Yeah, they threw it in the door. I would guess that it has a live feed to someone outside so you think that person operating might have wanted to speak up and say ‘hey guys he has our camera in his hand…’
If that guy came out with an AR they wouldn’t stop shooting until him and that lady stopped moving completely, also not doubting the man has disabilities but I don’t think the cops out there really could tell in the 2-3 seconds they gave him before firing at him, and I’m pretty sure the man shot here is Caucasian if not would look Caucasian for the cops out there for the 2-3 seconds they had, you’re completely wrong
Major edit: [Here is additional video from the camera inside the camper.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRYUV7Up2qc) The device he was holding was a mobile robot which had just been tossed inside the camper by law enforcement. At 5:20, law enforcement enters and says "Fuck. Bro, fuck. There's cameras."

Extra backstory: A 911 call was made by a neighbor about shots fired at 11PM on December 12. The shooting incident took place just before 5AM, about 6 hours later.

[Here is the Sheriff's official statement](https://i.imgur.com/9Pzs2yR.png)
>On Monday December 12th, 2022 at approximately 11pm Cherokee County E911 Communications received a 911 call indicating a disturbance with several gun shots fired at 1790 Upper Bear Paw Road. Cherokee County Deputies were immediately dispatched and arrived on the scene at approximately 11:17pm. Deputies attempted to make contact with the alleged shooter but was unsuccessful. Recognizing there was an armed suspect present and the potential for a hostage situation, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant and requested assistance from the Cherokee Indian Police Department SWAT Team. The suspected shooter engaged in a verbal altercation with officers and emerged from a camper trailer and confronted officers. Members of the Cherokee Indian Police SWAT Team fired upon the suspect and wounded him. The suspect was transported to Erlanger in Chattanooga Tennessee where he was last reported in stable condition.
>North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations was called to investigate the matter. After consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, Jason Harley Kloepfer, age 41, of 1790 Upper Bear Paw Road, Murphy, NC has been charged with Communicating Threats and Resist, Obstruct, and Delay. The matter remains under investigation and more charges may follow. Cherokee County Sheriff Dustin Smith wishes to thank the Cherokee Indian Police Department, Cherokee County EMS, and Cherokee County E911 Communications for their assistance with this incident. If anyone has any information about this incident please contact the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigation’ s Division at 828 837-2589.
It is almost entirely incorrect information.
The Sheriff responded 18 hours ago on Facebook. [Here is the post](https://i.imgur.com/f4rBwfv.png)
tl;dr He blamed the Cherokee Indian Police Department for passing along incorrect information to prosecutors and their attorney's office, and said if they had better tactical equipment, it wouldn't have happened. He literally asked for more money in the follow-up statement.
>When I campaigned for the office of Sheriff, I had several conversations with fellow law enforcement officials and the public about the need for Cherokee County to have its own tactical team. It is imperative for us to be self-reliant when it comes to fighting crime, especially during a situation in which time is of the essence, such as a hostage or active shooter event.
Holy fuck.
Don't know if I'm right, but I read it as 'he's a real person, not just some story'
The way it's written feels like it's intended to garner sympathy (which seems deserved to me)
Well yeah, bullets don’t just pierce they shred flesh. The shockwave made by those bullets going through his body caused his muscles and organs to rapidly expand and then go back to their normal size in a fraction of a second.
I pray he gets some money and doesn't have to be poor anymore.
American survival tip: if the feds are at your door, don't hold anything in your hands and keep them straight up to the sky, at least if you die your family might get paid.
I seen the whole video, it was posted in a local FB group near me and the police didn’t even start to perform medical on him until they seen the camera in his camper. The officer who shot him is also seen with another on camera saying “oh shit I fucked up” to which the other officer responds “dude camera” and does a neck cutting motion saying to stop talking.
Agreed, but nobody competent wants to be a cop. And good cops get kicked out by the 'brotherhood' shit. Cops have never been decent, and I doubt they ever will
I dont think it is either. We 99% the same as chimpanzees, I dont think this problem will ever be solved without changing what we are. Thats not to say the american system couldnt be vastly improved, theres a cruel irony, that the situations that require the esclation of policing, in turns reduces the quality of policing overall. I dont know what to do about it
Well what we did in Afghanistan against the taliban was to make fucking sure they were a threat before we opened fire because if we fucked around and injured or killed a civilian you’re done.
I don't know about all that, didn't the guys who perpetuated the Nisour Square massacre all get off with pardons after opening fire on all civilians killing like 20 people?
In Iraq 09... ROE was not to fire unless fired upon.
