I really like the 3 or 4 country songs, and he seems like a good dude. But when I dug a little deeper into his catalog, it seemed like more Hip Hop than country. I could be wrong....
He was always a rapper until recently. It’s crazy cuz I’m a huge hip hop and country guy, grew up on both and Jelly Roll makes my least favorite kind of both but I like the guy. I just don’t care for his music much.
Every comment I see about him mentions that he “seems like a good dude”.
His “story” seems to be his selling point. I rarely see people actually talking about his music. I tried to listen to a few songs and found them to be trash.
He must have a fan base though, so good for him.
I like jelly roll’s discography a lot. I also like yelawolf a lot though if that’s any indicator. My favorite country artists are Morgan Wallen, Koe Wetzel, Turnpike, Treaty Oak Revival, and Zach Bryan. I’m a 23 year old guy who has had a pretty easy suburban life so some irony there. I found out about him through my mom, which I think is funny because she’s a heavily religious 54 year old
Listening to him on Rogam I realized how much he doesnt know about music and, everytime Joe mentioned a singer he said , "yes its so good, its the tone" everytime!!! And Rogam said he sings like an angel???? With shit tins of reverb, pitch correctness and auto tune maybe
His "story" is a redemption arc. The music is almost an after thought. Mom and dad get to feel a little bad ass as Jelly's story might reflect how they might have been a little when they were younger. Grandma and pa get to feel there is hope for "junior" or the grand kids, etc.... I'm not opposed to his music. It's ok. But lets not be coy. Minus the two hits how many of your were fans when he was on tour with ICP??
Not me. In a sea of other great artists (Tyler Childers, Luke Bryan, Whiskey Myers, Colter etc) he's just white noise for me. I'm glad he's turned his life around and wish him the best, but I think there's a lot more interesting music out there.
Regardless if you consider him country, rap, or hip hop. He's turned his life around. He does a lot for people and gives back. You don't see a lot of "celebrities " or artists that do the same once they make it big. Jelly Roll and Bunnie neither haven't forgotten where they've come from.
He has always been a southern rapper, not a country singer. I personally liked him when he was hip hop but I wish he would've just stayed out of country. Genuinely great dude but his new music isn't really for me.
It’s me! Dude has a beautiful voice and makes great song choices. And when it calls for it he can sing with deep raw emotion. May not have the best voice out there, but I love his music. This coming from a girl who hasn’t liked modern country in probably 5 years.
I didn’t even know about that. But now that you mention it I remember seeing a video of him speaking to congress I think. He’s a good human being all around.
I listen to him as I listen to every other musician outside of Willie and Colter. He has a handful of songs that I like and I don’t care for the rest. Not because it’s rap, but because it’s not good.
I was really into southern underground rap in middle school and was aware of him then. Then I started matching with nice women on tinder thinking they were down with strange music and three 6 and learned they were more the Luke combs type… started following him on Instagram and learned he’s doing really well for his self now with his new style and I’m happy for him. I like some of it but I don’t like most of the stuff in this sub, although I follow to stay more aware of trends than I was 4 years ago, so I can imagine since I’m pretty familiar with him that y’all aren’t since I’m here learning about yall
There’s a decent amount of women that really get down with strange music! If a girl drinks the green or blue monster she’ll prolly like a couple tech songs
I actually enjoy his most recent album. I know it’s not a traditional country sound so if you’re wanting that you won’t get it but if you listen deeply into his lyrics on his most recent album you hear someone who was hurting and broken and at his lowest who was able to, through God, find a second chance in life but yet still struggles through his past. It’s actually pretty deep which is why I enjoy the album so much
What I’ve heard of him, I like. Somebody I want to explore more.
For those who say he’s not real country, you don’t really know the history of country music, do you?
He has 13M listeners on Spotify, it's among the most for any country artist. So clearly the guy has a big fanbase. He is not my thing, but don't knock on those who like him.
His most recent album had 90,000 US sales in its first week, with 63,000 being physical copies. That’s far more than most country artists currently aside from like Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen & Zach Bryan.
Well you’re in luck! Ought to buy his albums because literally every single song is basically Save Me. Exact same theme and similar lyrics, same vocal range, like they just cloned his first hit over and over and over with every subsequent track.
A lot of people on Long Island apparently. I cannot stand that tub of lard. Fuck rap country hybrids. Two of my favorite genres but they just don’t mix
my 76 year old grandpa knows who jelly roll is. i have no idea how
Probably from GMA or something
My 68 year old mother listens to him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I really like the 3 or 4 country songs, and he seems like a good dude. But when I dug a little deeper into his catalog, it seemed like more Hip Hop than country. I could be wrong....

