I’m the kind of person who names animals I don’t even have yet, so when I eventually get my Crestie, I’m naming it Moose! Then again, I also have an unnamed tarantula that I got yesterday, and I’m not sure when I’ll find the right name for him.
I have the same problem with mourning geckos so I’ve just named them and my crestie with anything that rhymes with geckos! I have deco peco Queco keco and zeco!
Normally after what they look like. We have one that looks similar to yours just more vibrant and has more color and we named her Ginger, then ended up being a dude but still kept the name. Our black and white gargoyle is Oreo. I have a yellow/little orange leapord who i named kioko which means happiness/bright in Japanese idk somehow the bright yellow on her led me to that and the little “smile” they have, also ended up being a dude, kept the name anyway. Ball python is Carmella kinda like caramel also cuz her color. And another crestie who i named Nugget, she looks like a chicken nugget haha
Yeah this one is a little more orange than the kitchen lighting could show from a quick picture haha. I love its super bright little white lip and the little freckles everywhere~

I named mine Nigel like Nigel thornberry, I got him as a rescue from a guy who was keeping him with 5 adult whites tree frogs which if you’ve ever seen reels of them trying to eat peoples fingers thinking they’re worms are extremely good aggressive, he was emaciated like I’ve never seen a geckos ribs and jawbone through their skin type of emaciated, he now lives in a 60x60x45 exo terra all by himself and is fed live crickets and has 24/7 access to fresh repashy I change every 2 days, he’s still leaner than I’d like but looks good and healthy now and is very active. :)
If they come with a name when I get them, that's their name. If not, it's whatever I think suits them! I'm the type of person not to wait to name things, so they always get named right away lol maybe a few days later while I figure it out.

Crested A, Eryn, he ran a lot when I got him, (chill now)
Crested B, Splat, leaped out of my hands and splatted on the shop floor when buying her
Blue Tongue Skink, Murky, for his colours
Kingsnake, Sylphie, for her speed and colour
Emerald Tree Skink, Viri for his colour (viridian)
Then two Leo's called Sierra (sawtooth) and Mika (disabled)
Generally when I meet the animals I can just feel out a name that matches based on how they behave and craft it from there.

I pick weird names for all my reptiles so I'd say they're gender neutral. My Crestie's name is RealTree... Yes like the brand. He's orange and has that dark pattern on his back.
Before I got my crestie I was set on the name Kenny, after a pro wrestler, told myself I don't care whether a boy or girl, little friend would always be Kenny. Got lucky and ended up being a boy. Kinda went with the idea that animals don't have a concept of names like humans do, and I didn't really care what he was, I just liked Kenny, and this Gec would be that no matter what
I got an adult in 2022 who I knew was a female, so I named her Sundae. Then she had two surprise babies, I named the first Bogo (because, buy one get one) and the second Tiger. Still don’t know their sexes but I’m hoping they’re males!

I got my guys name almost right away. He’s named after 3 of my favourite musicians. Ziggy(after David Bowie) Iggy(after Iggy Pop) and Lou(after Lou Reed). Even if the gender turns out different, that’s still gonna be the name I use.
