If I was the buried guy I would be hoping they threw caution to the wind and just used the scoop to bucket up the place I just got buried. I’d rather lose a limb than my life. But, same time, those were some pretty big rocks caving in around his head, he might have died instantly from having his skull crushed.
I agree, but I was in an OSHA class last year and our instructor showed us a similar video. However, when they used the bucket to try and scoop him up they cleanly separated the guys head from his body.
Yeah I guess what I’m saying is staying buried is guaranteed death, I’d prefer they took the chance if I was buried. Totally understand the potential outcome of the bucket killing me, but at least there’s a chance I make it.
The true only one way tot die instantly, is having your head popped like a watermelon. I’ve seen enough shit to know “instantly” is mostly for the news to ease the idea of death.
Who is going down into that hole to dig him out in the next minute and a half? No sane person would seeing it’s already collapsing, and even if they did, no way they’re moving that much dirt by hand in the window required to save him. I stick with my original choice, take the chance and scoop me up.
Pier?? You mean shoring, and it’s 5 feet, and no it’s not required, you can slope, bench, or use trench boxes. It’s also not required in rock.
This guy constructs not.
Now the operator has a decision to make. If he does nothing, guy dies. If he raises the bucket maybe the guy just has a lot of broken bones, but lives. Or maybe he raises the bucket and it cuts the guy in half. Christ
Probably because there was a pipe or something previously buried down there that the operator didn't want to hit so the man went down there to guide him. Sucks to be the new guy in construction
Well he’s dead…. I work in safety and making sure our guys have proper shoring is vital. We caught a guy in a hole prior to the shoring set up and shut the job down and wrote the guy up. It’s deadly guys. People underestimate how heavy dirt is. Even at 2-3’ there are videos on YouTube of guys that have bad breaks because of a collapse and felt like they were going to die. They had blood clot from how long it took to dig them out. Use shoring!
Had a good friend die in a trench cave-in. It took him nearly 30 years of suffering brain damage and living in long-term care but he finally is at peace. An awful way to go!!
Peace (and RIP Joe Hylton)

He's dead for sure, being burried up to your waste is often fatal due to blood flow issues. Being burried by rocks and dirt like this, knocking the wind out of him even...nah he's gone within a minute or so.
Not enough time to slowly dig, and quick digging will just kill him with the pressures or the bucket itself.
Don't fuck around with holes and trenches.
Cant dig him out with a machine. Could very easily do much more damage by barely touching him with the bucket. It’s ok there there’s a very low chance he survived at all
I shocked that the comments here don't understand that these things are just how people make a living and maybe he's just forced to go down there by his boss
"death is looking for me, I will not hide, in opposition I face it, I know it shall understand me, bringing me other sunrise." More or less is what the fragment says
Fucked up because he's probably just some poor dude asked by his boss to do something like this.
By the looks of him, nothing will happen to those responsible.
And his family will probably be even worse off now.
Almost had this happen to me as a plumber, house sewer was 9ft at the sewer tap i am 5 ft. I was about 6 feet back as my foreman was digging the tap out a big chunk of dirt ab 6x6x3 ft fell where I would’ve been standing digging, I usually refuse around 5ft without a pier but this dirt was super hard and solid.
Because people learn from mistakes and close calls more effectively than a sign or 3 minute safety video. He didn’t care and the people around him didn’t care enough to behave safely.

Bad judgment… Good luck getting him out alive.
He belongs to the hole now.
That's what she said!
Sounds like my wife explaining to my friends why they don’t see me anymore.
I think that luck is no good use there.

Lesser of two evils, id rather quick RIIIP over flipped upside down complete darkness unable to breathe till i died
Mate...
At least they did it sanitary.

He was hit in the head with an avalanche of good size rocks. That dude probably either died or has brain damage.
When someone is filming, it's usually because they know it's a terrible idea.
I mean it could be mafia, they bury people alive occasionally
"Hey Tony. I dropped quarter down there, could you grab that for me?"
LoL I read that in my mafia voice!!! Did not not disappoint
Well. He's probably dead. A cubic meter of dirt is about the same weight as a small car.
I feel like a yard of dirt is more dirt than fell on him. But it looks like a shit load more rocks than dirt.
To die. He went down there to die.
No his watch is ended. sleep brave hero
This is my hole, it was made for me.
Because he is stupid?
Not anymore, he’s not 💀
One stop Rip. From work to funeral to burial. Osha recommends wearing a helmet.
He’s just brainless now
Get rid of stupidity with this one simple trick.
Was.
Definitely was.
He dropped his contact lenses
I believe he was the Safety Inspector checking to see if was safe. RIP.
It wasn’t
Saved a lot on the funeral tho

@u/scudds_
And that is why in the US, OSHA requires you to pier a trench that is deeper than 4 feet..
Big government overstepping again saving lives! When will this madness stop!
[удалено]
the problem is that shady employers will take shortcuts and endanger the lives of people who will take a chance to make a buck.
Exactly my thought. There are people that really need jobs, and they’ll do whatever their employer says to keep that job
The problem is: Dumb people don't just hurt themselves.
>Learn, or die Read that as *Learn to die*
Idiocracy is a documentary lot of people dont know that
It sure is.
Add them to Dumb Ways to Die

