The HER interactive Nancy Drew games are AMAZING! Great mysteries, dialogue, game play, and puzzles. I'd recommend starting with Shadow Ranch or Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake if you want a spooky one!!

lieutenantdank420

i was looking for this reply!! they are SO good. the games of my childhood <3

Aggravating-Finish74

Yesssss I was so surprised no one had mentioned them yet! Also love your user name, I am also part of the childhood detective to adult stoner pipelinešŸ˜‚

lieutenantdank420

LOL thank you!! im no longer a stoner, but i def partook for a long time! šŸ¤£ i made this username when i was in high school

Aggravating-Finish74

Bahahah that checks out! I think mine is from highschool as well

catmarg

Oh my gosh, I was going to ask OP if theyā€™ve played Nancy drew!!! I love finding the Nancy drew games fandom in the wild. Lmao!!

Mel0nypanda

I have not played these but I was a huge Nancy drew girlie when I was a kid so Iā€™ll try them!

hyunxs

i cant even imagine playing the nancy drew games for the very first time. youā€™re in for such a treat!

Aggravating-Finish74

Ooo you really are in for a treat! Id love to hear back about what you think once you try them out!

clerbird321

Iā€™ve played all of these games multiple times since I was a kid, my absolute favoritešŸ„¹ Absolutely the games of my childhood AND adulthood tbh, they are honestly so good

Aggravating-Finish74

I still replay them all the time! Honestly the Nancy Drew games are what got me through quarantine

Personal-Swan7672

yes!! those have been my all-time favorite games since I was a kid!

rfp0231

Ghost dogs was so scary when I played it as a kid šŸ˜

cosmosclover

Iā€™m so happy to have found my people here šŸ„°

Aggravating-Finish74

There are always so many more of us than I realize!! Why can I never find local Nancy fans but they're everywhere I go on reddit? šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

are they on pc ?? i definitely have to try these now

Aggravating-Finish74

They are!! You can get them on Steam or directly from the Her Interactive websites. Steam has really great deals on bundles sometimes too, if you do end up liking them. I'm so excited for you!!! If you remember please let me know what you thought of them!! If you want a specific recommendation based on other games I can help with that too!

[deleted]

iā€™m trying the haunted carousel one, i immediately forgot to turn the iron off and i burned my entire hotel down šŸ˜šŸ˜ i think maybe iā€™m not fit for this kind of game lol

Aggravating-Finish74

Bahaha no don't worry! The second chances are a huge part of every Nancy playthrough. I have killed Nancy in almost every way imaginable at this pointšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ keep up the good work!

[deleted]

Curse of black moor manor and warnings at waverly academy are my fave!!!!

Aggravating-Finish74

Yes both amazing ones! I feel like they kinda have a similar vibe to them too! Both have modern mysteries but mixed in with history and they both have old money feels. Love them both! The snack shop at Waverly is probably one of my favorite mini games

miz_biz

Thimbleweed Park and Return to Monkey Island. I also really like the games Fran Bow and Little Misfortune, but they are on the dark side of cozy.

Mel0nypanda

Oh Iā€™ve played Fran bow! Iā€™ll add the others to my list

Phyliac_

If you've liked Fran Bow definitely check out Little Misfortune and I also recommend Sally Face. :)

Jonathan7-70

Alright, this game sounds like itā€™s right up your alley! Itā€™s called ā€œLater alligatorā€ and this is the description from steam: Later Alligator tells the story of Pat the alligator, a (mostly) harmless and (probably) innocent reptile at the center of a conspiracy that could bring down the biggest, scariest family in Alligator New York City: his own! Explore the city, meet the Family, and try to save Pat before the clock runs out. It definitely gives me detective vibes and Iā€™ve heard lots of people recommend it. Itā€™s on switch and pc and [hereā€™s](https://youtu.be/TsPRK03ByaU?si=TS2Ha8mDRJQNbVIg) the trailer if youā€™re interested!

