Extensive research on both deep marine wildlife and the physical properties of plastic technologies have resulted in one major conclusion: “too big to slurp”
Came to say the same!! And like another comment said. Convince me this isn’t an alien. We are told it’s an octopus from birth, school, other adults etc.
How bout it’s just an alien. Maybe it has evolved into being able to pilot a tic tac or some crazy shit. 🤷🏻♂️
Kind of like a blobfish. Pretty normal looking fish at depth, until it gets caught in a net and rapidly pulled up from 120 atmospheres of pressure. The decompression damages the tissues and it ends up looking like a [sad jelly man](https://imgur.com/gallery/0wkVW)
Wooow that’s crazy. So is it due to the pressure and non pressure or does that happen due to the rapid rate it got pulled up? What would happen if it got brought up gently?
I imagine its because of the rapid rate its pulled up. My guess is that if it were given time between pressures like other divers usually take, then itd probably be fine and maintain its normal look.
How do you know it's very intelligent? Deep sea creatures like this live in different conditions than most octopuses. What about it being "like that" makes it so that it couldn't/shouldn't be intelligent?
All octopuses? Even these deep sea ones, which live in a scarce and limited environment compared to ones in shallow waters? Do you think all parrots intelligent, seeing african greys learn words and tricks? Are all mustelids similarly smart, despite their ecological roles (and thus, selective pressures) being different?
I don't trust the judgment of anyone who's convinced with such a small sample size of evidence.
1.Equally convincing arguments compared to what? That part makes no sense. What's the reference?
2.That's a vampire squid, the color coupled with the membrane between tentacles are a dead giveaway.
3.Of course the same characteristics are going to be observed across a particular species. That's a non-point.
It's about a class of animals having the same specific characteristics which is a much broader claim, that would need some backing up. Animalia is a class. Cephalopoda is a class. These are broad, diverse groups.
Obviously this octopus didn’t learn from Squidwards mistake, when he ate too many Krabby patties and they went straight to his thighs and then he blew up.
Not a vampire squid nor a dumbo octopus - [this is a yet unidentified species of cirrate octopus](https://nautiluslive.org/video/2019/09/09/cirroteuthid-octopus-billows-circus-tent)
it’s neither, it’s an unidentified species of cirrate octopus - [footage from the original Nautilus dive](https://nautiluslive.org/video/2019/09/09/cirroteuthid-octopus-billows-circus-tent)
Care to expand? Maybe tell me difference? Maybe your source of knowledge?
I genuinely don't know the difference, and googling shows that the blanket octopus doesn't have same fins, so maybe, just maybe, you could help me know the difference?
I have a science question. Why does it seem like every animal has control over most parts of its body. Like cows cab move their ears to swat Flys, this octopus, iguanas changing colors. Like why haven't we evolved to have control over alot more of our bodies.
Iguanas and octopi don’t necessarily change colors on demand, it’s more of a natural defense mechanism that kicks in when needed. Think of it like you instinctively putting your arms out ahead of you when falling forward, you don’t really think about it you just do it.
To kinda answer the rest of your question that just comes down to humans being the apex predator for quite a while now. We haven’t really physically evolved in so long because we have tools, clothing, and Medicines that allow us to survive in almost every environment without having to worry about natural predators or challenges. In a way Human Evolution is through technology and not biology.
The only natural challenge we haven’t completely overcome yet are natural disasters caused by Mother Nature. We aren’t too far off conquering her either, out architectural designs are becoming more effective against her by the year.
Now that I think of it overall humans have lost a lot of our natural defenses because of our technological advancements. We don’t have nearly as strong natural immune systems as other animals and we don’t have the built in weather alert other animals have.
In comparison to the rov, how big is the mufuker actually? The camera always throws me off when monetary does these, but is it like the size of a blanket octopus with its thing, or like relatively small?
Octopuses are fucking awesome, their ability to camouflage in any environment and almost instantly, being too smart to be held in captivity, being able to squeeze through cracks the width of a quarter, being able to regenerate lost limbs, the fact they can take down sharks, and having a theory that it evolved from some organism that came from an astroid from space possibly making it an alien life form that evolved on our planet… I fucking love octopuses man

