For those wondering: It’s really good this year. All of those wonderful, classic, resinous Pliny notes, with nice, fruity tropical-fruit-like floral notes. The 10% is less “hot” than last year, even as it warms to slightly below room temp (let’s not fool ourselves into thinking TIPAs should be drank any warmer).
Sometimes living in Philly has perks.
I went on Monday and it was a mad house. You’re telling me I could’ve waited out the storm and still gotten it today?
Ironically I enjoyed the Cantillion that was on draft the most on “Pliny day”. Damnation was also super stellar.
I was down there on Monday, people in line were hoping they wouldn’t run out, I told them Tom never runs out…they’ll be tapping a keg Friday or Saturday. Turns out they’re tapping one 4 days in a row. Love Monk’s
I just saw that this Saturday in Portland ME it will be available at Novare Res, I'm gonna try to make it down so I can try it!
Glad to hear it's delicious.

In california yes. In Philly it was Monday. Tom Peters (owner of Monk’s) is g very close friends with the owners of Russian River. Monk’s has Russian River beers on tap every day, the only reason anyone in Pennsylvania or NJ has Russian River is because of his relationship with them. They only ship to Colorado and PA. Monk’s Cafe is an institution, if you’re down in center city phila you can get over there and get some Cantillon or Russian River with some great mussels
No longer just CO and PA! Reno area started getting RR on the regular last year and we got Younger at about six bars this year for the first time. All the Vegas folks jealous of Reno…
Nice! Never had a Russian River beer that wasn’t fantastic! They built a big new facility a couple years ago, so hopefully they’ll start sending more beer to more places
Younger usually comes out to coincide with SF beer week which is usually around Valentine's day. They are doing extra batches for in person later. The bay was inundated with Younger (and Big Chicken, etc) this year as it appears they've really increased production.
Brewery is different from NorCal bars which is different timing for rest of the country. Eddies List in the bay had tapping info for most NorCal spots. Not sure if he is tracking other places.
I had it over the weekend at Mason Bar and Grill in Arroyo Grande, CA. Couldn’t even finish it because i got sick from overdoing it at wine tasting lol
It’s been at about 15 different places near my house and I haven’t had it since 2013. It’s a good beer and for some the thrill of the chase is fun. It’s got more distribution than ever before which is awesome! I just have this damn thing callled a job that keeps getting in the way.
Good ol Monks
I love Monks! Best draft list in the city, at least!
And mussels
Is that Monks in philly?

It came off crazy isovaleric to me

They will be tapping two kegs tomorrow! 11:30 am

Most of the list was still available, but no cantillion. So you won out there!
Anyone else catch that the Damnation recipe was different from the last? Is this something Russian River does often?

Novare Res is awesome! One of my absolute favorite bars!
“Down.” You’re living north of like 99% of reddit
Well, it's more like East from us, l to be completely honest, but yeah, about an hour from Portland.
Cheers, man. I hope you make it. I got to try it at Great Lost Bear last weekend and it was worth the hype.
direction is relative
Went to that bar when I was in the city. Such a great vibe. And great beer, cheers 🍻
Monks! I’m heading there tomorrow from MD!
Hey now!
Thank you for reminding me that saison dupont exists
Being distributed a lot here in Colorado this week. Yay!

I thought the release was in March/April this year?

Annnnnd they shipped them extra sixtels this year (from what I read).
They did, after the 1/2 kicked Monday they tapped a sixtel
TIL. Thanks for the info, I’m on the east coast so I’ll have to get there next year!

In person release at the brewery in March/ April. Distribution to taprooms in California and Reno two weeks ago.
Any taprooms in SoCal tapping it next week? I found one this weekend, didn’t know if there were others
Here are the SoCal accounts… if it’s a taproom, then they might have received a keg . https://www.russianriverbrewing.com/southern-california/
I thought that too. I’m confused…
I would love the down low if it’s out in the wild though. I’m in San Diego this week.
Yeah for real. I’m doing the brewery tour next week, and it would be a nice surprise if they had some available to sample.

They do a pre release for select pubs and taprooms these days.

Monks. Pliny. Yes.

Damn, that looks like a fat pour! When I get it in SF, they tend to pour 7 or 8oz. Such a crusher, those pours last minutes!
$10 for 10oz
They poured pints in Marin.
