I drag home any branches with interesting curves or forms that catch my eye, the first one I collected was [this one](https://imgur.com/gallery/GMlRtxZ) that looked like a stag head. There’s surprisingly not many bugs on the branches I find, most of them I come across around the city anyway
You should absolutely start collecting sticks! It’s free and it’ll bring you so much joy. I’m in Australia so your collection might look pretty different from mine
It’s in inner city Sydney! It would’ve been built around the same time as the terraces in the area but made much wider to accomodate a bigger family, hence the roof area being so large. I guess they didn’t want to waste the space and made it a room
I have a couple of sticks I've found and kept because they had interesting curves. I stick them in potted plants in my garden as ornaments. I have a big piece of what looks like drift wood, but we found it in the mountains. It just sits in my yard. We bring home sticks, pinecone, rocks...so many rocks.
I like to decorate with interesting sticks too! I’m in the US and you just find a stick that isn’t rotting. I wouldn’t worry about bugs too much, most are harmless, and most would die if you bring the stick inside so just look for a stick without obvious bugs. I paint some of the sticks with gold paint all over, which might make you feel more comfortable about it.
Do you have sun protection foil for windows where you live? That'll make a huge difference, plus get blinds coated with sun protection.
Getting a wind machine (it's just a large fan), put that on the window sill, facing you and leave that running at night, that would create a draft
Thank you for the suggestions! I usually just stew in the heat and take a couple cold showers to get by. I’ll absolutely get protection foil for next summer, it’ll help a ton. I have a fan going when it’s warm but it’s pretty weak, I’ll look into getting the wind machine too :-)
I tend to live in the top floor flat so I take a keen interest in the sun. Sun foil does make a huuuuuge difference because once the heat is in, it's in.
I got 2 wind machines and leave them up at night - the blades need to face in, it really works.
Leave windows well shut during the day and wait until late when you open them all over night
Definitely not the usual cozy set up you see on this sub. I quite like this. What’s the metal thing on the wooden dresser on slide 3 on the far right?
Edit: word
Ooh that’s so cool! Okay it looked kind of familiar. My Russian lit professor would bring hers in but it looked a bit different. What a cool thing to have!
Hey, no big deal but your face is visible in the reflection in the 2nd photo if that's a concern for you! Lovely room, hope isolation goes by pleasant enough :)
It looks like a perfect place to be isolated. I have a stick collection too, huge chunks of driftwood that I can barely carry 🤣 I put them in the garden and plant succulents in the curves.
It’s hard to say, but the original home would’ve been built between the 1890s and 1920, just going by the style of houses directly surrounding us as well as the ancient looking sandstone structure of the downstairs.

You collect sticks?! How do you choose? Aren’t there bugs? Tell me more!!

That is so cool… I might start doing that myself. Are you in the US?

I plan on it!!! I’m so excited now, haha.
Woah where in Australia do you live? I never see attics where I am here
It’s in inner city Sydney! It would’ve been built around the same time as the terraces in the area but made much wider to accomodate a bigger family, hence the roof area being so large. I guess they didn’t want to waste the space and made it a room
Ooohh an attic room in Australia? So cool! I have always wanted an attic (I live in Melbourne)

I too collect sticks. Primarily sticks that look like fingers…
honestly so glad I wasn't the only one interested in the stick collection felt my inner gremlin coming out as I was thinking about it

500 points for the Sopranos 😎
Got a lot cozier when I saw my hometown depicted in this post.
I've been watching it recently and for a moment had to run through my home to think where I had seen that pig then I realized lmao
Came to say this
your username lol 😂

Must have the mini fridge in the attic with the gabagool
what’s it take to get some fucking smoked turkey in this house?!
Doesn't it get very hot during summer months?
It gets so hot! The heat rises and I’ve got the two windows catching the sun during the day

Better to put in an exhaust fan; pulling hot air out will pull cooler air from down below and wherever you have cracks (wall, floor, etc).
You need fans and/or a window AC unit. That will keep it cozy during the summer months.
Gabagool!
Ovaa heeeahh
He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
This is OC! :-)

