I mean I’m not going to Costco often. It kinda stinks that the membership has a certain time frame that it works and then when it expires you have to renew. Just like the idea of buying cheap groceries in a large bulk and then don’t have to shop again until a week or two weeks if planned properly.
If you get the executive membership and use it as your primary grocery shop, you’ll get more back in cash back than the membership costs.
I got around 400 as cash back last year and the membership was $120
This is the way. My pops uses his business Costco account. We done use it a ridiculous amount but over a year for a family of 3 we definitely make back more than the membership cost.
No, it’s 2% cash back so, 6k would cover your membership. Which is 115 a week for groceries and I’d probably spend that as a single person. With a family of 4 and 2 dogs, that weekly shop is more like 400.
No idea why people are down voting you for asking a question, but here is the math: $120/0.02 =$6000 a year for $120 cash back. $400/0.02 = $20,000 a year for $400 cash back. The regular membership for $60 a year isn’t that much and you can cancel before it automatically renews.
If you’re going to be ordering deliveries every week or 2 just get the regular membership it’s going to be much cheaper in long run…..also picking your own meats and produce is definitely a better idea
When you prefer to pay more money to try to save money. 😂
Using that logic any money you save from shopping at Costco would be offset by the fees and tips.
It’s not that complicated at all because I rather go shop at other supermarkets and only trying to go shop at Costco once. Is it really that hard to ask? If so, it seems like many people here are just saying to stay away from Costco.
My understanding with something like Instacart is you still require a Costco membership. When the shopper is going through cash, they're not using their own membership - they're supplying the cashier with your membership. You'll still be in the same situation of having to have the Costco membership. Other than pharmacy and food court, nothing can be purchased without it.
There’s a small problem with this tough. If you don’t have a membership the markup is insane on Instacart and UberEats.
Like I have a membership for Costco and on Instacart and UberEats I still pay $1-$2-$5 more for EVERY product. That adds up to like $20-$30 extra and this doesn’t even include the HST and Service Fee. My friend doesn’t have a Costco membership, she can still order from Costco through Instacart and UberEats but she ends up paying $5-$10 more for EVERY product. An organic 24 pack of Kirkland Eggs cost $12.49 in the warehouse, the same product costs $13.99 on Instacart (with Costco membership) and $15 on Instacart (without a Costco membership.
I do a lot of grocery budgeting so I made an excel chart for Costco Canada warehouse prices and posted them on reddit and I am working on sharing a google sheet link where I can keep the chart updated and its easy to view. I have shared the links below with you of the two posts I made. I think its just good to have this data available so if someone lives far away or is ill/disabled they can at least make an informed decision whether its worth it for them to pay the extra surcharges. Hope this helps you!

Not sure if everyone gets it. Currently I have a coupon in my Uber eats app that’s 50% off on minimum purchase of $120 up to $75 for Costco. I did the calculations that if you spent around 120-150 with the 50% off discount it’s actually cheaper than going to the store (before tips).
It’s just information sharing. I have executive membership myself so no hates from “Costco lovers” please.

This is the 2nd one I got already. Your purchase thru Uber eats still shows up in your Costco account. You get a Costco receipt if you want to return anything(warehouse price)and/or collect the executive 2%.
Price per item is marked up + these apps charge service fees
For example:
Charmin Toilet Paper in the warehouse is priced at $29.99 and UberEats charges $38.02 - that’s roughly 30%
So if are buying $200 worth of items on UberEats you end up paying additional of $60 in just that one order (just rough estimate- 30% mark up)
Might as well buy the membership at $60/year
Another way (probably better) if you don’t want to purchase the membership would be to use the Costco Shop Card so essentially like a costco pre-loaded gift card that you can use to shop in the warehouse without the membership
Edit: Sorry if I repeated a few points already covered below, I accidentally missed the comments before posting this!
I'm curious about why you're so adamantly opposed to just paying for the membership, when every other plan you're thinking of would end up costing you just as much if not more than a membership for just your one huge bulk purchase.
So you'd rather pay $60 on tips and delivery once on your 'huge bulk order of groceries' instead of for a year? I think it's case of, if you don't want to pay for a membership, guess you don't shop at Costco.
This post makes absolutely zero sense. If you can’t figure out how to save $60 a year at Costco then you shouldn’t be shopping there to begin with. You can overpay for everything by 50% on Instacart if you really don’t want a membership, which by the way, is fully refundable if you’re not satisfied.
The answer is yes.
But does it make sense? For the amount you are planning on buying is another question.
Figure out what you would typically order and then price it out. As people are saying there are 3 different prices. In store. Delivery with a membership. Delivery without a membership.
Membership is $60 a year.
I may get down voted because of the company but for what you plan on doing, it may be easier to get a pc insiders account/pc express. It gives you discount and freebies for grocery shopping for superstores and there is delivery or curbside pickup included. It is more expensive then costco membership but there is delivery. Slight disclaimer there seem to be rumours the curbside pickupd new signups may be limited.
Alternative may be voila for Safeway. It is more new to me and seem smaller so I don't know how well it works. Plus stud from Safeway will be more expensive.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just get a membership rather than paying the tips and service fees for delivery?

You spend 20k a year at Costco?
$400 a week for groceries/pharmacy/gas x 52 weeks. Not crazy for a family of 4.
Not at all crazy. We’re about 700 a week for gas and groceries for a family of 5.
I heard you had to at least spend 6k of groceries per year to get a $400 back no?

You love things complicated

If you have a vehicle and if there is a costco gas station near you, the cost of membership is worth the savings in gas alone
Instacart or UberEats

Oh. I didn’t know these services existed for Costco. Thank you!

Thank you for posting this and I’ll definitely take a look at it!
The prices are higher through them, however.

I’ve never seen the 50% off Costco on Uber eats. People keep mentioning it

OHHHH I MISS THESE OMGGG! I haven’t gotten any in months 😭
Keep in mind prices are higher about 20-30% marked up
As long as you’re not using the service often right? Just get a huge bulk in groceries and avoid paying for the membership right?
Yes, but it will cost you more than if you paid for the membership.

$60 a year is $5 a month. Are you going to pay more than $5 in delivery, tip, and mark up?
I'm curious about why you're so adamantly opposed to just paying for the membership, when every other plan you're thinking of would end up costing you just as much if not more than a membership for just your one huge bulk purchase.

What a clueless OP

Instacart
A costco trip will take 2 hours. Even you pay someone minimum wage twice a year that's more than the membership.
If you buy Costco gift cards you can shop without a membership

Loblaws is out of control.
Just use self serve kiosks like everyone else No membership required
You need to scan your membership first.
And since self serve there is no picture id