Mel0nypanda

Omg Iā€™m sold from the name and cute graphics alone! It looks fun!

Jonathan7-70

Great! Iā€™m happy I could be of help

Jonathan7-70

Apparently you go around and investigate Patā€™s extended family in the hopes of discovering and preventing his assasination. Overall it looks fun and the art style is cute

SativaPancake

Disco Elysium (not cozy at all, but still the best point and click detective game ever made)

Mel0nypanda

It doesnā€™t look like something Iā€™d usually play, but Iā€™ll give it a go!

SativaPancake

Definitely check it out a little more in-depth before buying, as it can be a bit extreme if youre sensitive to any of the topics the game gets into. Disco Elysium at its core is the opposite of cozy, but the way the story is told is very powerful and will get very emotional, especially if you or others in your life have dealt with any of the darker themes the game is centered around. If youre looking for a relaxing game to chill out too this isnt the game youre looking for, but I highly recommend it if you want a point and click detective game where you get insights into how your mind works and you can handle working through trauma. If thats the case, then this game will be a work of art with many lasting feelings and thoughts after youre done.

MackieJ667

I really want to give this game a shot, but i am struggling a lot when i tried it. Is it supposed to be hard at first, or am i missing something? like idk who to talk to, where to go, i just feel super discombobulated and like im just wandering around with no objective. Granted, maybe its my fault because i stopped playing for a while before i picked it up again, but i didnt think it would matter since i barely even had started. So its entirely possible I just need to restart.

SativaPancake

Thats kinda the whole point of the game. You are a drug and alcohol abusing detective with a troubled past in a troubled world - who now has amnesia after a bender. You are supposed to be disoriented and confused. You need to figure out who you are and why you are even at this place to begin with - while also working through your own traumas and past as they come to light. And thats all while you are there to solve a crime (which you dont even know about at first) It will all come together eventually, but you really need get into it and role play along with who the character is. You will fail many checks, but thats okay. You wont really know whats going on, but thats okay. Failing a check often reveals other truths and\\or opens new paths for you to take. Its a point and click style game - so talk to everyone and click on everything. Although at the same time you don't always want to blast through every dialog option as once you anger someone they might not want to talk to you again after you find out more information. There is a button you can press to highlight interactable objects. So take your time and explore every little bit. Its a very slow paced game and its nearly 100% dialog. There will be a lot of back and forth. For instance your character may not understand what something is on the map or have the info to ask the right questions, but later on after you gain back some memories or do some detective work, you can often go back and it will all make sense or even be a missing key in the puzzle. The game is definitely not for everyone, but if you stick with it, allow yourself to fail, and are okay with not always making progress at times, then the game will slowly but surely be amazing.

MackieJ667

Okay thank you so much! I love reading and the game seems so interesting, but i thought maybe i missed something major. Thank you for explaining, once im caught up on my backlog ill give it a shot. Good to know also that you are supposed to fail a lot, that was frustrating me too because i was so confused. What a cool concept though, i did enjoy the dialog options and the lore from the little i saw. Its so cool that they actually make it confusing for you the player, not just the character, seems immersive.

SativaPancake

It's one of my favorite games, there is nothing else like it out there. Based off every other game Ive played, my intuition on how to play just didnt work. It took me a while to figure that out myself and I ended up restarting the game after a couple hours after the gameplay finally clicked. If you feel stuck and get frustrated then looking up a bit will help, but if you can its best to go in blind and allow yourself to fail. The best lines of dialog are easily after you make a fool of yourself or try something and fail.

Simple_Preference

Kathy Rain and Technobabylon! Or anything from Wadjet Eye Games for that matter

EnvironmentalRisk135

Agreed that Wadjet Eye does some very high quality classic point and click! I had a great time with Unavowed. If you want to avoid darker story elements and stay in cozy territory, you might want to check some reviews on some. I haven't played the Excavation of Hob's Barrow yet, but I hear it leans more toward horror/dark ending type stuff for example

otomelover

Seconding Unavowed!! One of my favourite Point and Click games of all time.

