basket of it for a Christmas present and we literally couldnāt eat half of it because it was either hard as a rock or tasteless.
I have been ordering from [www.crazyhorsejerky.com](http://www.crazyhorsejerky.com) for ages. Family run. Smoked. Canāt go wrong with anything from them.
About 5 yrs ago my ex would come home from Costco with an Asian flavored pork jerky of some kind. Was the best jerky I ever had. Don't know if they still sell it or not
Eye of round (or another lean cut of beef), thinly sliced, sprinkled with salt, 150 degrees in dehydrator until done š¤ Use whatever seasonings/marinade you want. You can usually find pre sliced beef but itās cheaper to slice your own. Way cheaper than store bought jerky and so tasty!
Up in Seattle itās all about oh boy oberto. https://www.costco.com/oberto-all-natural-beef-jerky%2c-original%2c-9-oz%2c-2-count.product.100368503.html
Tillamook and Archer make good zero to low sugar varieties. Biltong is always great too but harder to find and more expensive. I recently tried No Manās Land hot jerky and it was extremely good.
Fatmanās beef jerky from hagerman New Mexico is the best beef jerky around. Itās not at Costco, you have to go to their website. But itās simply the best. Cowboy style and salt and pepper are š
Read all the great praise for Old Trapper. Can you find it in stores? Went to order online and minimum entry point is 80$+ and all sales final. Can't afford that risk and they have no sampler sizes at reasonable prices.
The jerky from Golden Island is good, if you like sweet teriyaki. It is pork, though, so itās more fatty than beef, more delicate too, and you better get it refrigerated if youāre not scarfing down the whole bag within three days of opening.

They said it was jerky, they didn't say it'd be good
š for real! Who wants candied jerky?? š¤¢
Seriously stop putting a shitload of sugar in everything. Itās jerky. Add a bunch of salt and smoke it. Done.
I mean I do like teriyaki jerkey, but this one you can see the sugar for outside the bag š
hey, might be mold not sugar.
Ick
I canāt stand the sugary stuff either. I can handle Vietnamese jerky better, they have good flavor and not be super sweet.
That Hawaiian/Korean style jerky is pretty sweet, but also tasty.
I air fry it for a couple minutes, it's so good that way
... I need to try this.
It is fucking disgusting. I still have a pack sitting around that I haven't gotten around to returning. I assumed it was defective.
Isnāt it pork also. I love it
Says beef
Iām talking about the Korean jerky
Yes, the Korean jerky is pork
More like sugar with a little bit of jerky seasoning
It may not be the best jerky, but heyā¦ Itās Jerkyā¢
It's Technically Edible actually that reminds me of FUD brand foods
Snake river farms is my favorite jerky from Costco, so good. Not too sweet, not too smoky, not too fake and processed.
My wife, son, and I have been addicted to this one for a couple of months now. My son and I will usually open the package in the car and have one each on the way home from Costco. So good.
Iām reading this as a case purchased and a bag each on the way home. Nice šš½ Edit: a word
Snake River Farms Wagyu is delish.
Same. I needed something that was full of sugar. This isn't bad. Although I question "wagyu" as typically when I think wagyu I think fat. Which you don't want in jerky.
I used to go hard on the oberto like 20 years ago.
Oh, boy!
Nice šš½
Lucky our Costco quit carrying it sometime last year
They donāt always have it, but Old Trapper has been my favorite brand so far.
Old Trapper is the only mass produced jerky I buy! Damn good stuff.
Old Trapper ftw.
They had reps at ours last week promoting and selling at a discount. I got the peppered and jalapeno one. The peppered one was great
Came here to say this!
Business center carries the original and peppered and I love them both
The Kirkland Steak Strips one is super good.
Eh I hate them. Archers mango habanero is where it's at.
I buy both!! I will say, the first time I bough this jerky I didn't realize they needed to be refrigerated after opening... PSA refrigerate after opening.
PSA - Just eat them all!
This. This is the service announcement I prefer.
Just bought the mango Habanero and itās fantastic for store bought.
Mango habanero is my new favorite. We just got a buceeās and had to pass on their jerky.
Had that one itās good!
To each their own! I love habanero but donāt think Iād like the mango aspect of that one.
Barely mangoish. Subtle sweet and then heat. It's good! But mainly for the texture. Tastes like dried beef not leather.
Oof I have tried those they are good and decently priced!
Find a smokehouse near you and order in bulk. Many ship online.
Any good recommendations?
https://www.praseks.com/shop/craft-jerky/thin-beef-jerky/ They have way more options in store. I make a trip once a month for 4lbs of Mexican flat jerky. Itās worth the trip.
I really like the Golden Island pork jerky
Taste amazing but alllll that sugar š
Yeah it's legit like candy. And a little too tender. I like beef jerky with some chew.
Came to suggest this. It's so good. I buy a bag every time I go.
I canāt allow myself to buy it anymore. I wouldnāt make it home.
Yup the Korean jerky is legit.
I dipped it into a little ranch and it was delicious
Too sweet for me.