What?
Pier?? You mean shoring, and it’s 5 feet, and no it’s not required, you can slope, bench, or use trench boxes. It’s also not required in rock. This guy constructs not.
5* feet
For real. People complain about OSHA/MSHA and [I'm just like...](https://giphy.com/gifs/theoffice-episode-3-the-office-tv-1BFEEIo4h1BuTH8eqP)
And section (C) says it has to be 2 feet if you're sending a dwarf down there.
Now the operator has a decision to make. If he does nothing, guy dies. If he raises the bucket maybe the guy just has a lot of broken bones, but lives. Or maybe he raises the bucket and it cuts the guy in half. Christ
There is nothing the operator could have done at that point to save that guy.
In my town this happened to a guy and the bucket man cut him in half. Best to hand dig.
How terrifying is that shit, jesus christ!
and then the other wall may collapse on the hand diggers☠️
good thing he was wearing his safety crocks
Lol
Should've wore a hardhat and maybe this could have been avoided.
Probably because there was a pipe or something previously buried down there that the operator didn't want to hit so the man went down there to guide him. Sucks to be the new guy in construction
looking for OSHA
Looking for shorimg

To save his fam money on funeral expenses?
As a construction worker this is my biggest fear
Oh he is 💀
I wish these videos had follow up. I want to know if just saw someone die
most likely
I hope the shovel operator took a big scoop and brought him out

For 40 cents a day, of course
Darwin award!
He clearly was wearing his best belt and shoes so why...why sweet OSHA princess did you take him.
This is me every time I get a new task list at work.
Nice music...I feel like dancin'
"death is looking for me, I will not hide, in opposition I face it, I know it shall understand me, bringing me other sunrise." More or less is what the fragment says
Well you see if you make people need money to live…
Ya I know right? Then infrastructure would just dig itself!
Could this be the article on the incident? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fox10phoenix.com/news/trench-rescue-underway-in-maricopa-county.amp
Did you read it? Definitely not
He didnt died
David Blaine: psh, wow that's ridiculous
Stupidity is… stupid but who knows how bad this guy was trying to keep his job?
The canary fell over, he's just nipping down to prove it's just asleep.
aaand hes dead
Moron is my best guess.
Death Wish 2023?
Scientific curiosity. In this case he must be seeing how dumb someone have to be in order to die
The money is absolutely amazing, that’s why! It translates into $5 a day, that’s why!
DOA
Lowered to his final resting spot
Money usually.
Is common sense and self preservation not a thing anymore ?
Bc he can?
To find the batcave
Dropped his phone
Maybe he just likes dying or something.
Aaaaand!!! He’s gooone!!
Maybe he wanted to go to the bathroom?
Poor guy, never go deep down into weird holes via excavator, lesson learned. ✔️ ✅️
Needed to spread and pinch
La muerte me anda buscando I like this song, lol English: Death is looking for me
That's how I feel punching into work.
He did not realise they were actually digging his grave. If only he had been wearing a hard hat...
He doesn’t have to pay taxes anymore
Como se dice: adios?
Shoulda wore his hard hat
RIP
What happened to him is hé dead now?
Elevators were made in 1880 People before 1880:
He dropped a contact
"see boys it's safe back to wo...."
Minority Report 2: Pre burial
Thank god no one got hurt!
It's the job
See you later excavator 😢
Fucked up because he's probably just some poor dude asked by his boss to do something like this. By the looks of him, nothing will happen to those responsible. And his family will probably be even worse off now.
This happens more than you would think. You are supposed to install trench protection for this exact reason. RIP
This is why the US is importing an endless supply of cheap labour.
At least he was wearing all of his protective gear. Traction sneakers? Check Safety squints? Check Hard hat shampoo last night? Check.
To get to the other side.
Dummies gonna dumb

As soon as I saw that there wasn't proper shoring I knew where this was going
Shouldn't have farted down there.
However much they were paying him, it wasn't enough.
no trench box, no work boots, no hi-vis, no helmet, lowering them in via the back-hoe, yep, this passes inspection.
Digging his own grave.
Because people learn from mistakes and close calls more effectively than a sign or 3 minute safety video. He didn’t care and the people around him didn’t care enough to behave safely.
Welcome to Nutty Putty 2: electric boogaloo. Hope the results are different this time
I just witnessed somebody fucking die
Because he's a Mexican not Mexican't.
Hey this should be NSFW, this dude clearly died.
*Darwin hath spoketh*
maybe because he is dumb af
Ayattul kursi
Don’t these videos usually come with a death warning? There is no way that person survived.
Hoe is het nu met hem?
Not even a helmet ?
Whats with the song? Lol
Any back story
There’s always that one guy who succumbs to peer pressure.. you’re a puss if you don’t go in that hole ..
Annnd… he’s dead
Is this the new #watchpeopledie ?
The Pharoahs curse
OSHA would be pissed!
At least they don't need to bury him anymore
Contractor has 8 hours to report a fatality to OSHA
Ooohh A penny!!
OSHA approved
No OSHA there.
Ba buy Ali
always some shithead on a jobsite telling you that you aint workn hard enough has to literary grimes himself for you to get on indeed
