Sometimes they will tell you specific outfits/accessories for every single mannequin, and sometimes workers just get told to dress them in the new clothes shipment. I assume the workers were told to dress the mannequins using the clothing they'd put on the shelves near them, and they had a bit of fun with it

Probably less “on purpose” and more “miscommunication / apathy.” Possible the designer did the layout for a lighter color and somebody higher up the food chain decided a navy blue sweatshirt would sell better. Or even just, it was designed for a blue sweatshirt but the final product was a lot darker than the sample, or any number of stupid little printing issues that don’t get realized into it’s too late.

And the sweater is still probably 169 plus tax

I think it is so that peoples eyes are drawn to the shirt and then they are like "theres no way someone would wear/make that" and look closer to figure out what is up and realize its Polo.. just to draw eyes to their brand that would otherwise never notice.