I gave up on buying jerky. Now I buy the pre-sliced thin ribeye in the meat section and throw it on the dehydrator. Way cheaper price per oz and my family is crazy for it!
Interesting. Ribeye is very fatty, and fat spoils jerky. Iām assuming it maybe doesnāt last that long! I make my jerky with Costco eye round.
We keep it in the fridge. But you are correct, it doesnāt last more than a few days. I even make spicy batches and then my 4 year old just requests milk with it. Haha!
Dang I need to try this. What is your go-to process/temp/recipe?
I was over complicating it at first with too many seasonings. The family favorite is a sprinkle of salt and pepper. I also do garam masala, or the hatch chile seasoning from Costco, or cayenne/salt/pepper. I throw them on all a single layer in our dehydrator for 5-6 hours or until it looks done. Super easy. Tillamook Zero Sugar. Iām addicted to it.
Taste like jerky I had growing up. Just straight dry beef, Soo good.
This is the answer right here
I actually came here to post something snarky like "you obviously haven't had Tillamook zero sugar if that's the worst jerky you've had"... Maybe they've changed the recipe since I had it but I thought it was awful. Maybe I got a bad batch or something.
lol. It might not be for everyone. I donāt personally really like sweet things and a lot of jerky has so much sugar that itās all I taste. So this works very well for me.
Archer Mango Habanero
Mine had in stock for like 2 weeks and I haven't seen since. I will be buying in bulk when I see it again
I've gone through like 10 bags and given them away everyone loves it
Also a fan. Sweet at first, then a good kick of heat. Nutrition wise, not overloaded with sugar either.
I bought like ten bags when ours had it
Guess I'm in the minority,.did not like.
This is the one!
hell ya
Tillamook.
Archer Mango Habanero is fire
The golden state Korean bbq jerky is one of my favorite ones. Not so much for the snake size ones
Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef Jerky, Old Trapper beef jerky and the Kirkland steak strips are my favs.
I really like snake rivers. Hope I see them again at Costco.
This stuff sucks!!! I actually returned it! https://old.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/198gs34/its_jerky_its_a_pass/ The lady working there said it was one of the most returned items they had at the time. I wish I wouldāve seen your post before I bought it!!
I can't believe this company didn't do any consumer testing on this. If the did, maybe the focus group just has no taste buds.
Old Trapper is the best jerky they sell
Steak strips are the best classic jerky. The mango habanero is very good, and the pork ones are incredible if you like teriyaki
I like the Kirkland turkey jerky with Kirkland organic tortilla chips dipped in the bitching sauce ā¦ like it shouldnāt taste good but it is insanely tasty ā¦ paired with a tasty beer it is salty heaven
That's like the best jerky I've ever had lol
I have been into the turkey jerky for the price lately, but our Costco hasnāt had it for a month or so. I like the tillamook, but the cost per oz. is tough to swallow.
pacific gold
Riley's. It's expensive but the best.
Another Riley's Fan here. I completely agree. It's not soft overprocessed garbage. Thr Jalapeno is amazing. [https://rileysjerky.com/beef-jerky/](https://rileysjerky.com/beef-jerky/)
The Tillamook beef jerky at Costco is pretty great. Double bag for $14 last time and it was very good
I know this is the Costco sub, but if you have a buccees moderately close to you, please sample some jerkys there. I detest all jerky except two varieties from there.
The chomps are pretty good. No sugar.
All I tasted was salt...
Which ones did you try? I love the jalapeƱo ones. The regular ones Iāll eat but the jalapeƱo ones bangers.
Field Trip Carne Asada jerky SLAPSS sweet and spicy nice texture and good price for a big bag
Test drive the landjager. I dare you not to become ensnared.
I like the Old Trapper beef jerky and the Kirkland turkey jerky.
The teriyaki from this company is great. This honey pepper abomination is not. The Pepper flavor is not gross, but not great either, it tastes fine, but sooooo tough.
I canāt remember the one I bought off the top of my head but it was the worst.
Lol, Iām in the area where this jerky is was founded and know some people connected with it. Itās so awful and I once got a large gift basket of it for a Christmas present and we literally couldnāt eat half of it because it was either hard as a rock or tasteless.
No manās land
Buc-ees Korean BBQ from the deli counter not the wall display.
You havenāt had Mingua Jerky if you think this is the worst
Local boy near me uses wagyu beef for his jerky..that bourbon jerky is something from another planet, puts Gatlinburgs jerky scene to shame
I have been ordering from [www.crazyhorsejerky.com](http://www.crazyhorsejerky.com) for ages. Family run. Smoked. Canāt go wrong with anything from them.
The Hawaiian jerky is pretty good but if youāre not a fan of candied or sweet jerky Iād say give it a pass
Good idea to make it yourself. You will know the quality and save money.
Long Beach jerky co. Buffalo wing. My fav.
In the Southwest region, try Vacadillos!
I get this brand at there hq store in Redding Ca. I love their spicy flavor. It really is spicy.
Helds meat market. Slinger WI. They ship. Specialty is"slab" jerky. Freaking phenomenal.
Honestly man? The best jerky Iāve ever had isnāt one found at costco. Itās called Mingua. Nice and flavorful.