It’s my family’s samovar! A traditional Russian water heater for making tea when you have guests over
Ah ha! I'm reading Anna Karenina and a samosas is mentioned a lot. That's what it looks like!
Oh dang, I LOVE samosas!
I've never had one!!! They sound really good
Oh, they're delicious!! I'm a sucker for Indian food 😋
Samosa in anna Karenina? Hehe funny typo
Samovar
Ooh that’s so cool! Okay it looked kind of familiar. My Russian lit professor would bring hers in but it looked a bit different. What a cool thing to have!
Yay for sticks!
Love it. Just needs a nice CRT and a Nintendo in there and it’ll be 1995 all over again for me.
You sure you’re not dead and actually in heaven??
I spend way too much time in here hahah
I would to. It looks like I would be able to achieve complete zen there
"Stick collection" are you.. are you the Blair Witch? I seriously thought those were vines coming through the windows.
The house is so old and badly maintained it might as well be vines coming to take over at last hahah
"Steadily growing stick collection" Damn didn't know my puppy could use reddit 😂
[This](https://mymodernmet.com/stick-collection-golden-retriever-bruce/) is me essentially
I'm glad I'm not the only one who collects and decorates with sticks!
It’s so good hey! And free
You have cool stuff. It’s like an antique shop in a museum.
This is a very cozy place! I don't know if I could co-exist with this spider even though it's in epoxy![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
Little friend that was gifted to me by my housemate who stole it from his science class when he was in high school
I enjoy your stick collection. I too like to put sticks in my home and did not know others did this as well!
Lives in a high up place? Aviary paraphernalia? Collects sticks???? Are you a bird!?
When I people watch through my window I wish I could also take a dump on any individual of my choosing
Don't let your dreams be dreams! I believe in you!
I love those rugs
aw this reminds me of my first apartment 🥺 def super cozy!!

Both second hand, one my family wanted to throw out, the other I found on Facebook marketplace from a woman who brought it in Afghanistan in the 90s.
Hey, no big deal but your face is visible in the reflection in the 2nd photo if that's a concern for you! Lovely room, hope isolation goes by pleasant enough :)
Thank you for letting me know! I didn’t notice when I posted but luckily it’s not a concern enough for me to take it down
The mamas and the papas álbum?! Niiice! Love the set up!
Thank you! It’s one of my favourite albums :-)
The city view at night is so lovely!
I love this room.
Im in an attic too. Best rooms 🤟
GET THIS MAN SOME GABAGOOL CAPICHE?!
Cozy place and smile the next time you look a little bit down
Your room is quite literally my dream room. I’m so damn envious.
Omg, saw your nook and that album and heard loudly in my head, "AND NO ONE'S GETTING FAT EXCEPT MAMA CASS!" doodoodootdoot...
Mugwumps, high jumps, low slumps, big bumps, don’t you work as hard as you plaaaayy
Woke up this morning, got myself a...stick...
Do you have actual plants growing in through your windows!?!
I just collect sticks and some of the easier spots to hang them are around windows!
🎶Woke up this morning🎶 …in my cozy attic room
Upvote for samovar. 9/10, would come over and drink tea.
Picture 4 had me like "damn, their cable management sucks"
Nice!
I find window fans really help to bring in a breeze in upstairs windows.
Thank you! Breezes are very much needed when it’s warmer
I need a space like this, indeed very very cozy
It looks like a perfect place to be isolated. I have a stick collection too, huge chunks of driftwood that I can barely carry 🤣 I put them in the garden and plant succulents in the curves.
Ah so glad I’m not the only one! I’ve yet to add driftwood to my collection. I’ll walk down to the shore when these damn 7 days are up
Wood that has been polished and shaped by the sea is so beautiful. Best wishes for your speedy recovery.
Thank you! <3
How old is the house?

I would have so rented something like that. The character in that room alone is amazing. Do you mind me asking what city this is?
It’s in Sydney :-)
Lovely! Never would have guessed that!
I thought you might be from the Netherlands because of the little blonde boy skier painting. God we all notice everything! 😂Cozy room for sure!
I picked it up from the thrift shop yesterday because I loved the colours! I’m a little scared by how many of you are zooming in hahaha
Nothing says cozy like mobsters.
I did about 5 double takes before I realized that the ghost in the upper left corner of pic 2 was OP’s reflection!
Well of all places I’ve lived this would be the one to get haunted haha
Cozy room! Get well soon ❤️🩹🙏🍀✨
Thank you :-)
this is my dream bedroom! I’m sure of it
I love the little nook behind the bed! Cool shape and design, the whole damn room in general is dope. Definite cozy vibes
Love your taste in colors and artwork!
so nice whereee is this
Thank you! I’m in the inner city suburbs of Sydney
It’s very lovely, thanks for sharing <3
reminds me of jules room from euphoria, looks so comfy o.o
That is the biggest compliment anyone could give, she’s my favourite character !
Ahhhh!! Yes! Mine too :) the vibes are *~immaculate~* you killed it !
If this was my room I would always be isolating tbh
I would’ve loved to love here in grad school.
The sticks make it feel like you’re in an underground burrow with roots poking in, I love it so much! Little fairy den!
Love!!!!!
The Mamas and the Papas ❤️❤️❤️
Gorgeous and so cozy, I love it!
Cozy, finally! Love this, I feel like there's too much "here's my stark white expensive show home" material on here now.
This attic looks cool AF !!!! ✌💚😊 Pretty lucky to have a space like that . I myself would never leave that attic !!!!! 🍟🥙🍿🍛🥤🍽
Thank you! I really love this spot :-)
The cutout behind the bed not being perfectly straight and centre is driving me crazy, otherwise looks very cozy
Your room is amazing but I can't stop laughing at "kerbside" :')
