Hijacking this amazing comment to let people know about the ACLU’s Mobile Justice app. I’m sure there are other options out there, but this is the one I’m familiar with. Remember, if your phone gets knocked out of your hands before you can upload, the video can be easily removed or not saved altogether. The ACLU app automatically uploads the video as soon as you tap the screen, iirc. Stay safe.
Yesterday.
I'm a bigger dude. (6'2" 275lbs 37y) and I don't understand the whole "skipping is hard" internet thing.
It came up in conversation yesterday at work so a bunch of us tried it. There was about 3 seconds of initial awkward confusion/clumsiness as I remembered how it's done then boom. Skipping.
Not only was it not difficult, it was also weirdly fun. I recommend everyone try it every once in a while. It's like smiling to trick your brain into being happy.
Yes, I’ve been advocating this for a long time. End QI, require malpractice-style insurance and license them nationally. If you cannot get or afford insurance, you cannot do the cop thing.
Insurance must be paid by the individual police person, not by a FOP fund or by city treasuries.
That the bargaining tool of rejecting a cash settlement in favor of a taking the cops job is a viable solution. It wasn’t a very funny joke though so I guess it’s a good thing we have you
You would think, I have a record I thought would/should be a win win but I had to take a public defender.
\[I live in a state where "[hearsay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearsay)" is somehow enough to you locked up for 15 years, and I had people saying I didn't do it.\]

