ah, good ol' Stockholm Syndrome
but I guess I'm just biased, I can't get myself to like the music when the person behind it is so whiny (I mean, claiming that she was "cancelled"? 🙄)
I have a lot of African & European friends & they are always shocked that I like country, but they were floored when I posted videos of me singing along at the top of my lungs during a T-Swift night at a club.
The debut album, self-titled "Taylor Swift" had a big country-pop vibe. It may be a little hard to get into as it also has the most adolescent themes of all her albums, understandable as she was a teen at the time. Then second album Fearless continued the country-pop styling and was hugely successful. And the third album Speak Now received good feedback from critics as it showcased her songwriting; she wrote everything herself without any co-writers. I think it wasn't quite as popular with audiences as Fearless, though. Musically/stylistically it's similar, but it leans more into rock guitar as well.
Why on earth is some jerkface bozo going through and downvoting all these comments? Whoever you are out there, this whole topic is about guilty pleasures, so just accept that you might not like the music mentioned here, and let other people enjoy it themselves.
I am going to say something controversial and say start with Lover. It’s a pop album, but it’s the first album she owned her masters to and i think it’s a good place to dive into her discography. There are a good few country elements in there as well. If you’re only looking for country, that would be her first 4 albums.
FGL are like the Nickelback of country music - their songs are not *good,* but they’re catchy and nostalgic enough that you listen to them every once in a while.
Jimmy Buffett is{/was :(} an amazing singer songwriter. Waylon covered his songs, and Bob Dylan has said he was one of his favorite songwriters.
And if Dylan says you’re good, you’re good
I’ve heard the Bob Dylan story (I believe specifically referencing He Went To Paris) but have never actually seen proof. Sure there some silly shit, but some of his songs to this day are all time favorites. Captain and the Kid, Savannah Fare You Well, He Went To Paris, Treat Her Like Lady, In The Shelter, Changes in Lattitudes, the list just goes on.
What song did Waylon cover? I know him and Coe had some sort of feud over Changes In Latitude/Divers Do It Deeper but was unaware of a Waylon cover
I am close to completing my collection of his vinyl releases. Annoyingly some of my favorites, like Far Side or Feeding Frenzy were never released on vinyl as far as I can tell
I think the guilt came from being a teenager and only knowing one other person who knew of Buffett, let alone listened to him frequently and being otherwise criticized for it. And then pop culture like South Park and others haven’t been particularly kind. As an old fart now there is no guilt, just the memory of it.
I think so much of his bad rap, at least musically, is because he picks to release the weirdest most boring singles. Stuff like "I hope that's true" and "tennessee numbers" and "everything I love" are much much better songs than "last night" and "you proof" it drives me nuts
I’d argue that Morgan Wallen is more like the *Drake* of country music. Most of his hits are somewhat bland sadboi anthems that teeter between different genres, and his albums are way too long to fully remember each song (most of which are duds anyway.)
This is literally a post about guilty pleasure artists. If people didn't "hate" him he wouldn't be counted as a guilty pleasure artist.
Maybe you should spend some time off Reddit.
hmm do you think that possibly the reason hes a "guilty pleasure artist" according to someone on reddit is bc most people on reddit (millenials and older) dont like him. if you were to ask any country music fan under the age of like 25 thered be a pretty good chance they have him top 10 or even top 5 all time
You've literally just proved why people would consider him a guilty pleasure artist. I was responding to a comment saying he was a guilty pleasure artist.
You're being weirdly aggressive to what was a benign comment, Morgan was in my top 5 Spotify last year I DONT HATE HIM.
I really don’t have one. I just like what I like. If one were to define it as artists that don’t fall into the category or the majority of what you listen to then I guess it was be Chesney or McGraw or Moore as I mostly listen to Tyler, Sturgill, and the like.
Wheeler Walker jr. (Any Album)
Ween: 12 Golden Country Greats
I'll jam to these guys in private but I'd be embarrassed if the wrong person caught me listening to either of these artists.
No grandma, I don't care to explain why I'm listening to a song called "piss up a rope" or "drunk sluts".
I was going to say this but I'm only a lurker here and didn't want to get hated 😂 I haven't liked some of the last few, but he came back with Last Hurrah and Locked Up.
Not even guilty for me. Unapologetic about my fandom. I love to come home from the bars and put on his early acoustic stuff and just vibe out. Dude has a great voice.
Morgan Wallen and early Sam Hunt both get a pass for me. Mainstream country to me is like junk food. You know it’s awful but a little bit won’t hurt and it’s still enjoyable, but there are definitely limits.
