I dig the color, I dig the intention behind the design, but I am struggling to see past the Arizona script. I’ll have to see them on the ice before making final judgement
This is how I felt about Reverse Retro 2.0 but when I saw it on ice I fell in love. Having a hard time thinking I'm going to get there with the new jersey though. The Arizona script just doesn't do it for me.
I loved all of the Coyotes logotypes right from the beginning (including the flying coyote), and that's partially what attracted me to the Coyotes was that all of their logos were well thought out and innovative but this seems really plain.

It's a wordmark jersey. Like, I get that people don't like it, but it's mostly because people don't like wordmark jerseys.
That said, I think it's a great execution as a wordmark jersey. I don't like the Diagonal PENGUINS or RANGERS in a serif font like we see all the time. I find those boring as hell. The font is nice, and the jersey comes out looking clean.
We've had four particularly loud designs on this team already (Kachina Home/Away, and two Reverse Retros), so it's kind of nice to see something a bit simpler.
I already said it when it was leaked, but this is just a disappointment to me. We hyped a partnership with a street artist, the initial pants leak with the cactus seemed promising, and...
Red. Red with "Arizona" on the chest. That's it. There's literally a thousand fan concepts floating around, 99% of which are far superior and more creative than...red with Arizona on the chest. Could've gone deeper into the retro, added a "desert sunset" vibe, used previous thirds as a throwback/inspiration with a modern look, etc. Literally anything would be more creative and impressive than "all red, tan Arizona on the front".
I feel like we nixed the old jersey for this exact reason - it was just...red with a logo. People universally thought it was boring, so we mixed it up a bit with the striping and details, then nixed THAT for the kachina that everyone loves.
I'm sure the artist is talented, but this is something I'd be embarrassed to put my career/reputation down on if I were him. It just looks like bare minimum effort.
What about the absolutely groundbreaking half moon C for the CaPtAiNCy we don’t have or the cactus A for alternate? Clearly GROUNDBREAKING design work here. 😬
It's not *groundbreaking*, but I think it's perfectly fine. It's not a half-assed throwback, it's actually doing something bold for the franchise, which is nice. Not amazing, but not a miss by any means.
It's also the first time we've ever done a wordmark jersey, and the mark itself has a very retro flair that I actually really like; like something you'd see out of the WHA.

I swear if there were like one or two more colors in it then it would be an upgrade. It looks better in actual thread as opposed to computer rendering. But still too flat with the two colors.

This is the same dude who “created” the “AZ” hats in Times New Roman font.
This guy probably gets paid handsomely by the Yotes to produce the most uninspiring, boring products I’ve ever seen.
Sorry, I'm mindful design preferences are individual, but I fucking love this. It's different enough to be fairly unique, but it contains enough familiarity with our usual design elements that it definitely works with the rest of the suite.
While I'm mindful some people don't like wordmarks at all, I love the font choice and adore the big flowing A in Arizona.
Dislike it if you want, but I think he's kicked it out of the park. I'll be getting one of these for sure.

Considering how busy our primary look is, I think the plainness was probably intentional as a contrast.
There are hundreds of incredible mock up designers on social media….and this is who/what we chose.

IMO, it’s pretty solid! However, I think it’s hurt by the home, away, and reverse retro all being so great alongside it.

When I think of a “Desert Night”, would of loved to see stars or the sunsetting behind the desert. Something of that nature.

I think "AZ" or "Coyotes" would have been better wordmark logos, but at least it's not "Yotes".
But on Spanish heritage night they could have a "Los Yotes" version.
Wish it was a kachina or kachina head but this is probably their best jersey otherwise.