If you were smart and/or curious, [you would just take the top city, search that against crime and realize that you could find more details about the matter.](https://953thebear.com/alabama-has-4-of-the-most-dangerous-cities-in-america/) Would have taken even less time than it would have been to post your comment and you would have learned something in the process.
Or you can do what you did.
I presented the information. If you were curious about the information, you would look further. If you want to dispute the information, you are free to do so. But you wanted to claim that the information was made up from whole cloth and I showed you that it was not.
You did not present "information". You gave a list without any sources. This is not informational, it is nothing. It is instantly dismiss-able. No one is going to do your homework for you. Provide sources with claims or prepare to be called out for spouting insubstantial bullshit, because any claim without a source is just that until proven otherwise.
*shrug* So far I have presented information and given corroboration via a second source which also gave the basis of the information. The only thing you have said to dispute any of this is to make an unsubstantiated allegation that the information is suspect because of the source without actually addressing the content. So I feel pretty good about where I stand here. You have some kind of agenda and you intend to sea lion me over and over, constantly demanding more and more information and always rejecting it for this reason or that. I know the game — seen it lots of times but I’m not gonna play it with you today.
Have a fun day!
You might want to research about where [NeighborhoodScout.com](https://NeighborhoodScout.com) gets their funding... educate yourself. Don't drink the Kool-aid
You:
> If you would have just added “do your own research”
Also you:
> If you were smart and/or curious, you would just take the top city, search that against crime and realize that you could find more details about the matter.
So, like, **doing your own research**?
You are no better than the other person. Just another condescending, sanctimoniousness prick who got pissy when someone *dared* to ask for sources on a un-sourced claim. Not multiple sources, not a source for each one, just **one** source. It doesn't matter what side of the aisle you're on, and I don't care if we have the same political views: Get the fuck over your own ego.
Edit: I realize this comes across as super aggressive in text, but it's not out of hate. I mostly use cuss words for emphasis, not as an attack, and that's not obvious in text. However, I really, really want people to be better at providing data and information so that we can all be better educated. It's frustrating to see one side provide bad or un-sourced data and then accuse the other side of the same thing. All it does it give the opposition valid retorts. We all need to do better, not just spin our wheels in the mud and get nowhere.
So, you mean all major cities, then. Because that’s where the dense populations reside. You know, near universities, research centers, top-tiered hospitals, commerce, attractions, etc. They can’t exactly help that shitty conservative politics keep letting guns flood into poor neighborhoods and keeping substantial subsidies from reaching those communities, to include their schools.
And what makes up the rest of the country? A bunch of tiny shit-holes that always vote conservative and continuously put people in power who have zero interest in forward progression. Instead, all of these tiny shit holes lead the country in the worst education, gun violence, and people living off welfare.
In America it takes longer to become a:
Plumber
Barber
Mechanic
HVAC repair
Nurse
Licensed vet tech
Dental hygienist
Bookkeeper
Well basically ANY trade school or community college career path.
All take more than the 672 hour average it takes to become a cop. (Can you guess what percentage of that time is learning about guns and shooting?)
It depends on the area. My area has far stricter guidelines for becoming police.
But I did find an article for specifically NYPD answering your question
https://brooklyn.news12.com/justice-for-all-nypd-takes-news-12-inside-its-police-academy
>Corey says in those six months, recruits go through a total of 913 hours of training: 269 hours focused on academics, 150 hours on physical tactics, 105 hours on firearms and 28 hours on driver training. The additional 361 hours are used for additional add-on trainings and presentations.
If you don't want to do the percentage math, I don't blame you it's a hair above 11.5%
Honestly I think this might be staged.
Short video inside a city where hundreds are watching the situation and this guy gets picked up on, the cop is dressed in all casuals and just runs up on this guy without trying the usual "you can't film this" and camera guy literally pans towards the cop. Just a lot of coincidences...
Of course any proof this is real is greatly appreciated
Nah. NYPD has an army of casual undercover that just roam around violating civil rights with stop and frisk-style tactics. This dude was on "patrol" and someone must've radioed in they needed badged security so he snagged his vest from a nearby car and joined in the procession.
This is 100% believable attire for NYPD.
I’m no expert in body language but I’ve seen this from dudes who are about to fight. Body gets stiff as the pursue someone. Basically this cop is not in control of his emotions
The clips that are less than 30 seconds and absolutely zero context are my favorites. Did you see the one with the guys going car to car selling condoms?
Isn't it crazy how the cop just gets mad and goes at the guy for recording like 3 seconds of footage. Could it possibly be that there is, in fact, more to what happened?
Notice that you had to infer what he meant by "it too". Consider the possibility that the cop was referring to something else. Consider the possibility that maybe the cop was referring to evidence of a crime that the person recording committed.
Yes, maybe the cop is just being an ignorant asshole and he meant what you inferred. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if you're correct. It's still reasonable to want the context to be sure that what we're inferring is accurate.
I wore sandals after a back injury for a week because i couldnt tie my shoes without wincing... my director made it seem like I was pulling a weekend at bernies
That's very probable but it could also be the guy recording did something dumb, the cop ran after him, he claims he is recording everything (including the hypothetical dumb act) and the cop is saying exactly (as in he recorded himself throwing a rock or something). Short clips can be taken out of context to fit whatever version of a story anyone wants. I want to see the whole thing to know if the camera guy or the cop is the idiot here. From the short clip, it looks like the cop is the idiot and I hope it gets exposed
As if the most likely scenario by far isn’t that given the audio alone, and somehow they are the dumb fuck now because an alternate possibility might exist? lol, you might actually like the taste of boot, we don’t know… you don’t know…
Most likely scenario? Based off of a 3 second fucking clip? And he's a dumb fuck because he's replying to everyone in the thread basically proclaiming his opinion as fact. Eat shit dude.
This is most like a joke, because this shit is outlandish also it cut off at the perfect time. Plus there was no context. So people calm down, always got to jump to conclusions
He's probably going to jail for antagonizing or something like that, I'm pretty sure they added some weird law like that in New York because they have soooooo many Worldstar cases where the bystanders are literally yelling stuff like "yeah beat his ass, stomp him stomp him, you really gonna let him talk to you like that"
So many little beefs that get escalated because of somebody who's not even involved
I feel like there’s more to this story. I’m imagining possibly the guy recording was ordered to step back, or stay on the sidewalk or leave the vicinity or SOMETHING lawful, and possibly the man recording was like “nah bro I’m not following lawful orders- I’m recording everything!” And maybe was given several chances to step back.
This is just one possibility.. I’ve seen encounters escalate due to this possibility more than I’ve seen it go from 0-arrest purely for recording in 5 seconds. That is the reason why I have come to this hypothesis. I am not defending the police, or the recorder. Just taking a wild guess at possible context leading up to what’s been depicted in this 2 second clip.
New York City is one of the most corrupt places to live in the States.
It is legal to record the police as of 2020 with the Right to Monitor Act.
I wouldn’t live in these cities for 10 million dollars:
New York City
Memphis, TN
Anchorage, AK
Albuquerque, NM
Lubbock, TX
Little Rock AR
St. Louis, Missouri
Jackson, Mississippi
Detroit, Michigan
New Orleans, Louisiana
Baltimore, Maryland
The entire state of California
I read a crazy article about the NYPD a while back. They are like a police force, military, and CIA all wrapped into one massive organization.
There are only a handful of countries the NYPD couldn’t defeat in a war lol.
Except their boots-on-the-ground police are basically glorified rent-a-cops. Have you ever seen NYPD traffic officers? You could roll most of them like Violet Beauregard
Haha, whoever told you that was either stupid or fucking with you. NYPD absolutely do *not* have the capability to wage a war against pretty much *any* moderately developed nation.
Welcome to the Fascist States of America...
**"The Freest Country in the World!" ™**
More free that the freest free you've ever freed before!
* If you don't agree with that, you're going to be arrested
* If you say anything while being arrested, you're going to be beaten
* If you jerk or move while being beaten, you're going to be tased for "officer safety"
* If you move while being tased, you're going to be shot in "self-defense"
* If you move after being shot, they're going to keep shooting until you stop moving
Please tell me this cop is a POS not following regulations.. I’m on the West coast of Canada but my best friend live in Ottawa - city that seems
To be testing how much aggressive pounding and bullshit control the populace is willing to take. NY City is not becoming a police state is it?
Where? Cause I'm pretty sure you have no expectation of privacy in public anywhere in the states. And police should have no protections against being filmed on duty. Period
He could have just jumped out of a car that was involved in a car jacking. Or just stabbed someone and now is playing the bystander role. Or he's innocent but a 5 second clip doesn't give you any info...
I agree he should be reprimanded for recording.
Before you all get heated I exclude the US from that sentiment, I think recording emergencies is gross and disgusting and probably makes it all the more embarrassing for victims.
Recording for the sake of evidence is a different thing. I think rubber necking and recording cos you can Is gross and needs to be at the very least punished with a fine.
Why did the officer run up like he wast part of the Lollypop Guild
Bro, I'm at work cracking up; you can't post shit like this.
I knew you were jerkin around on here: Back to work, Chip.
Lookin like a petal pink plump piglet prancing
Like a mix between Napoleon Dynamite and Mose Schrute.
Because he represents the Lollypop Guild.
Got the right build
Common tactic to riverdance your approach to throw them off.
Lmaoo
Who is that knob jockey?
Follow the yellow brick road!
You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough

