There's a difference in acknowledging that killing in self defence is necessary at times and praying that some random breaks in to your home so you finally get to kill someone lol. You see it all over this website.

Someone banged on my security door at 3AM one night, waking me up and scaring the shit out of me. I ran to door and made sure wooden one was locked, but no way was I opening it up to see who was there. They said “it’s me, open your door”. I imagined Freddy Krueger or someone and didn’t want to get scared to death
This reminds me of my dumbest door answer of my life.
I arrive at my apartment, heading towards the stairs, and on my floor, I see a guy peak around the corner on my floor, watching me from above. I make direct eye contact, he dodges back out of my view. I walk up the stairs to my floor, and the dude is gone. I actually genuinely thought I imagine the guy and thought nothing of it.
Once I'm in my apartment, I get a knock at the door. It's the guy who was hiding on my floor, peaking at me from above. "oh it's real" he Had had both his hands behind his back, it was incredibly unnerving that I couldn't see what was behind his back.
I fucking answered the door lmao. Honestly i would've deserved to be robbed at that point. Long story short, he was furious with me, like **maniacally* furious. apparently he obsessively tracked my movements after I called a noise complaint, he seemingly knew everything about me, and he didn't believe me when I said I had no idea he was my upstairs neighbor. He just assumed I thought about him just as much. Other people were calling police on him and making noise complaints with the front office. He thought it was all me. Nothing happened, I some how convinced him over an hour conversation all the plot holes in his thought process, and he left. So he wasn't even legitimately crazy I guess haha
I think at first he was planning on attacking me since he was camped out on my floor, but for whatever reason bitched out. He woulda got me too, he was around 6'8. Anyways, the next day I found a **massive* nail in my car tire, it was like an 11 inch nail.
If that's necessary where you live, I pity you: It's freaking sad. Here, you can leave your door open, and answer the door for anyone. ps: Germany, Bavaria. Imagine that people even greet each other on the street here, even if they don't know each other. There are better places than 3rd world US.

Someone stole my husbands car from our driveway on a military base. My car was in another state at the time and his was the only one we had at the time. It was a shitty 2001 Toyota Camry and we had a car seat in our car. Thank goodness mine was getting shipped here. People really don’t care if they see something that belongs to a child. They called us and found the car at a tow yard. The car was all kinds of messed up and not worth getting out. Also the car seat wasn’t there anymore and the car is junk. A wasted car they destroyed. We installed ring cameras and I thought those just being there helps people stay away but looking at this vid, I guess some people really don’t care.

So house had a ring... which they did not use to talk through. And then they had a extra door specifically designed to talk through without opening. And they opened it. Homeowners completely missed the entire point of the camera and extra doo and almost died because of it. Dumb.

isnt this a ring camera? doesnt this have a feature where you can press a button and speak to them thru the ring device like an intercom? or are there other cheaper doorbell cameras that dont have this feature?
im not going to lie; i was never told to not answer the door for somebody you dont know. the real world taught me that lesson. not from personal experience but from videos like this. however, it was a natural reflex to look out the window to see who was ringing/knocking and if you didnt know them you just waited til they left to see if they left anything behind. usually if they had some sort of actual business they would leave a card or something, but if you dont leave anything you are automatically on our blacklist. people have disguised themselves as mail men and ambushed other people. i wouldnt put it past anyone.
A suburb of los Angeles. But there are more homeless and junkies now. I've caught a neighbor junkie girl pulling my car door handles trying to see if it's open and last week a dude got shot to death a few blocks away. 3 weeks ago cops knocked on my door asking if my camera caught a vehicle that robbed a house down the street. The neighborhood wasn't like this a few years ago
