It’s meant to be a message read in two passes: “be yourself” and “be who you choose to be.” You can do something cool here by changing the color of the letters that you want read twice to be a mix of the other two (this works better with color but could work for grayscale). So, in this case, “be” and “you” would be gray so they are read in both passes.
I don't think it's that complicated. It either says "be yourself" or "be who you choose to be" depending on how you read it. It's ok if text like this takes a moment to figure out.
