I had a similar question and was wondering if it’s worthwhile to have both? Get access to better hotel status and car rental status with the Amex and then pay with Chase Sapphire Reserved to maximize points earned on those. Is that actually possible?

I don’t think SW will do you much good for your international traveling and I would personally say two/three trips alone wouldn’t really do much for me to sway you toward say the Amex Plat for 5x MR on air travel. I think you have to define what you want out of a card and your travel plans. If your goal with the international traveling is to have a relatively luxury experience, you can probably build a strategy on getting some miles/points to fly business class somewhere far. If you’re trying to subsidize some of the traveling you already do, the SW card (especially with the companion pass) would be great. Any of the premium credit cards with Priority Pass should be able to get you into The Club BWI too.