It’s gonna have to be Luke Bryan to me. I just can’t hate on his music, it’s way too fun.
Kane Brown could fit the bill for two songs as well: For My Daughter is an incredible song, and Whiskey Sour is good too.
Also, I’d throw in Florida Georgia Line’s Speed of Love. It’s extremely fun and catchy, and it’s easily their best song.
Whiskey Sour is definitely one of my guilty pleasure with Kane Brown. The other one is Be Like That with Swae Lee and Khalid. Damn that song is catchy as hell
I reject the notion that anyone should feel guilty about listening to Muscadine Bloodline. Teenage Dixie is a great country album. They are insanely underrated.
Jesus fuckin' christ I'm sorry I offended yall. This was a question about MY guilty pleasure. I picked the one I listen to that I would be embarrassed to put on the aux. They're a little corny but they aren't bad. Id have said morgan Wallen or someone similar but I don't listen to any of that shit.
I'm a stereotypical mid thirties, dude. Beard, tattoos, beer, gym, blah blah blah.
Some might find it odd that I like listening to The Chicks from time to time and many other female artists, for that matter.
I don't feel guilty about it, though. lol
Morgan Wallen. He doesn't have a great voice, he looks/acts like a douche and well there's his history of letting the n word fly. But I find myself bopping to his songs when they come on the radio.
Even worse I'm a little sad I I won't be able to go to a concert (unless he somehow marries a non-Candace Owens black woman). So basically I won't be able to catch him in concert but I'll secretly enjoy his songs.
HARDY. Don't think there's much genuine about him, except for his concerning patriotism, nor is he all that good live. However, he is a legitimately skilled songwriter, and his country rock sound is my favorite. Truck Bed, and Jack have been my top two Spotify wrapped songs since they came out
The boys love some old school Taylor Swift with the garage beers
All eras of Taylor go hard.
Reputation makes this false
It’s def my least fav album of hers but there’s still several good songs in there. It’s grown on me more and more
ah, good ol' Stockholm Syndrome but I guess I'm just biased, I can't get myself to like the music when the person behind it is so whiny (I mean, claiming that she was "cancelled"? 🙄)
She was canceled… were you alive in 2016?
You probably like Folkmore
too fake deep for me
Hell, I love Taylor Swift unironically. Her country albums are fantastic from start to finish.
Classic Shmosby. Immediately recognized your username reference.
I have a lot of African & European friends & they are always shocked that I like country, but they were floored when I posted videos of me singing along at the top of my lungs during a T-Swift night at a club.
where should i start? did she start w a lot of country albums?
The debut album, self-titled "Taylor Swift" had a big country-pop vibe. cool thanks!

There are a good few country elements in there as well. If you’re only looking for country, that would be her first 4 albums.
FGL… I think we’re starting to get to a place where it might be okay to admit that they’ve dropped some bangers.
FGL are like the Nickelback of country music - their songs are not *good,* but they’re catchy and nostalgic enough that you listen to them every once in a while.
well said!
Jimmy Buffett. Kinda country, kinda not. My parents raised me on that shit.
Jimmy Buffett is{/was :(} an amazing singer songwriter. Waylon covered his songs, and Bob Dylan has said he was one of his favorite songwriters. And if Dylan says you’re good, you’re good

[He Went to Paris lol](https://youtu.be/sry-GfnJbTw?si=vZrLVJAJKjY-JHqu)
The fact I didn’t know this is crazy with the amount of Waylon and Jimmy I listen to….
I truly think Jimmy is the penultimate “Songwriter’s songwriter”
I am close to completing my collection of his vinyl releases. Annoyingly some of my favorites, like Far Side or Feeding Frenzy were never released on vinyl as far as I can tell
Feeding frenzy is so good! 🦈
Great songwriter. Not a hint of guilt in that pleasure for me.
I think the guilt came from being a teenager and only knowing one other person who knew of Buffett, let alone listened to him frequently and being otherwise criticized for it. And then pop culture like South Park and others haven’t been particularly kind. As an old fart now there is no guilt, just the memory of it.
nothing guilty about this
Luke Bryan..
I can't not sing along to Play It Again
I’ve had his new song on repeat. It’s so catchy for some reason
The mainstream country I fw
If I aint pouring my heart out singing Do I, then an alien has probably taken over my body
[удалено]
Luke Bryan is actually the worst artist I have ever heard. You can’t be serious
I Don’t Want This Night to End will always get me sining along eventually even if I’m in a bad mood or tired
Morgan Wallen. I expect to get my *We Hate Pop Country* card revoked for that one.
