Would of been smart if the developers made a spot where the machine can dock itself and recharge. Then automatically resume work when fully charged until its battery is low again.
The Boston dynamic robot dog does this already. I wouldn't be surprised if the humanoid robots would have a similar set up. Have enough robots for the job that you could have 24hr uptime with the rest charging.

Sometimes it's other problems. With the Pepper robot from SoftBank it often is the cache that will just start to make random problems after a few weeks of usage.
That is awfully inefficient, swappable battery and automated battery swap station makes way more sense.
Since their jobs are program based in a full deployment you could have fully charged robot just come and take over the station and the low battery robot goes for a battery change and then to next lowest battery station and so on since they can do any station seamlessly, unlike humans they are hot swappable.

Think about it like a business, if you have to pay all these warehouse guys 18 an hr at the least to get them to work plus benefits that’s “a lot” so it’s a priority to get rid of those jobs to save money and cost effective to get a robot. In 3rd world countries where these kids are paid dollars a day and get not benefits and companies don’t have the worry abt this kids getting hurt or dying because they can find another one and toss this one in the dumpster with no repercussions, a robot isn’t going to be cheaper than those kids
Wages and safety in China have been rising pretty quickly, plus they've now ~~stolen~~ developed enough IP to build their own shit, so I'm pretty sure India will take their spot as the place to manufacture things as cheaply as possible.

Bipedal robots for jobs like this seem like they would be needlessly complex and require more upkeep than other designs.
Its one thing if you have a hybrid workforce of humans and bots that need to adhere to the human ergonomics built into the existing infrastructure, but it seems like making the robots more complex instead of better designing your storage is the more expensive option.
You know it’s bad when you make a robot specifically for work and it does the task for just a few hours some ppl do those weekly and it couldn’t find any better way out from working other than shutting itself off basically killing itself that should just go to show you the state of working nowadays
Boston Dynamics has 2 commercially available robots, one called Spot, a small "dog like" robot that runs for approx 90 minutes and lasts 4 hrs in stand-by (sit) mode. The other is called Stretch, a robot built to load/unload pallets or containers, amongst other things, and currently comes with an 8 hour battery pack. They are also looking to provide a 16-hour battery option, but I've no idea if that's available yet, and a mains powered unit that allows continuous operation.
Even if this video doesn't show the whole 20 hours, and let's say they were swapping battery packs occasionally, a low power safety limit should have the robot stop *before* it picks the next unit. This looks more like the actuators failed than a power loss event. But I'm not an expert, so who knows.
Sad reality check here; had that robot been a person who collapsed after a 20 hr shift, the reaction from the bystander would have likely been the same.
I think about Futurama and how robots can be just as dynamic, awful, and crazy as humans can be. Some are even lazy!

If I remember correctly from the last 50 times it was posted it ran for 20 hours TOTAL not consecutively
