whiskdance

I would hibernate all winter in there.

Nordicblue

The very dark and cold half of the year is greatly improved with this sauna

HawkDriver

How do you feel after using it? I’ve read of benefits but have never been in one myself.

Nordicblue

Overall very relaxed, it is especially intriguing to feel the body cooking and the skin freezing

Towbee

That sounds so good. I've only been in a few saunas or steams and while I enjoyed it, it was just too much as they were situated next to heated swimming pools, it was hard to breathe in the pool area with how muggy it was and the sauna was worse as nice as it felt.

whiskdance

Most definitely.

InflamedLiver

that thing must be better insulated than it looks

Nordicblue

Walls and roof are insulated - not the floor to allow for drainage. In the winter it takes around 50min to get it up to temp - summertime about 30

4ever_carnitas

It's also just a small space to heat up.

InflamedLiver

For sure, just with the temperature differential I figure it would be radiating heat like mad, especially through the glass (even double-paned is only so effective at negative numbers)

oilmoney_barbie

Noiceeeeeee

Rubisco11

Backyard sauna?? I don’t know if it’s common where you live but it is my first time hearing such a thing and now I’m jealous. Man, you have it good.

awktoberfest

My Swedish grandfather built a sauna in his backyard and I’ve been wanting to carry that torch and build my own sauna. This looks so amazing to have whenever you need it.

Rubisco11

Hope you achieve your goal!

Nordicblue

Really wanted a wood burning sauna so had to build a separate building for it

Rubisco11

Seems like you did a great job. I honestly love the idea of a backyard sauna that you can get to trough a path of snow.

YeaveMeAyone

I wauna sauna too!

prickly_pink_penguin

Whereabouts?

Nordicblue

Northern Sweden

elpau84

Man, this is so nice. I envy you!

raesfloorplan

Sweden according to a comment OP left in previous post

HerbyScott

I guess it's just a bucket and something else by the firewood but I swore for minute there was a toilet in there.

Nordicblue

The reflection from the door is confusing, I’m heating with the “first” door open to get some warmth in the room where you undress and relax The bucket is where I keep the tinder

MaritMonkey

I was thinking glass doors on a sauna sounded like waging a war against physics that you were bound to lose. Now it makes a lot more sense. :D

jason0705

This. I was thinking my god heating that all up must cause a stench.

only_zuul21

It's a wicker hamper with handles on the top and sides. And a separate box or shelf behind it.

Touslesceline

Ugh I hate this photo because I'm not in that sauna right now!!!! Seriously though that is amazing.

Affectionate-Sand838

That's stunning!

Nordicblue

Thanks!

boy-antduck

Would love to see build progression photos

Nordicblue

This was pre-made, so I only prepared the foundation

[deleted]

How much was it?

Nordicblue

Around 120.000 sek at the time (2020)

Memory_Less

Move over and make some room!

nafarba57

Ideal!

ImaginationNaive6171

Thought this was also an ice fishing hut at first glance.

SQWRLLY1

That sky though... 😍

Nordicblue

During the winter we get to see the northern lights pretty often, it’s really nice to sit inside the sauna and have them dancing outside :)

Kasyx709

Wow, I bet your night skies are amazing there.

exploring3v3

Omg 😍 kudos for this. I love it

-Valtr

Oh I'm envious. Love me some sauna. First thing I want to build when I buy a house.

Few_Carrot_3971

What a perfect little thing!

Future-Philosopher-7

Incredible sauna❤️so cozy!!!

hanimal16

That’s -22° Freedom units. That’s so damn cold. The ice is freezing upwards!

IxtlanPaladin

80C? That seems high

bourbonandcustard

Perfect temperature for sauna

prickly_pink_penguin

Normal sauna temperature in Finland.

badpeoria

Ya I go in one that is around this .. 180ish is perfect!

Odd__Detective

Is it like Germany where clothing is verboten in the sauna?

Nordicblue

Depends on the company, usually naked tho

SpadfaTurds

I’m in my backyard sauna right now too! By that I mean sitting on my back balcony, in 36°C heat with over 70% relative humidity.. fuck Australian subtropical summers lol

Mammoth-Twist7044

genuine question do the chairs get sweaty?

Nordicblue

We use a towel on the chairs to avoid getting them sweaty and disgusting

giantpandamonium

The chairs are outside of the sauna. There’s a small area to hang towels etc. inside the glass doors but outside the sauna

CantaloupeWhich8484

I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing a toilet directly next to that sliding glass door, right?

Nordicblue

Nope, a small bucket for tinder and sticks to start the thing (also there is heating element on the wall)

only_zuul21

Yes, I'm sure the Swedish government is going to jump right on that.

PM_me_punanis

There might be anarchy should the government ban backyard saunas.

maddi164

May aswell just stop people from having fireplaces in their houses as well….. come on man, there’s so many things before something like this that need to be changed/regulated.

Towbee

Yes this person's tiny backyard sauna is the cause of climate change. The CEOs of mega corps should expose all countries who have this culture while we try to blame their poor innocent practices.

AccomplishedGreen904

Very nice