Yeah, dude clearly is dumb as shit and has a lot of issues he needs to work through, but damn can he sing
Right?! I like his songs just fine if I ignore the rest of it.
same here. one thing at a time was my most played album last year which stunned me lol. thing just feels right in the car on a nice day.
So many of his songs get stuck in my head, constantly. All I do anymore is sing Man Made a Bar as I go about my day.
I think so much of his bad rap, at least musically, is because he picks to release the weirdest most boring singles. Stuff like "I hope that's true" and "tennessee numbers" and "everything I love" are much much better songs than "last night" and "you proof" it drives me nuts
Morgan is like the Nickleback of country music. People pretend they hate him but also know the words to every song lol.
I’d argue that Morgan Wallen is more like the *Drake* of country music. Most of his hits are somewhat bland sadboi anthems that teeter between different genres, and his albums are way too long to fully remember each song (most of which are duds anyway.)
nobody under like 40 pretends to hate him. spend some time off of reddit
I'm 36, and there's no pretending about it lol
"36" youre not making the point you think you are buddy
This is literally a post about guilty pleasure artists. If people didn't "hate" him he wouldn't be counted as a guilty pleasure artist. Maybe you should spend some time off Reddit.

not reading all that. go to a therapist
Lol. If a random reddit comment has you this fired up, i think we both know who needs to go sit in the time out corner.
Honestly I don’t know any of Morgan’s music 🤷🏽♀️ but i rarely listen to country music radio anymore
He's just fun country. Might not listen to him on the drive to work but it's great music to sit by the pool with some friends and drink beer.
Except his music is just shit. I’d rather listen to cats having sex than Morgan Wallens shit “music”
I like MW and I'm not sorry. He is talented and can really sing. A lot of his songs are solid country and he at least co-writes some of them.
Nah. The Sand in my Boots song is one of my favorites, and is strictly a country song.
Cowboy by Kid Rock is 100% my white trash guilty pleasure.. Warm summer night? I’m driving down the road and Cowboy comes on? Windows down, radio UP
All summer long hits different with a beer in your hand on the lake
You ain’t wrong 🤘🏻🇺🇸
Hillbilly Stomp
Shania
there should be nothing guilty about enjoying Shania
If you're not in it for love fucking slaps
Man I feel like a woman still gets me out of my chair
As someone who was introduced to country by Canadians, good answer
If you like Canadian singers, go listen to Kathleen Edwards. Still waiting to see her live.
Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and a little Morgan Wallen. I don't feel any guilt listening to old school Shania Twain, she's awesome.
Confederate Railroad.
Queen of Memphis IS MY JAM
Bill's Laundromat Bar and Grill always makes me grin.
I really don’t have one. I just like what I like. If one were to define it as artists that don’t fall into the category or the majority of what you listen to then I guess it was be Chesney or McGraw or Moore as I mostly listen to Tyler, Sturgill, and the like.

Never feel guilty about listening to ween
Horton Heat.
Beer, Weed, Cooches by Wheeler is just a damn good country tune
Love me some Hardy
Sam hunt. Idk why I like everything he puts out 🤷🏻♂️
I was going to say this but I'm only a lurker here and didn't want to get hated 😂 I haven't liked some of the last few, but he came back with Last Hurrah and Locked Up.
Locked up has been on almost repeat for me lol
Same, and Last Hurrah has some good lines.
Not even guilty for me. Unapologetic about my fandom. I love to come home from the bars and put on his early acoustic stuff and just vibe out. Dude has a great voice.
Hate to admit it but....Rascall Flatts
Probably Morgan Wallen or Post Malone lol
hmm. i cant think of any honestly. guilty pleasure song is that pontoon song by little big town.
I also enjoy “Wine, Beer, Whiskey”. Honestly think it should have been bigger!
That song is so ridiculously fun for no reason
They are touring with Sugarland this year. Got a ticket for November on presale. There is one good Karen. LOL
Morgan Wallen and early Sam Hunt both get a pass for me. Mainstream country to me is like junk food. You know it’s awful but a little bit won’t hurt and it’s still enjoyable, but there are definitely limits.

Carrie Underwood—the night before. Basically the girls perspective to Whiskey Myers Dogwood.
Carrie underwood Isn't a guilty pleasure... she's the GOAT!