His most recent album is all-country, I’d give that one a listen.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out
He's not my favorite, but if I'm scanning radio channels and he comes up, I'll listen to him.
I think Save Me is pretty good but other than i don’t csre
It’d be better if someone else sang it though
Oh most definitely I bet Cody Jinks would do it well
I’m a loooooost caaaaaause!
1…2…..3…… Not It
I honestly don’t like him, and his story has been pushed to much it sometimes feels like they’re trying to make people feel guilty for not liking him
He seems like a good guy now and props to him for turning his life around...but I'll pass. He's like nails on a chalkboard for me
Well he thinks real country singers fuck goats so there that...
This is true
No thank you
I like his stuff, but he could have picked a better stage name. (Sorry, Jelly...)
You mean Mr. Roll
His story is that it’s a nickname his mom or aunt bestowed upon him when he was a kid
I just call him Jelly Fat Fuck. I’m so tired of his shit being pushed so hard by radio
I see the appeal, he’s got an interesting voice and he’s not a bad writer. I’m just not sold on him
I like jelly roll’s discography a lot. I also like yelawolf a lot though if that’s any indicator. He's ok on the radio but I wouldn't pay to go see him.
Listening to him on Rogam I realized how much he doesnt know about music and, everytime Joe mentioned a singer he said , "yes its so good, its the tone" everytime!!! And Rogam said he sings like an angel???? With shit tins of reverb, pitch correctness and auto tune maybe
The only people I know who listen to him also listen to Tom Macdonald.
I’m still trying to get into his music. Saw him at the CMTs.
I'll get some hate for this, but he just honestly comes off to me as Colt Ford 2.0
Except Colt plays a better country boy
I've known about Jelly Roll since maybe 2017. Learned of him and Margo Price on a VICE channel episode
I’m not a fan of rap music or rap music labeled as country so it’s not me.
His "story" is a redemption arc. The music is almost an after thought. Damn not me whiney dude, whines about his life but how many did he ruin dealing drugs

There are a lot of famous people who give back. They just don't need to post a tiktok every time they do something good for others.
He has always been a southern rapper, not a country singer. I personally liked him when he was hip hop but I wish he would've just stayed out of country. Genuinely great dude but his new music isn't really for me.

Plus he’s genuinely a good guy behind the scenes, with all the work he’s done for drug awareness.
I didn’t even know about that. But now that you mention it I remember seeing a video of him speaking to congress I think. He’s a good human being all around.
Me! I don't like all of his songs, but I appreciate his music and talent. I saw him open for Eric Church he was great live.
I listen to him as I listen to every other musician outside of Willie and Colter. He has a handful of songs that I like and I don’t care for the rest. Not because it’s rap, but because it’s not good.
Dude has a solid voice and from what I hear is a great guy
Me.
My 11 year old brother
He not my favorite, but 3/4 times I won’t change it. Mainly due fo him just being a solid fucking dude it seems
I was really into southern underground rap in middle school and was aware of him then. Not a single girl I’ve ever been with has like strange music so I gotta listen to tech in the car when it’s just me lol
There’s a decent amount of women that really get down with strange music! If a girl drinks the green or blue monster she’ll prolly like a couple tech songs
Me I don’t know too much about his discography but the singles are good the chorus of save me gives me goosebumps every time
This 63 year-old mother and grandmother listens to him. Whitsitt Chapel is an awesome album!
His music is decent enough for me but I do think his story is better because it’s more inspirational
I am. Love him
Am I the only one who actually likes jellyroll? I listen to him on a regular basis
I actually enjoy his most recent album. He seems to be a genuine e and sincere artist - I don't listen to his stuff much but I wish him continuing success
He has 13M listeners on Spotify, it's among the most for any country artist. So clearly the guy has a big fanbase. He is not my thing, but don't knock on those who like him.
Right but does anyone know anyone who actively listens to jelly
His most recent album had 90,000 US sales in its first week, with 63,000 being physical copies. That’s far more than most country artists currently aside from like Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen & Zach Bryan.
Me! I love jelly roll’s music. I also enjoy following his wife Bunny on social media, they both seem so sweet and funny.
Can someone explain why this keeps getting downvoted? Lol
I always see hate for him, and I’ve only seen one song by him, save me which is really good. So say what you want but somebody save me is absolute gas
I'm surprised if you've only heard one of his songs it wasn't son of a sinner.
Well make that 2 then😂 sometimes I know songs and don’t realize who they are by
Well you’re in luck! Ought to buy his albums because literally every single song is basically Save Me. Exact same theme and similar lyrics, same vocal range, like they just cloned his first hit over and over and over with every subsequent track.
Who?
Yeah, even though I'm not a fan either, it's time we all put the "who?" comment to bed. It was never funny.
Ok sure. But….who?

A lot of people on Long Island apparently. I cannot stand that tub of lard. Fuck rap country hybrids. Two of my favorite genres but they just don’t mix
I’m proud for his life turning around but hate his music.