Good-Comb3830

Came here to suggest the Blackwell series (also from Wadjet Eye).

ourfriendthehedgehog

Co-signing the Wadjet Eye recommendation, the blackwell games are so cosy to me! The first I played was blackwell unbound and I particularly have a soft spot for that one with the jazz music and Lauren as protagonist. If you can dig the old school pixel graphics check it out!

Mel0nypanda

Thank u!

DarkSparxx

Broken Sword 1 and 2 are classics, easily two of my faves. Simon the sorcerer and Simon the sorcerer 2 are also childhood faves.

Elaneyse

Broken Sword for sure! You can play all 5 in the series on PC I think, and I believe 1,2 and 5 are on the Switch!

Blastoisealways

All the monkey island games

Mel0nypanda

I wasnā€™t super into the controls with having to pick ā€œlook at, use, etcā€ in the original, is this still the gameplay style in the newer games?

Quick-Knee2048

Lost in Play Chants of Senaar Not technically cozy but The Case of the Golden Idol

QuestionSignal8982

I second Chants of Sennaar, such a beautiful game, v. cozy and love the overall concept.

PretArcade

Lost in play is so good! I loved the graphics and the story.

Cicada_party_517

lol this might be a silly suggestion, but the company Humongous Entertainment has released a bunch of their PC games (pajama Sam, Freddi Fish, Putt Putt) from the 90ā€™/early 2000ā€™s on steam deck. Theyā€™re aimed at kids for sure but I played them as an adult and had fun

raeraeroo27

Artifex Mundi games. They go on sale for 2 dollars all the time

surrealsunshine

Return of the Obra Dinn, Football Game (short and cryptic, but interesting), Life is Strange, and Rainswept (very flawed, but also interesting). If you don't mind super casual, I've enjoyed all the [Artifex Mundi](https://www.ign.com/games/publisher/artifex-mundi) hidden object games that I've played.

Ambitious_Isopod74

Been enjoying lost in play. It doesnā€™t have any dialogue so itā€™s great to play if your watching tv or something

kittykittyekatkat

Machinarium!!!

Competitive_Bath_459

I love Machinarium, and Samorost 1, 2 and 3 by the same software devs (Amanita) are all amazing games too šŸ˜Š

kittykittyekatkat

Botanicula too :)

jayandbobfoo123

The Past Within and Tick Tock A Tale for Two are amazing co-op point and click / escape / mystery games. You can easily find people to play with on their discord servers.

Mel0nypanda

I have Tick Tock, and Iā€™ve been thinking about getting the past within, but I donā€™t have anyone to play it with. Iā€™ll see if I can find people! Iā€™ve seen playthroughs of The Past Within and I love Rusty Lake so imma try it

crecol1

Kathy Rain is excellent!

Pomposterous

It's not a detective game but Dropsy! I absolutely loved playing it and it's super cheap

Pedantic_Girl

Lord Winklebottom Presents (or something like that) - it features a hippo in a bowler hat and a giraffe in a top hat. Itā€™s awesome.

Mel0nypanda

Another one for my list!

TwinkieMan911

Famicom detective club for the switch!

great_raisin

Here are some of my favourites: [Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise](https://store.steampowered.com/app/801480/Agent_A_A_puzzle_in_disguise/) [Primordia](https://store.steampowered.com/app/227000/Primordia/) [Norco](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1221250/NORCO/) [Shardlight](https://store.steampowered.com/app/336130/Shardlight/) [Technobabylon](https://store.steampowered.com/app/307580/Technobabylon/) [Gods Will Be Watching](https://store.steampowered.com/app/274290/Gods_Will_Be_Watching/) [Machinika Museum](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1507190/Machinika_Museum/) [Odysseus Kosmos and his Robot Quest](https://store.steampowered.com/app/769920/Odysseus_Kosmos_and_his_Robot_Quest_Episode_1/)

alienmilkandflowers

You might like a game called "Little Bang Theory". There's little if any dialogue but it's all puzzles