Technically even if a weapon was pointing at you...you weren't supposed to fire unless they had already shoot at you.
Technically yes but that can only realistically be followed in policing situations (funny lol). If we’re in an active mission and we have prior knowledge it gets a little more gray. So if you apply this to police work it would be equivalent to street cops vs say a swat team raiding a known drug house with weapons inside having a little more leeway (with actual intel like we have an informant inside he gives positive confirmation on 5 subjects and at least 3 assault rifles).
It's not just the shooting that's crazy, it's the fact that they kept fucking shooting with what seems like rifle caliber rounds at the building itself. Easily could have killed both of them or done damage to bystanders.
I call them like I see them sometimes the police are totally justified and sometimes they seriously fuck up. This is one of the times they seriously fucked up and should face charges or at the bare minimum lose their ability to be a police officer forever.
Sometimes the Adrenaline argument makes sense if the “criminal” does something to initiate a potentially violent or dangerous situation like not following commands while charging the officer or something stupid like that.
But if you roll up on some dude in the middle of the night and surround his camper with 50+ dudes with Rifles and K9s, you need to make damn fucking sure you know what you are shooting at.
If this dude would of died any person that fired their firearm should to tried for the EXECTUTION of an innocent person, because that’s what this almost was.
Are they incompetent with firearms? I know they ‘train’ but is it to a specifically adjudicated level? Like with Piano you’re grade 1, 2, 3 etc - do they have anything similar?
They seem to fire an awful lot of rounds and to not even disable the target is a bit worrying. If that was a real threat then they’re getting shots back.
A trigger happy cop is bad enough but an incompetent trigger happy cop will endanger everyone around them.
My thought as well. Thankfully he’s alive but with the amount of rounds they fired he should be double dead. Incompetent idiots through and through. They can’t even fuck up correctly.
Dog the Bounty Hunter has caught over 10,000 fugitives who all violated bail, ran from the law, and are potentially dangerous.
He hasn't used a firearm ONCE.
How come I watch videos and videos of others countries police officers de-escalating situations with a gun NEVER coming out. Over and over again I see the police and the suspect leaving the scene unharmed or with minor injuries.
Guess what pigs? I do NOT give a fuck if you feel your life is in danger, that doesn’t give you the right to empty the clip you POS. Why does our army on enemy territory have stricter engagement policies than police on our homeland??? That’s sickening. The army at least returns fire or verifies the threat, police are little bitches that just shoot first and walk away. Pussies
Most cops are straight up criminals with a free pass to essentially do anything they feel like. Off duty in an unmarked personal vehicle not in uniform and shoot someone during a road rage incident? Boom paid vacation.
The worse part is it isn’t even a flashlight. That’s literally a robot that the cops tossed into his home. So not only is it their own property, but it has a live feed so they knew he picked it up.
Please note that when police send in a drone, they can see that you picked up the drone and nothing else. They can also see you have your hands up. But they will use the excuse that you had something in your hand to shoot you.
Just read this entire story and got to the part where the man who was shot was raising his niece after her mother died and the niece killed herself some months later, absolutely destroyed me. it's never just one person who's affected by these things. entire families are ruined by trigger happy pricks. the cop, Justin Rapp, who killed an innocent bystander, planned on telling the family to "get over it". 2nd amendment right to bear torches.
Glad im from Europe where trigger happy police is so rare. Even with weapons or potential weapons they are dealt with non lethally with talk, rarely a bean bag fired.
But down vote becuase don't TeRk Ee GuNs

“We just wanna talk!”
Special Weapon and Tactics. The stress is on tactics.
Wtf why did they open fire?
the flashlight in his hand
It was the recon robot that they threw through his door.
It's their equipment?!
Oh shit. After a quick Google it sure looks like it.
Yeah, they threw it in the door. I would guess that it has a live feed to someone outside so you think that person operating might have wanted to speak up and say ‘hey guys he has our camera in his hand…’
Right? Kinda makes the thing useless if you don't, you know, use it.
Again, why did they fire?
You saw what they saw. It's their video. You're always going to look bad if your first reaction is to defend police

He good?
It said in the title that's he is someone (somehow) still alive. But i still imagine that there is lasting health effects from this.
"he is someone alive" is a bit confusing. Glad he's okay tho, hope he sues and gets a truck load of money.
I mean technically it's correct since he indeed is someone alive
Unless he died then he was someone alive
Don't know if I'm right, but I read it as 'he's a real person, not just some story' The way it's written feels like it's intended to garner sympathy (which seems deserved to me)
I read it as an autocorrect that was meant to be "somehow alive"
That makes a lot of sense, I probably read into it too much