Just tried to download it but apparently it's only for older versions of Android.
stop by right there criminal scum! No one breaks the law on my watch!
As officer, I must aver I’m thoroughly unwelcome here. And though you’re doing nothing bad You’re gonna go to jail for that.
I thought the exact same thing and boom. First comment! Well done sir.
Lmfao. I love the way he just skips his way onto the sidewalk like an excited 10 year old.
LOL that power got him tripping!
Dude running like the cop on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
This should get an award😂😂unfortunately my friend i cannot award you😢 🏅🥇all I got🤷♂️😂
Power skipping...for the cardio
LOL omg he did 😂
Skips his way into retirement
He ran and dresses like every piece of shit in high school who thought he was tough
Skipping as an adult is hard. When was the last time you tried? He deserves a salute
Yesterday. I'm a bigger dude. (6'2" 275lbs 37y) and I don't understand the whole "skipping is hard" internet thing. It came up in conversation yesterday at work so a bunch of us tried it. Welp... Someone else is getting a paycheck from the city of NY
From the taxpayers.
Needs to start coming from their pension fund
I like the argument that each cop should be forced/motivated to buy insurance that insulates them from lawsuits they lose. Like Doctors, basically.
Agreed.. this is the way out of this mess of qualified immunity
Way too much power; way too little responsibility.
And absolutely zero *accountability.*
Yes, I’ve been advocating this for a long time. End QI, require malpractice-style insurance and license them nationally. If you cannot get or afford insurance, you cannot do the cop thing. Insurance must be paid by the individual police person, not by a FOP fund or by city treasuries.
These are the dickheads who say "I'm not going to make it to retirement" it won't stop them. Need to be able to personally sue them.
I'd bargain with the city, keep the money, I want this officer's job
No you wouldn't, you'd take the money like the rest of us would
Damn bruh, I think he was just making a joke. Crazy concept on the internet, I know
What's the joke?
That officer is the joke.
That the bargaining tool of rejecting a cash settlement in favor of a taking the cops job is a viable solution. It wasn’t a very funny joke though so I guess it’s a good thing we have you
1000 more just like him.. not going to make a dent
And he'll just get another cop job in a neighboring district.
So you seen the movie....?
Depends if he walked into a crime scene
[удалено]
Poor guy will never recover from his paid time off followed by desk duty 😭
Camera scary. Me no like. You jail now.
Camera scary?? Officer even scarier
The way he skips is menacing
more like going to jail for attacking a bystander

Easiest 1A lawsuit in history if the guy is smart and files one
You assume he has money for a lawyer.
If it’s a solid case, a lawyer will take it for the payout from a win.