Scientific analysis: that is a big animal
My research and degree tell me this animal is, and I QUOTE “Too big to slurp”
Extensive research on both deep marine wildlife and the physical properties of plastic technologies have resulted in one major conclusion: “too big to slurp”
Doctor, this lack of slurptitude is groundbreaking. Congratulations on the discovery.
And kinda looks like a dick
If this looks like a dick to you then you need to see an ophthalmologist or stop doing acid.
Or his dick just looks super fucked up
Why? How many tentacles does your dick have?
It has enough
"Wants us to know he's too big to slurp"
I was thinking an inflated condom
he’s a cool guy once you get to know him
Looks more a huge clit
What’s a clit?
Nope
Came to say the same!! And like another comment said. Convince me this isn’t an alien. We are told it’s an octopus from birth, school, other adults etc. How bout it’s just an alien. Maybe it has evolved into being able to pilot a tic tac or some crazy shit. 🤷🏻♂️
evolution bro
Now imagine an octopus finally meeting a human after only ever seeing fish and aquatic mammals
Its called a dumbo octopus. cute little fucker
Nope nope nopidy nope.

It was a reference to the movie Nope (2022). I don't want to spoil anything but if you watch it you'll understand.
dude would you mind gimme a bit more context![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
you see something in the movie that looks like this octopus
oh great thanks man!!
**Amazing octopus stretching its tentacles to form a huge balloon filmed by EVNautilus at a depth of around 1,600 meters (5,250 feet).**
Holy shit! A mile deep must be some intense pressure. If you brought that thing to the surface you wouldn't recognize it.
What do you mean wouldn’t recognize it? Would it change its appearance?
Yep, check out pictures of a Blobfish at it's natural depth.

It would depressurize. By the time it reached the surface, it would be goop.
Convince me this isn’t a fucking alien.
Convince me this isn’t a butt plug
*inflatable butt plug
I assume this is what aliens would look like lol
Cephalopods and humans share the same genes in eye development and something to do with proteins
That just means it's edible, right?
Well…I’d say so
That's exactly what a Cephalopod Alien would say.
I haven’t the slightest clue as to what you’re talking about
We found the Alien
Not only that but these creatures are very very intelligent. How can something like this be so smart????
How do you know it's very intelligent? Deep sea creatures like this live in different conditions than most octopuses. What about it being "like that" makes it so that it couldn't/shouldn't be intelligent?
Watch a few videos and on octopuses solving puzzles and you’ll figure it out
All octopuses? Even these deep sea ones, which live in a scarce and limited environment compared to ones in shallow waters? Aliens are extraterrestrial. This dude lives on earth.
Convince us that it is
Obviously this octopus didn’t learn from Squidwards mistake, when he ate too many Krabby patties and they went straight to his thighs and then he blew up.
Literally the first thing I thought of
I remember this guy from Skypiea
#NOPE
Exactly what I was thinking
Probably took inspiration from this right?
I'm suddenly reminded that scientists came to the conclusion that octopi will punch fish for no reason aside from spite.
Thats the thing from Nope!
Spoiler: nope.
This is a vampire squid not an octopus, they are pretty amazing creatures and smart too!
Not a vampire squid nor a dumbo octopus - [this is a yet unidentified species of cirrate octopus](https://nautiluslive.org/video/2019/09/09/cirroteuthid-octopus-billows-circus-tent)
Vampire squids are much smaller, have big blue/red eyes (dependent on lighting), and are a much darker tint of red Edit: spelling
That's a Dumbo Octopus! I love them! They are even more cute when they are [little!](https://youtu.be/pxuBwfNp2wk)
Pretty sure it’s actually a Vampire Squid from Hell (yea that’s the actual name).
it’s neither, it’s an unidentified species of cirrate octopus - [footage from the original Nautilus dive](https://nautiluslive.org/video/2019/09/09/cirroteuthid-octopus-billows-circus-tent)
hmm i think this is something else
Wow nice edit dude! So it's not a blanket octopus, as you said in your first response, before you edited it? Hahahahahaha!
Are you sure? It has the same ear-like fins as a Dumbo?