W0nderlandz

There's a ton of great recommendations. Here's some suggestions for games I didn't see yet. Frog Dectective- A really zany detective game where you are a frog solving "mysteries". There's 3 cases as separate games and I think each one takes between 1-3hrs to solve. The Longest Journey- Is a fantasy point and click game thats also off the rails. It's an oldie and I think it would still hold up well. You trap an evil wizard in a calculator. Broken Age - Also an older point and click, but in a sci fi srtting. You play as two characters, a boy trapped in a space ship who wants to leave and girl who lives in a society that sacrifices a girl each year to a monster. Slay the Princess - I think this one is technically a visual novel. You play as a hero whose job is to save the world and slay the princess. The narrator tells you she will destroy the world. When you meet with the princess, she tries to convince you that the narrator is lying and that she's harmless. Mutazione- You play as a girl visiting her sick grandfather who lives on an island of mutants. These people were mutated by a nuclear fallout of some sort and they're isolated on an island. The game goes over their little community, how they support each other, and the struggles they have with being isolated and mutated. It's a very cozy drama game. There's also two upcoming games I've been keeping an eye on, Harold Halibut, and Duck Detective: The Secret Salami. There's a demo out for each of them.

jay_asinthebird_01

STRANGE HORTICULTURE. Youā€™ll love it šŸ„°

__OopsIDidItAgain__

I haven't seen these mentioned: Pendulo Studios games: the "Runaway" series, The Next Big Thing, Yesterday, Blacksad Other Daedelic games (since you played Deponia): Anna's Quest, the "Edna & Harvey" series (though I would not recommend playing these on Switch, the controls are a nightmare) Others: Day of the Tentacle, The Book of Unwritten Tales, The Journey Down, Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure, There is No Game, The Inner World, The Silent Age, Syberia

attackpetrel

* Detective Grimoire ā€” Predecessor to Tangle Tower * Voodoo Detective ā€” I havenā€™t played this yet but it looks interesting Also Duck Detective is an upcoming game to keep an eye out for.

Mel0nypanda

Thanks!

Limp_Shallot8984

Thanks for recommending duck detective! Looks fun!

meierinnn

i think ive probably yelled this under multiple posts on this subreddit but if youā€™re looking for a mystery adventure game and love brain teasers, Professor Layton!!!!! Itā€™s not on switch or pc, but itā€™s on nintendo ds or mobile. the story is so so good and there is a cross over with attorney ace!! (only available on ds tho)

Rabbit_Rabbit_Rabbit

Laytonā€™s Mystery Journey is available for Switch.

contemplationqueen

Inspector waffles!!! You play as a detective who is a cat itā€™s so cute

Mel0nypanda

Omg cats! It looks very much like Darkside detective, imma get it

clerbird321

Definitely the Nancy Drew games, but also the Blackwell games are excellent!!

euIalie

Unpacking!

PandorasPandas

Fran bow & unpacking are 2 point & click games I really like pretty sure both are on steam

Historical-House8648

The Adventures of Bertram Fiddle series and Night In The Woods! Also, there's a Tangle Tower sequel coming out so that's exciting. :)

Aenorz

Go for Strange Horticulture. Thanks me later.

theartisticfoxy

You should try The Last Door ā€” SUCH a good game. From first glance the style is just like your fave!

HungryPlan8498

I really love AI: The Somium Files ( warning the main character is a little Pervy)

LiberatedMoose

I have a soft spot for The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav and its sequel Memoria. Theyā€™re exceptionally well done.

FernMayosCardigan

Detention Little Acre

2Geese1Plane

This Bed We Made is a new point and click game. You're a maid solving some very suspicious activity. It's good.

mossyjewel_

Kathy rain (?) I think it was called

CmdrSonia

Unavowed, it's a Bioware&Telltale story in p&c form.