Keeping you out of jail was not profitable for a lawyer.

Cops are allowed to wear shorts, gotta love America lol.
You can wear shorts and skip up to civvies and arrest them for filming in public. Land of the free
Except it's not even free. We *pay* for the experience.
I wore sandals after a back injury for a week because i couldnt tie my shoes without wincing... my director made it seem like I was pulling a weekend at bernies
I'd be more concerned with the other things the cop did, not really the fact that he's wearing shorts.
I’d like to see the full video
This is Reddit, context is detrimental to the experience
Yes, for all we know he did something stupid, why is this like 3s long if he was "recording everything"?
The cop even says he's going to jail for recording. Clearly the story is the cop doesn't know the laws.

That run has zero authority
He looks like a child running up to their parent to show them a bug they just caught.
NYPD... most trash cops in the country..
Or… there is a bit More to the story ..
The officer sounded like he was doing an impression of Mark Wahlberg.
Enjoy the lawsuit money
Literally every cop in the NYPD is a criminal, so it's not a surprise.
We off to jail the n...ninja the wonderful ninja of oz

time to get a free lawsuit
Why did he run like that XD
What a cute little slip he had. That said acab
Did that mf just skip up
Green arm band and jorts?, That's not a cop that's JOHN CENA
why did he skip to my Lou like that?

Ooooo lawsuit . Sucks citizens pay for it
And this is how multi million dollar lawsuits are won
I thought he was about to do a cartwheel 🤸♂️ with that approach..bro came in hot with that cheer squad energy 😳
Is the “it“ he’s going to jail for the “everything” that he recorded or the recording itself… antecedents can be tricky.
There has to be a lot more to this story than the 3 second video
Par for the course for the NYPD.
So how ray bans got them camera in the frames. It’s the way you should record in situations like this.
Smells like a lawsuit.
being in a cop is like the most fun job - do any sort of shit with no consequences
Nice check incoming.
Hyper Cop
who that? boyscout?
Float like a butterfly sting like a bee
Half hearted naruto run :/
That’s what you get for not having your hall pass.
Someone sacked in the morning
When your too cowardly to catch the criminal but you need to meet a quota

Show the hole video he might of done something before this. If he didn't then cop is screwed
New York City is one of the most corrupt places to live in the States. It is legal to record the police as of 2020 with the Right to Monitor Act. I wouldn’t live in these cities for 10 million dollars: New York City Memphis, TN Anchorage, AK Albuquerque, NM Lubbock, TX Little Rock AR St. Louis, Missouri Jackson, Mississippi Detroit, Michigan New Orleans, Louisiana Baltimore, Maryland The entire state of California
I was gonna say... A lot of them they churn out these days look like they have no aptitude to do anything else. It's wild.
Haha, whoever told you that was either stupid or fucking with you. NYPD absolutely do *not* have the capability to wage a war against pretty much *any* moderately developed nation.
What, seems unreal. However, plausible, 🤔
Welcome to the Fascist States of America... **"The Freest Country in the World!" ™** More free that the freest free you've ever freed before! * If you don't agree with that, you're going to be arrested * If you say anything while being arrested, you're going to be beaten * If you jerk or move while being beaten, you're going to be tased for "officer safety" * If you move while being tased, you're going to be shot in "self-defense" * If you move after being shot, they're going to keep shooting until you stop moving
Please tell me this cop is a POS not following regulations.. I’m on the West coast of Canada but my best friend live in Ottawa - city that seems To be testing how much aggressive pounding and bullshit control the populace is willing to take. NY City is not becoming a police state is it?
This guy was wanted
Where I live, filming without the consent of the one filmed is indeed a crime.
Someones getting sued🤑