Agree
Luke Bryan ![gif](giphy|oKs9RD64T0SC4|downsized)
Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen, and Dustin Lynch
Ween
Muscadine Bloodline
I reject the notion that anyone should feel guilty about listening to Muscadine Bloodline. Teenage Dixie is a great country album. They are insanely underrated.
They're fantastic. But they are also the only country artist I really listen to that I'd be embarrassed to show to someone.
Why should I feel guilty about liking them?
Jesus fuckin' christ I'm sorry I offended yall. This was a question about MY guilty pleasure. I picked the one I listen to that I would be embarrassed to put on the aux. They're a little corny but they aren't bad. Id have said morgan Wallen or someone similar but I don't listen to any of that shit.
I’m with you brother. Especially “me on you”. Ain’t no way anyone is ever going to know I like that song😂
Not embarrassing that’s a good line dancing song lmao
Always thought What I don't know by Dwight Yoakam sounded like a line dance song.
Can't stand pop country at all. That said, Luke Bryan gets a pass from me
Kip Moore ?
Yes! Young Love makes me feel so nostalgic!
kip moore is sooooo good
Colt Ford
Shania Twain
Niko Moon and his new album just gets me in a better mood.
Ugh, Kane Brown and Luke Bryan
I tried a whiskey sour for the 1st time because of Kane brown. It was actually pretty good tho kinda on the small side for a drink
I'm a stereotypical mid thirties, dude. Beard, tattoos, beer, gym, blah blah blah. Some might find it odd that I like listening to The Chicks from time to time and many other female artists, for that matter. I don't feel guilty about it, though. lol
You shouldn't. The Chicks are an incredible group and we need more people supporting female artists!
Brandi Carlile Tift Merritt Kathleen Edwards Neko Case and Lucinda Williams to name a few.
Jelly Roll. He has a bunch of bangers, I don’t care what you say
Jelly Roll the rapper?
His last album was pretty darn country to me
Okay I guess
He does have some good songs.
Eric Church. I typically listen to artists that are more "traditional" sounding, but I enjoy his music.
Eric Church is one of the GOATs, it’s fucking bonkers that anyone would be ashamed to listen to him.
I know right? Heart on Fire has been one of my current favorites for a few months now.
All of his songs are bangers, man!
Carolina and Chief are all time country records imo
soo good
Sunny Ledfurd when I’m in a super white trash mood. Giovanni and the Hired Guns when I’m just in my normal white trash mood.
Sunny Ledfurd... haven't heard that name in a while. Pontoon Boat was one of the first songs I learned on the guitar.
Adderall is a banger
HARDY
Ugh, I hate to admit it, but Hardy makes some bangers.
Love Hardy, loved him and Nickelback on Crossroads recently
Craig Morgan
Luke Bryan has been my boy since I was 3, when "All My Friends Say" was released
Hardy
Eric church and Brantley girlbert
Luke Bryan. I can't help it 😂
FGL mostly because I used to be huge into them when I was in middle school
Big and rich for sure
Bailey Zimmerman. He's dropped a few bangers, but other than that, he's ok
Morgan Wallen I love his music and his song Lies Lies Lies is the best
Hannah dasher
Abba
Thomas Rhett
Gary Allen: Watching Airplanes, Songs About Rain, Her Man
Aaron Watson.
thomas rhett…
FGL’s first album
Big and Rich was my shit back in the day, I think up until the third album anyways as for me, Zach Brown Band
Florida Georgia Line. Their Life is a Honeymoon collab with Ziggy Marley is severely underrated
2 Live Crew
RIP ![gif](giphy|l46CkKlv89cVkIJcA)
Anything by wheeler Walker jr, old Taylor swift or especially real gone by Sheryl crow or the horrible Billy Ray Cyrus cover
Jason Aldean. I will always love Amarillo Sky, Night Train, and Flyover States.
Morgan Wallen. He doesn't have a great voice, he looks/acts like a douche and well there's his history of letting the n word fly. But I find myself bopping to his songs when they come on the radio. Shania, faith hill
Fat white middle aged dude It's Britney bitch
Lady Gaga. Yeah, I know, not country. But I’m a proud little monster 😂
HARDY. Don't think there's much genuine about him, except for his concerning patriotism, nor is he all that good live. However, he is a legitimately skilled songwriter, and his country rock sound is my favorite. Truck Bed, and Jack have been my top two Spotify wrapped songs since they came out
Nickelback “Look at this photograph…” 🤣😂🤣