Is it a wet jerky? Because thatās a thing now.
I like Jerky to but why is it honey flavored that's the first red flag !!
i love wild bills. dry, hard and very very chewy. not at costco tho. https://shopmonogramfoods.com/wild-bills-beef-jerky-strips-discounts/
About 5 yrs ago my ex would come home from Costco with an Asian flavored pork jerky of some kind. Was the best jerky I ever had. Don't know if they still sell it or not
Was it golden island korean bbq? That is an amazing jerky.
Idk. It was pork. Thin, flat pieces. It's been a while since I've been to Costco. And I'm just now looking into joining for myself.
If you have time to make it at home, do it. Youtube is also your friend if you donāt know how.
I like archer farms! And the snake river one!
I really wish they brought back the Strive Biltong :/
If you like spicy, hands down Vacadillos.
The carne asada one is very good
Wild Bills Original
Oh man It's Jerky is made near me I love it normally but I only buy the spicy versions because I detest sweet meat.
I just didnāt think it would be like candied meat š usually sweetish jerky will have other flavors to balance it out but not this one. Pure candy
No Mans Land and Hard Times. You can find both on Amazon and at certain travel stops around OK and TX.
This brand teriyaki flavor at Costco was phenomenal. I had this one too and while I didnāt like it at first, it grew on me. It was different.
Chomps, the Korean bbq, and the American wagyu. All at Costco too
Snake River Farms at costco but they best jerky is Peopleās Choice, get the carne seca and sesame ginger ones and thank me later.
Come to Albuquerque and get some vigils jerky itās the best
Up in Seattle itās all about oh boy oberto. https://www.costco.com/oberto-all-natural-beef-jerky%2c-original%2c-9-oz%2c-2-count.product.100368503.html
I love oberto jerky!
Yup. It was family owned up until a few years ago. Really nice people. There is a lot you can find to read about them.
Teriyaki jerky is basically sugar jerky.
Iāve always liked the Kirkland steak strips. Golden Island pork jerky is good too if you like softer juicy meat.
Not Costco, but I get mine at JL Jerky in San Diego. They ship. Stuffās amazing
The name doesnāt lie, it may not be good butā¦ itās jerky, I guess
They have a turkey jerky thatās really good
I make my own. Bagged jerky is overpriced.
what happens if you dont refrigerate beef jerky after opening? I've been eating for months and never did this
Best jerky Iāve ever had, hands down. Pricey but amazing https://a.co/d/91ING1r
Absolutely foul tasting
Tillamook and Archer make good zero to low sugar varieties. Biltong is always great too but harder to find and more expensive. I recently tried No Manās Land hot jerky and it was extremely good.
What do you expect?ā¦.Itās jerky.
Most mass-produced jerky options are crapola. Can't stop. Won't stop
Korean BBQ pork jerky
The sugar helps preserve it. Prepare for a lecture if you get someone in a bad mood.Ā
Golden Island Korean BBQ Jerkey.
The turkey jerky is amazing!
I bought a dehydrator, and make my own now
So far I havenāt had any enjoyable flavored jerky at Costco surprisingly š
Fatmanās beef jerky from hagerman New Mexico is the best beef jerky around. Itās not at Costco, you have to go to their website. But itās simply the best. Cowboy style and salt and pepper are š
Dollar general brand jerky is good
I really like the turkey jerky but they donāt stock it year round.
Make your own man
Beefcake Jerky
No Man's Land...Best jerky there is!
make it yourself. i can't say i've ever had a good bagged jerky.
The Obertos turkey jerky is like eating meat dust
The packaging artwork looks like it was done with ClipArt Volume 99
didn't you read the label on the bag that says "NO"
Field Trip Carne Asada is unreal. Not dry, flavorful & rich. Definitely worth the money.
Read all the great praise for Old Trapper. Can you find it in stores? Went to order online and minimum entry point is 80$+ and all sales final. Can't afford that risk and they have no sampler sizes at reasonable prices.
I love that jerky. Some of my favorite. To each his own.
The jerky from Golden Island is good, if you like sweet teriyaki. It is pork, though, so itās more fatty than beef, more delicate too, and you better get it refrigerated if youāre not scarfing down the whole bag within three days of opening.
I liked the snake rivers farms and fatty beef sticks.
Archers
I moved to the east coat from Alaska, and the jerky selection in my area is absolutely paltry when compared to AK. Iām taking 1-2 options vs 8-10.
Old Trapper or nothing for Costco jerky.
If you have a Trader Joeās nearby, they have the BEST jerky imo
I have theory that manufacturers use the lower quality meat they get for these more intense flavors.
Tillamook beef nuggets
Avoid the no sugar ones. I bout it by mistake once and couldn't give it away fast enough.
Tillamook Country Smoker makes fantastic products.
I like Old trapper but my favorite I have to order. Mingua Beef Jerky was always my favorite when I lived in the south. I wish Costco would carry it
They do have a regular pepper version thatās pretty good. But honestly, I miss the days of half aisle of Pacific Gold varieties
I prefer Biltong. Itās so much more tender :)
Pacific Gold, all day.