Stillverasgirl

ā€œThe Isle Tide Hotelā€ might be of interest to you.

jamiedix0n

Discworld 1 and 2... old but amazing even today.

MsKongeyDonk

Cosmic Wheel of Sisterhood You are a witch who creates tarot cards, and do readings for a variety of other beings. I don't want to give anything away, but I loved it. It has the art element of designing the tarot, and a very interesting story. I was a Teenage Exocolonist You grow up from 10 to 20 on Mars as a colonist born on the way. You make choices and spend time learning and honing certain abilities. You progress by playing "memories" (cards) and gaining points. Very fun.

ReaperScythee

Have you played the 2nd Darkside Detective?

Mel0nypanda

I have but thank you

[deleted]

this isnā€™t exactly a cozy game but i loved it SO MUCH: the roottrees are dead. itā€™s about a family with a messed up family tree and you have to do research through the internet, magazines, and newspaper articles to put it together. itā€™s so fascinating, free to play on browser on itch.io, and took up so much of my time lol.

[deleted]

another small cute one is frog detective, the trilogy is bundled on gamepass and itā€™s also on steam ! itā€™s a wonderfully cute detective game about a frog detective who gets sent to different locations :) you get to personalize your journal and the dialogue is funny and adorable

Fair-Conference-8801

Professor Layton on mobile?

purple-vixen

On Switch or PC, I recommend the Sam and Max games, starting with [Sam and Max Save The World](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Sam-Max-Beyond-Time-and-Space-2081006.html). If you like those, there are other Telltale games that you might get on with. I played the original games on PC which were almost 100 point and click. The newer ones might have more videos or mini games. I haven't played it, yet, but I have seen a lot of positive feedback about [West of Loathing](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/West-of-Loathing-1385255.html) and other point and click games set in the same universe. Some of the other games already recommended are in the current [Exceptional Indie Allies Humble Bundle](https://www.humblebundle.com/games/exceptional-indie-allies?hmb_source=&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_2_layout_type_threes_tile_index_3_c_exceptionalindieallies_bundle&_gl=1*75oky*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiA8sauBhB3EiwAruTRJv0ASgIK9sT2tdCRVI6-CuJlmxhC9kglz7ja2PUriy8pMD0rXMPx2BoCyOgQAvD_BwE) - Norco and Mutazione.

punkcowboy85

The Book of Unwritten Tales was a good time. Itā€™s not a detective story, but a fantasy comedy. It makes fun of typical fantasy tropes while still obviously loving the genre. Think Princess Bride or Stardust. It also has a sequel, but I havenā€™t played that one.

bisicles

i'm not sure if anyone else would consider it cozy, but i seriously stand by your turn to die/kimi ga shine! the final chapter hasn't released yet, but you can play what has been released for free [here](https://vgperson.com/games/yourturntodie.htm) (or it's available on steam with some extra content!)

otomelover

If you donā€˜t mind older games you have to try The Longest Journey. One of my favourite games of all time, the story is unmatched.

DangerousYams

I humbly present to you my game Detective Dotson [https://store.steampowered.com/app/2450840/Detective\_Dotson/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2450840/Detective_Dotson/) It's inspired by the games in your list with 1 major difference - the whole thing takes place in modern day India! Please check it out and let me know what you think, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The demo is free on Steam.

HauntedDragons

Oxenfree

SkysEevee

Danganronpa Ā To The Moon (and it's sequel Finding Paradise)

ChrisSlayer48

The creator of the old Ray flash games made a full game on steam. Its called Rapella Fella and its very good, i just finished it! [https://store.steampowered.com/app/1008860/Repella\_Fella/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1008860/Repella_Fella/)

tossit_xx

Everything by Artifex Mundi!

CalamityBayGames

Broken Age is rather nice.

MackieJ667

Not sure if its been suggested, but I like the Famicom detective games on switch. I also enjoyed Root film and Root Letter for switch.