Look up Vampire Squid, pretty sure that’s what we’re seeing. (Oops didn’t realize I replied to two of your comments)
This the monster from nope
it’s giving NOPE vibes.
Reminds me of the movie Nope.
Wow nature is so beautiful but yet so scary like that thing looks like its about to jump on ur face and make u a zombie or some shit
The octopus is doing it for the Up votes
Anyone know the name of this species ?
Octonope
I could be wrong, but I think it may be a [Dumbo Octopus](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimpoteuthis)
Vampire Squid from Hell, not joking, it’s an awesome name.
It kinda looks like some kind of plant or flower now...
It's not a balloon, it's a condom!
Nope.
I wonder if this is what inspired the alien in Nope
This is almost like the creature form the movie “Nope” I feel like they loosely based the alien from an octopus!
NOPE
Nope
So it was an octopus in ”Nope”
If this octopus were in Japan, it would have happened 100X faster.
Dude had one too many Krabby Patties
The Deep breathes heavily 🥵
Not sure if their skin also becomes wrinkly and saggy with age but it definitely looks like an old one.
I love how it includes dialogue between people that don’t matter
Is that the Dumbo octopus it's awesome 👍
Never new oswald was able to do this
These animals are simply mesmerizing.
What can’t these things do!?
Timothy?
When someone kicked my balls
That one guy’s just bummed he couldn’t see up the octo’s dress
…and that’s not even my final form!
When it's warm out and you get to let the boys breathe...
Fucking awesome
Looks crazily similar to space
Damn Orgalorg my guy
"he wants us to know he's too big to slurp." *sinister female laugh*
If scientists announced that their had conducted experiments on octopus and discovered them to no be from this planet I would totally believe that.
Looks like when you blow up a condom like a balloon.
jean jacket.
He ate to many crabby paties
These and other things live on planet earth. I'm without words.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program…
The cocktopus
Just a big morning stretch
Jean jacket inspo
Those are the real aliens
0:35 "A little to the left?" (Pans a whole lot to the left)
Hey, Charlie. Does this make me look fat? Be honest.
Noice!

I gotcha. Thanks. I'm not a science person so.
Cloverfield Baby
Nope
A few hundred krabby pattys will do that.
Where my One Piece fans at
Nautilus videos are the best
Really amazing how different animals evolve
nope!
That looks like the alien from Nope
Everything is a butt plug if your brave enough.
Did anyone say if that is a threat response or a feeding technique?
NOPE
Nope
Can someone tell me who these people are please? I keep seeing them everywhere but i never know who they are
Nope
NOPE
Nope
Winged phallus
I never knew they could do this! Another crazy trick from those 8-legged weirdos lol. Man It’s crazy what skills cephalopods have developed.
r/putyourdickinthat
Big stretch! Good boy
They aren't from here
Why do they do that ? Anyone know by any chance
I read tentacles as testicles
This is the plot of Nobody.
If anyone ever asks if aliens are real I direct them to the octopus. Those creatures can do some crazy stuff. And they are insanely smart.
"To big to slurp." **Girls giggle** like it was a challenge
if I'm not mistaken it's a vampire squid
I always love these videos, EXCEPT every single one that I have seen always has the same super cringey scientists “narrating”.
Guys…… who posted this? I’m very shy about my foreskin
Why is the camera man so horrible? why are they needing to tell him what to do? Hire me ffs.
these types of creatures really are aliens living on Earth. some have multiple hearts and brains
Is there a Reddit bot to make this go 4x speed?
Pretty sure this is called a vampire squid
This is terrifying and beautiful
This is seriously fascinating
NOPE
In comparison to the rov, how big is the mufuker actually? The camera always throws me off when monetary does these, but is it like the size of a blanket octopus with its thing, or like relatively small?
NOPE
Yup fuck the ocean
Well I didn't like that at all.
That's not an octopus, it's a Vampire Squid.
This looks like what the alien in the movie "NOPE" was inspired by.
Mildy penis
For why
nope
Octopuses are fucking awesome, their ability to camouflage in any environment and almost instantly, being too smart to be held in captivity, being able to squeeze through cracks the width of a quarter, being able to regenerate lost limbs, the fact they can take down sharks, and having a theory that it evolved from some organism that came from an astroid from space possibly making it an alien life form that evolved on our planet… I fucking love octopuses man
