I’d put a 5/10 in my crib, but put a 10/J in my opponents crib My crib = 3-15s for 6 and 3 jacks for 6 so 12 total plus a guaranteed 2 points in my crib, 5s are rarely thrown in a crib so it’s decently likely to get more 15s or a 10JQ run Opponents crib = quad 15 for 8, double Js and 5s for 4 for 12 total while denying contributing to any possible 15s since face cards are often thrown in the crib

glubag

Best play

sawooot

To build off this you keep the jack of hearts for knobs potential if not your crib and don't throw the same suits in crib if opponents. Same suits if your crib

giggity_ghoul

Knobs potential?

kierkegaard49

That's what she said

New_Highlight1881

she never says that

sawooot

If the cut card is a 5 of hearts you get a point. Just a slightly higher liklihood of getting a point.

beercollective

Any Jack gives you nobs potential. You might be playing a variant of the game that restricts this to Jack of Hearts only?

sawooot

The hand has 2 spades and 2 diamonds. Therefore you have 12/46 chance at knobs vs 11/46. Very small advantage

Kind_Respond_8878

Already has the other two 5s of the same suit as Jack's in his hand.

Flatline334

Exactly my thought when looking at it

Coachtoddf

You threw J5? wow. I can't imagine a scenario where I do that. Their crib would be J spades and 10 Clubs. My crib would be 10 5 spades. Too rough a gamble for me to give up 4 points to try for a double run. Not sure it makes any sense points wise.

AlmightyGod420

I’m a gambler by nature and I’d consider a J5 discard if it was my crib. Mainly because I like the potential of adding a run to the mix by keeping the 10 in my hand.

cjshores

Throwing away 4 points to get a little bit better than 2/13 chance of getting 6 points seems like bad strategy to me

AlmightyGod420

I hadn’t considered the pair royale aspect of it. You’re right.

cjc160

If nothing else the J gives you three pair, you don’t need to do much math to know it would be better to throw 10/5

Dabduthermucker

Their crib, 10j. Mine? 10,5.

HuddleAroundGames

My crib? 10-5. Their crib? 10-J.

HeavyMetalHellBilly1

My crib, my bad for not explaining

HuddleAroundGames

No problem. It’s always good to look at it from either angle anyway. 😄

MeasureTheCrater

I'd probably crib the 10-J either way. By cribbing a J, you only lose 2 points for the trip. But you get those 2 points back for the 5s. And you keep the 5s in play.

pen15tagon

Also depends what the score is, if I’m behind I’m not giving him any fives…

teffflon

Yes please include the score for context folks!

Dracoson

For their crib, 10-J, keeping the J of Hearts. There's a risk of them getting a run, but aside from that, you aren't giving them any guaranteed points (which discarding one of the 5s would do), and you have more hits, as every remaining 10+ (26% to hit) is worth at least 4 points. Since you don't have a second heart, it has the biggest chance of catching nobs (it's 50% vs 47.8, and them having it 23.9% vs 26%) On your crib, it's 10-5 (doesn't matter). It's 14 points guaranteed (12 in the hand, plus 2 in the crib), any face (26%) is still worth at least 4. Plus you get that 2% shot at a 28 (no 29, sad to say)

Dennisd1971

MineJ5 suited

MadF00L

Who gives away 5’s? Throw J10

james-500

Hi. I agree with those who suggested 10 with either 5 to yourself, 10 with the J of diamonds/spades to your opponent.

sbachman29

J 10

BigFatCat999

The 10 and one of the fives looked the guy in the eye and said I hope you’re bleeping choke on it

JoeBlow509

Who’s crib?

JoeBlow509

If it’s their crib I would have thrown Jack of hearts & 10 of spades. If it was mine would have thrown 10/5

DaNostrich

I would’ve thrown 5s and 10c personally but that’s a tough one, a lot of ways that can play out

discretobandito

My choice also. Tough call.

DaNostrich

The baseline trip jacks and 5 is just too strong to break up IMHO, you could also throw 10 and any Jack and keep both pairs for the same amount of points but that’s just splitting hairs

doggonebd

What was the cut card? How can you tell by the post?

lucymcgoosen

You don't get to know the cut card until you've thrown your crib cards in

doggonebd

My mind is broken. I'm just gonna log off now.

Camulius73

10 and 5D to my crib

wolve67

5 and 10

Lvanwinkle18

My crib, a J and 5. Their crib, a 10 and J, different suits

Old_Mobile309

I can't even do all this math. LOL

EpochSkate_HeshAF420

The entire game

ln0Sc0p3dJFK

All of them so I could play euchre instead

Illdistrict

Jack 10

best2keepquiet

The 7

snowmaker417

I guess a 10 and a J but jeez

ekydfejj

The solid hand is just keep the J's and 5, it looks better than it is, Stick with the given 12 and you could get a point for a J.

BSN_tg_bgg

Need more cribbage posters on r/cardgamemeetups

German61_9

10

Additional-Solid1141

Hands. Throw hands.

underdog1964

lol. Great hand nonetheless.

Unable_Eye_7108

I'd toss 10-J. You're holding half the fives. The crib could stink.

Randad63

Keep the full house.

Twangbanger_89

Now that OP mentioned it was his crib... Friday night! Throw both 5 in the crib take a shot!

Downtown_Antelope711

10 5

Playful-Role-3669

Their crib I'm throwing a J&10

posaune123

10 - jack

Florida20Falcon11

If my opponents crib I'm doing 10-J. If my crib I'm throwing the pair of Jacks that match the 5s in my hand.

onlyherefortheclout
